IPhone 4 Verizon weak wifi

I have a Verizon iPhone 4 and I have a weak wifi connection and i wanted to know where the 2 connection screws are

A full restore is what I am trying to do, but my iCloud 'won't let me'. I can now connect my iPhone with my computer, but in order to restore it I need to disable 'Find My iPhone', which iCloud will not let me do through my phone, nor will it let me disable iCloud all together. I also cannot restore my iPhone through wi-fi because iCloud is 'restricting' me to do so. But since iCloud Control Center can only be downloaded to PCs with Windows 7 or 8 I cannot download iCloud Control Center to disable iCloud/ reset my phone from there, because I only have Windows Vista.

  • Anyone still having iPhone 5 Weak Wifi issues?

I'm sure this issue must be staring me in the face on these forums, but it seems like most iPhone 5 WiFi-related discussions are related to the Verizon update issue.  Most of the time, my iPhone very strong WiFi signal (as I should) coming from a nearby Airport Extreme.  Occasionally, when I return into my WiFi zone (coming home from work, etc.), the signal is shown as weak (only one bar).  WiFi On/Off & Airplane mode On/Off have no effect, while restarting the phone DOES return everything to normal.  Throughout these events, all other devices (iPod Touches & iPhone 4 with iOS 6 installed, iMac, etc.) show consistent "strong" WiFi.  The issue is limited to the iPhone 5.
Is this an issue that others are experiencing?  (If so, and thread links would be appreciated)

Dan, Apple's not here so imploring them on this forum to fix your phone makes you look ridiculous.
If you have bad WiFi connectivity and you've tried all the troubleshooting steps including restoring your phone as a NEW device (not using backup at all) and you still have issues, bring your phone into Apple for evaluation.

  • Iphone 4 weak WIFI reception...

So, I have a Netgear WNDR3700 router.  I expect it to be super fast, with my apple product.
So, it is in the living room, which is two walls away from my kitchen.  One of the wall has pipes in it, so you can treat it as 2 walls if you want.  They are all brick walls if not just dry walls, not concrete.
Anyway, I found, when I had a 11g router, I was able to do the facetime in the kitchen, after the router upgrading, at very beginning, I was able to, now I bearly can.  I containly see my iphone drops off the wifi network then reconnects to it.
Initially i thought it was the router, i tried different settings and it didn't work.  Then I tried my windows laptop, macbook, and ipad.  They can stay connected fine.   I dont have problems iwth ipad and macbook using facetime.   I used the wifi program to see the signal strength and I did see it drops but not enough to make any devices but the iphone to disconnect from it.
So think it might be the phone?  It is a refurbished one exchanged by apple.  I took it to the genious bar.  As you know, it is very hard to reproduce the issue in the store with wifi signal is stronge (like at home, i don't have problems every where else but the kitchen).  Apearently there is no tools to test the antena... and 'apple behavior' program didn't diagonse the anything wrong.  So basically they just told me there is nothing wrong with the phone and blamed the router.
I am not sure if anyone has the similar issue?  Or iphone just is known for weaker reception on WIFI.    Or, is there anyway I can adjust to make things better.  I have already done the reset on the network, it didn't work.
    Thanks.

    two things you can try
    1. reset you won't lose any data, hold down the home/power button together until you see the apple logo and then release.  wait for the phone to boot back up or
    2.  Settings - general - reset - reset network settings.   this will clear out the wifi memory on your phone, then when you turn wifi back on, you'll need to enter the password again.
    See if that helps out.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • IOS 6 weak wifi & push notification problems..

After upgrading my iphone 4G to IOS 6.1.2 , I do not recieve any push notifications from mail app and also from all other apps that I configured to use push notification service when my iphone is connected to any wifi network even my home wifi network but I noticed that when I connect iphone to 3G network, it recieve all push notifications without any problem nor delay and also noticed that iphone show weaker wifi signal when connected to my home wifi network compare to what it used to show when it was in IOS 5.. so why my iphone refuse to recieve push notifications when it is connected to wifi network and why recieving of wifi signal became weak  ??
and u should know that these problems occured only after upgrading to IOS 6 and I tried to reset network settings and even do full restore to iphone many times but these problems still persist

I wish I could help you but unfortunately I can not even help myself & I think that IOS 6 is the worest firmware Apple released till now as it full of bugs affecting Maps,WiFi,3G,Push notifications,Lock screen,Music app and Battery life make me feel that I am using android device not iphone ..what is wrong with you Apple?

