Iphone 4s charges but doesnt appear in itunes or on windows xp

My iphone 4s & my old 3gs both charge when plugged into my laptop but neither one of then appear in windows xp or itunes.
I also have the latest version of itunes but still no luck, i had a problem a while back where i had to restart my itunes driver (i think) but cant remember how i did it, pls help?

You need to reinstall iTunes, or repair it.
Go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program. Search for iTunes in that list and right click it, then choose Repair.
After the repair is finished reboot your computer. If that doesn't work, uninstall it and reinstall it.
Also, they both should however appear in 'My Computer' as digital cameras.
if they don't try reinstalling your USB port drivers from your motherboard CD or motherboard manufacturer website.

Iphone 5 charging but not syncing with Itunes

Have searched thru the posts and have done practically everything I could find and suggusted (inlcuding upgrading, a full reinstall of itunes and a simple reset of iphone (vs a restore which I cannot do as phone doesnt show in devices) . .but still no go . .
This is also happening with my wife's iphone 5 so this is not personal to my phone.

Let the battery fully darain. After charging for an least an hour try a reset and restore. Use Recovery mode if necessary.
If not successful, then time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Are you sure this is a real iPhone 4? People in my area are trying to pass off knock off versions of the iPhone, as the real thing.
If its the real thing, then Reset your iPhone, then try again.

I recently purchased an in-app purchase, and it didnt appear in the application. The application is Soccer Superstars 2012. When i tried purchasing it again, it says "You have bought this purchase but it has not been downloaded yet. Press Ok to download it" So i pressed Ok and yet it still doesnt appear in the application. Please help me. It is still billed to me but doesnt appear in the application. You need to be using a Mac OS X version at least as new as the one given in the device's original system requirements.

Wi-Fi Connection
If you are experiencing intermittent playback or significant network lag with AirPlay, it could be due to a weak Wi-Fi connection, interference, or the distance between the Wi-Fi router and your AirPlay-enabled device.
Ensure that other devices aren't trying to stream to the same Apple TV at the same time.
Ensure that your Wi-Fi router is set up with the recommended settings for the best performance.
Certain external devices, such as microwave ovens and baby monitors, may interfere with a Wi-Fi network. Try moving or disabling these devices.
If your wireless and wired networks are the same, try connecting your Apple TV to the router via Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi.

In iTunes, open Edt >> Preferences >> Devices, and unmark the option that say devices can't automatically sync with iTunes. Then your device probably will appear in a couple of minutes.

I had the same issue, my iphone would charge when i plugged it in but the computer would not pick it up, so i read this forum and other ones as well as went through the apple approved methods of trying to fix it and did all of them, then today my iphone charge ran down because i hadn't taken the time to plug it in to charge and it died, then when i plugged it in and it got it's life back and was charging, the computer read it,
so i recommend letting the charge completely run out until your iphone dies then plug it in.

When i plug it into the computer its doesn't charge or appear in ITunes and 'my computer'. However when i plug it into the mains it charges!
Any idea what's happening the my iPod?! Any help to save my precious iPod would be very helpful!

If the cable works from a wall charger, then I'd try a different USB port, verify your USB ports support USB 2.0 (may be a setting in BIOS), or try a different computer...
For the last test, if the computer has iTunes installed, DO NOT SYNCH your iPod!!!
