IPhone 4s (7.0.2) hangs at 'Syncing Contacts' with iTunes 11.1
There seems to be a myriad of these various syncing issues posted; none of which have been answered and none that are exactly what I'm experiencing.
My wife's 4s (iOS 7.0.2) has been hanging at syncing Contacts on iTunes 11.1 (iMac; Mountain Lion) the past several days. It never gets past "Syncing Contacts".
Doesn't anyone have any advice. I've hard re-booted her iPhone; re-booted the iMac.
We don't have this problem with either my iPhone 5 (7.0.2), her 2nd-gen iPad or her old iPot Touch.
We share the same contacts and calendars across all of these devices and the iMac.
May have solved it so am posting back.
I had tried several times to sync the 4s after turning off the syncing of 'Contacts' (but telling iTunes to "retain" the contacts that are on the phone and NOT delete them). That managed to get through all other sync stages. However it still wouldn't sync completely; again hanging at 'Syncing Contacts' whenever I would turn that feature of the sync process back on.
Just this morning I opted to Repair Permissions on the iMac's hard drive. I noticed severl repairs made to iTunes-related files' permissions.
Tonight on the first try, the 4s synced trouble free.

I have trouble syncing the brand new iphone 4s with itunes account.
When I connect the phone it brings the itune page up on the left showing the iphone device as iphone but the centre page it just a white page withe a box giving me two choices. which one to start phone as a new account or make a a back up from an ipad that has been connected previously that i dont want to back up from. I do wish to backup my contacts that are itunes. Can anyone advice please. If you don't want to restore your backup onto your new phone, choose the option that says to start phone as a new device (it shouldn't say new account)

I just bought an iPhone 4s yesterday and it wouldn't connect to the iTunes 10.6.3 I had already on my laptop for my husbands 3gs and my brother in laws iPhone 4. Neither of them ever had a problem syncing with itunes. When I tried I was told to uninstall itunes and reinstall a 64bit version. Took several attempts but I finally got it. Then it said that I needed to upgrade my apple mobile device support and for me to uninstall itunes again and reinstall it. I have done all of this several times and still cannot get it to work right. I have uninstalled every Apple software listed on my computer and had to reinstall it all. Help!!!!!!!
Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.) -
Music missing from iPhone 4s after update to IOS 8.3
Please, make sure you follow these instructions: Sync your iPhone, iPad, and iPod with iTunes using USB - Apple Support
Or, if you use Wi-FI to sync music, make sure you have it enabled on your phone and wait till all the music tracks are synced.
To set up syncing over Wi-Fi, follow these instructions: Sync your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch with iTunes using Wi-Fi - Apple Support -
After new OSX update 10.9.3 and iTunes 11.2 (114). Still not able to sync contacts/calendar. I deleted my icloud account under sys pref. Unchecked sync over wifi in iTunes. Restart. Plug in iphone. No luck. Still says sync over wifi under info tab.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!!https://discussions.apple.com/message/25281097 - "SyncServices has been removed in Mavericks, so syncing using iTunes no longer works (we're talking about contacts, calendars etc., not music)."

'OS X Mavericks v10.9 and later do not use SyncServices. Instead, Mavericks supports sharing your information using several network-based and cloud-based solutions. If you want to sync your information across multiple devices and computers, you should use one or more of these methods. These include iCloud, CardDAV servers, CalDAV servers, and servers that utilize the Exchange ActiveSync protocol.' -
Syncing contacts with iTunes without using iCloud
Since the new iTunes Version 11.1.3 it seems not possible to sync contacts, browser bookmarks and other things via WLAN sync. I don't want to see my contacts on Apple servers in order to be synced via iCloud.
Is there any possibility to sync an iPhone with iTunes without using iCloud. I'm quite angry Apple not leaving the decision on how to sync my iPhone up to me.User error.

please help
Hi Luke.Wilkins6,
It sounds like you are pressing the top Sleep/Wake button and the phone seems to shutdown rather than go to sleep, and occasionally youll see a purple screen rather than the Apple logo when you start it. I would start by resetting the phone, with these steps:
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
If the issue persists I would use the following article to backup your device to iTunes and restore it from your backup. If the issue persists, then restore it one more time as new using the same article to isolate to the backup file itself.
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups

Can I delete the contacts list stored on itunes and replace it with the contacts list that I presently have on my iphone? The list stored on itunes has many inaccuracies and I don't want them placed back on my phone. Thanks.
There are no contacst store on itunes. Itunes is not an address book.
Your contacts are in whatever program you chose to sync (Outlook for example).
Your contacts live on your computer and are simply mirrored on your iphone.
You can delete all contacts from your computer, then add one unique contact on the computer. When you sync you should then get the option to merge. -
Does syncing contacts with itunes take information from the phone or from computer email
Im trying to update current iphone 3GS via itunes so that I can move all data / information to new iphone 4G3
When syncing the old phone it wants to update contacts. is it taking contacts from phone to computer or computer to phone. what happens if they are both different?