  • Iphone 5s on Verizon Network  Wifi not working Wifi keeps coming in and out

I just recently purchased the Iphone 5s from Bestbuy and I have noticed that my data usage is enormous. I haven't even had the phone for a week but my data usage is almost at 50% of my monthly capacity. I have my iphone connected to WIFI always when I am at home and work. The majority of my day I am in a building with WIFI. I called Verizon to figure this thing out and they said that my WIFI connection keeps coming in and out and that is why I have used so much data. Is there a way this can be fixed or should I return my phone? The Verizon Wireless Rep told me there is an issue with the WIFI but since I am new to iphone I just wanted to try everything before I return the phone. I have AT&T U-verse cable and internet. I never had a problem with the WIFI on my Galaxy S3. The wireless icon always appears to be on but the REP told me that isn't always the best indicator that the phone is using purely WIFI.

In the US, Apple handles all iPhone warranty/support issues. So, make an appointment at any Apple store.

  • Iphone 3GS very weak wifi signal since 4.3.3 update

Ever since i update to 4.3.3 (which I'm regretting now) my iphone will not connect to my wifi router unless I'm less than 3 feet from it.
My wife has a 1st gen IPod touch (which hasn't been updated) can pick up the wifi and connect to the wed with it upto 30 feet from the router, as my iphone used to.
Is this a 3GS issue as i've read some other posts about a similar problem. I'm not willing to accept this as a hardware problem as the minute before the updating to 4.3.3 my wifi signal strength was prefect, the minute after the update was complete the signal strength was and still is worse than sh*$e.
I have done all the power down resets as suggested on other posts, but it doesn't work.
Is there anybody out there that can tell me how to (if possible) to revert back to 4.3.2?????????????????????????????????????
    RLB

I don't have the answer to this issue but I'm experiencing the exact same problem.
Since 4.3.3 my wifi signal strength is close to nothing. When I'm 3 feet away from any router, at home or at work, I have 3 bars not even full reception. As soon as I walk a few yards away from the router, I lose the connection completely.
I've tried everything to fix this. Reset network settings, turning off Bluetooth, disabling location services, full restore, reconfiguring routers, etc. but nothing works. I'm now using the iOS 5 Beta 3 and still no improvement to this issue.
In this thread there seems to be some recognition from Apple that this is a known problem and indeed a software bug. Hard to know if it's true though:

I was hoping it is just a software issue, but...
Saw may web sites discussing this same issue; many discussions point to hardware problems but there is no official word from Apple about it, which is disapointing !??  Few discussions point to software problem with solutions based on try and error, and they don't seem to work.

did not help at all; the problem continues the same

  • Airport Extreme (5 Gen) suddenly very weak Wifi signal

Hello, everyone.  I have a 5th generation Airport Extreme that was working fine until a few days ago.  My power had gone out, and since then I am getting a very weak Wifi signal.  The network still appears and connects on all of my devices.  However, it is dreadfully slow (0.3 MB/s per Speedtest.net), whereas before it was 50 MB/s.  I have tried resetting to factory settings and opening up the option to 5GHz.  The 5 GHz wireless network works just fine on my iMac.  It doesn't show up as an option on my iPhone, though, and that's what's really bugging me.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem and can help me out.  Of course, my phone support expired a few months ago and now they want $19 for a tech call.  Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Reset to factory again.
Setup again using all short names, no spaces and pure alphanumeric. If you were doing this make sure you use different names. Empty all the old names from the clients so they start over with fresh clean setup for wifi.
Use a different name for 5ghz.
Use fixed channels.. try 1, 6, 11 for 2.4ghz and try 36, and 150 for 5ghz.. around about.. exact channel is not such a big thing for 5ghz.
Check the link speed and make sure it is full speed if you are in the same room as the AE.
Test by copying a file on the local lan.. rather than testing to internet which could be a totally unrelated issue.
Test by using ethernet only on a computer plugged into the AE to see if the internet link has gone slow.

  • IPhone 5 weak signal become iPhone being tempered with no serial number. Horrified!

