Iphone 4 with tmobile cannot receive mms

I have a factory unlocked iphone 4 on tmobile, i was unable to recieve mms, but then I input this:
APN: epc.tmobile.com
mmsc:hhtp://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
mms proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
mms max message size: 1048576
mms ua prof URL: http://apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf
my picture messaging worked after that but i was unable to send or recieve group messages. I have heard of something people do with ibackupbot, i also understand that tmobile does not officialy carry the iphone and so cannot suport all services but i hope that their might be something i could possibly do. anyways thanks for any advice.

There are known problems with T-Mobile in the US and the iPhone, including issues with MMS. Check their forums or contact them and see if they can help you.
They are not a supported carrier in the US.

    Hello hairdresser25,
I would be concerned too if my iPhone only connected to the Internet and was able to receive MMS when connected to Wi-Fi. I recommend following the steps in the following article to assist with your cellular data connection:

  • I cannot receive MMS over WiFi- anyone else struggling? (2nd post)

    Original post:
I cannot receive MMS over WiFi- anyone else struggling?
Apparently, it's not the settings. Tech told me I need to just return the phone b/c they don't have a clue what's wrong with it. They've done everything they can on their end and nothing works. I posted about this earlier just before I spoke to advanced tech support and thought they'd fixed the issue, but it's not fixed.
If someone finds a fix for this, please post it. As of now, my plan is to return the phone to the store tomorrow.

UPDATE- A tech-savvy friend took a look at my phone this evening at work and couldn't fix the problem. He's a former tech support employee for another major wireless provider. He said his best guess is the problem is somewhere in the APN settings. It seems like LG's default settings are fighting (for lack of a better word) with Verizon's settings. He couldn't fix the problem and ended up suggesting I download the texting app "Textra" because it's one where the settings allow you to change the APN.
I was dubious because we've already tried changing the texting program to the two others that come on the phone and neither worked. But neither allow you to edit or add to the APN settings either.
I'm not sure how it is on anyone else's LG G3, but mine doesn't allow you to change the APN settings at all. On every single walk-through I've found for setting up MMS, I've followed it to the letter right up until it says, "Click the 'add' button in the upper right corner..." because that isn't an option on my phone. I imagine it's prob the same way for many others as well. I don't know if it's just on Verizon or if it's a product-wide problem.
My tech friend said the only way I can change the APN settings on my own (without speaking to Verizon's tech folks again) would be to "jail break" the phone first, which I really don't want to do.
I downloaded Textra and was surprised to find that it comes with a check-box for "MMS WiFi fix" under the setting "go here if MMS isn't working."  I clicked the appropriate boxes and sent myself a MMS using my husband's phone. I also asked a friend who has another provider to text me a test pic. Textra turned off WiFi, downloaded both pix, and then turned WiFi back on... exactly the way the phone's default settings should behave. It took a minute or so longer than a typical text but I'm okay with that so long as pix come through.
I've been fighting this issue for nearly 2 weeks now. I've spoken to 7 different people at Verizon as well as several friends who are extremely knowledgeable regarding cell phone OS (KitKat in particular), and this is the only thing that has actually worked. I'm going to give it 24 hours though before I say the problem is truly "fixed."
    Hope this works!! (crosses fingers)

  • Cannot receive MMS on wifi with data off, and data...

Had my lumia 820 for about a fortnight, and it's already eaten through a months worth of data, something my iphone 3gs rarely did. My usage hasn't changed, could anyone know why this could be? Ive got the phone set to 3G instead of the 4g that it's capable of. I dont turn off data unless i have to, due to conveniance, and the assumption if i have nothing open, it wont be pulling any data. (I know you can disable background apps, and i have for all except tumblr, which stops working if i do)
The other issue is that when I'm connected to wifi and have data off, I cannot open MMS's. Is that a phone connection vs internet issue or a glitch in the phone? Its a little frustrating having to delve into settings every time someone sends me a picture message!
Any advice or tips appreciated, apologies if i'm duplicating another thread.
    H

Could the extra data usage be due to you downloading apps and map data which in most cases will only be a once off. See how it goes over the next few weeks after the initial setup and as usage goes back to normal.
Data needs to be on to receive or send MMS. You will find this to be an operator issue. The operator obviously wants you to use their network when accessing your MMS.

  • Most iPhone user's cannot receive text from me and my NEW Note 4

I chose to try the pre-installed +Messenger app from Verizon to be used rather than the fuctional default messenger. It wasn't what I expected so I switched back to the original message app. Well, that's when the issue's began with most of my contacts who use Iphone's.
I would send text to iPhone user's with no delivered confirmation text being returned as a notification. So I called them and they said they didn't receive a text. I realized the problem was a conflict with going back to the original messaging app/software.
Went to the Verizon store where I purchased the phone three times! The first salesman told me to have the iPhone user's to go into their text settings and turn on "Send MMS". That didn't resolve the issue. The second salesman called tech support and fixed the problem. Although I didn't know  was done but, it was apparently a temporary fixed because it continued to happen
The 3rd salesman had to reset to factory settings and disabled/removed the +Messenger app from Verizon.
Still experiencing this stressful issue with my Note4.
    PLEASE HELP ME!
    I_chingon

Sorry to hear that! I tend to use the default Messages app more than anything else too.
I'm curious about your issue because you said "most iPhone users..." That can make the situation a little bit tricky, but it can also be used to your advantage, because if you compare the messaging/cellular settings on one iPhone that works and one that doesn't, you will likely find your resolution. I'd suggest looking at an iPhone that doesn't receive your messages and try to make the settings match the settings of an iPhone that successfully receives your texts.
Since it only happens with iPhone users the problem is likely not on your end; it's more than likely an issue with iMessage on the recipients' phone, but you can certainly try to deactivate your iMessage account (if you have one). Deregister and Turn Off iMessage - Apple Support. Bear in mind that this tool is usually used to solve issues that are the opposite of yours (iPhone users cannot send texts to you).

