IPhone 4 VAT refund query

Hi,
I'm from India, & will be buying iPhone (sim-free) in UK, during my visit to UK in August.
I had some query regarding VAT refund for my iPhone 4:
I called up 2 UK stores, regarding the same, but couldn't get them resolved !
1. There's a 17.5% VAT on iphone purchase,
Bath, South gate store told me, they refund the VAT at store itself, Where else Regent street store told me, i have to get it at the Airport ?
2. Do i get full 17.5% refund, or is there a Admin charge on this refund,
Bath, South gate store told, there's no Admin charge, where as Regent street store told me, that VAT refund gets reduced to 13%, due to some Admin charge !
Kindly answer these queries.

Hey, I just checked the HMRC website and it does say
"First, you need to choose a shop that operates the VAT Retail Export Scheme. It's a voluntary scheme and not all shops operate it, so you need to check before you buy anything."
So you'll need to double check the Apple store you plan on visiting does operate the VAT scheme.
It also says;
"You may not get all the VAT back. The retailer and/or the refund company may make a charge to cover the cost of handling your form. If they do, this will be deducted from your refund before you receive it."
So it does appear the reduction to 13% due to the handling charge may be legitimate.

Usually those refunds are only made if you leave the country within 30 days of purchase, but you'll have to inquire there. We don't know the UK's policy on VAT refunds.

The later is because iPhones are priced and warranted ONLY within the Domain of sale (only within the EU are they obliged to provide limited cross border warrantees by EU law)
Other Apple gear can be bought at some airside stores for export outside the EU VAT free .

When I go to europe and head back to the states I can go to customs at their airport i.e france, italy or germany and get VAT refund for all the purchases I made. It does not work the other way around. purchase in the US heading back to europe as far as I know but you can ask US customs at the airport if they do such thing, just make sure you have copies of your receipts.

So, NO, you cannot get a VAT refund for an Internet purchase of your iDevice.

Do i get VAT refund if buy macbook here online and plan to go back to my country soon?

As VAT refund is the policy for tourists in thailand, so if i buy a macbook Pro here online (as i have to config). will i get VAT refund? And if yes, how would i get the form?

Go back and ask them to do it right ... re-installling ML, then copy ONLY DATA this time from Lion to ML.
If you prefer to have rights to an ML download to use on other Macs in the household, then you may ask for a free copy of ML instead and upgrade yourself.

How can I get a VAT refund for my iphone 6

I just bought an iphone 6 at the store. I got the tax refund form and I am pretty sure that I am eligible to get the tax refund at the airport. The only problem is that I am not sure whether I can activate now or I have to wait after getting the refund to activate my phone. Do I have to keep my phone in box to get the tax refund?

IPhone 4 case refunds??

I've heard on the news that Apple is offering refunds to those who purchased a case when they initially got their iPhones as part of the "death grip" fix... I went to the store where I bought my case and phone but they said I would have to take the matter up with Apple because it had nothing to do with AT&T... I went to the Apple iPhone pages and the Apple iPhone support pages and have found no mention of it whatsoever.... Anyone know the process or secret password to getting back the 29 bucks Apple is telling the world they are refunding?? I get the funny feeling the powerful wizards of Oz are flipping switches and yanking levers all designed to give the impression there is big doing transpiring when in all actuality they are playing dead as we try to roll them over to get our lousy $29 back...

The answer to that is simple... As I hope I stated at the onset, I have only heard the reporting via the news networks and they failed to mention Steve Jobs' apparent report that he'd figure out how to refund people's $29 over a 2 week period... Of course he figured out how to finish and release the iPhone 4 in the 2 week period beginning the day they said the EVO 4G would hit the market but nevertheless, I never heard a word Mr. Jobs actually said... And that is not by accident either... I have heard a few things he's said on this issue and have since decided that it is probably best not to listen... I am by no mean a genius but I am smart enough to know what double talk is and his on this issue is fact and nothing less... As for the refund I am extremely busy and have little time to play games, figuratively and literally... All I want to know is where I get my $29 and what hoops I'll have to jump thru to get it...
As for the undercurrent that asking a question like this is somehow out of bounds or some level of "Jim Jones" blasphemy, well... Let's just say it's not hard to see why Mr. Jobs thinks even a half thought out, lousy lie will suffice... It would have taken 1 person at Apple 1 hour to add a simple link that read "details on the refunds will be posted on or before" whatever date... I visited the site in search of that single ounce of consideration and found nothing... I came here and asked it and we all see how that went... That leaves the moral of the story as this... I am based in the Channel Islands and want VAT refunded

I'm based in Jersey, Channel Islands, which is 0 rated for VAT so would like the VAT on my monthly subscription refunded. How do I get that to happen as over the year it will total £60 of unnecessary expenditure.

