IPhone 4 water damage - Replacement (how long will it take?)
If i just completely broke my iphone 4 (won't even turn on) due to water damage I understand that I can get a $199 refurbished replacement.
I was just wondering if anyone knew how long it would take to get the replacement phone. For example, if I went into the store gave them my old phone, would I be leaving with the replacement phone that day or would they have to send it to me in the mail?

If you take the iPhone to an Apple Store, then unless they happen to be out of stock on replacement units, you'll walk out with one.

Not sure what you mean by "deactivate" but if you used Lost Mode your iPhone will be immediately locked, disabled, and effectively made useless to anyone lacking your Apple ID and password.

They won't replace the lens. If they determine it is a manufacturing defect, you'll get a replacement phone.

I've just done the update directly on my iPhone from 7.0.4 to 7.0.6 and it took 15 minutes from start to finish - on my iPad yesterday it was similar.
However you do the update, directly on your iPad or via your computer's iTunes (via your computer will be slower), then copy your purchases over to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases and take a backup of your iPad - and preferably copy any important documents and/or photos off as well so that you have your own copy of them (the update should go smoothly, but it's best to be safe) -

Did you try unplugging the power cord for a few seconds, then plugging it back in? That usually fixes similar problems for me.

And for an equally fast computer with good processing speed the installation would not take more than 5 minutes. -
I just got a new iMac. was following the onscreen instructions to do migration assistance and I guess it connected to my old iMac via wi fi. It never instructed me to connect via firewire. Normally activation should only be a matter of minutes, but if your iTunes library (where you're trying to activate the phone) is in a place where you have no cell service, it will not activate until you take it to a place where you do have service.
So if it is sitting idle and not activating that could be a reason (happened to me). If you're a Verizon customer you may have to dial *228, then press 1 to finish the activation. -

How long will what take? You should leave the phone in rice for at least 4-5 days. At that point, plug the phone in and let it charge for about 15 minutes and see if it turns on. Accept the fact your phone will probably never work properly again.

How do you know it is not charging? Do you see anything on the screen at all? Have you tried a reset? Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons until you see the Apple logo and then release. If the phone was completly dead, it may take up to 15 seconds or more for the Apple logo to appear.
