IPhone 4 suddenly making very weird vibration noise

So yesterday I noticed when my phone vibrates it makes this extra loud/high pitch vibration noise as if something is loose, kinda seems like its the back cover or something.  The phone is roughly 2 years old, so I can't take it and have it replaced.  I plan on upgrading later this year when all the important 2013 phones are out, so I can choose the one I like best.  In the meantime this noise is extremely irritating, just wondering if anybody else has experienced this and fixed it (in a way that doesn't involve it still being under warranty lol)

Most likely the Vibrate Motor screws have come slightly loose. Make Genius reservation and take to Apple Store. Show the Genius the problem and for free they can easily open the iPhone and tighten the screws for you.

  • My laptop is making this weird cricket noise...what is the problem?

My laptop has started making this weird crickety noise. The laptop works fine, but its just the noise that's a bit irritating. I have a 13" Mackbook Pro, that i just purchased recently in September. It's only been 4 months and the laptop hasnt been dropped or anyhting like that. I take really good care of it.

The noise makers on a MBP are the fans, HDD or the Optical drive.  If it is the retina model, only the fans should produce a sound.
Can you locate where the noise is coming from and advise what model MBP you have.
    Ciao.

The screen on my iphone has suddenly become very sensitive and mutes ny calls all the time I know there was a bug fix but don't know how to find it?

If your screen is flickering, you might have a hardware issue there. I would take Macie to the doctor and have her checked out.

  • My macbook air is making a weird squealing noise when charging.

Hi, recently i have noticed that my macbook air has started to make a weird squealing noise when charging. This noise is feint, though it's clearly audible, and is quite annoying when i am using my mac for things like word processing and internet browsing. It only makes this noise when the charger is plugged in, and not when it is running off battery power. Whats also worth noting is that whenever i scroll up or down a page in safari, or chome, the noise changes slightly. Again this only happens when the mba is plugged in.

hi, right now i am using my macbook air off the battery, and everything seems to be running ok. unfortunantly this is my first mac, so i dont have any other chargers lying around that i could test it with. However i shall definately see about taking it to the genius bar. its a bit of a pain, seeing as it's only been ten days since i purchased the **** thing.

  • MacPro Making VERY Weird Noises, Anyone Have any ideas?

For the past few days I have been processing and editing a recent job. This weekend the MacPro began making some very irritating and strange noises.
    Here is what happens;
I am sitting there editing when all of a sudden I hear one of the hard drives rev up, then it sounds like a small hammer is dropped onto a concrete surface and bounces twice, then I hear beep, beep from inside the MacPro.
A few minutes latter; drive rev up, ping ping like a hammer bounce, then two beeps.
This goes on and on every few minutes......it's friggen killing me.
Anyone have an any ideas? Maybe a hard drive dying? Thing is, I never heard this before this weekend.

Hard drives in the newer Macs are very quiet. Are you sure you are hearing a drive spin up and not a fan kicking in? It sounds to me the most likely culprit is a misbehaving fan. Make sure you have the latest SMC firmware installed on your Pro. Here is Apple's download site with info on the update:

  • My Iphone 4 was making a weird noise, it glitched for a minute, then a blue screen appeared, it turned off and won't turn back on at all. Please help!

Please help me! I will be so thankful!

Try a reset, hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.

  • Help-iPhone 5 is making the sound/vibrations as if I was receiving/sending txt-but I am not.  Anyone know why?

All of a sudden my iPhone 5 has been making my text sound and vibration when I am not even near my phone. I go and look at my ohone and it is in the locked screen still with no new text.  It also makes the sound (Swoosh) like it is sending a text when the phone hasn't been touched in a while.  I havent dropped it or anything for it to be doing this.  Could it have been hacked into?

Never mind. I've did a hard reboot no matter how hard I pressed the power button. Thank goodness!!!

  • My new Imac 24", 2.8GHz Intel Core is suddenly making a loud fan noise

    Please help!
This Imac is only a week old. I bought it on apple online store. This is 24" 2.8GHz Imac and it's been the best computer I've ever had. It was wonderful to work and silent until yesterday. And suddenly I can't stand the fan noise coming from my new Imac. I downloaded i-stat Pro to check the status of my computer and it reads *CPU fan:1198rpm, hard drive:1198rpm, optical drive: 4401rpm*
what is wrong with my computer?
I searched many mac forums, and I've tried many things including shutting it down and unplugging everything and replugging everything after a while, but nothing solves this problem. Does anybody have experienced this problem? I am not even using many applications. I am only using safari, and the fan is at full speed. SO LOUD! What can I do to solve this? Should I take it to apple to look at it?

    Hello lovingimac
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
That sounds like there is something wrong with the temp. sensor for the optical drive.
If carefully following the SMC reset instructions below, does not fix the fan issue:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303446-en
Then yes you need to make a trip to your local Apple service center.

