IPhone 4 Won't Sync Voice Memos to iTunes

I cannot get my voice memos on my iPhone to sync to iTunes for the life of me.... I have at least 10 and everytime I hit the sync button it goes through the process but never puts them into my library.  I even have the check mark checked.  I read that trimming the voice memos can help, but that didn't work for me. Also tried reorganizing library and deleted voice memo playlist, but I am struggling on this one.  Any ideas would be most helpful.  I feel like there is a bug with the app or something.

I'm having the exact same problem. IPhone 4, ITunes 10.6

  • IPhone iOS 5.1.1 will not sync voice memos to iTunes

My iPhone running iOS 5.1.1 will not sync voice memos to iTunes. I have tried trimming the memos, and changed the label. No go. The "include voice memos" is checked on iTunes sync, but iTunes won't even create a voice memos playlist. Help? These are brand new recordings, and they are too long to email.

Try Handbrake to convert your movie to an iPhone format.  Then reimport it to iTunes and synch to your phone.

  • Problem syncing voice memos to ITunes from IPhone 4?

Recorded Voice Memos will not sync to Voice Memos in ITunes. After connecting the IPhone, I tried Transferring Purchases, then Backup, but they do not appear in the ITunes library. Have been having this issue since latest update on 25/4/2014. I tried unticking and reticking reference to Voice Memos under Music.
Your advice would be greatly appreciated

    Hi mallee fowl,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I understand you are trying to transfer Voice Memos to your iTunes Library. On the Summary pane in the sync settings make sure your Manually manage music and videos in not check marked and when you sync your iPhone a playlist should be created called Voice Memos in iTunes. Please use the following article for reference.
    iPod: Recording voice memos
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2396
    Synchronize
If iPod is set to update songs automatically and you record voice memos, the voice memos are automatically downloaded to a playlist in iTunes when you connect iPod. Once downloaded, the voice memos are removed from the Voice Memos folder on your iPod. To play the voice memos that have been synchronized to your computer in iTunes, select the Voice Memos playlist on the left side of the iTunes window. To play the synchronized voice memos on the iPod, select the Voice Memos playlist in the Music menu, not the Voice Memos menu in the Extras menu.
    I hope this helps,

  • Syncing voice memos to iTunes

Got me an iPod touch, 64GB. Using it a lot for Voice Memos. But even though I've set iTunes to "sync voice memos", and even though I've got my voice memos on iTunes already. every time I plug in the iPod it asks if I want to add the "new voice memos" to iTunes. I don't want to, because I have them on iTunes already - and if I accept, it just doubles them up. Am I missing something obvious in the settings here?
    Thanks
    Tony

UPDATE - Apparently large files cannot be mailed out.  So far I can verify that a 27 minute memo cannot be mailed.

  • Syncing Voice Memos to iTunes - Workaround

Not everyone can sync their voice memos to iTunes, and no one really knows why (or cares).  Here is a workaround.
Part One - Email the Voice Memo to Yourself
    1. Select the voice memos application.
    2. Select the voice memos list (button in lower right hand corner).
    3. Highlight/Select the voice memo to send.
    4. Select the blue Share button (lower left corner).
    5. Select the gray Email button.
    6. Address the email to yourself and select the Send button (upper right hand corner).
Part Two - Save the Voice Memo to Your Computer
This part varies for everyone.  I am going to assume you know how to save files from your email to your computer.
Part Three - Add the Voice Memo to iTunes
    1. Open iTunes.
    2. Select: File / Add File to Library.  Choose the voice memo you downloaded to your computer. Click Open.
Note: the music file will be saved as an 'Unknown Album / Unknown Artist'.
    3. Right-click on the file, choose Get Info.  Choose the Options tab.
    4. Change the Media Kind to Voice Memo (the Media Kind should automatically add a check mark).  Click OK.
    5. Double-click to re-open the file.
    6. Right-click on the name, choose Get Info.  Choose the Info tab.
Note: You now have a chance to re-name the file anything you want.
    7. Use the Name field to re-name your memo.
Part Four - Add a Voice Memo Playlist.
    1. Select: File / New Smart Playlist...
    2. Click on Artist and choose Media Kind from the drop-down list.
    3. Click on Music and choose Voice Memo from the drop-down list. Click OK.
You can now use Voice Memos and iTunes as promised in the Users Guide.

