IPhone 4s as mouse?

I have an iPhone 4s and an imac with bluetooth and its on the same wifi network as my iphone 4s. I would like to use my 4s like a magic mouse rather than a magic trackpad and drag my iPhone around my desk using the gyroscope and the screen for mutitouch gestures. Using it as a magic trackpad would be nice and I would consider it; but I prefer the magic mouse idea. Is there an app for that? I would pay for an app like that. Thank you. :D

Yes, but I'm having a hard time finding an app that meets the criteria.

  • Can i use my iPhone as a mouse for my Macbook Pro?

Hi guys, im very curious if youre able to use an iphone as a mouse for mac. When i mean a mouse i mean as a regular mouse and not that mouse app thing with the screen going on. I mean literally as a regular mouse which you can use like if it was a normal mouse.
Very curious like i mentioned and i hope theres an solution for this as well.

oh kind of disappointed, thought i could do literally EVERYTHING with an iphone.

  • Hello I recently downloaded an app on my iphone 4s - Remote mouse- so i can control my laptop that is connected to my tv, it used to work fine and now the connection fails, I downloaded another app and the same problem occurs, its not the firewall

Hello I recently downloaded an app on my iphone 4s - Remote mouse- so i can control my laptop that is connected to my tv, it used to work fine and now the connection fails, I downloaded another app and the same problem occurs, its not the firewall and both phone and laptop are conected to the same wifi, i also tried to connect it manually with the ip address and still no connection, can you help??

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Then reset: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.(No data loss) Try it again.

  • IPhone syncing causes my mouse to stop working...

Anyone having this problem? I plug in the iPhone and my mouse freezes. I unplug the USB connector for the mouse and reconnect, then it works again. I've tried switching USB ports...no dice.
Also, tonight I tried syncing the Phone for the first time since the new software update. An error popped up that it couldn't read the iPhone and it needed to reset to factory settings. I did...the software update completed. The iPhone option disappeared from the iTunes menu and my phone says "Sync in Progress." Problem is it's been like this for over an hour now.

I have the internal Bluetooth card and a Microsoft BT 5000 mouse and have found that it can take up to 30 seconds for OSX to detect it and my Apple BT keyboard at startup. I just keep slowly moving the mouse until the cursor responds on screen. BTW, 10.5.8 seems to have improved the detection time.

  • Generic IR remote iPhone app?

I just switched to a 27" iMac, and discovered that my old mac's IR remote is useless with it. Got the Apple Remote app from the app store, which works fine with iTunes, but I need a more general purpose app that will let me use my iPhone as a remote while using iDVD, etc. Any recommendations from those who have gone there before me?
    iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), iPhone 5c, 5s

Remote mouse seems to be what I was looking for: turns your iPhone into a mouse pointer. For a little extra, you get a media player control that duplicates the old IR remote. Sweet!

  • Clamshell mode using air mouse?

Hi guys, is it possible to use an iphone with air mouse to control a macbook pro when in clamshell mode? I have the mac linked up to the tv and just want to use it for videos and youtube etc....so no real need for a full blue tooth mouse/keyboard set up...

As long as the computer retains its network connection it should work. Try it. Either it works or it doesn't.

  • Wireless Mighty Mouse jumps around?!

    Hi there!
I have an quite annoying issue with my wireless mm:
Sometimes it lets the cursor jump around and it is almost impossible to control it.
I am pretty sure it does not have to do with dust on the lens or shiny surfaces, because for 2 weeks it worked without any worries in the same environment. I almost believed the problem was gone.
Most of the time I manage to solve the problem by switching the mouse on&off for a couple of times and/or reinitializing the bluetooth connection.
Then it usually works for a while. But next time i wake my MacBook it starts all over again!!
    Does anyone know this problem?
    Thanks for any help!

I too am having this problem. I bought the mouse about two months ago and the day I synced it with my iMac it started freaking out too. I tried all the usual things, i.e. cleaned it, tried different mouse pads, tuned down tracking, resync it, everything. It just didn't work, but then I went on a trip and decided, "What the heck, I'll take the mouse and try fixing it on my MacBook Air." I get to my destination and resync it with the Air and it works perfectly, so I figured my desktop was the problem. I get home a few days latter after having used the mouse flawlessly and try it again in my house, when suddenly, it begins to jump around my MacBook Air. So I turned off the Bluetooth on my iMac (only a few feet from me and the Air) and the problem went away... for about 30 minutes, then my mother got on her iMac in her room, one room away, and lo- the problem did recur!
I believe the problem has something to do with the fact that the Mighty Mouse and the Wireless Keyboard both use the entire gamete of frequencies the Bluetooth has, thus, it is trying to sync with anything with Bluetooth in it, cellphones, PS3's, ext... Because if I take one of my MacBook's out into my ranch, far from anything, including my iPhone, the Mighty Mouse works! But the second I bring something with Bluetooth in range of the mouse, BAM! CRAZY MOUSE TIME!
I have dug around the Bluetooth shell inside OS X and found you can limit which bandwidths your computer receives, but this solves nothing if it is the mouse itself trying to sync with every computer and phone within range. I doubt this is how Apple intended the thing to work but they may have assumed that it was only meant as a traveling mouse, or perhaps to be used by people with only one Mac?
Perhaps there is a firmware patch out there that might solve this? I have seen ones for OS 9 and below, but nothing about OS X

  • Has anyone experienced this error when syncing your iphone..."iphone could not be synced b/c the connection the iphone was lost"????

i have been trying to sync my iphone and keep getting the following error: iphone could not be synced as the connection to the iphone has been lost"....suggestions please.

