IPhone 4 Will Not Back Up, Apple Mail taking up room

I am unable to back up my iPhone 4 to iCloud (free storage plan) because it said that I have too many things to back up and there is no room in my iCloud account. I do not use the standard Apple Mail app, yet my phone is telling me that it is storing mail in my iCloud. I just cleared my backups to see it would start a new backup, but it is telling me I have more data to store than I actually have. I really do not use my phone for anything other than pictures, calendars, and the address book, in addition to Safari.
What should I do?

You only have 5 gb of free iCloud you must have alot of pictures on your phone. Try editing what it is backing up here is a way to set this:
>Settings
>iCloud
For the mail try this
once you are to icloud settings:
>Go to mail near the top and turn it off.
or
>Documents and data
>Off

I kept getting this last week. Really annoying. I found this solution:
Remove (delete) ALL photos and videos from your iphone. Reboot it. Connect to your pc again.
This worked for me, however I've since taken some more pics and it doesn't sync again, so I'm not sure what permanent solution there is, although I've read lots of technical ones by googling it.

My iPhone 4 will not back up? I keep getting an error message saying back up session failed. I have tried deactivating the firewall, i have tried changing the time zone on my computer. I have uninstalled and re installed itunes. What do i do now????

Obviously since you have iOS 7 you're a developer. As a developer, you signed a NDA with Apple not to discuss the iOS on a public forum. Please log in to the Developer Forum using your credentials and ask for help there, lest you risk having your credentials terminated.

Iphone 4 will not back up on windows 7?

My iphone 4 will not back up to my Windows 7 laptop. It either hangs up infinitely or says it cannot write to the disk. This happened on the previous version of itunes, and after deleting and reinstalling itunes it finally starting working again. After loading the most recent v of itunes it started again. I have reinstalled itunes several times with no change.
I am running it as an administrator and allowing it to write to the folder. I cannot update from the last ios 4.x version because it never gets past the backup step.
Any help will be appreciated.

iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
* Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
* Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
* Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
You will have to turn on "Show All Hidden Files & Folders" to see them. Navigate to that backup folder & delete the entire contents. Try again after doing so.

I assume you mean sync, not backup.
First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.

Iphone 5 will not back up to iTunes. I have never had this issue before but it has been consistent for the last two months. I have read a few discussion boards and restarted and deleted older backups to no success. Please help! I would follow these troubleshooting steps:
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more aboutrestoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

Storage informs me I have 4.7 GB free from 5.0 GB.
I see nothing at icloud on ANYTHING.
I have just gone through the menus on the phone and hit backup which started.
Informed it would take about 40 mins, but stopped after about ten
Anybody had same problem, and how was it fixed please.

Thought it was ment to be an automatic thing.
Just press "Back-up Phone" and off it went up to icloud.
No such luck.
Marketing people just tell you any old rubbish.
It would be ok if they said "You have to do lots more to get it to work", but they don't.

Settings on icloud on my Mac will not set photos to back up, or import to iphoto on the Mac
Seems I need to update iphoto at £10.99. More expense.
If I did not have a Mac, would it back up the photos to icloud I wonder.
Looks like I might buy Photoshop, forget about icloud, and use Google Drive or Drop Box instead.

Iphone 5 will not connect/verify BT mail

My iPhone 5 will not verify (set up) my BT mail account. BT mail works ok on my laptop. The problem started approx one week ago using iOS 7. I've now upgraded the iPhone to the latest version iOS 8.0.2 (12A405) but I still have the same problem. I've tried rebooting the phone and clearing the inbox of emails. When entering the email account details I've been using the "other" option. Any suggestions?

Hi, Thanks for getting back to me. I've eventually found out the problem was I'd used a ? symbol in my password. When logging on using Safari the password worked fine but when using an iPhone (iOS) the password was rejected as it didn't like the ?. Resetting the password without a ? resolved the issue.

Create a manual backup in iTunes, then restore it, restoring to your iTunes backup at the end. This will usually correct this. If it doesn't, then the problem is contained in the backup and you'll have to save as much of your data as you can, then restore it as new without using your backupo.

IPhone 4S will not back up or complete sync in itunes

I recently received a "new" aka reconditioned iPhone 4S from my mobile providers insurance company after wifi / 3G failures in my original 4S. I have been able to restore from a back up I made of my original phone but I have three problems with this phone I am looking for advice on.
1) phone will not back up manually to my computer in iTunes (back up button/menu options are greyed out)
2) phone is not recognised over wifi (box is checked)
3) sync over usb will transfer data to phone but does not complete in iTunes - stuck on "waiting for items to copy" (step 5 of 5) I have read multiple posts on this but the solutions offered have not worked in my situation.
I have restarted my Macbook, hard reset my iphone.

IPhone 4s will not back up after upgrading to IOS 8.1

My phone is supposed to be backing up automatically, but I keep receiving a message saying that I have not backed up in over 4 weeks.
Each time I try backing up manually, the screen pops up asking for my ICloud ID and password, I enter that, then it looks like it starting the backup, but then the screen pops back up asking me to sign in again. It seems to be in a virtual loop that will not allow my phone to complete the backup.

I followed all the troubleshooting tips. Everything is set properly, so my phone should be backing up automatically, but is not.
When I try to back up manually, it will start, then a pop up asks for my ICloud Password (again! which it already did), I enter the password and it returns me back to the screen that gives me the option to back up manually. The message at the bottom say "Last Backup could not be completed".
I keep going through the same motions over and over and over again with no results.
I am in a perpetual loop with this and the phone will not back up, either automatically or manually.
-My device is connected to a power source (the computer)
-The device is connected to the internet (my home Wi-Fi)
-The device screen is locked
Is there a way to go back and down load IS 06? I did not have these problems until I upgraded to IOS 8.0, then 8.1.
I thought the bugs were FIXED!
As you can tell, I am quite frustrated with this problem and am concerned that I am unable to back up my phone.

My iphone 4 will not back up calendar events to the icloud!

Since I installed Mountain Lion and subsequently activated iCloud for the first time I have been having a few issues with Calendars.
First issues was all the doubled up events which I eventually sorted out by turning the iCloud settings on and off and then merging for my Macbook and iPhone 4. Since then any Calendar events that I have entered on my Macbook have been backing up to the iCloud with no issues and have been pushing to my iPhone as well. Where the problem comes in is when I enter an event on my iPhone calendar it does not back up to the iCloud and therefore does not come up on my Macbook calendar either. Any help would be much appreciated!