  • Iphone 4s can't receive MMS from any phones

Would anyone know if I need to activate some Iphone 4s settings to receive pics thru MMS?

You should not have to. Check with your carrier to make sure your account is properly provisioned.

  • Cannot receive mms messages

    Hi,
I am able to send MMS messages to others, but I receive only this error picture when someone attempts to send one to me. I redownloaded the internet settings from AT&T using the setting under more>internet settings just moments before receiving the message shown. I have received MMS pictures in the past; this error is a recent development, and only appears to happen with certain people. Is it their phone?

My only sugestion could be down to the size of the file being sent, or if it is of too high a resolution...however, I wouldn't have thought that to be the case with the Z2 as the spec is so good. Have you been to see your provider?

  • Cannot receive MMS from other phones?

Hey there. I'm having trouble with receiving MMS messages from my 8800, even from other people on my network(AT&T). I went into the options menu and enabled 'multimedia reception' and 'automatic retreval', and unchecked all the notificattions and filtering options. The only reason I can see that I'm not receiving messages is because I don't have a MicroSD card in the slot... am I on the right track, or am I totally off the mark?

    Hi LegendaryKA8,
    Welcome to BlackBerry world.
Did you try sending MMS from your device? Was it successful? Alternatively check with your operator that they've provisioned MMS for you.

Hi, I have and iPhone 4 with the lastest iOS. I sent MMS to my friends that are out of the United States, and they can't receive it, what they get is a message that asks them to view it online. • Jabber for iPhone and iPad cannot receive calls

We currently have Call Manager 9.1.1 and Presence 9.1.1.
I am starting to use the Jabber Client for iPhone and iPad, but am having trouble receiving calls dialed to a particular extension.
If I can go settings for the iPhone Jabber client as an example, I am succesffuly connected to all accounts: IM, Phone Services, Voicemail, and WebEx.
When I go to the keypad, I can succesffuly dial internal extensions and make outbound calls to any numbers and they come accross as using my extension.
When calling the extension, my desk phone rings, but not the Jabber client.
Not sure what could be causing this issue to occur for Jabber not receiving the calls.
    Thanks for any suggestions.
    Paul Gaydos

Should still work. But would be good to check indial into jabber with the phone unplugged, just for testing purposes.
also, you have checked the partition and configuration on the TAB device is the same as on the deskphone?
Can you attach call manager traces when making a test call and attach to the case.  Let us know the extension and device names you have used in the test, and a timestamp of the test.
    thanks

  • Is there a way to change the settings on my iPhone so I cannot receive calls from people who are not in my contacts?

Okay so I barely use the calling/phone app (the one that comes on it) on my iPhone but most of the calls I get are from random people who I do not know who have the wrong number asking for the same people! I block them all I can but they're not always the same number there's different numbers all the time it's extremely annoying and driving me crazy, the one person left a voice mail again asking for the same person so I called them back and they denied they ever called I kept telling them I got a voicemail from that number and they kept saying no one called from that number. I literally cannot take this anymore. I remember seeing somewhere when I was setting up my phone where I can set it so people cannot call you if they're not in your contacts list. Is there a way to do that? If there is could you please let me know and how to do so? I seriously really need this please. I have an iPhone 4s that's on ios 7.1.2 if that helps any. Thanks so much.

hi, this thread already deals with the issue:
How can I prevent getting calls from number that are not in my address book?

  • Cannot receive MMS but can send

Hi, first off i'd like to start by saying i own a factory unlocked iPhone 3GS 16GB and it is on T-Mobile network. I can send MMS just fine but if i get an MMS from someone off of my network (like ATT) it says that the media content was not included due to... i have tried several different methods to receive them but nothing works. Can anyone help?
    Thanks!

Since you are using T-Mobile's network, you need to contact T-Mobile.

  • Cannot receive MMS env3

I tried *228 option 2. I pulled my battery. I erased messages and pictures to clear memory. The picture is smaller than 350kb. What other troubleshooting steps can I try? When I send a message it says connecting for several minutes and I hit end to back out of it but the message does send.

    Hi there
I’d be happy to help with your MMS concerns! I would recommend that your friend first checks that they have an active data connection. To do so, first disable WiFi and enable cellular data. Then try loading http://att.com/ttr via the device’s internet browser. If it loads, that part is fine and we can then ensure the device has the correct apn settings loaded. Please click here and ensure the settings listed under Android match those on the device.
    I hope this helps!
