Iphone 4 won't turn on - even with reset ... ???

My daughter's iPhone 4 just randomly shut down a little while ago.  all it's showing is the black screen with the apple logo .... I've tried the hard reset and nothing ... all it did was after holding both buttons down then the screen went black .... then I waited for the apple logo .... it came up and then still nothing but a black screen with the logo ... power slide doesn't even come up.
Am I going to have to make a trip to the Apple Store for this ??  (note - she got this phone August 2012)
Thanks a bunch guys !!

Ok ... this worked ... my daughter wasn't too happy that she would lose all her data ... but she also needs her phone back ... she said she just updated a few days ago but doesn't think she saved her pics ... oh well .... all ths happened because she was trying to load Twitter and it wasn't loading ....
Thanks everyone !!

My Nokia 5800 ran out of batteries this morning, so logically I'd charge it. However, it won't turn on, even with the battery charger! I took out the battery and stuck it back in again, but it still won't turn on! The last sign of life was when there was a greyish screen, but I took the battery back out and it won't turn on again. Help! I'm scared I fried my phone somehow and I've only had it for a month!

nothing is wrong with ur device....don't worried
when 5800xm battery dead please put it out your memory card from 5800xm.and then charged a phone..........in few second  the phone display white screen and then display a nokia symbol and home screen.....

  • Iphone 4 won't turn on, even when I try to hard reset.

I have two 8gb Iphone 4s. They are probably close to 2 years old, if that.
Yesterday my wife's 4 shuts down out of nowhere and does not come back on. I have tried everything I know of to get it back on. Turning it back on the normal way with the hold button process, and doing a hard reset. It doesn't respond at all. The phone had more than 50% battery before it shut down, and I have been charging it all day afterwards. No response. I even tried plugging it into my pc itunes.
My iphone 4 is doing the same thing for the past month. It shuts down when i have it in pocket and not paying attention to it. The regular method of turning it on and off again does not work. I actually have to hard reset to get it back on. It's done this twice to me so far.
*** is going on with these devices? Are they built in a way to degrade and stop functioning after so long? Both of our phones are in super excellent condition. Clean with no marks on them. They are even still using IOS7 (iphone 4 won't handle 8)

  • MacBook Pro won't turn on even with green light on charger

i have a 2010 MacBook Pro. The battery has been permanently dead for years but it still turned on as long as I had the charger connected. Eventually the charger stopped working so I bought a new one. The light is green on the charger but the MacBook won't turn on now. I tried that reset thing as well as opening up the bottom and disconnecting and reconnecting the battery and that didn't worn either. I pressed the button on the side and there's green flashing lights so its definitely getting power it just won't turn on. I don't know what else to do at this point.

Was that 'reset thing' a SMC reset?

If so, a new battery may be the cure but bring the MBP to an Apple store genius bar for a definitive evaluation first.

  • Changed BIOS settings, Monitor won't turn on (Help with resetting CMOS)

    Hello,
I have an HP Envoy 700 PC Series. Running Windows 8.
Everything was working fine, until I changed/disabled some settings in the BIOS, an dnow the PC turns on without any display.
I need to reset my Bios settings.
I tried removing the CMOS battery for an hour, still the monitor doesn't turn on.
I tried playing with the jumpers (assuming I'm doing it right)..  Any pointers?!
Pc turns on normally without a display.  This all happened when I changed my BIOS settings.
    Any help would be great.
    Thank you

The fact that you removed the CMOS battery usually resets the BIOS so this may not be the problem, however, the computer must be left on for up to 24 hours to permit the battery to charge itself.
You may opt to try another monitor.

  • My iPhone 5 is charging but wont turn on even with the hard reset and restore. Keeps showing low battery. HELP PLEASE

My iPhone 5 shows it's charging but wont turn on even with the hard reset and restore. Just keeps showing low battery. HELP PLEASE
I usually sleep with my phone on charge through the night and I haven't had any problem since, I left my iphone 5 charging last night and in the morning it stated 100% charged so I decided to turn the power off normally (Hold the hold button till it says slide to turn power off) I turned it off and suddenly my iphone went straight to low battery. Although I have been having weird battery percentage changes for example it would stay on 1 % for an hour or so or drain really quickly.
I have restored it as i thought was the thing to do all it's doing it restoring and still stating low battery and I have charged it for hours +. I can't hard reset it nor restore it NEED HELP PLEASE.

  • My iPhone 5 won't turn on, the screen just stays black!

My iPhone 5 won't turn on I have held the power button to see if it's dead or not and it doesn't seem to change the screen it just black I thought the battery could of died or something similar it only happened about 2 hours ago please help!

    Hey Thermali,
Thanks for the question, and great troubleshooting so far. To completely isolate the issue, you may want to follow these steps:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
    - Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
    - Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion.
    Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
    - Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
    - After at least 15 minutes, if:
                   - The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
                   - The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
                   - Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
    - If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
                   - If the display turns on, go to step 4.
                   - If the display remains black, go to next step.
    - Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to
restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
    - If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

  • My iphone 5 won't turn on but when plugged into power source it keeps showing apple logo?

My iPhone 5 won't turn on at all and then when I plug it into a power source either into a plug socket or into my laptop with the USB cable it keeps showing start up screen with apple logo over and over again on a loop.
I have tried holding the top and front button together, this didn't work. I have also tried connecting to my laptop and following the reboot steps that I found on another discussion forum. Neither worked for me. The phone just won't reboot and it keeps continuing to loop the apple logo screen over and over without me touching anything.
The iPhone won't even connect to itunes and so itunes seems to not recognise my phone because its not even turning on (just continually apple logo screen appears for 5 seconds, goes to black screen and then repeats).
I don't know what is happening to it! Can anyone help? Is it a fault with the hardware or have I dont something to it? The next appointment at the genius bar for me is monday so I'm going to keep looking for any more recent ones until then but I really need to get it sorted before then so if anyone can help that would be great!
    Thanks

Try a reset when your iPhone is plugged into the charger as you say it does not respond when not plugged in...
Press and hold the Home and On/Off buttons simultaneously until you see the Apple logo, then release.  This may take up to 10 seconds.  This is the equivalent of a re-boot and you will not lose any data.
See if it will charge after this.

  • Dropped iPhone 4s, won't turn on?

I dropped my iPhone 4s face down onto my tile floor. The phone won't turn on, even when I plug it into charge. I can't reset it, since the lock screen is broken (has been for months) is there anything I can do, without having to go to the apple store?

Well... my phone inexplicably decided to work when I plugged it in this morning. I have no idea what happened, but suddenly it just needed a little charging and everything was fine. When I was looking for solutions last night, it seems I'm not the only one who this has happened to either.
Moral of the story: if it completely dies... let it sit overnight then plug it in to charge. I have no idea why it works, but it does.
You just knocked it out for a bit.  Once the swelling went down, it was fine again
Seriously, if it does develop problems later on and you want to go the out of exchange warranty route, you can always call Apple and arrange to do the swap via shipping.  The usual procedure is to send you a replacement with shipping info and packaging for you to return the damaged one.  You will have to provide a credit card number, but as long as you return the damaged phone within the time specified, your only charge is the quoted fee for the out of warranty exchange.
