IPhone 4G Small World Connection
So here's a cool story. When I bought my first generation iPhone, way back when, I bought it from the AT&T store. They didn't give away the cool black iPhone bags with their purchases, and I had serious bag envy. I asked some of my friends if I could have their bags, but they had all thrown theirs away. I wrote to the Apple form, and a very nice Apple guy wrote to me offering me his bag. As it turned out, I left in West Houston and he lived in way north Houston, but we both worked in central Houston so we made arrangements to meet on a nearby street corner and he very kindly brought me his Apple bag in perfect condition. Fast forward a couple of years later. I had moved to north Houston, and when iPhone 4G came out, I reserved mine for pickup at the store near where I lived. After work, I rushed to get in line, only to learn the wait was about 4 hours. During the long wait, I got chatty with the people around me, and as is always the case, I told the story about the very nice man who gave me his bag. The guy behind me in line said: "I know. That was me!". I looked at him more closely. And it WAS him!! Now .... imagine the odds? 1) that we both went to the same apple store, that he had to have the new iPhone 4, like me, and that he would end up in line right behind me; and that I would tell that story, that he would remember, etc.... That's what I call some interesting Apple goodness. I wonder where I will see that interesting man again??!! And what a rude girl I am! I didn't even get his name!!
So, while we were in line, he mentioned how much he liked the Mac! I confessed my reservations, and he debunked each one. I am now a proud owner of a MacBrook Pro and have since converted three others to love it as much as I do!!

Did the issue also happen while using WIFI?
If the Lync client doesn’t update to the latest version, please update to the latest version and then test again.

IPhone 3GS won't connect to router?
I used to be able to use wifi with no problems at my grandparents' house, but not anymore. A few months ago, something must have gone wrong, because all of the sudden, my iPhone started saying "Cannot connect to *SSID here*". I tried to reset the router, restore my phone, reset network settings, do manual settings, change the security settings, but nothing works. The sad thing is, all other devices that try to connect to the network work, it is only this iPhone.
This is making me so frustrated, because my iPhone connects to any other router, just not the one I use at my grandparents' house! It is annoying because I'm almost out of data for the month on my plan, and I need the wifi. The router is a linksys WRT160N, if you need to know.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.Please read this :

Having done a lot of reading today and having found a very good online tablet magazine (will post link tomorrow) there seems to be a few tech bods onto the problem.
The magazine I was reading identified wifi problems within hours of the ios 6 release and have been analysing since then with almost daily updates - the story seems to be:
The apple authenthication transmission is normal, it should slip through event prior to a full handshake with the host network being completed - however if not authenthicated then apple will not permit the device to connect (kills the connection) this is designed to protect apple from counterfeiting. So thats problem 1 if you dont receive a token from apple.
Problem 2 is that ios 6 only supports ipv6 (the new ip protocol) whereas outside silicon valley a large proportion of routers modems etc are still ipv4 protocol.
So youre locked into ipv6 in a world where ipv4 devices are everywhere and apple have not allowed for the ability to handle both protocols. This is like GM telling you your car requires an upgrade, everything will improve etc and as part of the upgrade fits a fuel cell motor and stays silent when their upgraded vehicles are simply parked up because they cannot get fuel.
A very basic expectation would have been dual protocol handling - we know the HW supports ipv4 as all wad fine on ios5.
So its going to be hit and miss with networks - more hit than miss in techy areas like silicon valley, but more miss in places like where I am - a small town in rural Switzerland.
Only apple can fix this with a patch to enable ipv4 protocol handling.
There you go. you just need to buy a new router, I'm sure Apple has one for sale, cause it's not there fault for sure.

Iphone 5 no longer connects to my PC after last update OS8.1
Firstly I am not a "tech" expert and really do not understand the whole lingo etc - in fact I find it VERY overwhelming whenever I have an issue that needs to be solved with all the massive volume of technical jargon thrown around and end up being totally lost and frustrated - so if there is anyone who can help that will be just wonderful.
I have an I-phone 5 and a Toshiba PC which runs Windows 7 - easy so far.
I use my phone for a small business (otherwise I wouldn't have one at all) and when I go to do quotes I take photos and then downloaded them to my PC for future reference (I have ALWAYS been able to do this by simply plugging my phone into a free USB port (always use the same one for all devices) and away we go all works great.
HOWEVER, since the last 2 updates my Iphone will no longer connect to my PC. After the first one was botched (the one that was recalled quickly) and OS8.1 (which I know have) - whenever I do this exact same procedure my Iphone does no longer appear.
How do I make it work again - the simple, easy, straightforward way that it used to (I guess that since the Apple thing has now been "improved" and made "better and easier" for me it will be impossible to do?Hello there philp_69,
If I understand correctly it sounds like your phone hasnt been recognized in iTunes on your PC since the last couple of updates. I would use the troubleshooting in the following article which will walk you through the steps one by one.

