IPhone 4S charger melted

Hello,
Today after approx. 30 minutes of charging my iPhone 4S I heard a sound and the electricity in the apartment went dead… I looked around trying to identify the source of the problem and found the iPhone charger black and partly melted. The charger was extremely hot. Anyone who can tell my what the problem is? Is it only a bad charger or can the source of the problem be traced to something in the electric system. I get real sceptic when electric accessories start melting like this.
Anyone with the same experience?

Same thing happened to me today but luckily I managed to yank the cord out before it started a fire.  It is charred in the inside and while it works now I'm afraid the same thing will happen again.

  • IPhone 3gs charger port melted and home button is super hard

My iPhone was charging over night and in the morning I found that charger and the iPhone was melting and now it doesn't turn on and doesn't charge what do I do now?

Make an appointment at an Apple store, if still under warranty all will be replaced if determined to be a hardware failure not caused by user misuse. If you're out of warranty, Apple offers an out of warranty replacement program, the cost in the US is $199.

Do you actually mean the white cable with a lightning plug on one end and a USB on other
If so that is not the charger ,that is the cable
The charger is the device that plugs into the mains socket
    If so
cable may be faulty if less than 12 months old take it to Apple Store genius bar for checking

  • First iPhone battery charge - average time?

    Hello all!
So I know that the battery for the iPhone will charge until full and then automatically charge no more but I'm just wondering how long this generally takes? I've had it on the charger for about 3 hours now and it's still charging so an estimation in time would be much appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Cat

If you are using the wall charger and not a computer USB port it should take about 4 hours with the iPhone not in use, longer if you are using data or playing interactive games.

  • IPhone will charge but not be recognised by iTunes or iPhoto, other iPhones will though with same cable, How can i fix it?

Suddenly my iphone stopped being recognised by the Mac, ive tried other iphone which work so I know the cable and itunes work but my iphone is simply not picked up.
I dont know why although in june 2010 I got it slightly wet but it dried out and worked again about 5 days later if thats related?
I have no idea what to do and my tech specs are:
    Macbook pro 2011 late
Newest version of Lion OS X
    iTunes at newest version
    iPhone with os 5.0.1

I had the same issue, my iphone would charge when i plugged it in but the computer would not pick it up, so i read this forum and other ones as well as went through the apple approved methods of trying to fix it and did all of them, then today my iphone charge ran down because i hadn't taken the time to plug it in to charge and it died, then when i plugged it in and it got it's life back and was charging, the computer read it,
so i recommend letting the charge completely run out until your iphone dies then plug it in.

  • Can i use my iphone 5 charger for the ipad air

Can I use my iphone 5 charger for the ipad air?

It's really not recommended. The iPhone's 5w charger does not output enough current to properly charge the battery. It -may- charge but if it did, it would charge the iPad very slowly.
This would be like trying to fill a bucket of water (iPad) with a squirt gun (5w charger)
Also under iOS 7, the charging requirements are much stricter than iOS 6. You'll likey get an error message if you try.

  • Is Apple going to address the issue with the IPhone 5 charger port?

    Hi all
I have had an IPhone for about 4 years and have had my current iPhone 5 for just over a year,I never had any problems until recently. Just before Christmas I started having issues with my IPhone not charging, I bought a new charger and the problem continued so I went into the Apple store in Newcastle, they pulled some dust out of the charger port and the issue appeared to be resolved. However after Christmas it happened again, and again I went to the Apple store, they did the same thing and the phone worked fine for a month. However, this last week the problem has come back, this time when I took the phone into the store, they tried pulling dust out the port but the phone would still not charge, I was then told that as the phone is out of warranty there is nothing they can do other than charge me £209 to fix it!!
What concerns me is that after speaking to other iPhone users and doing some online research I have discovered this is a seriously common problem. So now through no fault of my own, I am left with a phone, which doesn't work and costs me £48 a month. Another concern is that I originally took the phone to the store with this problem before my warranty ran out and was given a 'temporary fix', which made the phone last untill just after my warranty has ran out!
I am angry and disappointed, this issue needs to be addressed as the Phones appear to be like a ticking time bomb waiting to break, and for those of you like me, who this happens to you after the warranty is up, you are elft with no solution other than to pay £209!!!!

Or talk to the store manager or Apple Customer Relations and explain that you brought the phone in twice before the warranthy expired for the same problem and that there was no permanent solution, though if clearing out the debris fixed it previously, it's perhaps unlikely that they'll think it a defect. You can try, though. Just complaining here will accomplish nothing since we're all fellow users in these forums.
    Regards.

If posible you will find visiting a store by far the simplest way of getting a solution
    Which Country
    are you in ?
Have you checked the lightning socket on iPhone doesn't have lint or fluff in it
    solves majority of such issues

  • Why won't my iPhone 5 charge?

My iPhone is a 5S that I bought right before iOS7 came out. Once I updated the phone, it experienced a lot of crashes. iMessage doesnn't always work, my apps shut down, etc. My biggest problem, though, has been that my phone no longer charges. It will charge for a short period of time, sometimes up to an hour, or sometimes as little as a second before saying either "This accessory is not supported", "This accessory may not be supported", or identifying my Apple charger as one not made by Apple. If the charger remains connected after this message appears, crashes occur. The other day, my phone alarm didn't go off in the morning, and my phone was saying it was 11:57 am when it was actually 2:13 pm... I have the same Apple brand charger I've always had with the lightning cable attached. It's not an issue with the cord or charger cube because this happens with every charging device I plug it into, including other iPhone lightning chargers made by Apple and not run through an adapted, my MacBook Pro, and my iHome. This is driving me crazy, and no one I talk to at the Apple store says they've seen this charging problem before, even though I know they have. Please help!

Since your phone is still under warranty, take it to an apple store and have them replace it, since you have a faulty iphone, and its not usable.
For your charging problems, please read this in order to resolve those issues:

    Hope I helped.

  • Iphone car charger once again not charging. Second one and they are not cheap from the apple store.Any else have these problems?

My Iphone car charger is not charging again. This is the second one I have bought from the Apple store and they are not cheap anyone else have problems?

I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. And they backed up my old Iphone 4, but were not able to get anything to load back onto my new phone. So, I lost pretty much everything. But over time, some of my contacts have started showing up, although i am still missing over 800 of them.

From my experiences with the same problem, I can tell you that it seems to only happen when the transformer is running on a modified sine-wave.
What do you mean by that?  A "dirty" source of power where there are a lot of transients on the AC line?

    Resetting the Logic Board
Resetting the logic board can resolve many system problems. Whenever you have a
unit that fails to power up, you should follow this procedure
    before replacing any modules.
    1 Unplug the computer.
2 Press the Power On button on the front of the unit.
3 Open the side access panel.
4 Remove the battery from the logic board.
5 Wait at least 10 minutes before replacing the battery.
6 Make sure the battery is installed in the correct +/-
    direction.
7 Reassemble the computer and test the unit.

  • My iphone wont charge can the charging port be repaired or replaced

my iphone wont charge can the charging port be replaced or repaired

Apple does not repair devices at all.
As stated, you can elect to find a local repair shop to do the work, but understand that Apple does not sell parts either.
Alternatively, you can choose to do an Out of Warranty replacement via Apple and get a 90 day warranty on the replacement device.
Another option would be to replace the device with a more current model.