I faced weak wifi signal problem with my new iPhone 5. Hence i went to the service provider, Singtel  to check the problem and was told after they open up my iPhone that there was no serial no. inside the phone. As such, they  were not able to help me cos mine was a tempered product.
    But,
    1. I received the new iphone from Singtel by renewing my contract. How would I know the phone was tempered.
    2. I was not there when the phone was opened, as they took the phone into their backend room. How would I know if Singtel tempered it themselves?
The chance is low but who knows. Afterall, this is the same logic they gave me, since they say they don't hold responsibility for tempered phone as they won't be sure if I have tempered the phone even though the chance is low. Obviously, I would be real dumb to not expect they would open the device to check if I really wanted to cheat.. And for a corporate phone, it has to be a really desperate person to want to resort this.
    3. If I had not observed the wifi signal weakness, I won't have even bothered to go to the service centre. In fact I was still holding on to my iPhone 4 and resisted to switch as all my data was there. I switched only when my singtel cut my iPhone 4 service and i had to activate my iPhone 5.
    4. So the thing is, I would be cheated with a tempered product had I not have my weak wifi signal problem. I wonder how many other consumers are cheated.
    5. Anyway, I though each device comes with an unique serial number. My iPhone 5 serial was registered in my phone when I activated it. Is it not proof that this is a genuine phone?
I am supposed to be a short changed customer to have to waste my time visiting Singtel for a phone problem and then being told that my phone has been tempered with and hence my warranty for the new phone is void.
I would really appreciate it greatly  if someone could share with me how I should best resolve this. Thanks so much!
    Best regards,

Thanks for your advice and taking the time to reply. :)
Actually, I thought so too that the serial number in my setting would identify my iPhone as a valid apple iPhone. However, the service provider who supply the phone with the plan do not recognise that. They told me that under their policy, if a phone has been tampered with, in this case no serial number inside the iPhone, ( amazingly the iPhone was supplied by them and who would thought of opening up the iPhone to check the components when you purchase it?) , they will not recognise the iPhone.
So In a nutshell, i went to the technical centre for help in my weak wifi signal problem for a new iphone and ended up being told that my phone which I just received in nov is a tempered iPhone....

  • Sudden Weak WiFi signal on 3Gs

Over the last month or so I've experienced a big drop-off in my 3Gs's ability to latch-on to my local home WiFi signal. I've not recently upgraded, or changed settings on the phone. An example; my BT Home Hub router sits in my office and casts a strong signal throughout my timber-frame house, (and I know the signal's still fine because my 3-yr-old Macbook, which I use anywhere and everywhere, and spanking new iMac display full WiFi bars and the speed is excellent.) I normally access the web via my iPhone from my living-room, which is no more than 20 Yards from the router, and up until a month or so ago, enjoyed a full reception on the iPhone also, but now nothing. Zilch. (There is one small corner where I can sometimes pick up one bar.)
I'm composing this message on the iMac, which displays the full WiFi signal, with my iPhone propped up next to it and displaying zero WiFi reception. We are about eight yards away from the router.
(I realise this topic is closely linked to others already posted, but it's something that Apple should really be responding to; they obviously have people who keep an eye on forums like these to monitor feedback about their products, and connectivity issues seem to be a bit of a hot potato at the moment.)
My hunch is that the iPhone's capability to receive a WiFi signal has somehow become compromised, being as all other devices - and Apple devices at that - work fine.
    Can somebody help.
    Thx.

Weak WiFi reception seems to be a suddenly common problem.  We just traveled to Holland last week, and all three of our iPhones were useless, and unable to pick up wifi signals.  We got back to the states, and the problem continues.
My iPhone must be within a few feet of a wifi router or will see no signals.  I visited an Apple reseller who told me to update my iPhone software to solve the problem.  Now I have NO signal reception unless my phone is at the router... any router.
Today I went to the Genius Bar, where the Genius reset my phone, and told me I have a hardware problem: my wifi card in my phone is no good, and I have to replace my phone.  I thought this was suspicious at best, turned to the forums, and discovered many, many, many people have the same problem!!!
We can't all suddenly have the same hardware problem, but we all can have the same software problem.  This seems to be a well known bug based upon what I've read here.
I am about to do a total RESTORE on my iPhone to see if it solves the problem.
I agree with another's comment: Come on, Apple, fess up and fix it.

Iphone 5S have wifi issue afetr upgraded to IOS 8. Does Apple know about this?? Its really frustrating the signal is weak.

If I look at google, I will find that people reporting problems with every version of iOS. And accounts of being abducted by aliens. Just because you are having a WiFi issue does not necessarily mean the issue is with iOS 8 (correlation does not prove causality). Until you've done proper trouble shooting (or had Apple do it for you if you don't feel equipped), it's almost impossible to say why you are having a problem.
My iPhone 5S is not having any issues with iOS 8.
