  • What should I do when my iPhone is in recovery mode, I'm trying to restore, and it's stuck at the "Waiting For iPhone" stage??

I dropped my iPhone on the ground, and as I went to pick it up, I started to swear under my breath as I realized my iPhone was in recovery mode. I'm like "how would an iPhone be this sensitive -_-," and so as my iPhone's docked unto my laptop, and with relentless attempts to restore my iPhone, I always find iTunes stuck at the "Waiting For iPhone" stage and I honestly have no clue what to do at this point. What should I do to bypass this or fix this problem? Or do I just wait? -_-

Nothing except that when I turn it on, there's a USB cable and an iTunes logo above it, indicating that it's in recovery mode.

Water damage is really a tough hurdle to get over if the steps you have already tried do not work.
The next step would be to tranfer your Logic Board to a working 3GS to see if it works.
If the Logic Board is good or you just want to try one more thing, try cleaning the Dock Port very well with Isopropyll Alcohol. If still problem, at most replace the Dock Port Assembly.
Throwing good money after a bad iPhone is not a good idea.

  • Iphone 4S stuck during restore, waiting for iPhone message error 9

yesterday morning when I woke up to check my Emails on my iphone 4S, my phone was complete dead. I thought battery died so plugged into charger. but even after couple of hours it didnt turned up. So I started force starting by pressing power button several times but nothing happened.
Then I pressed both home and power button for several minutes, nothing.....
Finally I connected my iphone to itunes thru my Mac air and to my surprise it said my phone is in recovery mode and needs to be restored. I pressed ok, it extracted software and then said waiting for iphone. and I was happy to see apple logo on my phone with a progress bar. I waited for almost 12 hrs but nothing moved in the progress bar. seems like it frozen. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting to itunes but everytime same error. whenever i plugeed out my phone from itunes, it errored out no. 9.
Also it is not showing any s/n for my iphone in itunes. I am very confused and frustated, read many forums and also updated my itunes, updated my software and turned on the firewall too. NOTHING HELPED.
Does anyone have any solutions to share?
    Thanks

  • BUY IPHONE 4 32GB OR WAIT FOR IPHONE 3 64GB?

Hey Everyone! I am a student and I really need an Iphone as it makes my life much more efficient. At the moment I am using a Iphone 3G 8GB, and it is old, slow and sometimes not responding. The 8GB capacity is far from enough as well.
I am thinking about getting Iphone 4, however, the 32GB won't be enough for long, as I have at least 12 GB MUCH NEEDED APPS, 5GB FOR MUCH NEEDED MAPS, 2GB FOR FILE STORAGE, 4GB MUSICS, AND 3-5 GB PODCAST/AUDIOS AND VIDEOS.
THE MAIN PROBLEM IS THE ACTUALL AVAILABLE CAPACITY OF 32GB IS ONLY 27 OR 28 SOMETHING? LIKE IT IS ONLY 6.9GB ON A 8GB MODEL?
In my calculation, I will feed up 20GB of the Iphone 4 right after getting it, and it just have 8-9 GB to grow... and the same lack of capacity problem will happen again,
But I don't know when Apple will announce its Iphone 4 64GB?
Should I get this iphone 4 right away or wait for Iphone 4 64GB?

12 GB seems a bit high for apps to me, especially if you are not including maps in that number. I have 3.3 and use a GPS solution that does not permanently store maps. 2 GB for file store sound more than reasonable though. I have twice as much music on mine and could really put less than that on since I listen to Pandora or other streaming radio more often. If you usually get good 3g internet connectivity and especially if you have the unlimited data plan still then you should consider just streaming podcasts instead of downloading them. You can browse to them in iTunes Store on iPhone and then play them from there using the preview button. The last time I tried that it played the whole podcast. I think it still does that.
You may even want to free up more space so that you have more room for taking pictures and recording video. Don't leave a bunch of videos and pictures you recorded on the iPhone either. Post videos and photos you create to web services so you can access them from there instead.
I'd welcome the extra storage space as well, however they had to hold something back to get me to buy the next iPhone release, didn't they? You could just stick with your iPhone and get the iPod Touch, however the better camera and better screen were enough to make me go with the iPhone 4.

Trying to restore iPhone back to stock on 6.1.4 and the phone is stuck at the waiting for iPhone screen. Is there any way to get the phone to start reloading the OS or do I have to take in to an Apple store to let them try to adjust the problem?

