IPhone 4S connects fine with another carrier, but not mine?

Hi, I'm from Denmark. I'll try to make this short. Recently I had big problems and thought I had this 'No Service' issue, somewhat I do and somewhat I do not. I used my girlfriends SIM today to see if that worked in my phone, and it worked perfectly! She also use the same carrier as the last owner did (I bought a used iphone 4s) but the phone is supposed to be unlocked, because I called that carrier and gave up my IMEI and they said it was unlocked.
With my carrier, it'll get the signal if I re-pop the SIM, but eventually it'll drop. I can manage just to send a few messages in case I want to before the signal drops (lasts about a minute) but I can't make calls or receive them at all! But then again, everything works fine with my girlfriends SIM.. calls, messages, 3G (oh yeah, can't connect to 3G either with my SIM)... what could possibly cause this issue?

That or the problem is your SIM... have you tried getting a new Micro-SIM from your carrier? It could also be a matter of lousy coverage from your carrier as well.

Had this problem for quite a while but found a work-a-round. I click anywhere in the text I want to delete and insert any character. I am then able to block and delete any text I want to. It's been working great.

I have Apple ID but I have never registered my Apple products on this web site. One of them Iphone 4S has been stolen and I wanted to inform the administration and users about it. I was trying to register it under my ID and found out that it has been registered under another apple ID.
I have papers from the French Police about the stolen Iphone, I have Iphone's box with serial number and if it's important I can request the check.
How can I find out information about the Apple ID who registered my stolen Iphone?
P.S. My very expensive bag was stolen where were the Iphone and a lot of documents and very important things.

My iphone will connect to itunes via wifi but not throught the cable

A month ago i noticed that when i plugged my phone into the computer it made the little dings but it wasnt charging. i looked at itunes and it wasnt on there either. i went through and updated my phone with my computer so it would recognize it again, hoping that it would fix all problems. Instead it just fixed the charging. Id plug it in and it would charge but not sync to itunes.
Prior to it not working, i had set it up to where it could sync through wifi. That is the only way i can sync my phone. I've Uninstalled itunes and the reinstalled it and it didn't make a difference. does ANYBODY have any clue as to what to do? I have Windows 8.1 and an iPhone 5s.

If your device is not recognized by iTunes, I would recommend the steps in the article below. Start with the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 > Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver. Be sure to test connecting the device to the computer with another sync cable if available.

Streaming fine with G router but not with N

I've recently purchased a N-router Linksys E2000 to replace my existing G-router Linksys WRT54GL in hope to have the best wireless connection for my Boxee Box. I found out that my Boxee Box have some buffering issue (each 10-20 seconds) when streaming 720p or 1080p .mkv files by wireless with my E2000. I decided to put back my good old WRT54GL and....surprise !! No buffering....even with my 1080p mkv files...!! I've also make a test to transfer a tv show in 720p (mkv) by wireless into the HDD connected on the Boxee....I have an average speed of 1.70 MB/sec with the WRT54GL and not even 400k/sec with the E2000....what's wrong with it ?
Both of the 2 routers have the last genuine firmware. The E2000 is set to mixed mode, auto channel and WPA2 Personal (AES). The WRT54GL is set to G-only, channel 6 and WPA2 Personal (AES). Is there something I must check out on my E2000 wireless settings ?

Change the channel on E2000 to 6 or 11. Save the settings.
Also try to change some advanced wireless settings on the router. Click on Wireless tab and go to Advanced wireless settings. Change the Beacon interval to 75, RTS threshold to 2307 and fragmentation threshold to 2306. Save the settings.
Go to setup tab and change the MTU size to 1365. Save the settings and power cycle the router. See if that helps you.

Connection issues with one computer - but not any other computer or iphone

I have a strange problem…. well, really it is my friends/co-workers problem, but I am his sponsor so I feel I need to be there for him.
We are both school teachers - and to help us in the eduction of our students we have created a wireless network (hidden so we don’t get caught!) that we can use in our area of the building. We have had it for several years and we have both hooked up to it regularly using our laptops and our ipod touch/iphone. Just recently my co-workers computer stopped being able to access the internet through the airport. We checked the settings, threw out the settings and re-entered them. Turned off the airport, turned it back on - typed in the network settings, connected - but no internet. We ran disk utility and repaired disk permissions. We have even gone as far as to create a new user…. still no luck. I have shut down and restarted the airport at school, still the issue remains.
He can see the shared disk attached to the airport, he sees my itunes library, I see his - and the rest of the teachers in the school see both of ours (we are music teachers, so our libraries are rather extensive!) and are constantly listening to our shared libraries. We know he is connected to the network, he just cannot access the internet. However, when he plugs in to the network (same settings) via ethernet - there is no problem he gets right into the network.
We both have airports at home - and we both have no problems connecting at home.
There are only two things that have happened since we noticed this problem… 1) is Snow Leopard - we believe the problem started AFTER that upgrade. and 2) we just got a new iMac Lab (I am teaching a new class - Audio Engineering this year) and in the lab I put a legal Airport - but that one IS NOT connected to the school network at all - it just allows all of the iMacs to access the shared hard drive (easier than running cable). This airport (new one - two channel) sits between his office and the old airport (single channel) that we use to access the internet and school network. I don’t think this is the problem as I have turned off the “new” airport and the problem remains.
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Ask the seller or call Apple Care and give them the serial number. They may be able to tell you.

AirParrot works fine with 10.8, but not with Bootcamp Win7

I know that this is not a problem directly linked to Apple, but maybe someone uses a similar setup.
Since i have a Mid2010 iMac, i can't use the built-in AirPlay mirroring of ML and have to rely on a 3rd party product.
I my case i'm using AirParrot (1.4.3), which works fine if used in ML. Great picture in 1080p and flawless sound on my Samsung TV.
But the windows version of AirParrot (1.0.4) won't detect my ATV3, regardless of which configuration i'm trying. I'm using the identical network setup with ML and Win7 and i'm running out of options for a reason why it isn't detected. For playback i'm using VLC player on both OS.
Any ideas?

I made all my media compatible to ATV and transferred it into iTunes. Now i can play everything directly from ATV via network. Wasn't that much of an effort via batch converting for video content. My music has already been in iTunes.

Cs5 opens fine with 2 monitors but not with one? (Macintosh)

Hi, I use a macbook pro with an external apple display.
When I open a file in CS5 and the second monitor is plugged in, everything opens perfectly. The tabs are in the 2nd monitor and the image opens in that same monitor.
However, when the monitor is NOT plugged in and I try to open a file on the laptop alone, the application opens fine, the tabs open (I can see the image I am trying to open as a thumbnail in the layers palatte) BUT the image itself does not appear. If I then plug in the apple display the image appears over there on the second monitor. I cannot explain what happened to make this change and now I cannot make it work so that I can work on files without a 2 monitor being plugged in....

Welcome to the forum.
This is just a guess, and does come from a PC-user, so might not apply, but if you have a dual-monitor setup, there is a likliehood, that some parts of PS are displayed only on your second monitor. Before deactivating your second monitor, I would check that NOTHING in PS is showing on the second monitor - no dialog boxs, etc., NOTHING.
To illustrate, friend brought his new MacBook Pro over to show me how well PS worked on it. He kept getting what appeared to be program hangs, with many operations - nothing would work, and he had to kill PS, as it became unresponsive. I watched the operations, that were seemingly hanging the program, and tested on my PC laptop. He allowed as how he normally had a dual monitor setup, back in Colorado, so I just grabbed a spare monitor, and we hooked it up.Viola, each of those operations had their dialog screen showing up on the second monitor. They were working fine, but without that second monitor, they were invisible, and waiting for input, hence the program seemed to hang. He moved all of those to the main monitor, we disconnected the second monitor, and all was good again.
Not sure if things like dialog boxes would be affected, but you might want to explore creating a Custom Workspace, that ONLY shows on the main monitor, and then, when the second monitor is unplugged, just choose THAT Workspace.

My Airport works fine with my Macs but not with Windows netbook

I bought my first Apple in 1987 and have never owned a Windows computer. I bought an MSI Wind netbook (too long of a story to go into here) and I can't seem to get it to recognize my Airport network. I have three Macs, an iPad and two iPhones that have no trouble getting on the network. Using this Windows machine is like learning a foreign language. I have no idea where to begin troubleshooting. It has XP installed and is a used machine. It seems to work great in every other aspect except for this.
If anyone could point me to some step by step instructions or have any suggestions, I would appreciate it. I have a feeling it's something simple, but I am in foreign territory! Thanks.

Let's start by using Windows XP's automated network troubleshooting feature, called Network Diagnostics.
To use Network Diagnostics, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, and then click Help and Support.
2. Click the link to Use Tools to view your computer information and diagnose problems, and then click Network Diagnostics in the list on the left.
3. When you click Scan your system, Network Diagnostics gathers configuration information and performs automated troubleshooting of the network connection.
4. When the process is completed, look for any items that are marked "FAILED" in
red, expand those categories, and then view the additional details about what the testing showed.

Now we upgraded to ECC 6.0.Do I need to change anything?

No, you don't have to change anything for ECC. BTW, I wonder why VD02 is not working in the background for you?

Firstly spologies if this is old news but sometimes its easier to 're-ask' than trawl thousands of pages!.....
I have a 3-year old iPhone 4 that has developed a problem which i'm trying hard to solve;
*Phone used to dock fine with anything and everything - this was about 1 year ago.
*for no apparent reason it ceased docking with my Bose Soundock and a Logic3 accessory dock (connected to a hi-fi) at home
*symptoms were; it would charge and operate as normal whilst docked but would not play music through either (the Logic3 dock did not acknowledge it was docked). Otherwise it would sync and connect normally with iTunes, etc. and connected fine when plugged into my car.
*I reset it, restored it from back-up, updated/reinstalled iOS (this has since updated at least twice) with no other effects. Also checked and reset all settings.
*I subsequently bought a Pure Contour dock as I was able to try it in the shop and my phone worked with it, plus it has Airplay anyway. I have since, in an attempt to find a bedside DAB radio/alarm dock that works with it, found that it works fine with some devices but not others with no rhyme or reason as to which.
*2 days ago I changed out the docking port myself using a cheap replacement bought from Amazon, to see if it would cure.
* now the problem is reversed! The Bose and Logic3 docks I have, that it wouldn't work on before, it now DOES....and the Pure dock and my car, which it DID work with before now fail to connect with it!
*just to reiterate this, my wife's gen3 and gen5 iPods dock and work faultlessly with all devices mentioned....and mine had done previously.
to my knowledge it is NOT;
- a compatibility issue. The phone used to work fine on everything I had. Then it stopped. How's that?!
- a connector issue. The male connectors on all docks haven't changed.......and the female connector in my phone has changed from liking selected devices to then liking the others!! (it is female after all ;-) !)
-a software issue. iOS has been updated and the phone wiped and restored and all sorts so many times I can;t see how it can be!
could it be a problem with the data exchange between phone and device when it is docked??
or do I really need to try changing the port for an 'official' one??
or is it just broken and that's that?!

It's either a problem with the connector on your phone (dirt, lint, bent pin, corrosion) or with its connection to the motherboard inside. Cleaning the connector is a good place to start; either a dry toothbrush, air blast can or wood toothpick. Next inspect it carefully with a good magnifying glass or jeweler's loupe. If nothing turns up it is probably damage inside, which will be difficult to fix. Aren't you due for an upgrade about now? Your iPhone 4 is 3 generations out of date!
