IPhone 4 won't automatically re-connect to wi-fi or BT

I have a 14 month old iPhone 4 running iOS 5. Ever since the last 4.x OS upgrade my phone will no longer automatically switch from the 3g cellular connection to wifi. I thought perhaps the issue would be resolved in iOS 5 but no joy. I've tried doing a full reset from the phone, a restore from itunes, deleting apps, running no apps after a restore/reset, nothing seems to work other than turning the phone off and back on again. The phone will maintain the wifi connection for as long as I remain at home but when I leave and return home again - no wifi connection until I turn the phone off and back on again. The same issue with the BT connection to my car. I have to turn off the phone and back on again to make it connect. Once connected all works fine. I'll add that after doing a restore or reset the phone will work normally for a few times but goes back to the same problems. Is this a hardware issue? It doesn't seem like it since it will work for a little while. My wife's iphone 4 works perfectly under the same conditions so there's nothing wrong with my network. Suggestions?
Along with the recent problems with icloud bookmark syncing amoung devices and keychain constantanly asking for passwords on my mail accounts on my macs since the last bunch of updates these multiple problems are really getting anyoying fast.
Please, no 'me too' replies. Right now I'm just looking for a fix to my phone problems. I'll deal with other problems at another time.
Thank you.

These didn't work, but oddly enough what worked was choosing "other" network, typing the name of my network in (even though it already showed up in the list of networks), indicating WEP encryption, and typing the password in.
Disconnected a few times and was able to automatically connect.
Kind of odd if you ask me.

  • Iphone won't automatically re-connect to wi-fi; have to re-enter password each time

I just "upgraded" my wi-fi router to a Netgear WNDR3400.  Everything seems to be set up fine, and I'm able to connect with our various iphones, ipads, and AppleTV.  But our iphones won't automatically re-connect to the network after the connection is lost, and we have to re-enter the password when we re-connect.
    Kind of stumped here.

  • IPhone 5s won't automatic connect to cellular network after the wifi connection lost.

My iPhone 5s won't automatic connect to cellular network after the wifi connection lost. I have try make a restore and open again my cellular data but the problem is still there, after I try to restart my iphone then can use my cellular data, but after few hour ago I still confront the same problem too.

I also tried a total reset. But it didn't work.

  • My iPhone 5 won't automatically send iMessages (enabled in settings)

My iPhone 5 won't automatically send iMessages to other peoples' devices who have iMessages enabled, unless they send an iMessage to me first. My phone automatically sends SMS only, and does not automatically detect if other people have iMessage capability. My iPhone 4 on the same apple ID did not have this problem, even after I updated the software to iOS 6.
I have enabled iMessages in my "settings", as well as checked only my phone number in the "receive at". My boyfriend also has an iPhone 5, but he is able to send iMessages to other people who have iMessage.

    Hi Friend,
    * Check in Settings>>Messages>>Send and Receive, if your mobile number or Apple ID is selected at all. In my iPhone 4S for example, I am using my mobile number to send iMessages, instead of Apple ID.
    * Double check in Settings>>General>>Mobile is turn on. If yes, double check in "Mobile Data Network"  (sorry, maybe I wrote down the wrong name because my device is not in English : )) if you have filled the with the network carrier information. If everything are blank, you will not able to send/receive iMessages without WiFi connection.
    * Check also in Settings>>Notifications>>Messages, if "Show iMessage Alerts From" is "All" option selected.
    Good Luck...

  • How do I set my iPhone 3G to sync automatically when connected to my computer?

How do I set my iPhone 3G to sync automatically when connected to my computer? The button to "Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected" is checked, and iTunes opens automatically, but it no longer syncs automatically as it did before the last update.  Now I have to hit the "Sync" button each time; much less convenient as I have to frequently update my calendar.

On my iTunes at the top menu, in the Edit drop down menu, at the bottom is Preferences, click that, then pick icon Devices. Then in the middle there are check boxes, one has Prevent ipods,iPhones, ipads from syncing automatically. Try to leave this box empty. See if this helps.

  • IPhone 4S won't charge or connect to pc.

My iPhone 4S won't charge or connect to pc. I've tried several cables, power adapters and pc's and nothing helps. I also tried connecting other iPhones and iPads and they worked well. Also when my iPhone is off it can charge.

    I would restart

  • My iphone 5s won't automatically go into sleep mode

My new iphone 5s won't automatically go into sleep mode

Try doing a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.
There is not a control for sleep timing so see if the reboot helps.

  • HT1476 iPhone 4S won't charge or connect to iTunes through cable properly.