UPDATE - Apparently large files cannot be mailed out.  So far I can verify that a 27 minute memo cannot be mailed.

  • Does anyone know when Apple is going to fix the problem that the Iphone 4 has with transfering voice memos to itunes?

Does anyone know when Apple is going to fix the bug with transfering voice memos from the IPhone 4 to itunes on a computer. I waisted a lot of time trying to figure out why it was not working. Then I read some comments about other people having the same issues.
    cheers!

Anyone that did know would be bound by non-dosclosure agreement not to say.
Unless Apple announces, which they very rarely do, there is no way to know what Apple will do in the future or when they will do it.
    Sorry.

  • How do I stop syncing voice memos to iTunes on Windows?

I want to delete my voice memos on my Windows computer (to free up disk space), but leave the voice memos intact on my iPod. How can I accomplish this? (iTunes says that when I delete from my computer, the memos will also be deleted from my iPod, which I don't want to happen). Thank you for your help (I'm a new iTunes/iPod user).

How many Gigs do you have on your computer? if you convert the voice memos to AAC which is possible after you put them on iTunes, they take up virtually no room.
When you plug in your iPod and a notice comes up asking if you want iTunes to put the voice memos from your iPod into your Library, selct "No".
If you want the voice memos to stay off your computer, your going to have to manage every manually, if you have iTunes manage automatically, it will delete the memos off your iPod because iTunes duplicates Movies, Music, TV shows, Memos, etc, from iTunes directly to iPod. Managing all material manually is a heavy price to pay just to keep memos off your computer. That's the way it goes. If any knows hows to keep the memos out of the Library but still keep on the iPod, that would be pretty intelligent of them.

I have tried to turn it off and the hard reset but it's still not charging. It happened while I was syncing it with iTunes then suddenly the computer just won't recognize the iPhone (the syncing wasn't even done yet when it happened). Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

if on a mac, restart the computer. if on windows, close itunes disconnect device start> search> type in "services" >then slect service local. find apple mobile device and then on the left choose stop the service.  then start the service.

  • Syncing voice memos from multiple accounts to one iTunes library

I ran into an interesting one today. On the iMac at our house, we have 4 user accounts. All of them point to the same iTunes library (a shared directory that all can see). This has worked great so far, as we can all see all music, and updates are all there etc.
One of my daughters has been using the voice memo app to quickly record things she wants to keep. She has enough of them now she wants to make sure they get backed up. I searched the web and found that you can add syncing voice memos as an option in iTunes.  However, my other daughter must also have that checked off, and now when we go into iTunes, we see Voice memos, but it's only from the one phone (i.e. it doesn't appear it will sync multiple phones to separate voice memo libraries or even to the same library).
Does anyone know if you can direct your voice memos to a specific library, or what other alternatives I might have?  Ideally it would be automatic (like syncing) so that it's not something we forget to do.
    Thx!

    - Did it work before?
    - Did you do this:
    Moving recordings to your computer
You can sync voice memos with the iTunes library on your computer, and listen to them on your
computer or sync them with another iPod touch or iPhone.
When you delete a synced voice memo from iTunes, it stays on the device where it was recorded,
but it’s deleted from any other iPod touch or iPhone you synced. If you delete a synced voice
memo on iPod touch, it’s copied back to iPod touch the next time you sync with iTunes, but you
can’t sync that copy back to iTunes a second time.
Sync voice memos with iTunes. Connect iPod touch to your computer. Then in iTunes, select
iPod touch. Select Music at the top of the screen, select Sync Music, select “Include voice memos,”
    then click Apply.
Voice memos synced from iPod touch to your computer appear in the Music list and in the Voice
Memos playlist in iTunes. Voice memos synced from your computer appear in the Voice Memos
app on iPod touch (but not in the Music app).
    - Does any media now sync to the iPod?

  • How do you sync voice memos?

I have new voice memos that I would like to sync, however I dont know how to do it. I have synced memos in the past and they are on itunes. how do I sync new memos?