Try one or more of the following troubleshooting steps:
Connect the phone directly to a USB port on the computer, not to a USB hub.
Disconnect all other USB devices except the iPhone, keyboard and mouse.
If it's a desktop or tower computer use a port on the back of the computer rather than the front.

  • Turn iPhone into a Scrolling Device?

Is there an app that allows you to use your iphone to scroll webpages or back and forth in a film strip, or perform similar functions to what the new apple mouse will do?
    Thanks!

I don't understand your question. Do you want to use your iPhone as a mouse, that functions like the new Apple mouse, with your computer?

  • Iphone 8Gb-ver. Bluetooth chip.........

what can we expect form the SDK does the bluetooth chip in the iphone have the ability to do more than sync to headset/ car hands free kits?
    Message was edited by: mcints77

Based on the information publicly available about the SDK, people working with the SDK wouldn't be able to write additional Bluetooth profiles.
No background processes, no changing OS components, and applications being sandboxed.
However, the bluetooth chip itself is not the limitation. Bluetooth chips don't actually control what Bluetooth profiles are supported. They are just the medium. Does your ink pen control what language you write in? Sure, you can't do languages requiring a calligraphy style, but you can write multiple languages with a pen. Likewise Bluetooth is the means of transfer. Profiles determine the content.
Profiles are software based. Some don't make sense other than for possibly novelty effect. For example using your iPhone as a mouse (HID profile).
There have been no announcements about if Apple will be adding profiles. Any suggestion they would be adding them would be speculation.

  • Keyboard and mouse not connecting while sleeping

iMac 21.5 inch late 2009 running OS Lion 10.7.2
My computer will go to sleep then when I go to use again the bluetooth keyboard, magic mouse and trackpad are not responding. As if they were not connecting. I checked all my settings and they are correct. The wake with bluetooth devices option is on. While the computer is sleeping I can press the power button and it will come out of sleep to my login prompt but I still can not type in my password or use any mouse. The only way to make it work again is a hard restart.

I have exactly same problem with iMac and Mac mini.
Problem was already with Snow Leopard and continues with Lion.
Have you tried to use usb mouse or keyboard?
I have, and even they don´t operate.
As well iPhone/iPad mobile mouse don't operate.
PRAM & SMC reset done, no help.
If trying to ping with another computer, you can't find that Mac in problem. Not via WLAN or ethernet.
Disconnecting eg. a usb hard disk shows a message on screen that disk was not disconnect propely... etc, showing that computer is alive.
Mac mini is used only for watching TV, there are no other sofware installed except the OS.
Edit: Different versions of VLC installed on both Mac for watching videos / TV
All system is updatet to latest version.
MacBook Air don't have this issue at all.

  • My brand new Macbook PRO crashed completely after it went through the iOS 10.7.4 update, I lost everything and Apple just wants to replace the HD and let me deal with the hassle.

Last Thursday May 10th I received a prompt from the Automatic Update to update the iOS to Ver. 10.7.4, set the start and was watching the progress when it stopped with an error message saying that it was not able to update, right below there was a buttom "RESTART", pressed the buttom and waited to re-boot.....That was the end of my computer, somehow the update crashed my HD beyond recover, it would only show the gray screen with Apple logo in the center and kept beeping, BEEP BEEP BEEP.....PAUSE.....BEEP BEEP BEEP.....PAUSE.....on and on and on and it never past that.
Friday May 11 I took it to a retailer where I received the bad news that the HD was crashed and the teck couldn't even try to copy anything from it as it couldn't locate it. I checked iCloud on a hope that all my stuff would be there but new surprise, iCloud didn't kept all of my stuff as it was programmed to.
Now here is the funny part, the tech from the retailer informed me that the only thing they could do was to order a new HD for my 4 months old Macbook and that the time to have my computer back will be at least 15 days, now that is the funny part, I fail to understand why do I have to suffer the hassle of loosing all my data plus wait at least 15th days to have my computer back (meanwhile loose work) on a problem caused by Apple, PROBLEM, not machine defect, clearly my computer had no problem untill I followed the procedure to update.
On Saturday May 12 I contacted Local Apple Support (I have failed to mention that I live in Brasil) and they informed me that what the dealer said was the only thing that could be done, too bad for me if I lost everything, going to loose several days of work and whenever I receive my computer back will have to re-construct all my life and deal with the forever lost data.....DEAL WITH IT
After a couple of discussion with Apple Support and the Dealer, I made my decision to take the Macbook to the dealer today for repair and meanwhile I'm opening a case with the Brazilian Justice to have Apple honor with all the trouble and hassle that it is causing me, it's said that I have to take this type of action as I'm a very fan of Apple and it's products, have had several iPods, iPhones, Macbooks, Keyboards, Mouses, Apple TV, etc.....This i the first time I have a problem with a Apple product and got a taste of the "Apple Care", it seems like Apple is more concerned on seeling products then keeping long time customers happy.
One last thing, today when I was at the dealer to drop my computer for repair, the Technician informed me that he also had a computer crashed and the HD erase on Sunday May 13th in the same way of mine, after the update everything was gone, also he said that we were not the only ones, iPads and iPhones were going trough the same situation, update causing complete breakdown.
WORD OF ADVISE, BE 1000% SURE THAT YOU HAVE EVRYTHING BACKED UP BEFORE YOU GO THROUGH AN UPDATE.

