IPhone 4 will not play music
After upgrading to 7.02, something happened to my iPhones capability to play music, nothing else seems affected.
If I access an album and press play, what happens next is that all album covers flash on the screen sequentially like a deck of cards, counting upwards all the time.
Icons next to albums or songs appear in red.
Anyone has any idea about what to do?
I'm having the same issue as well. After upgrading my iPhones (4S) to 7.02, i've lost the capability to play/sync my music, however nothing else seems affected.
I'll try to restore the phone from a back up. I've also restored the phone to its original factory settings but nothing seems to have helped thus far. It's quite annoying.

My iPhone will not play music. Whenever I try to play music through the speakers on my iPhone it won't let me adjust the volume (like it's connected to a dock) and when I do connect it to a dock, the music plays through the iPhone speakers. Also I've tried just listening to my music through earphones and it plays for around 6 seconds then it goes back to like it's connected to a dock. Help? I've tried turning it off and on, restarting it and even restoring it and nothing's worked.
It says this when not connected to the dock. His dock is an ihome which isn't an official Apple dock. I think my next step is to take the thing in to an Apple store.

It either is or it isn't and your iPhone is water damaged
Since you that turned it on prior to drying it the damage is done now
Take to Apple and pay for a replacement

My iPhone 4s has been replaced at least 4 times within a year and nobody at the genius bar seems to know what's wrong but every time I plugy phone into my cable that connects my iPhone to the stero in my car and when I disconnect it, my iPhone think its in dock mode and will not play music or sounds with our being plugged into a dock. However it will occasionally make sounds when a text comes in but that's about it. I really don't know why this happens or how to fix it, HELP!!

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

My iPhone 4S will not play music out loud. I can't turn sound up or down, it doesn't even give me the option. I think that it thinks its docked, I've tried to blow air in it, I've tried compressed air with no luck.
Clean iPhone charging port with clean dry toothbrush. See if fixed. If not, and if there is Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation and take to Apple for resolution. If no coverage, clean again, very well with toothbrush and small amount of Isopropyl Alcohol.

All of a sudden my IPhone will not play all of my music
All of a sudden my IPhone will not play my music. I upgraded to ios5 awhile back and everything was fine in fact it was fine over a week ago now when I go to play it only shows the album art and the songs do not play. Also when the songs it wants to play (it's like it has a mind of it's own) play the album art and songs do not match up. The majority of the songs are purchased from ITunes if that helps. I tried unsyching my music then resyncing as suggested in another post and I still have this problem. I accidently reset all settings and I am wondering if this has anything to do with it, everything was fine until I did that. Now the only thing it is syncing is the music I ripped and loaded none of my purchased music. Very frustrating

IHome iA91 will not play music from iPhone 4
Hey everybody,
I'm having an issue that seems to be fairly common, but lacks a solid solution.
Whenever I dock my iPhone 4, the iHome iA91 will not play music. My iPhone continues to play music through its own speakers, but will not use the iHome's speakers. A message also pops up on my phone saying, "This Accessory is Not Supported by iPhone," even though the iHome iA91 lists the iPhone 4 as compatible. On top of that, it worked when I first got the iHome and now it suddenly will not play my phone. The volume bar on the iPhone also randomly disappears and returns while it's docked.
I have tried resetting my phone (home+power), I have restored my phone to stock, I have power cycled the iHome, all to no avail. The iHome speakers will still play the radio and alarms work as usual, and my phone charges without issues.
I'm getting quite frustrated and am desperately seeking an answer. Thanks in advance to everyone who reads or replies.Hi Adam,
Try the steps mentioned below to resolve the issue:
1. Disconnect iPhone from Docking System, restart both the System and the iPhone and then reconnect iPhone to the System.
2. If this didn't helps, try resetting both the units. You can reset the Docking System by pressing RESET at base using pin pointed object like paper clip.
3. Also, try updating iPhone and to latest version and check if that helps.
NOTE: If iPhone has the case or cover, the device may not be set correctly. Remove the case or cover from the iPhone and set the device again.

hi, my brand new iphone 4 will not play music through my music app but it will play videos through youtube and will play the sounds throught my games and will play text tones and facetime ect. what is wrong?
At least I'm not the only one with the issue. I was looking it up so see if others had the same problem and found a bunch of posts about it. I'm assuming it's not the phone then, it's the software. Should I bring it to the Apple Store? Replacing the phone seems stupid, because the phone isn't really the problem. It's the software! Maybe the iOS 5.0.2 will fix it??? I don't really want to wait though, it's a pain. If a lot of people have this issue it should get Apple's attention. They need to do something to fix it, ASAP!

The specific problem is that you cannot connect to the iTunes Store when using the iTunes app, even through your computer has Internet access. -
HT1391 Music that is on my computer and iPhone will not play using any media player
Media (songs) that are listed in iTunes and on the iPhone will not play. The cursor skips over them. Using Explorer I can see them on the disc, but clicking them and trying to play them with Quicktime, Windows Media Player or iTunes does not work.
Does anybody know what I can do to fix this?Check the information on the song, Right-Click -> Get Info.
In the fist pane, (Summary), you will see the AppleId (Account Name) that was used to buy the song.
Be sure to login to use this account to register this computer to play the song
What I often see, Is that people have many different AppleID, sometime not even knowing it, which is a big problem. -

Try force-closing the Music app: from the home screen, double-tap the home button, locate Music in the list at the bottom, tap and hold it until it wiggles, tap to close it, tap the home button again, then try to play your music again.

My 30-pin dock is connected to my lightning to 30-pin connector which is connected to my iPod touch 5g. But my iPod will only charge, and will not play music through my dock, only through the iPod's internal speaker. Help please!
Have you tried resetting both the iPod and dock? To reset the iPod, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
To reset the dock, unplug it and plug it back in.

i am having the exact same problem! it started a few days back and i thought that resetting the ipod will solve the problem..but it didnt....but once i synced the ipod to my laptop, it got solved! till it happened again this morning!

Is your account authorised on your Mac's iTunes ? If not then you can authorise it via the Store > Authorise This Computer menu option.

Ipod touch will not play music. It will play though with headphones in and when attached to dock. Any suggestions?
If you have not yet restored the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod try that. If stil have the problem you very likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
