Iphone 4s crashed after trying to update software to 5.1

Hi
I tried updating software to 5.1 on 4s phone
now cant get phone to work
asks to unlock sim then gets stuck on a page saying that it is ready to use then apple logo comes on followed by original page with slider stating to slide to configure phone
never ending loop
tried resetting phone - no change
tried to sync phone with desktop but no change
dont want to restore factory settings on the sync page because ??will I be able to retrieve backed up data somehow after resetting???
cant get hold of applecare support in australia because they are closed
cant get them to ring me in morning because phone wont work
I cant fix it from work because it is synced to desktop at home
not very impressed with apple so far

Help !!!
I tried restoring factory settings then restoring from backup
It still does the same thing
cant use it at all
Is there any way of restoring from an older backup time ???

Normally when updating while connected to your computer running iTunes the iPhone will go through the complete update process and then restart. It will vibrate when it is finished restarting.

That is not good so lets see if we can get it back up for you. Try restarting your iPhone and try the update again. If you still have issues then you may need to update your iPhone through iTunes. If you restart your iPhone and it is booting up to the plug in to iTunes graphic you will need to restore it with iTunes.

Iphone 5S crashing after 8.3 update blue screen of death

I have an iPhone 5S which is 90 days out of warranty. I updated to 8.3 and the first issue I noticed was my music app. When I play music it doesn't start off from the last song I played - I have to choose my songs again and restart my shuffled playlist. Last week out of nowhere my phone crashed but it was at 80% battery. The screen went black, then blue, then tried to reboot. It "reset" itself within a few hours. Next day I accessed the App Store and it crashed again. It has since crashed several more times using Facebook, email, turning it off...very frustrating. I brought my phone to VZW and they said it was a software issue. I then went to the Genius Bar and they said without restoring the phone and reinstalling ios, they have no way of knowing if it's software or hardware. The phone crashed as the tech was looking at my phone so he excused himself, went to the back and came back with a second opinion "it's definitely a hardware issue and since you are out of warranty, you'll have to buy a new phone for $549". WHAT?!? So wait, you JUST told me that you wouldn't know if it was a hardware issue until the phone was restored so how did you magically surmise this? Then to tell me there is NOTHING that can be done and if I wanted to restore from a backup, I wouldn't be guaranteed that all of my content would be restored to my phone OR there is a possibility my phone would be wiped clean and not restorable at all. Nice try and scare tactic. I left Apple with a phone stuck on the blue screen of death. I went back to VZW and they said its definitely not a hardware issue and even if it were, Apple is the company to seek, not them - they are just my carrier. I am so fed up with Apple. Every update and phone I've had with them has had issues. I don't know why I continue to be their customer. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it.

You could try basic trouble shooting, that's what everyone usually suggests first but it that fails to work then it is a hardware issue.
Did it start crashing after you installed or or got rid of an app? Oh and has it happened before on any other IOS?
In my opinion you should email Apple explaining the issue and they might be able to help you or tell you it plain and simple that your phone is broken

Screen stuck on Apple Logo after Trying to Update Software

My iphone screen is locked on the apple icon after trying twice ( and unsuccessfully) to download the 2.2.1 software update. Plugging the phone into a computer or power source doesn't help.

My phone crashed after trying to update it and it wont turn back on please help!

I tried to update my iPhone 4 to the new iOS 7.0.2 but my phone said it needed to restore everything so i tried to do that and now it crashed. The screen is the Itunes screen saying its connected but i held down the home button trying to get it to turn on or something but it wont. I tried to go to Computer and go to iPhone but its not there and I disconnected and plugged it back in trying to get the window where you can upload photos i tried to get that up but it wont come up. Ipod touch unable to restore after trying to update software

I tried to update to the latest software for the ipod touch 2g today. It didn't work and i got an error message. Then i tried to restore the ipod with the latest version of itunes, and it still didn't work??
What do i do?

I had the same problem, this is how I fixed it...
I had to go to a completely new computer (my work one) that didn't have iTunes on it, install iTunes 9.0, then do the restore...now it works...
I would assume that if you removed every last vestige of iTunes from your computer it would act the same way. I think you would have to delete and completely remove the iTunes files from your user folder on Windows machines (AppData or LocalData, the hidden folder with the iTunes info in it...)

Try to deactivate the FACEBOOK INTEGRATION (go to settings).. After i removed it to my iphone 4 All apps are now doing fine... No more crashing of apps :-) hope it works for you...
The problem is with facebook, go to settings / facebook / your user name and delete your account, the do a hard reset (home+power for some seconds).
dont need to delete the facebook app! just delete your integrate account from settings

Nano 3G crash after trying to upgrade software

My 3rd Gen Nano was functioning well and was identified by iTunes when I first plugged it to my relatively new iMac today. I was prompted by iTunes for software update for my 3rd Gen Nano, which I had obediently downloaded and agreed to the installation, thinking that it should be reliable since it is from Apple. However, iTunes prompted that it has lost connection with my nano immediately I click next to install the upgrade. Now my nano simply shows the Apple logo for a few seconds, goes off for a blink and Apple logo reappears. The cycle simply repeats and I can't even switch it off. Worst of all, the serial number is not recognized when I tried to email Apple for help. (I bought my nano from an authorized Apple distributor in Singapore). Can anyone help me with this problem please? Really frustrating for something working perfectly fine to be crashed by software update prompted by the manufacturer.

Put the ipod into disk mode (Apple has detailed instructions). The ipod will show up in itunes, then download and update the software. Worked for me.

Z10 crashes after trying to update OS

Hi Guys,
So after 'successfully' updating my OS to the 10.1... My phone would not connect to my network and was only available on WiFi, also the blackberry hub totally disappeared showing just a black screen when I try to access it.
I tried restoring to factory setting which was also 'successful' but the phone still won't access my network and the hub is still blank. BBM also has stopped working ! Can anyone help??

Why is iPhone 5c crashing after 7.1 update?

I updated to 7.1 this evening and since then the phone is randomly crashing. Apple logo comes up for a few seconds and then back to the home screen. Its crashed at least 5 times in the last 10 mins.
Is there a way to go back to the previous software version as my phone is unusable right now.

Thanks kb1951. I've done a restore within itunes. Its all finished (only gave me the option of 7.1) but the s/w is still crashing constantly. Is there anything else I can try?

IPod stuck after trying to update software

Hello there
This is my 2nd attempt to update my iPod software and like the first time, it seems to have left my iPod stuck on 'Do Not Disconnect', with the drive just whirring away.
The first time I tried this I thought it'd killed my iPod. It looks like it's doing the same thing again. Should I just disconnect my iPod and see if I can sort it like I did last time?
Or does the update just happen to take ages and ages?