If I need to back-up every hour of my life in order to be able to save everything from something like this I won´t do anything else.....at least we should be able to trust that Apple tests this updates so situations like this won´t happen.
That's exactly what Time Machine does for you.  It backs up every hour, so you don't have to.  While it is backing up, you keep on working.  Time Macvhine came with your Mac and you chose not to use it.
The 10.7.4 update did not cause your hard disk to fail.  Hard disk fail due to mechanical causes.  They are extremely reliable, but that doesn't mean every hard disk will last a long time.  Your mileage WILL vary!
If you are dependent on your computer and the data stored on it, then you should make sure you have AT LEAST two copies of all data and probably three or four.  You should use at least two means of backing up in case the backup software has a problem.  And you should consider having a backup computer if you live in an area where replacement takes too long (whatever too long is for your business).
Apple hardware and software is very, very good.  You have documented your experience of this.  But NO hardware or software is perfect.  You also have experience of this.
It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that your system is set up to protect your data and availability of computing resources.

  • Deep Fried USB ports.... PLEASE HELP!

    Hello everyone...
I was messing around with a 4-Port USB Hub that I got the other day. It's a cheapy that didn't come with an external power adapter, but a port to plug one in. So I found the appropriate size power adapter (from an internet router) and decided to plug the hub into my G4 iBook. As soon as I did so, the computer quit, and I'm assuming that there was a power surge. I restarted after unplugging and removing the battery. Now, one of my USB ports is completely F'd and the other one doesn't seem to have enough power to get my new external HD to mount. (It's not the HD, I just checked it out on my brother's computer). Everything other peripheral device works, including syncing my iPhone, but only on one of the ports. Do I now have to replace my USB ports? (costly?!)
    Jan

    Edit
What I meant to say was that all of my other peripherals work on the one functioning USB port except the HD. These include an iPhone, iPod, Laser mouse & thumbdrive. And when I plug in the USB Hub, it's LED lights up to indicate that it's working, but nothing plugged into the hub will work. It's like having half of a USB port...
    Advice PLEASE!

  • Planatronics Wireless Headset..

I recently purchased the Plantronics .Audio 995 wireless usb headset. It claims it works on both Windows and Macintosh. I have used Plantronics headsets in the past and they have worked fine with iChat.
This headset will not give me any audio output in iChat. The mic works in iChat. I have both chosen in the iChat preferences, however, the sound does not work.
This headset works fine using Skype, Garage Band, and Rosetta Stone, the sound works with iTunes.
The only problem I have is the sound output in iChat.
Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone have any suggestions?
I called Plantronics and they said since it works with skype, it's not the headset, it's iChat.
    Thanks

I do have wifi turned on, on my router, however, my computer is hardwired to it via cat5 ethernet cable. The wifi is only used by the iPhone. My mouse is wireless as well. Everything else is hardwired.
I tried to see what I could do with the MIDI Sound Utility.
First, I could not change the 16000.0 Hz that was the only option available and I could not change it by choosing another option or typing over it.
I also tried to create an Aggregate Device and combining the both into One Device. I got a mismatch message so the only way I could Make them match was to back the speakers off to match the mic, by changing the 44000.0 Hz to 16000.0 Hz. However, iChat would not allow me to choose the Aggregate as an option.
I did set the computer to use the wireless headset as my sound output and sound input. I set iChat to use the wireless headset as my sound output and sound input and when I received a call I heard it RING through the wireless headset, but when I answered, no sound at all.
I am wondering if it's because it's showing up as two devices if iChat is confused and only giving me the wireless mic as an option for both input and output. I just don't understand why it works everywhere else and not with iChat. As no one else seems to have this problem, maybe it's time to call AppleCare.
I did try talking with Plantronics and they say their product is working, it's a problem with iChat. They do not test with iChat and have no information, I have to go to Apple for help.
Thank you for your time and patience and suggestions. Have a lovely day.