Hi, My iPhone 4S is not charging or connecting to iTunes.  Only very sporadically does it charge properly or connect to the computer.  It is always charging a bit however when the cable is connected, but very slowly (approx 1% per hour).  On the odd occasion it does charge properly it all seems fine, but this is very rare.
I have tried several different cables (all original Apple ones).  I have tried charging on different power sockets.  I have tried charging on different computers (both Apple and Regular).  I have also tried charging on a docking station.
I am taking it to an Apple support center this Friday, but urgenly need to sync with iTunes to save all my apps I have bought.  I have not synced for a while.  I have been told I will probably get a new phone, that is why everything needs to be backed up now.  I have already back-up my setting on iCloud, but as far as I am aware this will not back up the actual software.
    Please help.  I am desperate!
    Thanks

  • My iPhone 3G won't display or connect to my home wifi network

    Hello!
I have an old iPhone 3G that my dad gave me a long time ago. It had some problems, but I figured that's just 'cause it's old. But now I really don't know. One of its biggest (and only) problems is that it refuses to connect to my home wifi network. In fact, when I go to Settings > WiFi, it won't even display my network (it did once, but failed to actually connect), or any network, actually. I found once that in Settings > General > About > Network (Not Available), it tells me "SIM not provisioned". I've heard that you don't need a SIM card at all to use wifi on an iPhone, so what's going on here (in case I didn't make it clear, I do have a SIM card in the phone, and this problem occurs whether it's in or not)? Do I need to activate my SIM card (and if so will it cost me anything)? Or is my iPhone just whack?
If I wasn't clear in my question, please ask for clarification in the comments.
    Thanks!

We now have two older phones that will not recognize one of our networks.

  • IPhone 3g won't charge or connect to iTunes.

I have an iPhone 3g as well as an iPhone 4. The iPhone 3g is almost two years old, and used to work fine, but now it won't connect to my computer or to iTunes. The iPhone 4 has the most recent software on it, however the iPhone 3g has not been upgraded to even iOS 4 out of fear of it slowing down the phone too much. The iPhone 3g will however charge with a specific car charger, but not through a computer or wall outlets. I am looking to be able to get it to connect to iTunes so that I can back it up. I have already tried the following things.
-turning the phone off and then on again
-resetting the phone by holding down the lock button and home button
-I have tried using different USB cables and diferent USB ports (all of which work perfectly with the iPhone 4)
-I have also tried using different computers; one windows, and one a Mac(iPhone 4 connects to both, but the 3g does not) (the Mac does have the most recent version of iTunes, but i'm not sure about the toshiba)
-I have tried restarting the computers
Even if there is a problem with the phone I need to be able to find a way to back up all of the contacts and photos that are on there before switching to a newer iPhone. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Nope not even then
I've tried using different cables and adaptors too

  • IPhone 4s won't automatically join known open wi-fi network

I have an iPhone 4s with the latest software update. Under settings>wi-fi>ask to join networks..  It is turned off.
If I am at home , the iPhone 4s will join my secured home network automatically , every time I walk in the door.
But, when I walk into work, it will not AUTOMATICALLY join an open unsecured known network.  I always have to go to settings>wi-fi>and manually touch "linksys" and it will join.
I have ran some tests with my iPhone and iPad side by side at work....
With both devices connected to the open linksys network, I will turn wi-Fi off on both devices, then turn it back on. The iPad will automatically rejoin the linksys open network every time, the iPhone does not automatically join. I always have to select it manually.
I have tried several remedies...  I have selected "forget this network", and then rejoined it.  I have reset my network settings. I have turned the "ask to join networks switch "on and off". And I have done a hard reset on the phone. All to no avail. Any suggestions???

So , I figured out the problem. Somewhere along the lines, I told iPhone to "forget" an unsecurednetwork also named "linksys". Well,  just so happens that the open network at my office that the iPhone wouldn't automatically join was also named "linksys". unfortunately, my iPhone was doing EXACTLY what I told it to do 2 years ago when it kept trying to connect to some other open network also named "linksys".
What I find funny, is that even with a network settings reset on iPhone, it still remembered to "forget" the "linksys" network. But, I found a workaround by going to settings>wifi>other> then typing "linksys" in the network name without a password. Now it "remembers" linksys networks.

  • IPhone starts playing music automatically when connecting to bluetooth

I'm having an issue where my iPhone 4S (iOS 6.0.1) starts playing music/podcasts as soon as it connects to the bluetooth audio in my car, even when neither the music app nor the podcasts app is open at all. This is extremely annoying because every time I get in my car it starts regardless if I want to listen to anything or not, and I'm forced to take my phone out and shut it off every time. At first, I thought it was a glitch with the podcasts app, so I deleted it, but it's still doing it through the music app. The weird thing is, while it's playing, if I open the music app, the "Now Playing" button doesn't appear. But if I double click the home button in the lock screen, or go to the music controls by double clicking on the home screen, it does show what's playing. I have no idea how to make this stop short of shutting off bluetooth, but I don't want to do this in case I want to use the phone itself while driving. Please Apple, fix this soon!

I am having a similar issue with my new IPhone 4 and my cars Bluetooth audio
The music on my iphone just randomly starts playing whenever I enter my vehicle. This happens eventhough I have paused the music
On one occasion the music was playing at the same time as I was on a phone call.
