IPhone 4 will not realise that it is connected to either the wall socket or pc. Please help.

So to explain my current situation, I have owned my iPhone 4 for about 3 months, thought after charging it overnight I awoken to it being faulty, the phone will not longer realise it is connected. I have tried multiple cables 3 of them being genuine apple cables. The phone will charge but at a much slower rate, it wont appear in iTunes or My Computer and the small lightning bolt inside the displayed battery will not appear.

Try cleaning the charging area in case there is a buildup of debris that's preventing a good connection.

  • IPhone will not turn on, charge or connect to a PC

My iPhone will not turn on, I was installing the iOS update on 4% battery which i've realised is bad and now my phone won't charge, turn on or even connect to a pc, i've tried pressing the two buttons to try fix it but nothing happens the screen remains black, ive tried charging it from a wall and nothing works at all! Is there anything else I can do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My father's iphone will not boot. We live in Barbados but the phone was bought in the US. Is there any way to fix this, or does he need a new phone, and is this covered by warranty?

My father has owned his iphone for almost exactly 9 months. The phone was purchased in the US when he was on holiday. We live in Barbados, but the phone should still be under warranty. (please correct me if I'm wrong). He says the phone will not boot, it is inconsistent with showing how much battery life it has and it keeps looping because it's always trying to reboot. He treats his electronics very well and the phone is in perfect condition. Is there any way that this can be fixed without him losing all the information on the phone? Or can he get a replacement phone (due to the warranty issue)?

Have you tried any basic troubleshooting
    restart
    reset
    Restore

  • IPhone 4S will not sync to new rebooted hard drive on Macbook (13-inch, white). Please help.

I've recently had to purchase/install a new hard drive for my Macbook (white 13-inch). Everything on my original hard drive was lost. So once I tried to sync my iPhone 4S to it, iTunes does not give me the option to "sync iPhone." I have logged into my Apple account ID and did authorize my account on that iTunes, but it does not let me sync any of my music, contacts, iCal & photos onto my laptop. Could anyone please help me with this problem?

You need to restore the backup of your old hard drive to the new one. The iPhone is not a backup device, and syncing iTunes content is one way, from computer to iPhone. If you don't have a backup there is an alternative process that can get most of the data off of your iPhone, but it is complicated and cumbersome. See: Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive

  • IPhone is not showing up in iTunes. I've tried just about everything. Please help!

Everything was working just fine until I updated my iTunes to the latest version (11.1.3).
I'm using a PC with Windows 7. I have an iPhone 5 and a couple of different iPod. Now all of them wont connect to iTunes.
I've tried everything, uninstalling, re-installing, all the troubleshooting and tutorials on the apple support online.
Today I was on the phone for about 30 mins with the apple support staff and we couldn't get it to work.
My other PC, which also Windows 7 has the newest iTunes installed and all of our iPhones and iPods have no trouble.
After I install the new iTunes on this PC, my iPhone is apearing in the computer, but will not connect to iTunes.
iTunes diagnostic will say it is not finding any iPhone or iPod.
I've even removed all of my antivirus software, tried re-installing an older iTunes version, nothing seems to fix it.
The apple support staff I talked to said a few other people have had a similar problem and they don't really know how to fix it.
As far as USB ports, they should all be ok. I've tried other devices (printer, scanner, flash drive) and they are working fine when plugged in.
It must be something to do with the apple mobile device support....?
Anyone's help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

it could be the cord. i have that same issue with my phone and it was the cord. you're not supposed to store the usb cord (or any other electrical cord) in a bunched up manner. anyway, i played around with my cord by bending it in different directions and now the cord works and my phone is recognized again. if all else fails, best to buy a new cord.

  • My iPhone will only turn on if it is plugged into the wall.

If I plug it into the computer it still won't turn on.
    help

    Hello parism17,
It sounds like unless your phone is plugged into the wall charger, it will not power on. I found this article for you to help troubleshoot the activity you are seeing named:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • My Firefox Will Not Update from 3.5.8 to 3.6 on my MacBook Pro, please help?

The laptop is less than a year old, and I hadn't used Firefox since I got it. I'm returning to Firefox now, but it's version 3.5.8 and I want 3.6. I check for software updates, but no FF update is offered. I try to download 3.6 from the Mozilla site, and all goes well until the end, when I get window with the message "The operation can't be completed because you don't have permission to access some items." Frustrating!!! Please help me update to 3.6. It shouldn't be this hard, should it?
    Thanks from Dustie

It sounds like you have an iphone 3g, which will only go to 4.2.1

  • IPhone 4S not able to make or receive calls after updating software to iOS 7, please help!

I can call people but the line doesn't even ring, call just drops. Please help!

Making a facetime call to his phone could not have caused his phone to behave this way. It's not your fault. Your friend needs to troubleshoot the issue on his phone.

  • Deleted a free version of  PDF Max after purchasing the pro version. That resulted in missing data on the pro version too. Please help

Last week, I purchased the pro version of PDF Max and today deleted the free version since I am not using it anymore.
I don't what happened or how, this also resulted in missing data on the pro version. I created loads of annotations and notes using the pro version. Now, all that's missing. I am using the word "missing" because I think the data (notes and annotations) is still there but its just not showing up in the app. Since, the size of the app did not change. It still is 1.24gb on iTunes. Can you guys please help me recover or should I say figure out a way to display the files on the app? Pretty please!

I'm not familiar with the specific app, but generally speaking if the free and paid versions of an app are separate (i.e. not an in app purchase), what you are seeing will be the case. the only resolution I know of is if the vendor provides an account and stores the data online, or it integrates with something like DropBox. If not, once the old version is deleted, the data is pretty much gone.