    From the Users Guide:
    Syncing Voice Memos
iTunes syncs voice memos to your iTunes library when you connect iPod touch to
your computer. This lets you listen to voice memos on your computer and provides a
backup if you delete them from iPod touch.
Voice memos are synced to the Voice Memos playlist. iTunes creates the playlist if it
doesn’t exist. When you sync voice memos to iTunes, they remain in the Voice Memos
app until you delete them. If you delete a voice memo on iPod touch, it isn’t deleted
from the Voice Memos playlist in iTunes. However, if you delete a voice memo from
iTunes, it is deleted from iPod touch the next time you sync with iTunes.
You can sync the iTunes Voice Memos playlist to the Music app on iPod touch using
    the Music pane in iTunes.
Sync the Voice Memos playlist to iPod touch:
1 Connect iPod touch to your computer.
2 In iTunes, select iPod touch in the Devices list.
3 Select Music at the top of the screen.
4 Select the “Include voice memos” checkbox and click Apply.
Some users have had to create the Voice Memos playlist since it did not get automatically created.

  • ITunes 11.4 won't sync iPhone iOS 7.1.1 voice memos

I tried syncing my voice memos to iTunes 11.4 for PC from my iPhone that's running iOS 8, and only the ones made after the upgrade got synced. None of the ones made prior using iOS 7 got synced. I know I can email them, but there's a lot. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I also could not sync music after updating to iTunes 11.0.2. Today I lost a few hours of my life fixing it, but in my case the fix was banal and annoying. In Itunes>Preferences>Devices there is a box "Prevents iPods, iPhones, and iPads fro syncing automatically". I unchecked it and all is well. I am sure that I did not check the box in the first place, so it must be a default or the result of importing settings when updating.

  • I tunes will not sync voice memos off of Iphone in yosemite

I just updated my macbookpro with the new Yosemite update. However, It won't let me sync voice memos off of my phone! I tried the same thing with my music library and I can only add to the iphone. It will sync music and voice memos on but not off. Photos and videos have come off my iphone so it is not an issue of nothing can be taken off. I have tried fiddling with new itunes forever but I just can't figure it out!
Oh and also it won't sync my contacts off my phone either....
If it helps, it is an iphone 4 so that may be a problem?
    Please help, Thank you!

I use a program called iTools. It's an alternative for iTunes and it's more like import/export type of thing rather than sync. I like the windows version better but the Mac version works ok too. And it is free
    It should look like this:

  • Since updating to IOS5 my voice memos won't sync from iPhone4 to iTunes (macbook).

Since updating to IOS5 my voice memos won't sync from iPhone4 to iTunes (macbook). They show in my iTunes but are grey so can't click on them. I need to put voice memos on a CD. Can someone help please?

First of all what PC type do you have, then what IOS are you running and finally what  Itunes are you running.
Oh and if this helps, check it out how to upload voice memos from iphone to iMac.

  • How do I sync my voice memos from itunes to my iphone 4?

I had an iPhone 3GS and I went away from it for a while. Well it was the worst decision and needless to say I am back to the iPhone. I have resynced my phone but I have several voice memos in iTunes that I would really like to get back on my phone but I seem to be havingtrouble with that part. I made a folder and put them all in it. I cheked it for download but they won't go on my phone. Can someone please help.

just posted this in another question, word for word.
after you connect your iPhone, click on the 'video' tab at the top and scroll down. you should see sections for 'rented movies', 'tv shows' and 'movies'. select the things you want to sync, hit save, sync, and you should have your movies.

  • IPhone syncs Voice Memos after unchecking sync box in iTunes

I do not want to sync my voice memos from my iphone to itunes so i have unchecked the sync voice memos option and they still continue to sync over and itunes creates a playlist for voice memos. I have tried this numerous times and even after a restore it still happens? Anyone have any ideas?

It will happen automatically. iTunes always syncs voice memos to your iTunes library when you connect iPhone to your computer. All you can do is delete them or ignore them.
Keep in mind that if you delete a voice memo on iPhone, it isn’t deleted from the Voice Memos playlist in iTunes. However, if you delete a voice memo from iTunes, it is deleted from iPhone the next time you sync with iTunes.
The "Include voice memos" button in the iTunes Music pane for your phone is only for syncing your voice memos playlist back to the phone.
