IPhone 4 suddenly stopped connecting with home wireless network

Upon getting a new wifi router, initially my iPhone 4 connected. Last night I lost wifi conneciton on it and cannot get it back. Updated to IOS 7.1 to see if it would help. Nothing. Have reset network setings, gone into airplane mode and attempted hard restart. Have also reset modem. The phone worked on another wireless network and all other devices in our house are working fine. Does anyone have any insights/ had this problem before? House network is Bell Fibe.
The phone can see the wirless network but when we go to connect it infinetly spins.
Thanks!!

  • Imac and Macbook Pro suddenly stopped connecting to my wireless network

I am having the strangest problem. I've had a linksys router for years and my network has worked fine. I have a 2008 iMac, a new Mac Book Pro, Xbox 360, and a PS3 connected to it. Yesterday, the Apple products stopped connecting to the linksys, however the Xbox and PS3 connected fine. I thought it was my router being the problem so I went to Apple Store and bought an airport express to just set that up as my primary router. I could not set it up the normal way wirelessly as neither my iMac or MBP would pick it up via the Airport Utility tool. I had to hardwire it to my iMac to get it set up. It seemed to not be working however the green light did eventually come on. My xbox connected to it fine, however the iMac and MBP would not connect. Both did end up connecting but only for a short time and now neither can find the Airport Express. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what my problem is? It just doesnt make sense that both mac computers stopped picking up the linksys at the same time, and neither will really pick up the Airport express either. I'm just so distraught over this because I had everything working fine such as sharing files, wireless printer, Apple TV, etc.

Hi there, I have exactly the same problem, one year with imac and a few months ago my wireless network disconnected and kept disconnecting and connecting on and off, it's not the Internet because laptop and other aps are ok
Today I tried contacting Virginmedia to see if they could help and they told they are not trained for mac! Anyway they suggested to try to use the "renew DHCP lease" button in the TCP/IP page in network settings and it seems it is working better now, lets see if it lasts...

  • IMac suddenly stopped connecting to my wireless network

    Hi there,
I've had my iMac for about 2 years and had no problems up to now.
About two days ago my wireless network disconnected and kept disconnecting and connecting on and off, it's not the Internet because my iPod and pc are fine.
I was just wondering what could of caused this, a virus? Dodgy update install? Also how I can fix this? If I reinstall my os will it wipe my files, I'm a filmmaker so I need to keep pretty much everything on my computer
    Thank youuu!

Does the iOS devices connect to other networks?
Does the iOS devices see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Since both iPhone and iPod stopped connecting I suspect a problem with your network.

suddenly my iphone 4 stopped connecting to the 3g network although the 3g symbol is there on the left of the screen did this happen with anyone ??

Try turning on Airplane mode for 30 seconds (Settings>Airplane Mode>ON), then off.  See if you can connect to 3G now.

  • Why has my iphone has stopped connecting with itunes?

why has my iphone has stopped connecting with itunes?

You can try resetting your iPad and iPhone by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

  • Iphone 4s wifi suddenly stopped connecting to home network

My iphone 4s suddenly stopped connecting to my home wifi 2 weeks ago, now it won't even bring it up on the list of available networks. I have tried resetting network settings, have tried manually connecting but it says "unable to locate network". Why would this all of a sudden start doing this when I have had this phone for over a year. My husbands iphone 4 has no problems whatsoever and connects to our home network just fine so I know it is not the router. This is so frustrating

I'm currently suffering from this problem as well. If you or your husband can get your iPhone open, there may be a screw in the upper antenna area of the iPhone that is loose (this screw grounds the antenna to the chip/mainboard).
    http://www.iphoneshopusa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/top-shield-iphone4- wifi-problem1.png
It's pointed out in the image above. Many have tightened the screw and said their Wi-Fi optimally again. Having a phone for a year does mean a lot of wear-and-tear: dropping, vibration, heat, all accumulate so that the delicate components inside get knocked around and, in this case, loose. Try this method! (If you can, of course.)
    Good luck!

  • Suddenly can't connect to home wireless network

All of a sudden I can't connect to my home wireless network - always has worked perfectly.  Now I get a box asking for the password, and although I type it in correctly it keeps saying "incorrect password."  I thought I'd delete it and re-establish it, but it doesn't show up in the Managed Network settings.  Any ideas what is going on?

On the problem computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and delete all instances of the printer.
Next, print a Wireless Network Test from the front of the printer (Network menu).  Note the printer's IP address.
    1. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your network. Verify that you can access the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address before continuing.
    2. Click >> Start >> Control panel >> Printers.
    3. Click the Add a printer
    4. Select Local printer
    5. Select Create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port and click Next button.
    6. Under Device type, select TCP/IP Device. Under Hostname or IP address, enter the printer's IP address. Click Next.
    7. Select Hewlett-Packard from the list of manufacturers and select and select your printer model. Click Next.
If your printer model was not listed, then select Have Disk, browse the HP CD that came with your printer and select the first file that starts with hp and ends with inf. Click Open then OK. Select your printer model. Click Next.
    8. If you are asked, use the currently installed driver.
    9. It will ask for the Printer name -- enter a new name or use the existing one. This will be the name of the printer that you select from other applications.
    10. You may be asked to share the printer. Choose NO.
    11. The Print Test Page box appears. Go ahead and print it.
    12. Click Finish.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • IPhone 5 won't connect to home wireless network

After updating to iOS 7 my iPhone 5 has been unable to connect to the wireless network in my home.  It will recognize it, ask me to input password, and then it will say it cannot connect.  I have shut the iPhone 5 on/off, turned on/off the wireless, turned on/off the bluetooth, and attempted to install the latest iOS update (but cannot because it won't let me unless I am connected to wifi).
I am having this problem with my MacBook Pro as well.

