IPhone 4S draining battery faster than it's charging

So, I, like others, have had issues with my iPhone ever since upgrading to iPhone 6.1. I went to an Apple store, and because the connector dock was acting strange they said it might be a hardware issue. My phone basically bricked after that, and was dead for 2 days, but for some reason I kept it plugged in, and out of nowhere I had enough charge to restore it (via iTunes, using the restore method rather than a simple restore). After that it charged to 100%, just like normal.  I went back to the Apple store, they tested the battery and said it was running perfectly. I asked if I can start putting apps and stuff back on, they said yes, I did, and now it doesn't charge past 70%. I restored it once again, and now it won't charge past 65%.
Can I blame this on 6.1, 6.1.1, and 6.1.2? or is there something I should do that might fix this? I've used multiple cords and chargers.

Hi guys,
Click «about this mac», in the apple menu, and then click «more info». This will open the system profiler window where you can see in more details the actual state of the battery, if you highlight it in the left column (probably under «power», I don't know because my system's in french, sorry). My remaining capacity at full charge is around 4900 mah (it was at 5200 when I first got the Macbook), and I'd say I get about 4,5 hours if I'm very careful. If your numbers are way under this (providing the number of charge cycles is reasonable), my guess is you have a bad battery. Good news is you're covered by AppleCare.
See this thread for great insight into battery life, etc: (see the post by macbook7)

Your using more energy to play WOW and there isn't any to charge the battery.
You do have a overly unnecessary, power hungry, excessively  high resolution screen with a bloated OS X version and your also playing 3D games on it, that's what you should expect to occur.

  • Does the 15" 2014 GT 750M model drain battery faster than the iris pro version?

I can't decide between the 750M model or the iris pro model. I've heard the GT 750M is not worth the additional price
as it drains the battery much quicker, is this true?

The 15-inch MacBook Pro with the NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M also comes with an Intel GPU, which is the same GPU as the model without the NVIDIA GPU.
This means that the battery life will be the same in both models with tasks that do not require higher GPU performance (home tasks). The NVIDIA GPU is enabled when you need more performance, so you do not need to worry about that. However, as the NVIDIA GPU is more powerful, it needs more power, reducing the battery life when it is being used

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Then see if placing the iPod in airplane mode when in standby helps.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    -  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • After Updating the iOS 7.04 on my iPhone 4s drain battery quickly on standby mode & also doesn't respond volume up button, why?

After Updating the iOS 7.04 on my iPhone 4S drain battery quickly even on standby mode & also doesn't respond volume up button, why?

My battery problem woes continues to persist.  Yesterday, I had about 85-90% battery life in the morning.  A couple hours later when I looked at the phone it was down to 65%.  At that point, I shut off wi-fi, bluetooth, and background app refresh.  I received one call shortly after that.  The call lasted about two minutes.  My battery was now down to 40%.  Another hour later, down to 16%!  Here's the kicker:  I plugged in the phone to a charger and it jumped to 65% in a matter of minutes.  I unplugged the phone and within a couple of hours it was back down to around 30%.  I plugged it in again and within 10 minutes it was up to 75%.
At first glance it looks very much like a hardware issue.  However, I never had this problem until I upgraded to 7.0.4.  Also, the above battery roller coaster ride isn't a constant.  That is, it seems that only sometimes this happens.  So...I'm thinking it's either an app running in the background eating up juice (though I have Background App Referesh turned off) or the iOS is buggy.

  • Which consumes iPhone 5's battery faster? Using text tone or not but using the flash led notication alert?

Which consumes iPhone 5's battery faster? Using:
    1. text tone
    2. no text tone but using the flash led notication alert
    Please reply.

Sounds to me that there is a process stuck and that is what is causing your battery issues. You say that you have restored to factory settings twice in the last 6 weeks. Were those restores from a backup, or a restore as new? If you restored to a backup and the issues are still there, then there is something wrong in your backup. Try restoring the device as new and not add anything to it right away and see if that improves the battery life.
I have a 5S with a push account for work and am dealing with email constantly during the day. I use my phone for upwards of 16-18 hours of the day, including web browsing, iMessages and phone calls. My battery is usually around 65-70 percent at the end of the day, which is only about 2-3% per hour of usage.
The echo deal is a carrier issue, and can depend on towers. I've seen it in the past, but it generally doesn't last long and corrects itself. The voicemail password might require you to contact AT&T to get them to reset your password. If you updated the software on the phone, it can sometimes require that reset. Are you still receiving your voicemail?
The Yahoo thing is Yahoo. I'm certainly glad I don't use if for all the stuff I've read.

  • Ios 7 battery drain - using faster than charging now

Anyone else have issues getting a full charge on iPhone 4S after updating to ios 7.0?
It's draining noticable faster - battery drains faster than it charges now so that unless you turn off the screen you end up with less charge than when you docked it. Same goes for regular 30 pin cable to 1Amp wall charger without the dock.
I left mine over night on the iPhone dock and it still only reached 92%
Never had issues on ios 6.
Even with the screen dimmed back to 50% (like I had it set for ios 6),
Battery was at 45% before updated yesterday and even though it was docked and charging during update was at 36% after the update, and kept dropping the longer I had it connected.
Does anyone know for sure if ios 7 is using the A5 cpu differently? maybe running it faster or using more power than on ios 6?
Rebooted my iPhone 4S a few times after updating, nosame issue. Was able to use Safari but unable to download from itunes or app store. They asked or my password, but it said "could not connect to app store, please try again". perhaps due to so many users updating yesterday
Then after opening a few apps (ebay, amazon) battery meter jumped to 100%
I do have DND enabled for notice center. update retained that preference and my screen lock code.
I noticed that even though screen lock timeout was set for 2 mins, it was prompting for code immediately. Had to change to 5 mins, since the 2 minute to lock option has been removed in ios 7.
    Thanks,
    JJ

  • Heating Up & Draining battery fast on iPhone 5s after iOS 7.1 update

    Hi,
I updated my iPhone 5s 64GB to iOS 7.1 & it's heating up and draining battery so fast not to mention when I charge it , it takes longer time to charge!
I didn't have this issue before on the previous version. I tried restoring my iPhone two times & also rebooting my iPhone five times, but nothing works!
I've looked in other complaints and some of them suggested to switch off background app refresh and locations!
I didn't have this issue before and I won't turn them off because if the problem because of it then I should experience the same problem on the previous version and why would I turn it off? So what's the purpose of the phone?
My wife, my sister, my brother & my mom they got an iPhone 5 and they don't experience this problem except me!
My iPad Air and my wife iPad Mini 2( Retina Display) and there is no problem with the iOS 7.1 .
I've looked in other websites and found that there are other people experiencing the same problem. Apple should fix this problem ASAP!
Is there anyone experiencing the same problem and what did he/she do to fix it incase he/she fixed it !

I don't have any issues with my 5S on 7.1
Have you actually taken your phone to the Apple store and have them look at it?
Even if you don't want to turn off background app refresh,  you should turn it off and see what the results are.
also you said you restored twice, did you restore as NEW?

  • Fake cord drains battery faster

    Hey everyone.
I have an iPhone 5 and my cable was broken. While waiting to get a new one from Apple, I bought a fake cord since obviously my old cord was not useable. Once I started using the fake cord, I noticed that my battery would drain faster than itt used to. An example would be that if I left it at around 75% at night, I would wake up with my battery at 15% . I've tried turning the wifi off before going to bed, but it's still the same. I was wondering if this is a battery issue or if it's a problem with the fake cord? This all started when I was using a fake cord. Thanks!

Stop using the fake cord and see if the problem goes away. If it does, the problem is the cord. If it doesn't, the problem may be with the battery. Or, it may be that the fake charger damaged something. If the problem continues, make an appointment to have the phone looked at.

  • Yoga 2 Pro Draining Battery Fast in Sleep Mode

I have a new Yoga 2 Pro with i7 processor. It works great and normal battery life is about 4-5 hours. But with a fully charged battery, i can close the lid at night triggering sleep mode, and wake up to an almost dead battery.
Why is this happening? It's really dissapointing and I'm going to return it if I can't find a fix. I'm on the latest BIOS with all current updates. I am not using Hibernate mode.
Closing the lid shoud not cause battery to continue to drain at normal usage rates.
I'm hoping it's the WINDOWS 8 software but I've tried all the settings I can find.

the OP said battery was draining overnight because y2p was not going into sleep mode. then op changed some settings and, as i understand it, now his y2p does not drain battery overnight because he pushes power button and it goes into hibernate mode before closing lid.
I would like to raise the issue of the difference between hibernate and sleep mode. I too find that if i put my y2p (and my mbp-bootcamp) into hibernate mode then my battery does not drain overnight. however, both my laptops drain the battery overnight in sleep mode... anyone have clear understanding of this? i've look at many articles on the web, but haven't found any that specifically indicate how fast sleep mode should drain batteries. I think my gf's mba-OSx also drains overnight in sleep mode and OSx doesn't even have a hibernate option (correct me if i'm wrong)...

