IPhone 4 went off and doesn't turn on!

Hey,
I was watching a video on Vimeo on my iPhone 4 then I put it in my pocket. After 15 min, I tried to turn it on; it wouldn't turn on!
I tried to charge it, tried hard reset, and tried connecting it to MBP, but nothing worked.
Someone at the store where I bought it tried to repair it, and after trying for a few days, he said it can't be repaired.
He claimed that the board is burnt. I asked if it could be replaced, he said it will cost me 280$ for the board.
Is this possible? and how can it get burned just like that?!
I've had it for 11 months and it never fell or had any problem..
If I do repair it, would it have the same problem again?! or will I be paying in vain?
Please advise.
Thanks.

Thanks arodecap!
Out of Warranty, but I live in Lebanon, how is this possible?
Do I send it to US and it gets fixed for $149?

Is your iPhone a Factory Unlocked iPhone or Locked to a Service Provider ?
Have you tried Restoring your iPhone by taking your device in Recovery Mode ?
You can Contact Apple Support Team via Chat Support or you can call their Support Number.

That is referred to recovery mode. At this point your only option is to restore to factory & then from a backup if you have one

sometimes if the battery drains completely you will need to leave it plugged into a charger for 10-15 minutes before you get any activity at all.  this is normal

iphone went black and wont turn on past apple logo

Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again?
If this does not work, connect in recovery mode and restore, explained here:

  • My iphone powered off and will not turn back on.  It is fully charged.

I have a new iphone 4S and it powered off and will not turn back on and its fully charged.  Help.

Reset, hold both home and power buttons until the iPhone begins to restart, usually about 10 seconds time. If still problem, connect iPhone to Wall Charger and Reset, this can take about 20 seconds of holding both buttons while on charger.

Connect iPhone to Wall Charger for 10 minutes it may turn ON itself. If still OFF, keep on charger and Reset, hold both home and power buttons for about 20 seconds until the iPhone begins to start.

  • IPhone went dead and won't turn back on

My iPhone 5 was a refurbished phone that I received under warranty in November. However, it worked fine until last week when it started turning off at 50% and below (which is the same reason why I had to get this refurbished phone in the first place). But because it immediately turned back on, I thought nothing of it and ignored it. However, my phone went dead two days ago and won't turn back on. I've used two chargers that worked the day of, but it wouldn't charge with either of those and those wouldn't even connect my phone to my laptop. So, thinking and hoping it was both of the cords malfunctioning, I went out and bought another cord. My phone still won't turn on, Apple Support refuses to help in any way because my warranty out, and I'm lost.

Plug it in to a wall outlet so it has power, then do a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.

  • Went off and doesn't boot up

My wife was using her mid 2009 MBP 13 and it suddenly went black and off. When you try to turn it on the CD ROM makes a skweaky sound and the screen goes light blue. I've tried draining the power, reseting SMC (or SCM, or something like that) PRAM, took out hard drive and still presents same case. RAMs were removed and replaced... What could this be?

Logic board is dead. Replace it for $400-$800 or just buy a new computer.

  • My IPhone shut off and will not turn back on!!!!

    SO here's what happened,
I was texting a friend and listening to music on my iphone... Then all of a sudden I get this pop up notification that says "This adaptor is not supported"
I didnt have my phone plugged in and then all of a sudden it turned off and will not start back up.
    I tried the following:
Charge my phone for an hour
Pressed the sleep/power+home button for 20 seconds
Pressed the home button and plugged it in my computer while doing so
Now with that said, I need to know the following:
Is there hope for my Phone?
And if I have to replace it, can I go to my cell phone provider-ATT and have them replace it ( I have insurance on it) because the closest Apple store to me is 3 hours away.
    All the advice the better!

    SIDE NOTE!!!!!!!!!
This phone does NOT have water damage and was working just fine until i had this problem

    Hi chlo267!
Try using the steps in the following article to troubleshoot this issue with your iPhone:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Thanks for being a part of the Apple Support Communities!
