If you're having issues doing the update directly on the phone, try using iTunes on your computer to complete the update.
Ensure you've done a backup & imported any photos or videos from your camera roll first, just in case something goes wrong.

After updating to Mavericks from Snow Leopard, everything works BUT all my photos were lost. If I buy the current version of iPhoto for $15, will it run on Mavericks?

If you have iPhoto from iLife '11, then I would first install it on your computer. In that way you would be able to get the new iPhoto free since you are running Mavericks.
iWork and iLife for Mac come free with every new Mac purchase. Existing users running Mavericks can update their apps for free from the Mac App Store℠. iWork and iLife for iOS are available for free from the App Store℠ for any new device running iOS 7, and are also available as free updates for existing users. GarageBand for Mac and iOS are free for all OS X Mavericks and iOS 7 users. Additional GarageBand instruments and sounds are available for a one-time in-app purchase of $4.99 for each platform.
The iWork apps are free with a new iOS device since 1 SEP 2013. They are free with a new Mac since 1 OCT 2013. They are also free with the upgrade to OS X Mavericks 10.9 if you had the previous version installed when you upgraded.

  • ITouch 3G won't find update to OS 4.2 (says "3.1.3 IS the current version")

OK I've paged through 25 pages of posts and haven't found anyone who had the same problem.
I tried updating my iTouch 3G to 4.2. When I go to Update it says "The version of the iPod software (3.1.3) is the current version."
I have tried this on 2 different PC laptops, after installing the latest version of iTunes (10.1.1) on each and got the same message.
Anyone who knows what's up with this.
    Thanks

Consider yourself lucky. 4.2 will drain your battery in about 6 hours, even in sleep mode. Look at some posts and you will see that thousands have had battery issues after installing 4.0/4.2 Now if you leave it in a charger all the time, then no problemo.

  • Iphone wont update to ios 6.0.1

I am trying to update my iPhone 4 16gb to iOS 6.0.1. My iPhone is currently running iOS 4.3.3. I plug it in to my computer, iTunes recongizes it and tells me there is an update for it. so i proceed with it. I was able to download the OS but was unsiccessful in uploading it. It took me 2 hrs to download it. After it finished downloading it, it started syncing the phone and backing up all user information. This backup process is taking forever. At its current rate it seems like it is going to take 5 years to get this phone updated. I need help, anybody, somebody, please, thank you

I have exactly the same problem

  • Everytime I go to get the iOS 5 download, I click "Check For Update" and everytime it says (4.2.1) is the current version. What's up with this?

    Hate my iPod

You could always manually download the IPSW file:
    http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/iphone-news/ios-5-released-by-apple-download-now/
I'd recommend holding off on updating though since the activation server is just being hammered and is signing about half it's request... in english that means you have about a 50% chance of successfully updating to iOS 5. Wait until tomorrow and I'm sure you won't have any problems.

  • TS3212 my iphone wont update to ios 6, it says server is temporarily unavailable

My phone is not uploading ios 6.1.3 it is saying can't be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. I have none of my contacts, how do I restore my phone?

This message usually indicates the iPhone has been hacked/jailbroken.  If this is the case it can not be updated.

  • I just updated my itunes to 10.4.1 and i then tried to update my iphone 4 to ios 4.3 but it says that 4.2.10 is the current version. can anyone help?

okay, so i just updated itunes to 10.4.1 and noticed my iphone was still 4.2.10
but when i click update it says 4.2.10 is the current version....i want to update it to 4.3

If you have a Verizon phone, 4.2.10 IS the latest update.  A cursory search of this forum would likely have gotten you the answer much faster.

  • App Store keeps asking me to update to iTunes 11.1.3, even though that's what I'm already running

Every time my app store program automatically checks for updates, it wants me to update to iTunes 11.1.3, even though I already have -- many times (and the App Store shows this, in the "updates run in the past 30 days" window). In fact I am running iTunes 11.1.3 right now. What's the problem?

    Hi scoolio,
Right off the top of head, I can think of two places where "check automatically for updates" can be selected or deselected by the user.
The first is within the Software Update preferences Pane where one can select daily, weekly or monthly or none.
Myself I never allow my computer to update anything automatically; rather I conservatively choose doing such things manually to keep my my meager Snow Leopard happily purring.
The second place that I never select auto check for updates is within iTunes itself.
I don't know about the App Store. I have found that place to be problematic... so I stay away from it unless I absolutely need to update something that I purchased there. BTW, I'm not happy with the way that the App store is evolving. I guess one could say that it is set-up in a planned obsolescence kind of way. Hoops. Jumping. We don't like it.
Nonetheless, I would check out the 2 checkboxes that I mentioned just for the sake of knowing how they are set. If that doesn't help then you know it could be the current App Store iteration - which I don't have.

    mm~

  • Troubleshoot: when I try to update my Iphone 4 (ios 4.3.3) to the latest ios via itunes. It gives me a message "This version of iTunes (10.6.3) is the current version." Why?