  • My computer is all of sudden making a constant "fan" noise

For some reason my computer started today with a sound like a fan is constantly going.
Before this sound happened, my computer would not turn on. I proceeded to follow the steps (which I have to say is a royal pain in the butt to do) and yes, it finally turned on. But now I have this worry some noise as if it is over heating??
To further make matters even more confusing is now the battery indicator in the top right corner has an x in it and my battery charge indicator lights will not show up to tell me if my computer battery is fully charged AND my plug in cord's light does not turn on! The latter two problems just showed up AFTER my computer started up. The lights were before I had to turn the computer on the strange way. But now my computer is acting as though it doesn't recognize the battery! (It is the same battery!)

I checked into your link and followed the directions to a "T", but still no luck! My Macbook Pro is brand new, I just bought it last November. I do not believe my battery is no good since everything was working properly except the fact that it wouldn't turn on. I had a full charge on my battery and my plug in light WAS showing green. During the time when I was attempting to turn on my computer, I noticed the plug in indicator light had turned orange. Now I have no light on it at all. Also, I am still able to use my computer if it is unplugged.
    My problems continue to be:
    1) Sounds like my fan is continually on and will not turn off.
    2) My battery charge lights do not turn on.
    3) The battery indicator icon (top right corner) shows an "x" in the middle of it.
    4) My plug-in indicator light will not light up.
If my problem truly is the battery, what are my options? I don't even know how to get to the battery!

  • Macbook Pro Lid Making Very Loud Cracking Noises

I recently got my Macbook Pro 13" screen replaced for a pixel defect. When I opened and closed my lid, the lid moved smoothly from either position.
Now, it feels as if the lid has more resistance when I operate it. Worst of all, when it is at a 90 degree angle and I slowly retract it, the lid makes a very loud "crack" from the hinge. Could it be that the lid's screws are in too tightly?

You can try a SMC reset:

  • My MacBook Pro 2009 Fan is making a weird "revving" noise

    Hi,
This has started to happen recently on my 2009 13" MacBook Pro.
The fan, when running ANY higher than 2000 rpm makes a revving noise.
NOTE: This is COMPLETLEY different to just the high speed fan noise. I do know what that sounds like.
It sounds like the fan is somewhat scraping on something, but when I looked at it there doesnt appear to be anything in there.
When it runs a bit faster, it actually sounds like a revving engine... while running at the same speed.
This is no longer under the AppleCare warranty.
Here is a video of the noise... (its still processing but sh
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgFed4RMV-g

Replace the fans yourself, visit iFixit and other Mac places to order parts.
By the way, you didn't focus on the smcFan control's stats in the Finder to see the revving, barely can hear anything like revving at all, just a heavy blowing which is expected at 6000 RPM.
remake the video or lit's likely smc needs a update.

  • My iPod is making a weird clicking noise - says "do not disconnect"

Okay - it started with my iPod pausing at random times. With headphones - with the car kit - when nothing was touching it - just whenever it felt. Then, I plugged it into my computer to add some new songs I had purchased to it, and iTunes didn't recognise it. Even tho' the iPod said "Do Not Disconnect", Windows didn't see it either. Then the clicking started - it sounds like the internal disc is skipping. Or hitting against something. I downloaded the new iTunes and the iPod Updater. Neither will see the iPod (the Updater crashes anytime I plug the iPod in). I've reset the iPod. I can't completely restore it because the updater doesn't see it. Windows recognises it sometimes on the menu bar - but not in explorer. The iPod sounds like it's working pretty hard just to exist. I let it die all the way - same issues. HELP!!! I'm pretty much in tears.

I eventually brought it in to the Genius bar at my local Apple store and it turns out that it had a bad hard drive, which explains the clicking. Not a software problem at all!

  • My 160gb ipod classic messed up today when I was ejecting it from the computer and now when I turn it on a red x comes up telling me to go to support. It also is making a weird clicking noise... Any help?????

Hi! my ipod broke today after I tried to sync it. There is a red error message on the screen and it makes an obnoxious clicking. Any help??

i've had this same problem on my 30 gig 5th generation. about a year ago, i had the same problem, called Apple support, they wanted me to pay about $100 to fix it with no guarantee that it would work. I left it alone for a long time (months), charged it up again, clicked it on and it worked. Just a few days ago, I got the clicking sound again. I don't recommend this but, after pushing the menu and center buttons simultaneously and trying to charge the Ipod, I finally whacked it between my hands a few times and it stopped clicking. I charged it, then plugged it in to my computer. I got an error message "1437", which they recommend restoring the IPod to the factory settings. This wiped out all the stuff stored on my device. Now, I have to figure out how to get the stuff back on and avert the 1437 error message.