  • HT201412 Battery drain - iPhone is draining power fast

My iphone 5 is losing power fast - battery is draining. Haven't experienced this before. I've followed some basic steps to try and conserve powers within the settings features, but still drains fast. Concerned the battery may need to be replaced. Anyone else have this option - have any recommendations or trouble-shooting?
    thanks

    Hi Folks,
iPhone & iPad2 battery drain issue SOLVED!!!!!
I had a serious battery drain problem on THREE devices using different iOS .... it was a simple fix and had certain characteristics that you may be able to relate to ......
    Devices;     16GB iPhone 4 with IOS6
                      16GB iPhone 4S with iOS7.06
                      32G iPad2 with iOS7.04
On or about Feb. 28th all three devices started to drain the battery like crazy losing about 20%/hour on the iPhones and 10%/hour on the iPad2 .... After messing around with settings, browsing forums and looking at what was common between the three devices I concluded the problem was with a single Microsoft Outlook/Live/Hotmail email account in the iOS native mail app .... I deleted the email account on all three devices (along with other unrelated Microsoft accounts on each device) and did a hard reboot (hold HOME and top LOCK button simultaniously for about 10 seconds until the apple logo appeared).
I then re-created the common Microsoft Outlook/Live/Hotmail account on all three devices in the iOS native mail app ...... SUCCESS! Now all three devices are behaving normaly with respect to battery drain ......
Hopefully this will be useful to others in this thread ..........

  • After updating to iOs 6.0.2 my iPad mini battery seems to drain much faster than before :(

I updated my iPad mini to iOs 6.0.2 a couple of weeks back and I am suffering from battery drain issues.
Although apple mentioned there, it is supposed to fix wifi issues, I never had any issue with wifi.
But a black line was appearing when playing youtube videos in safari or chrome, which is fixed in this update.
But my battery life of the iPad mini is considerably decreased.
Is apple going to provide another update, which ll fix the battery drain issue?

I am having the same issue. Hopefully they will have a fix soon.

  • If I have a large photo as my lock screen and home screen will it drain the battery faster than if it were a smaller image?

If I have a high resolution / large sized image set as my lockscreen / homescreen will that effect the battery life of my iPhone 4S?

I do not believe so. Either way, the display of your iPhone is just showing a picture as a wallpaper, if you had no wallpaper or just a black or white one, your phone would still be displaying something (the pixels are still on). Your pixels don't know what they are displaying, so your phone is still using the same amount of battery. Hope this helps!

  • IOS 6.1.2 for iPhone 4s draining battery?

I downloaded iOS 6.1.2 for my iPhone 4s a few days ago when my phone told me it was time to update. Now all I get is 17 minutes of usage and 6 hours of standby when I used to get at least 18 hours of standby and 6 hours of usage before my phone needed a charge. This is very frustrating. My phone is 8 months old. I don't use mail on it. I've seen some people have problems with mail being the reason why their battery drains. I lock my phone when I'm done using it, I have the brightness down, I go through and delete background activity every couple days. This shouldn't be happening. Does anyone else have this problem and has anything fixed it?

  • Why does iOS5 drains battery more than iOS4?

Upgraded to iOS 5 a few weeks ago and iCloud about a week ago.  Something is draining my battery.  I charge it each and every night (goes on charger at 10pm or earlier).  At 5:30 I'm up and disconnect before leaving home around 7:15am.  Prior to iOS 5, when iOS 4 was on the phone, I could get a couple of days use if need be (not off completely, but screen off).
Today same routine, but the battery indicator was in the red at 4 pm.  Before iOS 4 without iCloud, no problem; but now it'll need a charge part way through the day. Is it iCloud and/or iOS 5?  What is going on?
If iOS 5 is the culprit, can we reinstall iOS 4?  If not, then iCloud needs to be removed.
    Any help would certainly appreciated.

I have this habit of closing opened applications immeditaely because our internet provider in the Philippines is not really great. So id there are too many applications opened, it tends to slow down everything. So i have also addressed that issue about multiple applications running.
Yesterday for example, it was fully charged at 12:00 noon. I started using my ipad while i was in a nail salon. I only opened my readers digest e- magazine to read. I noticed after an hour of reading it, i noticed that battery was only 27%  left and ipad became very warm.
I noticed that everytime i use my ipad, when it gets warm, the battery gets depleted very fast.