I sort of got an answer and no I havent got a refund yet.
Essentially, because we are not part of the EU in the Channel Islands, we're classed in a peculiar bracket of what I can only call "rogue" states and in theory, we shouldn't have the adobe suite as they wont sell it to us! in order to get a refund you'd have to buy the software from a licensed reseller in the UK and then get the refund of the VAT from them - BUT I havent worked out in practice how that would work and as I've already set up my account for the CC suite, I'm not entirely sure if that would mean I'd have to cancel it all and re-start.
Basically, I've been very busy with work recently and haven't pursued the matter any further - but do let me know you get any further.

Balance Refund Query

Hi,
I called up yesterday as there has been no direct debit taken from my account for this month. I'm aware of the bank holidays etc but usually my bank will show what DD's are due out within the next few days (eg. everything that should come out today is showing as debiting tomorrow)
When I called up I was advised that because my account is in credit (£130 and some odd pounds) that this would be credited to my actual bank account rather than being left on as credit on my BT account. I was also informed that my next payment isn't due to July because I've recently been put on a new broadband/tv/calls contract..
Obviously I was quite pleased at this but I'm just a bit confused as I didn't expect the credit to be physically refunded for me.
My main query is...I've tried to look online on MyBT about the refund and how much credit i'm in etc. etc. and in fact if the amount has been refunded to me however I cannot find a link or anyway to view the "manage payments" option? Obviously £130 is going to be a big help to me and I want to double check it is actually coming my way.
Would someone be able to direct me or perhaps a mod would be able to check my account as to the refund status? I've tried calling on 150 but they're obviusly closed today.

IPhone 4 Bumper Refund

Has anyone else not received the email from Apple stating that their refund has been processed?
I bought a bumper a few weeks ago from the Apple online store but still haven't received anything from Apple.

Iphone 4 set up query have a brand new iphone 4, I have plugged it in using the wall charger and it does not seem to be doing anything. Trying to turn it on it is not working either. Is there some vital part of set up I have missed or is this a dud??

I have just received a brand new iphone 4 in the mail. I have plugged it in using the apple wall charger for around 3 hours now and it does not seem to be doing anything. Tried to plug it into the computer, again no response. Trying to turn it on has not had any success either. Should I be concerned that the screen is blank and not showing a charging symbol?? Have I missed some vital step in set up??

Try resetting the phone:
Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release.
Then, launch iTunes & connect your phone...what happens?

Iphone set up - syncing query on multiple pc's

I currently have an iphone & 3 ipods snynced to my itunes library on my pc.
I have just purchased an additional iphone for my Wife, and would be grateful for some advice as to how I should go about setting it up before I start.
Is it possible to sync the new iphone with the itunes library from my pc, and also sync it with the outlook contacts & calendar on my Wife's pc?

You are going to need iTunes on your wife's computer in order to sync contacts and calendars.

IPhone 4S Factory Unlocked Query

Hi folks, so I ran into this situation below:
I bought the iPhone 4S factory unlocked at full price of $649 from the Apple store at Yorkdale Mall in Toronto, Canada and they even told me it was factory unlocked. They asked me if I needed one of the Big 3 sims, but I politely declined. I bought it because I visit the US quiet often and I am with Bell Mobility. I activated the phone on Bell but before going to the US this weekend, I had a hunch that something is wrong. I called up Apple and provided the serial # based on the receipt/on the phone and they said the phone is locked to Bell.
So does that mean its permanently locked to Bell and cannot be used with another carrier? Or does that mean it is locked to Bell at the moment?
Plus I told myself people usually don't pay full price for an iPhone from the Apple store that's locked to a carrier, and Apple usually sells the carrier ones at the subsidized contract pricing. Or do they even sell carrier locked ones for full price?
Any input on this will be helpful.

I have had a similar problem. I live in Uganda , but quite travel a lot. I bought an unlocked iPhone 4s from Apple Store Broadway, Australia for 899$ . It was activated at the apple store , but we did not put in a sim card.
Back in Kampala , I put in an Orange Uganda SIM card , which was in my iPAD , and it worked for some time.
After sometime , we bought a sim card for it, from Orange Uganda , but unfortunately it did not work. It asked for activation.
After troubleshooting for sometime , we dicided to reset the phone , and everything is now down. I can not even start the phone without a sim card.
I am waiting for Monday to call the Apple Store, because clearly , this would be unfortunate. Remember , I live in Uganda where there are no Apple Stores , so a visit is out of the question