Yes in theory, though do check your phone contract small print and keep an eye on your data usage - in theory local data sent across the LAN created by the hotspot should not use 3G data but some carriers seem to treat it as internet data usage.

I am using iphone 4s iOS 7.1.2.
My Macbook is connected to internet through ethernet. OS is Mavericks.
I want to use internet sharing from my Macbook so that I can connect my iphone to internet through wifi.
My phone is not connecting or pairing up with my Macbook. Its showing the name of network but not getting connected. It shows its processing and processing is for ever (Small revolving circle).
Iphone is perfectly getting connected to other available wifi networks.
Kindly suggest what and where could be the problem and how can I resolve it.

Iphone does not stay connected to wi-fi.
When using apps or when in sleep mode my iphone does not stay connected to my wi-fi. All other items within the house have no issues with staying connected to my wi-fi.
By design, when entering sleep mode, the iPhone will disconnect from WiFi to conserve battery. If you want the WiFi connection to remain persistent, plug your phone into a power source.

I am a group exercise instructor and rely heavily on my playlists. My old phone is an iphone 4s and I just bought an Iphone 6. I also have a macbook where I keep my itunes account, but I create all my playlists on my phone. I need to transfer those playlists from my old iphone into itunes in my computer so that I can then add them to my new iphone 6. However, none of the playlists on my iphone appear when I connect to my macbook. I have read other threads where the suggestion was to attach the old phone to itunes, find the phone in itunes and click the little arrow to the left to show the playlists. Then right click on the playlist and export it, saving it to the desktop, to then import it into itunes. However, in my case, the playlists do not show up when the phone is connected to itunes. I have clicked on the little arrow and all I get is "music", "purchased", etc., but none of my playlists. I'm sure some years back I probably deleted something in my itunes library and now none of my playlists show. Please help me. I would hate to have to recreate all of my playlists. Thank you!
I know it sounds weird, and that is the reason I posted my question. Because my case is not like all the ones I've found online and it's confusing. I added a screen capture of my itunes with my old iphone (the one that houses my playlists) connected to it.
My playlists "ARE" in my iphone 4s. They are still there even though they do not show up when I plug in to itunes in my computer.
When connecting my phone to itunes on my macbook, the playlists do not appear anywhere in itunes. I have found my connected iphone icon, I have clicked on the arrow next to it and it does pull up the standard lists that come with the iphone/itunes: Music, Movies, TV shows, books. That's it! below that is "Genius" and below "Geniuns" is "PLAYLISTS" but the only playlist of mine that shows there is one that I created several years back titled "90's music" and that one I created it on my computer, not my phone. Under "90's music" there are also other standard playlists that itunes automatically adds.
Does anyone else have this issue or know how to get around this. I am starting to think that I am going to have to recreate these lists on my computer -

I have the same trouble. After reading many internet sites around this subject I found the following solution.
Although apple explained that it is not necessary with the lightning connector to use it in a special direction this seems not to be true.
I have just turned my connector by 180° and it is working again.
Hopefully this direction does not fail too. There are only 2 possibilities -

Ah, sure it actually won't. I have the same problem, and I contacted Apple Support. They told me that there is an incompatability between the iphone 5 and MacBook Pro Retina such that Bluetooth pairing is not possible.
The Support Agent actually had the audacity to tell me this was part of the design of the OS on the MacBook Pro, like Windows people saying, "That's not a bug. It's a feature!!"
Personally, I think this is insane. While I was trying to tether the iphone to the MacBook Pro retina for an internet connection, there are other reasons related to file transfers for which one would want to pair the iphone 5 with the MacBook Pro retina.
I am hoping this "feature" is fixed in iOS 7, and/or in some dot release of Mac OS 10.8.
By the way, the personal hotspot feature on my Verizon iphone 5 works great either via a wifi or USB connection. There are occaisions, however, when one would 1) not have a USB cable, and/or 2) have another wifi relationship between the phone and a network that one would not want to have to "forget" in order for it not to connect to that wifi network. The Macbook will not find the iphone as a wifi hotspot if the iphone is connected to wifi in the first place. At least mine won't.
