Iphone 4 updating to 5.0
Hi,
i am trying to update my iphone 4 to the new Software 5.0. It will back up and extract the Software for the update and when it is about to start it will say - device is not eligible for the requested rebuild??
I have no idea how to solve the problem.
By updating / downgrating it on an older version of my itunes i think i have lost lots of data already? when downloading the iphone software on my older pc it says - the network has encountered a problem - timeout of the network kind of thing.......?
I am frustrated. I did once try to unlock my iphone 3 G after having the new iphone 4 to be able to use that phone abroad for work. I think since then i can not update my phone anymore?
I had to add a line in my hosts file. now i cant remember what i have added - not sure now what to delete neither. Did some things already but it wont let me safe the changes in my hosts file to solve the problem - like most of the forums described in google.
it would be great to get some help to "reset" my iphone and update it to Software version 5.0

Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars> make sure that for all the accounts listed the contacts are ON.

I check my Apps on my MacBook and it says there is 1 update but when I check that there are none.
Then I sync my iPhone with my MacBook and my iPhone says there are 7 updates for my Apps.
This is very confusing. I wish someone could fix this and make it simple and accurate to use.Sometimes the update notification comes on but updates themselves do not appear if the iOS is not appropriate for the update. For example, I have an original iPad, thus limited to iOS 5.1.1, but an app I use has an update that requires iOS 6.1.3. So I have a consistent update notification but cannot get the update. So, check your iOS and see if it is up to date.

I had over 200 e-mails. I went to my webmail and deleted most of them. However, my iPhone still shows 200 e-mails. How can I force my iPhone to update from the e-mail server? Or will I have to delete each e-mail from my iPhone as well? Thanks.
You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

itune: 11.2.2.3; ios 7.1.1
iPhone 5 app updated fine from PC, but will not sync with iPhone.
Steps: Fire iTunes from PC, then connect iPhone, did app updates in iTunes, but did not sync with iPhone (the # updates stays the same next to "APP Store").
It worked fine for iPad App updates. I tried connect, disconnect, did not work. I also read some posted comments, but still cannot resolve the problem. Please help. Thanks!Hello there, graced.

Hi could anyone help me out? my iphone 3gs keeps restarting itself every two minutes which i think is some kind of software issue,now there are a number of things i have done starting with putting in a new battery.when i charge the phone it resets itself every two minutes or so and the battery indicator stays at 4% so i decided to restore the phone on itunes (which is the latest edition) and when i connect my phone which i have put into recovery mode using the buttons, i get an error message saying :- the iphone software update server could not be contacted.a duplicate file name was specified. i have tried re-installing i tunes and that doesn't solve the issue and i have trawled through the program files to see if i could spot the duplicate but without success ,has anyone had the same issue and resolved it?
An iPhone 3G cannot be updated beyond iOS 4.2.1...that's the end of the line for your phone.

Thanks but I have tried doing the above - when I said 7 times I was modest, its more like 15 times.
And I am referring to the 5.1 software update. I dont have wifi so I guess I will have to try that seeing that my husband also has the same problem - he has also tried downloading several times. It always times out en says that the connection is lost but yet there are always an internet connection and a decent signal once it stopped. Think it said error 32052 or something!
I am disappointed because the update includes inprovement on the battery life - did you guys notice any difference? -
I just updated my iPhone 4s to iOS7. I had an old iCloud account on it that I have closed. How do i delete the account on the iPhone and update it to my new account?
I keep having this problem too, no one seems to know how to fix it. Can't delete the account without turning off the 'find my iphone' app. Cant' turn it off without the ID....it's a vicious cycle.

If you have been seeing higher cellular data usage while you are on WiFi, good news, Verizon has fixed this bug. All you need to do is update your Carrier Settings to 13.1 and the bug is fixed.

I'm using the iPhone 5 now under Carrier M1 Singapore 13.0 and I have noted that over a period of 2 weeks, my cellular data usage has been about 2.7GB on an average. Since I know my bill has been capped at 3GB, I have since switched off my cellular data.
However, when I switched it on for a few days after using it for awhile, my cellular usage jumped by 1.2GB in just 1 day! And I used it as I would on an average day (like during an average day in the 2 weeks)!
I understand that there have been reports of a bug that have caused this problem in the US.

You will need Mac OS 10.5.8 or later in order to get itunes 10.5 or later, in order to connect your iphone. -
goodnight. as you know apple has evolved considerably until today but there are people who do not have ability to buy new products. in my case I would like to know why the apple do not let the iphone 3g update to iOS 4.3 as are several applications that can not put on my iphone 3g due to this reason. Why does not Apple make a repository with applications for ios 4.2.1? or else do not work in an update to ios 4.3 on iphone 3g?
This has nothing to do with Apple, as Apple does not make the apps.
This is the decision of the app maker.
Contact those app makers and ask them why they do this. -
Error while downloading iPhone app updates
Yesterday I tried to download two iPhone app updates. The app store showed the two updates that were available, but when I tried to update them, it kept giving me an error message saying that my iTunes store request could not be completed. I am up to date on iPhone, iTunes, and OS X software, so I don't know why it did this. I had no problem downloading the updates directly to my iPhone. Any ideas? I did catch my wife a few weeks ago plugging her iPhone into the Mac while I was logged in (we have separate user accounts on the computer). I immediately ejected it from iTunes and unplugged it. I didn't notice any changes after that, either in my iTunes library or on her iPhone. Did this make any changes that I may not have noticed? Also, this past weekend I purchased some music in my iTunes account and had no problems downloading it and syncing it to my iPod.
Edit: I guess I should have seen the Error 5002 thread. That is what mine is doing. Itunes account set for 1-click. No problem on iPod, just on iPhone apps.I'm having the same problem. The download finishes and then it says an unknown error occurred. It says it has something to do with my network connection, but I don't think that's the problem.
Did you find a solution yet?
I tried to reinstall iTunes but it didn't work.