  • Was stuck on "Waiting For iPhone." Now it won't respond to the charge chord

My phone has been giving me a lot of trouble today and I've been looking all over for tips and tricks, but so far, nothing has helped.
It's an iPhone 4. One of my apps was being glitchy after a recent update, so I decided to delete it and reinstall it. When that didn't solve the issue, I decided to shut my phone off and turn it on again to see if it made a difference. Since then, it's been stuck in a loop. At first, it was stuck on the Apple logo. I managed to get it into recovery mode and connected it to iTunes, but only got as far as the "Waiting For iPhone" message.
After several attempts to get it to recover, it no longer responds to the charge chord. Pressing and holding the top and home buttons only gives me the Connect To iTunes image and when I reconnect it to my computer, ... nothing.
What should I do? Is my phone lost for good? If I take it to the Apple Store in another city, is there anything they can do, or am I out of luck because I'm out of warranty?

The message that you're getting about the USB port is Windows rather than the Shuffle, ignore this as it will all work anyway.
How were you formatting the iPod shuffle? Using Windows? If this is the case I'd assume that was probably a bad choice that Windows asked you to make.
In any case I would download the latest iPod updater from http://www.apple.com/uk/ipod/download/ - open this and then plug your iPod into your computer - update the firmware and then everything hopefully should be sorted

  • Waiting for Iphone stuck dfu blank screen

My sister messed up her phone and was trying to take a screen shot ,in the end she got it in dfu mode blank screen and cant turn back .so i connect to itunes and it says its in recovery mode ,clicked it and loaded the software i downloaded before gets to the "waiting for iphone" and its stuck on the swigaly loading bar and stays like that any ideas to fix it and there is no turning back i tried exiting dfu.

If it won't restore, you'll need to take it to the Apple Store for an evaluation.

  • Tried restoring iphone 4s but is stuck on "waiting for iPhone"

My phone randomly shut off during a call and wouldn't turn back on even though it had a full charge.
I hooked it up to my Mac and did the steps to restore but when the apple icon and loading bar showed up it was stuck on "waiting for iphone" for over 2 hours. I was told to do the hard reset and try again but that also didn't work.
I went through the steps on the support page and it said to hold down the home button and allow "connect to itunes" icon to show but it wouldn't appear.
Any suggesions been working at this for a while now and it's quite frustrating.

Still haven't gotten anywhere. Even took it to a phone repair place and no one can get a solution. Contacting apple once again

That does happen.  It depends on how hard the server is being hit, as well as the connection speed of your system.  If you are on a windows system, you will want to disable any antivirus or firewall software during the download.

  • ITunes stuck in "Waiting for iPhone" and iPhone 5's progress bar won't start loading.

I was with about 40% battery, playing a game, when my iPhone 5 iOS 8.1 suddenly turned off, it wouldn't turn back on even with 30m charging. I went to iTunes, and it recognized it on recovery mode, and I tried to restore. However, it got stuck on "Waiting for iPhone" and the iPhone was with the progress bar at 0% for HOURS. I can't find a solution for the problem myself.
    Thanks.

do you have a cdma iphone 4? becauase cdma iphones dont have a sim card slot... the providers that use cdma technology here in the us would be verizion, sprint, criket, ect... if you want to use your iphone 4 on att or tmobile (gsm carriers). then you would need a gsm iphone 4 (has sim card slot). a gsm iphone 4 is different than a cdma iphone 4 (they have different radio chips). maby you missed the sim card slot? sim card slot would be on the side of the phone.. never inside (unless it has a removable back cover like the galaxy s3 or s4), if you dont see a sim card slot on the side of the phone than you have a cmda iphone 4. can you tell me what carrier you are trying to use?

  • Has any one figured out how to fix an issue I'm having. My iPhone 5 randomly shuts off by itself. Then it won't turn on when i try to hook it up to iTunes it says its in recovery mode. so then i hit restore and its been stuck on waiting for iPhone.

This happened after I did a software update on my phone about a month and a half ago. My phone will randomly shut off by itself and wont come back on. I had spoke with an apple repair person over the phone who told me to hold in the home button and then plug it into my computer. When the iphone said that there was an error and gave him a code he suggested that I send it in. So I did and about a week and a half later I get it back and its on. Yet the problem still occurs. It shut off twice in the same day and for several hours would not come on. When it did I called apple again and they ran a diagnostic on my phone and said it was a software issue. So then why was it not fixed? They told me they could not duplicate the problem. And now it happens about once or twice a week now. And its happening right now. I have it plugged into my computer and the apple logo with a bar below it has been on for about 20 min now. And itunes is still saying "waiting for iphone."

    Hello Elliiee,
The steps detailed below can help stabilize your iPhone.
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?
    Contact Apple Support.
