IPhone 4s charges and then stops in quick succession... Help?

I really need help with this, it is causing me LOTS of problems. Basically I've got a refurbished Iphone 4s and it has worked fine, I have had it about a month and found no problems with it. I can charge it in my laptop (MacBook Air) and in the wall just fine. But, my Macbook is running out of space and so I wanted to charge it in our IMac. It was released late 2013 (Specs at the end) and is extremely powerful and fast, and I have had no issues until now. I plugged in my Iphone 4s via USB cable to sync/backup my phone. It then started to charge for about a second and then stopped and started and stopped and started again and again, and it didn't even begin to try and sync, it opened IPhoto and ITunes as usual. But nothing else went right, Itunes started telling me that the device was no longer connected, Iphoto was glitching (because the phone kept 'disconnecting') and the phone wasn't actually gaining any battery life. This is a big problem and I have already contacted apple 3 times and they told me to reset PRAM on the IMac, and to reset my System Management Controller on the IMac. And none of it worked. I tried with multiple USB connectors, same results. I tried with different devices, same results. So I have concluded it must be the IMac, but I've looked everywhere and found no results.
Please Help,
An Apple Customer in BIG trouble.
IMAC: Released late 2013, running OS X Yosemite version 10.10.1, 27-Inch, 3.2 GHz, Intel Core I5, 8GB ram, 1600 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M 1024 MB.
IPhone 4s: IOS 8.1.2, 16 GB

With a good light and a magnifier examine the charging port. Check for pocket lint or other bits of debris. Also, look to see if there is any green or whitish corrosion. If the port looks good, try another cable.

    iPhone User Guide
    Try this...
Turn the Phone Off... ( if it isn’t already )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    Turn the Phone On...

  • HT4060 Why is my IPad only charging to 1% and then stopping?

    Hey everyone,
I have had my IPad for about 8 months and only recently it has started charging to 1% and then stopping. Only allowing me to use it for about a minute. Is this happening to anyone else? Why is this happening? What should I do?
    <Email Edited By Host>

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
And this - Unplug the charger from the iPad and then replug. May resume charging.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

At night, as soon as I plug my iphone to be recharged, my iphone starts behaving anomaly.  It is like somebody has taken control of it.  I see the screens moving, music starts playing and then stopping, etc.  I have noticed that several nights.  What I do is in Settings is to change  into Plane Mode, thinking that, may be if I do that, somebody that has taking control of it will not be able to download data.  Yesterday night, I was awakened by an alarm, whose setting I did not changed. When I looked over, the alarm screen changed to Settings and the Plane Mode changed alone in front of my eyes, from on to off.
I have not observed such a situation during the day. Only when I plug the cable.
I suspected that may be there is no Trojan installed. May be the cable, which is a spare cable, has been modified by a hacker, and it has electronics installed in the connector.  But tested with the original cable, and the behavior was the same, as described above.

    Thanks Meg for your reply.
It could be that both cable are bad. But, anyway, you would not expect any of these manifestations, even with a bad cable. I had bad cable for my 4s, and never saw such a thing!
I contacted by chat the support of Apple.  They told me that this behavior could be a software problem and recommended me to do a full recover of my iphone. That meant, putting in at the factory conditions and recup all the data from the backup.  I did that, and the behavior did not change.  The backup was made with the data of my PC, not icloud.  Tomorrow will try with icloud and check if that will work.

Now it's Wednesday (2 days since I originally posted) & my iPhone appears to have finally restored all my apps, but it still says it's restoring from iCloud backup.  If all my apps are restored, what else could it be restoring?  IS it actually restoring anything at this point, or is it still in 'glitch' mode???  I've tried turning it off & back on & it continues to say that it's restoring.

  • HT1476 My phone will charge to 5% and then stops, does anybody else have this problem?

I noticed this problem when I plugged my phone in to top it's charge. It wouldnt charge and after the battery went flat it started to charge, turned on at 5% and then stopped and started to loose battery life and turned off and the cycle just carries on. Help?!

Try a reset. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider.

  • I listen to a lot of live performances (house sets that are from 1 hour to 3 hours long) when I start to listen to a set and then stop to do something else on the iPhone when I go back to start to listen to the track it has started from the beginning.

It sounds like either your hard drive or the SATA cable that connects it to the motherboard are failing. This could be heat related in your case, which is why you see it after it runs awhile. You can take it to the Genius Bar for a free evaluation. If you decide to test it yourself, I usually suggest moving the hard drive to an external enclosure. If it works there for awhile, the cable is probably the issue.

I am having trouble importing photos onto my Mac book Pro from my Iphone...in the middle of the import I get a message stating that they are having trouble with one of my photos and then stops importing...want to save photos and clear the phone storage

    Hello cindysc
Try importing the photos using Image Capture and see if that changes things. If it still gets stuck, try and email the photo to your self and download it that way.

  • Is there a reason that I can't download the latest update for my iPhone 4? It downloads halfway and then stops.

Is there a reason that I can't download the latest update for my iPhone 4? It downloads halfway and then stops.

Have you ever jailbroken your iPhone with tether? Because if you have the jailbreak keeps a file on your phone making it so you can't update. To solve this problem your going to have to reset your phone.

  • I have an iPhone 4S and a 2012 Honda CRV . The streaming BT music is fine but now suddenly it stopped displaying song info on the screen. It worked for about 10 days and then stopped. Any thoughts?

I think that we all know the answer to this one.
Unfortunatley the device is concidered damaged by water. Apple can do an out of warranty repair which would cost $199. Generally they would just replace the device in this case for the $199.
The alternative is to Purchase a new device.

    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I know my icloud has record of my installing this app before, but that was the first install that was failed during that time some other apps also keeps loading without respond whey they updated itself, and this app didn't install before I restart the device. But I don't see this app on my device after I restarted the device so it should have been installed on my device. It seems icloud has created some kind of dead loop that makes it not able to get the correct status about this app on my device.
I have no problem install this app on my other device (iPad) with the same account, but just fail on my iPhone. And it just fine installing other apps...... What happened !!?? @@
