Iphone 4 won't recognise my sim

I got an Iphone for xmas. I got a new micro sim today from Vodafone but when I put it into the phone it says SIM not recognised. I've tried the sim in another phone and it works ok. I've tried resetting my phone in I Tunes but I'm still having the same problem.
can anyone help please?

That's because your phone was hacked using gevey chip to unlock your phone, that why it won't read the sim.
You'll have to use google to find your answer.

Unless you purchased the iPhone direct from Apple in the UK and paid full price either on line or In an Apple Store then it will be locked to a UK Carrier and only that carrier can arrange unlocking
It is unlikely that the iPad is similarly locked as most are sold carrier free unless specifically purchased from a UK carrier as part of a packaged deal involving a subsidy on the price of the iPad ( not very likely but they do exist )

Anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID

There are three possibilities:
1. Your phone is locked to a different carrier and will not work with any SIM card except those from that carrier.
2. Your new card is from a carrier not supported by the iPhone.
3. Your new SIM card is defective.
In order to determine which is the right answer you could try a different sim from the same carrier or try your new card on a different iPhone. Also check to make sure your new carrier is a supported carrier.

Iphone won't work with sim card inside

I bought a iphone 3Gs and the last owner updated the IOS to 5.1.1.
It works perfect without the sim card, but as soon as i put a sim card in the iphone it does the following things:
(Even when the battery is 100%)
- the apple symbol appears and the iphone shuts down again.
- the apple symbol appears, i can enter the code and the iphone shuts down again.
- the apple symbol appears, i can enter the code, i get a screen and the iphone shuts down again.
- the apple symbol appears, i can enter the code, i get a screen and when i want to make a picture or a phone call the iphone shuts down again.
- the apple symbol appears, i can enter the code, i get a screen and some time later the iphone shuts down again.
What can be the problem?

I did tried a different sim. The problem was the same.
But i think i found the solution. I did recovery (reinstall) of the IOS and after that i was asked to put in the sim. Untill now it seems to work.

IPhone won't recognise plucking out the headset - stays in head-set mode

Hi,
recently my iPhone 3G (i bought it half a year ago and i'm running the latest software) won't respond to plucking out the headset. So even though there are no headphones or head-set being used, it still stays in head-set mode.
Reading along some posts here, i've tried several solution options, but none of them would work for me. Here's what i've tried so far:
1.) plucking headphones in and out several of times
2.) resetting the iPhone
3.) restoring the iPhone
4.) cleaning the headset/headphone insert
None of all these options have worked to fix my problem. Now it sometimes switches back to regular microphone and speaker function, but that only lasts for couple of minutes. I've also figured that it might have something to do with my iphone overheating - is that possible?
Are there any other solutions out there? Maybe a software-option which lets you control the input/outputs? Cause it doesn't seem to be a hardware problem, at least not for me.

These are the only user troubleshooting steps:
Standard troubleshooting steps in the following order:
1. Reset: Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the apple logo, then release. Ignore the slide to power off.
If no change, continue:
2. Restore your phone from a backup, note: if the problem is related to corrupt data, while this will restore a fresh OS, it will also restore the problem.
If no change, continue:
3. Restore as a "new" phone in itunes & re-sync your content. All saved data will be lost.
If no change, make an appointment at an Apple store as you most likely have a hardware problem.
In your case, use a flashlight & magnifying glass and look closely in the headphone port. It doesn't take much to create a short. Use a bent paper clip to remove any debris.

Won't recognise sim

Recently my Iphone 3GS came up with the message to connect to ITunes. So that afternoon I connected it and it said that there had been an error and that it needed a system restore. So I did the restore but now when trying to configure the phone it won't recognise the sim card. This sim still works in other phones and is obviously an error with the Iphone. I can't do the restore again as when I go to Itunes it says there is no sim installed so I cant do anything at all.
Any help would be muchly appreciated!

it may be a faulty sim does another sim work in it? this way we can narrow things down.

What is the name and country of the wireless provider that you are trying to use?
Have you tried removing the sim, cleaning the contacts, and putting the sim back?
What did the wireless provider say when you asked them for assistance?

I have not had wifi since November when I upgraded to the newest IOS version. I called the Apple help line and they told me some things to do and I tried them all and they worked for a few hours and then wifi shut off again. I kept doing what they told me and it worked for a couple more days and then I could never turn it on again. My blue tooth doesn't work either. I had to actually increase my data usage with AT&T becuase of this. When I did that in December I went to the Apple store and was told that it is a hardware issue and since my phone is out of warranty I would have to pay for a new phone because they could not fix the issue. My upgrade isn't up until June 2014 so not only do I have to wait for the upgrade and I am not paying for a new phone but I have to pay $10 plus extra a month on my cell phone bill because I was going over on my Data!!! I have been beyond upset about this and Apple is not doing anything about this nor did they offer up some way to resolve the issue because obviously it is not just some rare incident if several people are having this issue. Who knows how many people out there have had this issue and have not said anything about it. Now there is a newer update that I can't do because it requires wifi in order to download.
June can not get here fast enough and I may not go back to Iphone after dealing with this for so long with no help from Apple.

If it now says "invalid" or "unsupported" SIM, your iPhone was almost certainly hacked to unlock it from the original cell carrier and updating has now removed that hack and the iPhone has relocked back to that original carrier. You will have to contact that carrier and ask if it would be possible to get your iPhone officially unlocked.

Apparently you didn't get an iPhone that was officially unlocked, but rather one that either wasn't unlocked at all (and you were flat lied to) or that was hacked to unlock it. Restoring would have removed any such hack in most cases.
Only the carrier to whom the iPhone is locked can authorize an unlock, and most carriers will not unless you have service with them. I'd suggest you go back to the unauthorized reseller from whom you purchased this iPhone for redress, since they didn't sell you what they apparently claimed. It's quite possible, though, that you may have to chalk this up as a learning experience, swallow the loss, and buy another iPhone from an authorized source.
Just so you know, unless your old iPhone was in pieces or jailbroken, Apple would have replaced it for £119 if you had taken it to an Apple Store.
