IPHONE 4 Temperature too hot needs to cool down????

I waited 12 hours in line for my iphone 4 and got it today. Got it activated in the store, worked fine. When I got home, it started saying "Temperature too hot, needs to cool down". It wont let me charge or sync. The phone is not even warm, as I had not used it since i left the store..I have waited a few hours and I am getting concerned. Any advice please?

No it's not. The directions given are for a Reset and no matter what you call it, following those directions will not erase any data or settings and will certainly not restore the phone to it's original state. I've done this hundreds of times and it's like rebooting a computer - nothing is lost.

Unplug the phone and let it cool down before you do anything else. Put it out of bright sunlight. If it cools down and lets you turn it on again, it may be alright. However, I would monitor it carefully when charging it. If it won't turn on or heats up, make an appointment at your local Apple Store. Be sure to take both the phone and the charger with you.

a friend's ipad got the too hot error message earlier this afternoon, despite the device never having been used outside and having been inside in a 68 degree house at the time. was being used to watch YouTube videos primarily.
let the device cool down.
then they got the blue screen, and now the device won't power up, acknowledge power cord plugged in, or reboot at all. no apple screen, no slider, nothing.
i'm guessing the device is totally bricked.
anyone have any other suggestions, before we call tech support (it's a company-owned device, not personal, and only purchased in september 2012 so still under warranty).

Hi Buddy! Well I was up 'til 5am and NOTHING changed on the indicator lights OR the computer...gave it 'til I got up today (11am ish) and still NOTHING!(Just my power bill going up LOL) However, if I turn it off, back on, off, back on THEN press alt+f10 BEFORE it starts 'circling' I get: "preparing repair" right away which gets my hopes up BUT nothing.OK. So I have gone to look at the option of buying repair discs like you suggested, but the bleeping store web page keeps coming up "sorry ...we are aware of this problem...we are working on it" all in red ink. Yup, right, like you have great customer service too, yeah? grrrrrAnyhoo, wondering about this:a) could something be LOOSE? A neighbour told me her son had the EXACT same model and problem and just the RAM was loose. He had to pay $$ a technician just to fix that which took about 5sec. Could that be the case here? Something loose?b) Should/could I open the computer and check myself? What does the RAM board look like? Can I find a diagram somewhere that shows me a map of the inside of the computer? I am a craftsperson (jewelry) and I am quite confident I have the tools to open it and look inside...What do you think?

So bring it to Apple for evaluation. Can you not figure that out by yourself?

My phone intermittently States that the temperature is too high and so needs to cool down!! Howeve, it feels cold and I am only able to shut it down to restart it. This only temporarily resolves the problem. This started when battery was replaced.

Iphone 5 is stating that the phone is too hot and needs to cool down before it can be used. However the phone actually feels cold!! I can turn the phone off and restart it which temporarily resolves the issue. this issue stated once Apple replaced my battery. Any solutions or idease??

Getting "iPhone needs to cool down" warning while using Apple Maps

I bought the iPhone 6 yesterday and today I used the Apple Maps navigation on it. Not 30 mins into the navigation I got following warning from the phone "iPhone needs to cool down". 30 minutes of GPS usage is not too much. This happened twice. Are other ppl. having the same issue or is it just my phone?

IPhone 6 shows needs to cool down

my brand new iPhone 6, out from box is faulty.
it shows it need to be cool down before use.I couldn't activate the phone.
Operating temp 55-60 F. Apple accepted return and it will replace with new one.
color gold.

My wife came in from a walk and it was -12 degrees. The phone was in an outside pocket, and was as cold as ice. she received the error message that her phone was to hot and needed to cool down. She let it warm up, and now is working fine.

A tip is avoid doing things that eat up battery power right after it has been charging. Charging any battery will naturally make the battery temperature go up, followed by activities that drain a battery like heavy internet browsing in combo can make the temperature get to the point where the fail safe kicks in to prevent an over heat.

Anyone's iPhone say "temperature" (too hot) and not be even warm?

There was no environment change in the temperature where my iphone has been, the phone wasn't even warm. The phone gave the "temperature" warning saying it needed to cool down before using and gave me an option to make an emergency phone call.
The tech support lady on the phone (I called on another phone) said there was something wrong and I needed to pay $ for assistance or get another phone. Since I just received the phone in February (on Verizon) I certainly do not think I need to pay for something that is clearly a hardware issue.
I plugged in to my itunes hoping to reset. There was an update available, but now the iphone won't even turn on.
Any suggestions or anyone else have this problem? How did you resolve it?

It seems alike an hardware problem, you need ask for assistance in terms of the contract you done with Verizon. Most likely the operator told you the procedure for get a generic replacement, I guess this not the case. Call Verizon service and tell them they have provided you a not working phone.
Anyway, besides voice calls with operators, correct procedure is written in your contract, read it and apply accordly.

We're fellow users, STOP YELLING AT US! At the very least, get your CAPS lock key fixed.
The device was dropped in water, it is damaged, take it to Apple along with cash or a credit card and get an Out of Warranty replacement.

IPad shows a message "iPad needs to cool down", but it is not hot or even warm

I have used my iPad 2 days, and when I just turned it on, 5 minutes later a message appeared:
"TEMPERATURE
iPad needs to cool down before you can use it."
The message disappeares after 2-3 minutes, and then again, after 5 minutes it appears.
The device in not heated, it is not warm, and I do not overload it with different activities.
What can I do?

I think you have hardware problem. Bring it to Apple for a check.

Temperature ipod needs to cool down comes on

Temperature caution icon comes on and says i pod needs to cool down, but have not been usig it or charging it.

Unles you are in a very high place or the iPod is in direct sunlight, there is something wrong with your iPod.
The error will go down when the iPod cools enough.

I've done a restore which made no difference.
