  • When I merged my iPhone and iPad contact info., I lost all of the names that my messages were posted under.  All conversations are now posted under phone numbers.

When setting up some iCloud info., agreed to merge iPhone and iPad contact info., and now most of my iPhone messages are listed by phone numbers, rather than by the person's name.  Some of the names eventually showed up, but not many, and most of those now have the husband and wife's name together or just the family name (Millers, Smiths, etc.).

No, your iPhone and your iPad should not appear in the finder.
I'm not sure what you mean about downloading photos with iPhoto being double handling, but you can download direct to a folder with Image Capture. Image Capture can also be used to delete photos from the Camera Roll on the iPhone or iPad (preferrably after they are downloaded).
You can remove the photos you synced from your phone with iTunes by syncing again with an empty folder, That will delete all the photos that were previously synced that way, replacing them with the contents of the empty folder (that is, nothing). This will not effect photos takes with the camera on your iPhone.

  • HT1692 Iphone 4 Erasing Contacts

I have an iphone 4 and my contacts have been erased multiple times today. Every time I turn my phone off and back on, my contacts are erased. I tried sync to recover them, but it just gets erased again whenever I turn my phone off and back on. How can I recover my contacts or stop my phone from erasing them everytime it has to be turned off and back on?

My wife was having this problem and I struggled with it, synching over and over and not seeing the new address book entry on her iPhone 4 running i OS 5.
    Then I tried this:
Press the Groups arrow on the upper left of the screen that shows your contacts. Make sure the group you are viewing is All from My Mac (which should be the top-most group). You should see that your contact is indeed synched.
For some reason her phone had defaulted to displaying the iCloud group, but since our computer is not upgraded to Lion iCloud is not active. The iTunes synch should still work fine though.
Hope it works for you too!

  • How can I rebuild the erased contact info on my macbook?

I tryed to erase duplicates on my macbook air and keept only the contacts of Icloud: now I want to rebuild an contact database IN my macbook air. how can I copy the contacts from the Icloud to the macbook air? it seams, that I loose the place in the macbook where to copy all the contacts?! Thanks for help!!

    HI,
As far as I can tell you cannot delete the ID when Only one is listed.
This would suggest that you have to add the second (Correct) one and then delete the first (wrong) one.
I can't say I have tried this yet.

  • Samsung Note 3 erasing contact info for random contacts - not all contacts.

My Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has begun dropping contacts from my phone list.  I will receive a text from a phone number and realize it is someone who was in my Favorite List and is now removed from contact list completely. Today three people that I call, message or email frequently were simply gone from my phone.   This happens intermittently and is random.    I believe it started after last update when other problems emerged. To stop phone from overheating I had to remove the cover.  I also had to remove my 32 Gb data storage card in order to get phone working properly.   Has anyone else had random contacts erased?   I've read about cases where all contacts were removed but my problem is different.   Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me solve this problem.

brianna8500, sorry to hear about your trouble with the Note 3. Is the phone still over-heating? We want to make sure that doesn't become a bigger problem for you. Please advise.
There can be several possible causes to contacts disappearing. The simplest possible solution is to go to contacts and press the menu button. Select contacts to display and select all. Do the contacts return?
The second most likely cause is the software source backing up the information.  What software do you use to back up your contacts? Do you back up with more than one application. This may lead us to the best answer for you.

Is this fixable or am I sol? I have lost some very important contact information.. anyone?

There are quite a few instances of this happening with ios 5.1. If you are using this version you shoud update! To get the contacts back you could try logging into icloud.com and see if the contacts were saved there.

  • Looking for Executive Contact info

I've seen it on this site before, but good luck trying to search Verizon for contact information for their top executives!  You can have their speeches emailed to you, but I  can't find how I can email MY speech to them!  Can anyone help me here?  I am a very DISSATISFIED customer and I want my voice heard by someone other than the lowly customer service reps who caused my frustration to begin with.

I work in TV news as a reporter...and Im frequently trying to find contact info on people. Many corporations have begun to deliverately hide contact info of ANY kind nowadays. In my opinion, any publicly held corporation should be required to openly post contact info for its corp officers. Yeah like THATS gonna happen with a corporately purchased congress!

  • My contact info keeps changing between my iPhone and iPad on its on.

For some reason my contact info changes on its own between my iPhone and iPad.  I can add a new photo and contact info and then
For some reason I look the next day and the pictures gone and contact info isn't there?

well the way icloud works besides the back up part of it is if you add a contact on your phone it will go to any other device that has the same apple id on it, Why the info is change im not sure about that but you can try turning off icloud and see if it still happens

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • Can't erase/delete info from old iphone

    Hello,
I replaced my wife's 4S with a 5S. Now I cannot erase content and settings, presumably because the old iphone can no longer get on line, having been replaced by the new 5S. It doesn't work with wifi either.
I tried connecting the old one to itunes with the USB connection, but that didn't work either.
I'd like to trade in the old phone for another product, but I want to erase contacts etc first.
    Any advice greately appreciated.
    Jack

Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings
    Next step: Erase iPhone X2
Password required. Apple ID and password entered.
When the password is inserted, the following message appears:
"Verification Failed" "The internet connection appears to be offline."
I am presuming the new iphone 5 now has the apple ID and password I need to accomplish that. The old iphone 4S will not connect. I am also presuming that I can't have two accounts with the same apple ID and password.
Obviously, and in retrospect, the old iPhone 4 should have had its data, contacts erased before the same ID and password were put into the new iPhone 5 .... but it's too late for that!
Any further suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks for replying.

  • When I went to sync my iPhone, I accidently hit restore and it made my iPhone have all of the settings of my iPod Touch, erasing my iPhone pictures and contacts. Is there any way to get everything back?

When I went to sync my iPhone, I accidently hit restore and it made my iPhone have all of the settings of my iPod Touch, erasing my iPhone pictures and contacts. Is there any way to get everything back?

Not to doubt you, but something sounds fishy. I can see accidentally clicking Restore, but to load your Touch's information you would have had to select your Touch's backup file after restoring, which would be hard to do by accident -- unless your iPhone and Touch have the same name?
In any case, your iPhone should have its own backup file on your computer. You can click Restore again and this time select the iPhone's backup file (there should be a device name and date associated with the pop-up window at the end of the restore process). This process will erase your iPhone, reload the OS, and then when you select your backup file then all your iPhone settings, data, sync options, etc. will be re-loaded, including your media (if you auto-sync ... if you manually manage music and video on the iPhone then you'll need to re-select the items you want loaded onto it).