My iPhone 5 ios7, won't sync music with itunes 11.1.2.32
My iPhone 5 ios7.0.3, won't sync music with itunes 11.1.2.32.
The Sync starts and finsihes but no changes are made to the content on the iphone. No files transfer. Tried both wifi and cable sync.Sorry, but this doesn't work either. Thank you for the response though.
I originally tried the Manually Manage Music and Videos and even though I selected what I wanted to copy and then clicked the Sync button.....nothing gets copied over. I then tried copying over my entire library (and I expected the phone to explode since my library is HUGE) and clicked the Sync button....nothing got copied over.
I have uninstalled iTunes, reinstalled iTunes (and lost half my library thank you Apple).
I have deleted my iPhone backup.
I have updated my iTunes (not that there were any new updates).
I have updated my iPhone (not that there were any new updates).
I have changed and tested every single setting, every which way possible and NOTHING works.
I can sync movies, pictures, apps - no problem whatsoever. But music? Forget it.
I hate the iPhone and I won't recommend it to ANYONE. All I wanted was an all-in-one device to make my life easier and this is NOT IT! This should not be this hard and as far as I'm concerned, Apple failed BIG TIME. -
My iPhone 4S will not complete the sync process with iTunes. It hangs up on Step 3 of 6 (preparing to sync). Prior to trying to sync the iPhone I updated iTunes. Any suggestions?
I've already tried unplugging the iPhone and restarting my computer - twice.

Since I installed ios 6.1 in my iPhone 4, I can't sync it with iTunes. Can annyone help me? I have already reinstalled iTunes and reseted the iPhone, but it still doesn't sync. Thank you.
Hello Sean,
It sounds like you are constantly needing to restore your phone because it keeps going into recovery mode. Usually putting a device into recovery mode and restoring it can help isolate an issue to your iPhone hardware if an issue persists afterwards. I would try manually putting it into recovery mode and restoring it 1 more time:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
If that does not resolve it the symptoms indicate to me that it is a hardware issue causing this to happen and would seek service for it:
iPhone Repair - Other Repairs

Iphone wifi syncing issue with itunes 10.7
My wife and I each have iphone 4's syncing on our respective computers running Win XP Pro SP3. After upgrading to itunes 10.7 and iOS 6, itunes doesn't reliably sync via wifi. It will sync once then won't a second time unless the computer is rebooted. If I try and click the sync button on itunes, it looks for the displayed iphone then says it can't find it and the iphone disappears. This is happening on both computers. I can direct connect the iphone with usb cable and sync, but it won't sync via wifi without rebooting. I've click the "sync with wifi" button off then on. Nothing works.
We both upgraded to iphone 5's. It didn't solve the problem. I upgraded my computer to a new desktop running Win 8 Pro. Everything transferred fine and the initial sync went well, but the problem persists. After my iphone 5 sync'd with itunes overnight, the next morning it wouldn't sync again via wifi. Again, trying to initiate a sync from itunes caused the it to look for the iphone and not finding it, the iphone disappeared from itunes. Once I restarted Win 8 and itunes, the iphone showed up in itunes.
It's not the iphones(it happened with both 4's and 5's), the computers(two differnet computers) or, the OS( happens with Win XP and Win 8) so it's got to be an isssue with iTunes 10.7 and possibly it's interaction with iOS 6. We didn't have the problem before 10.7 and iOS 6 (upgraded same time).
Any suggestions? This is annoying to not have these reliably sync without intervention.
Thanks,
ZJust found another thread that helped...deleted the iTunes Library Genius file and now the Mac can load the library!

I have a 3rd gen Ipod touch. When I connect it to my Macbook pro to sync it with itunes, it doesn't show up on iTunes. When I connect my iPhone 6 to my computer it syncs, backs up, ect. How do I make this older iPod show up on my iTunes?
Hi ChristianHelpplz,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It seems like your iPod touch is not recognized by iTunes on your Mac, but your iPhone 6 is working normally.
I recommend starting with these steps to troubleshoot your iPod touch and connection with your Mac:
Check your USB connections
Unplug other USB devices from your Mac and try again.
Try a different USB port.
Try a different USB cable.
Restart your device
Restart your iOS device or reset your iPod.
Restart your Mac
Turn your Mac off and back on.
Update your software
Check for software updates on your Mac.
Check for an iTunes update.
Check your security software
If you have security software installed, learn how to resolve issues between iTunes and your security software.

If you've tried these steps and your iPod touch is still not recognized, try placing it into Recovery Mode next:
