Iphone 4s dies at 30%

i have an iphone 4s that often dies between 30%-40% . It is a year old but it should not be dying at that high of a percentage.

Did you used ipad charger? their voltage are different....
If we were talking about an iPad and this were the iPad forum, that may apply.
But since the OP mentions an iPhone 4S, as long as A charger is charging, which one it is does not have relevance. The bigger iPad charger can put out the additional current the iPad needs, but the voltage is limited as per the USB standards. And the iPhone will only take the current it needs so it won't charge any faster.
no dude, we're talking about iphone so that may apply here.
Regardless of the amps/volts/current debate - there is hard evidence that...
"Fast Charging" of the iPhone 4S with the new iPad charger is NOT good for the battery.
see these :

If the iPhone gets hotter with the iPad charger, well my friends, then it draws more current or by some other reason produces more wattage. End of story.
And as we know, heat seriously degrades Li-Ion battery life.

My iPhone 5 dies at 20-24% it doesn't go all the way to 0%. Will apple replace my phone or fix my phone for free since its hardware problem and I have no money. This is my second iphone 5 replacement. I have no apple care so I'm worried. My phone has NEVER touched water! I only get 1/5 of battery use. I've also spent 30$ at the apple store on screen protectors for nothing! I really don't have 220$ nor 50$ I am on a strict budget. I believe I have to pay 220 not 50 ford a phone replacement for accidental damage. I don't know what category this falls under. I really need a new phone or battery. HELP! Will I have to pay? Also my screen lighting is all topsy-tervy every I put my screen on highest it won't work I have to wait about a minute? Forgot to mention that my apps exit out by themselves all the time when Im using them.

So, have you tried a reset?  Restore from backup? Restore as new?  You seem to have a few problems but do not mention any action taken to resolve them.  What have screen protectors to do with anything?

  • Iphone 4s dies randomly

My iphone 4s dies randomly even if im 100% especially if i try using an app other than messaging or if i try using the internet, if it doesn't die then it always dies around 73-80% sometimes it wont last more than 1 hour, any ideas? When it dies it wont turn back on till i charge it again or will randomly turn on for a minute then die again

Have you reset your device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen comes up, see if that helps the situation.
Also, are you running any apps from 3rd party websites that may be causing your issue? Is your device jailbroken? Are you running any sort of Anti-Virus software? All of these things will affect the performance of your device.
    Cheers,

  • IPhone 5 dies when hotspot active

My iPhone 5 dies shortly after using Hot Spot, even while plugged in and charging.  Yesterday it finaly restarted, but this morning it has yet to let me restart it.  It is off and I have no clue what to do.

I know many iPhone 5 users with the same issue.  Unfortunately I took my phone into the apple store yesterday and said I had a fautly battery and said they would charge $80 for a replacement battery.  It's kinda shocking as I know atleast 10 people with the same exact issue.  I wonder if all the iPhone5's have the same battery issue.

Reset - your iPhone - hold down Home and Power until the iPhone shuts off
Retry - Use a different USB port
Restart - your computer. And make sure you have all the latest updates (use Microsoft Update in Windows or Software Update in Mac)
Reinstall - Check for any kind of software update which make fix a bug in your iPhone
Restore - Restore the iPhone to factory settings via iTunes

  • When my iphone 3G dies, and i plug it in, it shows the apple sign but never turns on ???

help me! when my iphone 3G dies, and i plug  it in, it shows the apple sign but never turns back on !!!!!!

When the phone shows only the Apple logo it usually indicates an issue with the system software that is preventing the phone from completing the boot sequence. This can be remedied by putting the phone into DFU mode and restoring the system software. This will remove all data and software from the phone and put a fresh set of system software on the phone, so hopefully you have a recent backup.
To put your iPhone/iPod into DFU mode:
    1. Make sure the iPhone/iPod is connected to the computer
    2. Hold down the sleep/wake button and home button at the same time for 8 seconds
    3. Let go of the sleep/wake button and keep holding down the home button
    4. If you are successful, a dialog box will pop up in iTunes stating that iTunes has detected an iPod/iPhone in recovery mode. Note that a successful DFU will result in a blank black screen on your iPhone/iPod.
    5. Click OK, then click the restore button in iTunes.
After that you will be able to resync your data and be good to go.
    Hope this helps.

  • My iphone 3gs dies unexpectedly

my Iphone 3gs dies unexpectedly. It will say that it has 39% or so and just goes black and is off, sometimes it will start later, sometimes I have to plug it in and then it will start after a while. Does anyone know what is wrong?

Sounds like a hardware problem - possibly with the battery or something else.
If you live near an Apple store,  make an appointment to have this checked where a hardware dignostic can be run on your iphone to determine where the problem lies.

  • For all of us whose iPhone battery dies ridiculously fast

It's long, but please take your time to read it. Appreciate it.
Firstly, I believe it happens to a lot of us. It not only happens to me, but also a lot of my friends and my family.
Using iPhone certainly will consume its battery, and the way that consumers use iPhones and measure its battery is not the "stand by hours" but how long the battery lasts after charging it till full during our sleep or office hours. We simply only care about how many photos we can take, how long we can search things or browse things on the browser, how long we can call, how long we can use certain apps on the phone and so on so on. Of course, the most important thing is that we don't need to exchange some other essentials such as 4G LTE, brightness, background refresh, background location services, or even WiFi for those very basic functions. We, as users, totally understand certain functions may consumes more battery such as 4G LTE and background operations, but it cannot be the most prior excuse for the phone dies too fast.
Last month, I gradually cannot tolerate to see my iPhone's battery dies too soon, therefore I reserved a time slot in Genius Bar.
The response I got, was just as ridiculous as it could be. Firstly, the "Genius" told me to switch off the location services, the background refresh services, and to reduce the motion. He said, after these, your phone will be fine. It seems to be the end of the story, but it is just not. I have these already done long time before!!! Then, the "Genius" of course, did a comprehensive test for the battery and the phone. After a couple minutes, he showed me a list of app crash history, including some major apps that everyone uses and some foundation services of the system. He, of course, without seeing the apps, told me that many apps may be out of dated and developers may not update their apps on time so these apps may cause issues after time, and suggested me to delete those apps. After seeing the list, including Facebook, Weibo, WhatsApp. It is so obvious that these apps are not out of dated but so up to dated!! Ok, then he suggested me to restore the phone, of course I have tried it so many times. Then, he suggested me to use third party tools to back up some certain data and restore the phone as new. He said the bugs are in the backup. THATS IT!!!
I would not do it, the reason I keep using iPhone is because I value and appareciate the consistency and reliability of the system. I don't need to worry any lose of data when I switch to a new iPhone or upgrade the OS. And of course I don't need to trust and use other non-apple utility services to back up my data. Apple saves my time and brings me convenience, and I always purchase the largest possible capacity to store a lot of files in the phone.
I updated to iOS 8 this morning, and it took one hour to consume a quarter of battery. Now I am restoring it.
It happens to just so many of iPhone users. Hope Apple would value this issue and solve it as what Apple always does.
Thanks for reading. Hope some of you would pass it to insiders.

There is a new feature in iOS 8 that helps users track down battery hogging apps.  Settings, General, Usage, Battery Usage.  Perhaps that might help you figure out where your electrons are disappearing to.

  • My iphone 5 dies even with 100% charge.

My ipone 5 dies with even 100% charge. i have tried to reset it through the itunes as well as through pressing the home button as well. sometimes it comes back up and goes to recovery mode and runs for little while and then dies again. I have reset the ios alot of times but the problem persists. Any suggestions?

Did you get the battery checked by an Authorized Apple Service Provider or by visiting an Apple Store next to your place?

  • My iPhone 5c dies at 20%...Help

Over the last couple of days, every time my phone gets to 20% battery it dies and I am unable to switch it on again. After waiting about 5 minutes, my phone will turn on and the battery status will read 20-30%....what is causing this and what can I do to fix the issue???
    iPhone 5c iOS 8.3

Restore iPhone with iTunes and at end when prompted, Set Up as New iPhone see if battery is better. If still problems, all iPhone 4S have full Warranty, make Genius Reservation and take iPhone to Apple for resolution.

  • Just bought the iphone, battery dies within a day.anyway to get the apps not to run when i am not using them?

just bought my iphone, and the battery dies within one day.  Is there anyway to get the apps not to run when i am not using them to save my battery

Yeah. Double tap the home button and the screen will shift upwards to show all your running apps. Just press and hold one until they start 'wiggling' then press the 'no entry' like sign that appears in the top left corner of the apps. That'll close them and release the memory and resources they're taking up

  • IPhone 3Gs dies on almost full battery

So, my iPhone 3Gs is about 2 years old, and has worked without any issues, until about 3-4 months ago. The phone tends to die on very high battery life, depending on what apps I'm using, how many texts i'm receiving, if I'm listening to music as well. If I use the facebook app, it will die almost immediately, I try turning the phone back on, but it dies again before reaching the home screen, unless it is plugged into a charger. However, the battery life generally remains the same as before it dies. It may die on 99%, and when it comes back on it may be the exact same, or a little bit less, say 95%. The phone no longer has warranty either. Initially I thought it may have been a virus of some sort, through an app, so I restored the phone to factory settings, deleted all apps (just to be sure), at first I was able to text and go on facebook without it dying for about half an hour, right when I thought it was over, it died. Also, sometimes the phone will not understand when it is connected to a charger, they are the apple iPhone chargers, so I do not understand why not, It says on the screen "this product is not compatible" or something along those lines. The iPhone 3Gs has the latest software (5.1.1). It generally dies quite soon after it shows the loading symbol near the wi-fi bar at the top of the screen. If anyone can help me it would be much appreciated. I plan on getting the iPhone 5 when it becomes available, but as it has yet to be announced, I have no idea how long I will have to put up with these 3Gs issues.

Yes, I have the same problem. But I think I know whats the problem. When I charged my phone it said 100% in 10 minutes. What I think is the battery is just dead. Once its 100% then the battery meter will communicate to the phone and say no i dont want any charge. But its actually around 10%. What I suggest is that you buy a new battery. New battery=new life to the phone. Try my suggestion and see what happens. This is what I am going to do now. I hope this helps!

  • IPhone 3g DIES WHILE PLUGGED IN

I had this problem with the last two iPhones Ive had, i often talk on the phone at night for quite a few hours. I plug my phone in while im talking but the battery still runs down, and sometimes eventually dies after a few hours. Im in a 3g area, and am never on edge, not connected to wifi, and ive tried with the case off to eliminate the extra heat buildup. Any help would be awesome. Just got the newest phone three days ago, battery should be fine.

Your iPhone is plugged in to your computer or to the wall charger when doing so?
If plugged in to your computer when doing so, do you have your computer set to sleep or standby mode after a period of inactivity? If so, the following was coped from this link.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1476
Connect the device to your computer (not your keyboard) using the included cable to charge the battery and sync. Your computer must be turned on and not in sleep or standby mode. If the device is connected to a computer that's not turned on or is in sleep or standby mode, the battery may drain.
If the iPhone's internal temperature exceeds a designated temperature when being used while connected to a power source, charging will stop to protect the battery until the internal temperature is reduced.

  • My iPhone 5 dies when not plugged in.

I got a new iPhone 5 from the Apple Store a little less than a month ago. I haven't dropped it, gotten it wet, scratched it or anything since the time I recieved it, and it always has a case. My phone died unexpectantly at 80% and when I plugged it into the charger it took over an hour to turn back on, when it did, it still had 80%. I unplugged it when it got to 100% and it lasted for less than ten minutes until it died again. I plugged it back in and it took relatively thirty minutes to turn back on, when it did, it had 100%. I tried unplugging it again, this time it lasted until 86% when it died. This continued every time it charged. I tried using three different USB cables, tried plugging it into the wall, my laptop, and even a friend's portable charger, and the problem still happened. It was slowly getting worse (dying as soon as it was unplugged with 100% charge) I went to the apple store and they ran diagnostics on it, it came back with nothing wrong. Battery was fine. The man told me to go home, back up my phone, and restore it to original settings and it should be fine. He expressed to NOT RESTORE MY PHONE TO THE BACK UP. I spent roughly two hours restoring my phone, setting it up as a new phone, and downloading apps, adding email, music, books, etc. As soon as I unplugged it from restoring it, it died again. I am getting angry with the iPhone 5, as my old one died and wouldn't turn back on, and it is the only phone they will give me as a replacement. It took three hours out of my time to go to the apple store and be told something that doesn't even work and would take two hours to accomplish. I am currently using my laptop for iMessages and when in need of my phone having to be with a charger and and be around an outlet at all times. Is this problem fixable without having to go back to the Apple Store or taking apart my phone? My phone is not jailbroken, nor have I downloaded anything onto it besides syncing music from my iTunes Library. It is up to the latest software update.
It may not be relevant but the service bar will always say 'searching' even though I have service and can send messages.

Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as NEW device.  If those don't solve your problems, you'll need to go to Apple for evaluation.

  • My iphone 5 dies at 50% battery, and our 4 chargers have all stopped charging within the same week.  anybody know what could be the issue?  its like our apples are having a major meltdown! help!

Help!  My iPhone 5 has recently started to "die" at about 20 or 30% battery depending on where I am or how cold it is (i.e.it doesnt seem to die as fast with Wifi in my apartment but will drain so quickly and die at 40% battery life when i am at work.  So today, my battery died at 56% YES 56%!!! GRRRRR.  I have tried everything online articles tell you to do in order to conserve battery life.  Also, our chargers have all gone caput this past week.  I believe it is the adaptor as when the cord plugs into the computer it will charge.  WT?  All our apple products have gone berzurk this last week and I beg for an answer!!  The phone is over one year old, along with one charger.  But the other TWO chargers were purchased recently and they all stopped this week.  Any guidance or help with fixing this the most cost effective way would be much appreciated!

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
Everything that cames in the box is included in the 1year warranty, unfortunately you're just outside of that warranty.  Regardless, if the above troubleshooting does not resolve, take the device to Apple and they can determine if the issue is the device, the charger(s) or something else.
