IPhone 4S freeze, then power down.

I have a white iPhone 4S. I took a walk outside, and where I live its approximately 45 degrees  Fahrenhiet. The non operating tempature for an iPhone 4S is -4 degrees Fahrenheit and 113 degrees Fahrenheit. With a 5% to 95% noncondensing humidity. Anyway, so when I came into my house, and turned on my iPhone it worked, but then it froze and like 10 seconds after it powered down and wouldn't power up again. I plugged it in for about 30 minutes and kept it in a 70 degree room. I opened it up and nothing seemed wrong with it. The battery seemed okay and same with the wires and the mother board. So, now I am clueless on what happened. I'm thinking about scheduling an appointment with the Genius Bar. Help Please!

What you described does not mean that there's necessarily anything wrong. All batteries operate less efficiently at lower temperatures. If your iPhone was already on low charge, the temperature just put it "over the edge." You can try the same experiment with a full charge. If the same results, then take it to the store.
BTW, to rule out software issues, do a Reset of the phone:
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears (ignore the Slide to Power Off option that shows up first).

  • Nokia c3 freezes then shuts down

    Hey,
I've bought a new nokia c3 and I bought an 8gig memory card(Kingston) for it.Everything is working fine at first but then when it started to store up,up to 2gig of it's memory the problems starting to show up.
First: whenever I take a picture, my phone shutdown and in order for me to turn it on again, I have to take the memory card out and turn it on and put the memory card again.
Second: when I go to camera and photos my phone starts to freeze then shuts down.
Third: whenever I use the Bluetooth and send or receive a file it freeze then shuts down.
Fourth: whenever I try to delete something in the memory card my phone freeze then shuts down.
I already upgraded it, but still the same thing happens, is it because of my memory card? Please help me.

Hi I have had my c3 only for a couple of months and it keeps freezing. When it has been switched on for a little while the messages in the conversations get mixed up and the names of contacts don't match up with the messages they have sent, so I have switched it off and back on again and it turns on and is active for about 10 seconds and then freezes again and I have taken the battery and sim card out and left it out and done it again and its frozen exactly the same. Please help! Thank you

  • IPhone 4s won't power down

Recently I have noticed that my iphone will not power down.  I go to turn it off and it goes through the process of shutting itself down and then after two seconds magically turns itself back on again.  After this happening several times I have tried pretty much everything to fix it.  I have tried resetting the settings, deleting data and settings, full restore and cleaned out the charging port but all to no avail.  The problem continues.  Has anyone actually had this problem fixed?  Would be nice to be able to power my phone off, especially with filights to catch in the near future.

  • HT201401 IPhone 4S will not power down- just resets.

Last couple weeks I haven't been able to power down my iPhone.
    1) I press & hold the power button until the power off slider appears.
    2) I slide the slider to power off.
    3) iPhone displays the 'spinner' while shutting down.
    4) iPhone goes blank for 500-1000 ms.
    5) iPhone displays the white apple logo and reboots.
I first noticed this on a flight last week.

When USP charging cable is connected to both the live wall charger and iphone,
the iPhone will succesfully 'Slide to Power Off'.
When the USB cable is not connected the following:
    1. Hold down power button until "Slide to power off appears".
    2. Slide the slider.
    3. Iphone gets the spinny wheel.
    4. Screen goes dark for a second.
    5. Apple logo then appears and the iphone eventually turns back on.
    6. No Apps are installed on this 4S.
    7. Restored on iTunes several times, No change.
    8. Changed USB Cable, No change.
    9. Cleaned Connector port w/ brand new, Clean, soft tootbrush, No change.
    10. Blown clean air into the connetor, No change.