There is something wrong with your wireless router or network - especially if you have no problem connecting your iPhone and MPB with any other wi-fi network besides your own.
Have you tried resetting your wireless router and network in conjunction with the modem, and/or have you checked the manufacturer's website to see if there is a firmware update available for your wireless router model that has not been installed?
What type of encryption are you using with your wireless network - WEP, or WPA2?

  • Unable to connect to home wireless network with my iPod touch

I've had my iTouch for several months now and I'm still not able to connect to my wireless network at home. I've tried the resets and other suggestions I've found in the discussion groups but nothing has worked.
I have an older Netgear Router MR814v2 and it is unsecured. It is attached to my old desktop, HP Pavilion running Windows ME, which is not able to run the itunes software. My HP laptop is where my iTouch and iTunes software is installed.
The iTouch displays my network with good signal strength, but when I try to connect I get the "unable to join the network "NETGEAR".
Going to my router, it does not recognize my iTouch as an attached device. Why is that and what am I missing?
Thank you for all suggestions and your help.

I tried powering down the router. When it's off the iTouch does not recognize the network and then when it's powered on again, the iTouch recognizes the network. Unlike the public wi-fi spots that my iTouch responds to, where all the info like IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router, DNS etc are populated in the settings...my iTouch does not populate these fields at home even though it recognizes the network. I still get the unable to connect to network error. Could it be that my router is antiquated and can not support the iTouch? Like I said earlier, my Router does not recognize the iTouch as being attached to it.

  • IPhone GPS location incorrect when connected to home wireless network

    Hi all,
My iPhone GPS works well except when I am at home and connect to my wireless network. It always gives the same incorrect location about 3km away from my house. When I turn wireless off then the phone gives my correct location.
I think it is somehow getting confused when connecting to my airport. (I wonder if it is showing the location of the local telephone exchange?)
Has anyone else encountered this problem or found a solution? Or can I somehow tell my airport where it is?
    Thanks!

A company called Skyhook Wireless maps WiFi and cell tower locations it scans. Apple uses this to help your GPS locate itself quicker. Here's how it works: http://www.skyhookwireless.com/inaction/apple.php

  • Macbook Air 2013 model stopped connecting to the wireless network

My 2013 MacBook Air has suddenly stopped connecting to my network. It is often intermittent and will kick me off the network if anyone else is connected. I think it is something to do with my Linksys router and the new Apple Airport card.
Do I need to get a new router and if so do I need the Apple Wireless router?

  • TS1398 how do i configure so i phone connects with home wireless automatically? currently, it connects to prior owners wireless since disconnected.

how do i configure wifi so my Iphone connects w home wireless automatically?

    Hi Tesserax
You could, but its benefits may depend on how you have it configured with the D-Link router. That is, do you have the TC directly connected to the D-Link by Ethernet or is it just wirelessly joining the D-Links' wireless network?
I have the TC connected via Ethernet cable.
I am assuming that you have the 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) configured as a wireless client so that it can join the D-Link's wireless network for iTunes streaming ... correct? If so, then it would be performing like any other wireless client (desktop, laptop, printer, etc.) and will not interfere with the D-Link's wireless network.
I rechecked the AE and you are correct that the AE is set to join a wireless network.
With having so many devices running on the wireless network, would it make sense to have a few device on each wireless system?(D-Link, TC, and AE)
I know it sounds like overkill, but there is the possibility that all the devices could be running at once. I'm not sure if that would cause any conflicts.
Is there any advantage to turning on the wireless on TC just for the iPhones for example or is it better to keep things as they are?(It works but is it efficient?)
Please be aware I'm not fully knowledgeable with wireless routers and their capabilities.

  • New Airport Express - interfering with home wireless network?

I have an IMac and laptop PC both connected to a wireless home network. I plugged in the new Airport Express, and ran a Toslink cable to my home stereo. My intent is to stream music from the IMac.
When I plug in the AExp I get a flashing amber, then the green light, then flashing amber. I asked the AExp to "join" my network. Soon after the first green light the home wireless connection is unavailable to both my IMac and PC laptop. If I unplug the AExp then the laptop PC reconnects to the network. With the AExp unplugged I also must have "Turn On AirPort" on the IMac to have the internet status as "connected".
Basic problem: when I plug in the AExp both home computers disconnect from the home wireless network.
Any suggestions to getting the AExp to work within the home wireless network?

First, perform a "factory default" reset on the 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) to get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration.
Then take a look at the following steps to be sure that nothing was missed:
AirPort Express Base Station (AX) - iTunes Setup
Either connect to the AX's wireless network or connect directly, using an Ethernet cable, to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then using the AirPort Utility in "Manual Setup" mode, make the following changes:
AirPort Utility > Select the AX > Manual Setup > AirPort > Wireless tab
Wireless Mode: Join a wireless network
Network Name: <existing wireless network name>
Wireless Security: <select the encryption type of the existing wireless network>
Wireless Password: <enter the existing wireless network password>
AirPort Utility > Select the AX > Manual Setup > Music
    Enable AirTunes (checked)
iTunes Speaker Name: <enter the desired speaker name>
    iTunes Speaker Password: (optional)
    Verify Password: (optional)
Click Update to write the new settings ot the AX