Hello - I am trying to update my Iphone 4 from its current Ios (4.3.3) to the latest Ios (7.x.x?). I currently do not sync using icloud, and have only started syncing to my itunes today.
So far, I have backed up my Iphone using Itunes, transferred all my purchases using Itunes, and imported all my photos using Iphoto.
Then clicked on my Iphone in the left hand Column and in the screen that appeared found the "Update" button. Next to the update button read "A newer version of the iPhone software is available (version7.0). To update your iPhone with the latest software, click Update."
I then clicked the "Update" button and a pop-up message reading "This version of iTunes (10.6.3) is the current version." appeared.
Please advise why this happened, and how I should go about restoring and updating this Iphone.
After updating to the latest IOS, my next step will be to sign up for iCloud.
    Thanks clever mac folk!

    Hello hsielglad,
Thank you for your question. iTunes 11.1 is required to update to and sync with iOS 7.  If you are still running iTunes 10.6.3, I recommend trying to obtain the update by going to the iTunes menu and selecting Check for Updates.

If you continue to get the message that iTunes is up to date, you can download the latest version of iTunes here:
    Download iTunes

Once the file downloads, double click on the installation file that downloaded to initiate the installation.

goodnight. as you know apple has evolved considerably until today but there are people who do not have ability to buy new products. in my case I would like to know why the apple do not let the iphone 3g update to iOS 4.3 as are several applications that can not put on my iphone 3g due to this reason. Why does not Apple make a repository with applications for ios 4.2.1? or else do not work in an update to ios 4.3 on iphone 3g?

This has nothing to do with Apple, as Apple does not make the apps.
This is the decision of the app maker.
Contact those app makers and ask them why they do this.

  • Trying to update my iPhone 4 from iOS 5.1.1 to 6.1 via iTunes. When I click the "Update" button, I just get a message saying the iTunes is at the current version (6.1), but no action re the iOS update.

I'm trying to update my iPhone 4 from iOS 5.1.1 to 6.1. When I try to do this using iTunes on my MacBook Pro (OS X v 10.5.8), with my iPhone in its cradle, clicking the "Update" button in Tunes gets a message saying "This version of iTunes (10.6.1) is the current version." I can't get the iOS update to download.
When I try to update to the iPhone directly, I get a message saying "iOS 6.0.1 failed verification because you are no longer connected to the Internet" at the Verifying Update step. I noticed that this message refers to iOS 6.0.1, even though I want to update to 6.1. It is possible that, a few weeks ago, I may have downloaded but not installed v 6.0.1.
Thanks for any help with this problem

I tried powering down and re-starting the iPhone (as suggested at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275). This seems to have cleared the "...not connected to the Internet" problem, and iOS 6.1 is now in the process of downloading.
Thanks very much for your feedback.

  • No Photos on my iPhone since Update to iOS 5

I made the Update to iTunes 10.5 on my Notebook with Windows XP and the Update to iOS 5 on my iPhone 3GS.
I had a lot of Problems (the Backup had an Error, my outgoing Mails were all deleted in all Mail Accounts, the Synchronisation of Music and Apps needs a lot of Synchronisations and a lot of Time and so on) with these Updates and I need more than 12 Hours at the Moment to repair all the Errors.
    My last Problem is:
There is no Synchronisation of Photos between iTunes 10.5 and iPhone with iOS 5.
I can not see my Photos in my iPhone.
The Capacity in iTunes 10.5 shows 4,4 GB Fotos on my iPhone, but in my iPhone, there is no Folder in the Photo App and so I can not see the 4,4 GB of my Photos.
This Problem comes with iOS 5. I had this Problem never before.
First, I gave in iTunes a OK for a Home Sharing of Music, Videos, Photos and so on for the Folders and for the iPhone.
Second, I was in iTunes in Photos and deleted the Check in the Folder Photos.
Third, I made a Synchronisation with iTunes and the iPhone.
Fourth, the Capacity of the Photos was then only at 0,17 GB.
Fifth, I close iTunes and switched off the iPhone.
Sixth, I started iTunes and iPhone new and bring both together with the USB-Port.
Seventh, the Syncronisation started and the Capacity of the Photos in iTunes was at 0,17 GB, too.
Eigth, I set a new Check in the Folder Photos in iTunes for a Synchronisation.
Ninth, the Capacity showed 4,4 GB again.
Tenth, the Synchronisation started and showed on the Display "2 Photos of 16.000".
Eleventh, the Synchronisation Circle stopped after 10 Seconds, but the Notebook worked 2 Minutes longer.
And after this the Synchronisation stopped appruptely / crashed (?) and the Photos are "unvisible" on the iPhone.
    Is this a known Bug?
Has Someone a Solution for a correct Synchronisation of the Photos, so that I can see successfully my Photos in my iPhone again?
Thank you very much for your Help!

    Hi rickwebby,
If you are having audio issues with your iPhone after updating to iOS 6.1.3, you may want to update to the recently released iOS 6.1.4 and see if the issue persists:
