IPhone 4 turns off during factory restore
My iPhone recently turned itself off for no reason. Since then, I've been trying to restore it with little success.
I've repeatedly put the phone into recovery mode and attempted a factory restore, and this has only worked three times out of several dozen, due to the phone turning off in the middle of recovery.
On the occasions where the restore worked, the iPhone functioned normally for several hours before turning itself off again and repeating the cycle.
The phone (before successful recovery) will not turn on unless plugged in. When the phone isn't in recovery mode, the screen repeatedly displays the apple logo before turning itself off before displaying the apple logo again, so on so forth.
In brief, factory restore only works very rarely and when it does the phone only works for a few hours before requiring another restore.
Restore as new, without using a backup. If this continues, there is certainly a hardware problem.

Apologies if this has been raised a million times before, i have tried to search for an answer..
As the title says my phone turned off during a factory reset as the battery was obviously low. probably happened 1-2 minutes into it actually.
Now it wont get past the apple logo screen. I have tried to reset the phone using the home + power key but nothing happens. it turns off then when i turn it back on it goes back to the apple logo screen, then will turn off.
Ive plugged the phone into my laptop and that wont read it either.
I hope i havent ruined the phone by it turning off during factory resetting ? Can anyone suggest anything to fix this problem ?

Turn off your phone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the the iPhone to turn off. If you cannot turn off your phone using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When your phone turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons. Then, leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. After restoring from backup, you must sync to restore your iTunes content. -

My iPhone kept telling me I needed to update to the new iOS 5 software for some of my apps to update. So I plugged it in and started the update. But then my phone kept turning itself on and off. I put it into recovery mode & then tried to restore it. But it goes through as if to start the restore ie. extracting software, preparing to restore etc - the little loading bar comes up under the apple logo on my phone but then my phone just turns off.
I really need my phone back & I can't afford to buy another one which was what an apple store suggested - they didn't even do anything different to what I'd tried! I've only got a few months of my contract left until I can upgrade and I can't upgrade early. Is there anything anyone can suggest to get my phone working?? PLEASE?!
Thanks xThis Error code is most often given when Apple cannot communicate with the iPhone. Make sure your iTunes is current and is up to date. Click the iTunes Tab at the top of this Web Page and get current iTunes. If still problem, make sure the computer Hosts file is not blocking Apple Servers. Try a different computer.

Iphone 6 turns off during phone calls

This happens intermittently when making a phone call. Screen goes dark, -cannot bring screen back on and have to shutdown the phone and restart.
Any ideas as to where to start to resolve this?KBurd,
If the proximity sensor is covered by a case, your hand, or by being close to your face, the screen should go dark and unresponsive, but the call should not be disconnected.
Is there anything covering the proximity sensor? It is located between the earpiece and the top edge.

I tried to restore my iphone 5s but it shut off during the restore and wont turn back on I tried reseting it with the home and power button but it doesnt work and I tried connecting it to itunes but it doesnt show up

You may have a defective proximity sensor but try some basic troubleshooting first...
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
If still a problem restore with your backup.
If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue. -
I updated my iphone 4 to ios7.04 in itunes. In itunes, it appears that all my data/apps/music/etc are on the phone (but I cannot see anything on phone itself except setup screens). I am getting the ios7 setup screen on my iphone. I have selected my language, selected my wifi netowork, enabled location services, and chosen resore from itunes back up. Next screen I get says to connec to itunes, which I did. In itunes, I select restore from backup. I then get a message that I need to disable "find my iphone " "Go to iCloud Settings on your iPhone and turn off Find My iPhone before restoring your iPhone." I cannot go to any settings on my iphone as I cannot get past the connect to iturnes screen! I have also tried not enabling location services and that made no difference. I cannot get to anyplace on my iphone except the ios setup first few screens. I am going crazy, there must be some simple thing I have missed! Any help appreciated!
I found a way to get to my data. So do not need remedy at this time.
fwiw, I changed my ios7.04 setup answer of restore from itunes to new iphone. Eventually that allowed me to set up icloud, then turn off find iphone, restore. Very strange ios update. -

If you are the original owner of the phone and know the Apple ID and password that were used to activate it originally, and if you have an existing backup to restore from, you can force it into recovery mode (which will completely erase it) and restore it as explained here: If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support. When you do you will encounter activation lock, and will have to provide the ID and password used to activate it originally in order to activate it again. If you can't, you won't be able to activate and use it.

I have an iphone4 I updated to iOS8.2 this ruined my phone. The bloke in Apple store told me to reset my phone. Whilst it was in the reset mode it froze meaning it was a brick! I couldn't get rid of the apple logo and iTunes was not recognising my phone!!

Also, if this only happens with one Wi-Fi network, power cycle that Wi-Fi router.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order. -

To make sure that this is not software related, set it back to factory settings, without using any backup data afterwards. Set up the rest of the personal settings manually and test the phone. If it still does not work, this is a hardware issue and the phone has to be serviced by Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider:
