The Iphone is stuck in recovery mode and i can't restore it.
i got an iphone 3 that had all it's setting erased and is stucked in recovery mode and itumes is giving multiple errors, i can't get out of recovery or shutdown the iphone. i did try all the troubleshooting advices in the apples support pages.

I've done all of these, even trying a different USB port, and still, nothing. This is really confusing. Windows 8.1 said something to do with USB malfunction or something and nothing works. I need to restore my iPhone quickly and nothing has happened. My cable is not genuine Apple product. iTunes makes the noise that it makes when I connect the device, but it doesn't say 'iPhone is in recovery mode' or even say 'iPhone' in the corner. I am really fed up and would really appreciate a response.

Hi, my iphone 5 encountered an unknown error while updating to iOS 7 via itunes and is now stuck in recovery mode and prompts me to restore the phone when I connect it to itunes but then I would lose all my data. I DO NOT have any back ups on itunes. Is there anyway to get out of recovery mode without restoring or recover data after a restore?
Or any other suggestions please? ThanksAs pdroth said, you should have gotten a backup made when you started the update of iOS. If you cannot find a backup, and the phone is in recovery mode, there are no futher suggestions to make. To get the phone working again you have to restore. You cannot force a backup at this time since it is already in recovery mode. It will not allow anything else but a restore at this point.

Hi, i had the same problem. Try to find the file "apple" or "itunes" don't know it anymore exactly. Ahm well you need to delet any information or just plug in your iphone into an other computer. important is that your iphone never has been pluged in this computer before. This was what i did, and it worked!

This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection. -

IPhone stuck in recovery mode and I NEED MY MEDIA!
Trying to update to the newest OS, typically failed with an "unknown error (-1)" and now my phone is stuck in recovery mode and wants me to restore it. I have many photos and videos only on my phone that I desperately do not want to lose, no icloud. How can I retrieve them?? I did a sync/backup via itunes right before trying to update but I don't think that saves my photos, does it, since itunes doesn't import photos from my camera roll? Help.

I don't have access to another computer currently. I tried pretty much everything on that page and other forums I could find except for the things that I don't understand or don't know how to do such as connecting without an internet proxy(what? tech-stupid here, I need it spelled out.) configuring security software, ports and firmware and really this is all gibberish to me. It's mind baffling how I had a perfectly working phone and computer 2 days ago and now because of this stupid update I have no phone at all. Guess I'm just going to have to call apple and try to have them sort it out for me although usually when I call them I don't understand how to do half the things they say anyway... isn't there anyone who can translate more simply to a computer moron?? Hah. I'm in the middle of nowhere WV, apparently there's not even an apple store in this entire state, so that's out. Seems like everytime I have to update anything regarding apple it turns into a major problem. -

To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you checked your connections and are still seeing the error message, check for hardware issues.
If so, then it's a hardware problem. Make an appointment at the genius bar and get it replaced. Based on the "it was water damaged", I think it's a safe bet that it's toast. -