  • Many Tabs & Windows Lost during Freeze & Force Power Down

Sorry for the long post, you can stop reading at whatever point my question seems clear
Where is the data located of previous tabs and windows from a previous Safari session - during a New Safari session  - but PRIOR to slecting "Reopen All Windows from Last Session" ?
This question may be a bit confusing so I will provide the scenario that prompted this question, a few additional details, and lastly an illustration showing what I'm talking about that you can duplicate if you so choose.  :-)
I do a lot of research and use many windows and tabs on a regular basis - approximately 80.
I realize now that I should use bookmarks, but starting Safari and just clicking one click -"Reopen All Windows from Last Session"- has been faster for me than daily organizing and updating bookmarks - (lesson learned).
Yesterday in Safari I had these 80 tabs opened in several windows.  Later I quit Safari.
Today I started Safari, opened a couple new tabs, then a few minutes later my 2011 MacBook Pro froze and became unresponsive.  I had to force power down.
Note: Safari was not "quit" in the traditional sense.
Note: I did not select "Reopen All Windows from Last Session" before my computer froze.
The LastSession.plist file will contain the links for the previous session After you select "quit" in Safari.  When you start a new Safari session, then open a few new tabs, but do not select "Reopen All Windows from Last Session" the LastSession.plist will only have the newly opened tabs.  Then when you "Reopen All Windows from Last Session" the old previous tabs are opened - so where does the computer get this data from?
It's not possible for me to realistically find the tabs in my history as this work has been done over months and they would be buried in many thousand other links in my history file.
I have not rebooted my computer since the force power down and have it currently in target disk mode connected to my iMac.
If you can help with this you really will be a Master - because both the genius bar person and the engineer on the phone at apple didn't know.
Just in case my description hasn't been clear, I'll now provide an illustration you can do yourself to see what I'm talking about:
Open Safari - Go to apple.com and open about 10 tabs all from apple.com domain.... Then Quit.
Open the ~/library/safari/LastSession.plist file in TextEdit and you will see those links.
Now open Safari.  Go to any website - like tvguide.com ... open about 10 tabs all from that domain.  Do NOT quit Safari.
Open the ~/library/safari/LastSession.plist file in TextEdit and you will see those links from tvguide.com and NONE of the tabs from apple.com.
Now select "Reopen All Windows from Last Session" in the History menu of Safari and all your tabs from apple.com will show up.
Only now, After having clicked "Reopen All Windows from Last Session" will the  LastSession.plist file show the apple.com/...  tabs.
So the question is - where is that data saved (all those apple.com/... tabs) which Safari gets it from, before selecting "Reopen All Windows from Last Session" ??
By determining this hopefully I will save the months of research work I had in those tabs.
    Thank you.
Safari Version 5.1.1  OS Version 10.6.8

    Hi Linc,
I use Time Machine on my desktop Macs, both at home and the office but unfortunately Time Machine was not active on this laptop.  Yes, If I had it I would simply revert to the old LastSession.plist file created in the last quit of Safari prior to the crash.  But I don't have TM on this laptop, the LastSession.plist has thus been overwritten with the couple new tabs in the active session of Safari before it crashed, and thus the reason for my original post and question.
My hope is that someone will know where the data is grabed from (descriped in my original post) so I can save the months of research work done.
    Thank you.

  • Tething causes iPhone to freeze then crash.

Hello all, I've got a problem using tethering with my iPhone 4. The iPhone is running the most up to date software (4.2.1) and I'm connecting it to a macbook running 10.5.8. The issue is identical both while using tethering via bluetooth or USB. This is a recent problem as tethering was working fine last week, but I can't really point to anything that's changed (I'm pretty sure the error developed before I upgraded the iPhone to 4.2.1).
What essentially happens is that I connect the iPhone to the macbook (typically bluetooth but I've used USB as well), the phone indicates that Internet Tethering is active so I try to use the internet (typically basic surfing like logging into my gmail account). The internet seems to work fine for about 10 or 15 seconds, then just abruptly stops. It's at this point that the phone completely freezes and won't respond to anything other than a reboot by holding down both the lock button and the home button until it restarts.
Has anyone else run into this issue? Needless to say it's pretty frustrating; I use a fax to email service so it's impossible to download my faxes to my laptop without tethering...

I'm experiencing the same problems after upgrading my iPhone 4 to iOS 4.2.1 - running a macbook pro and the latest snow leopard.
Tethering connects both via bluetooth and USB, and works for a short period of time, but then the internet connection stops working. I then disconnect the USB or bluetooth from my mac, but the iPhone still shows the blue "tethering" bar. I can use the iPhone for other things, but if I go into settings and try disable tethering, the phone locks up and i have to hard-reset the phone. The same thing happens if I try to nicely shut down the phone - it locks up and requires a hard reset.
I'm glad to hear you could work around the problem by creating a new user account in windows 7, but is this likely to work under mac os x? I'd really not like to create a user account as I have literally years worth of documents and application settings, etc, which would be lost

I recently upgraded to Yosemite from Mavericks and now my MacBook Pro 3.1 when Iturned on takes me to my login screen (sometimes other times even before the login screen) freezes up, I can't make the mouse cursor move and keyboard does not function then it shuts down and reboots over and over again

  • IPod Touch Apps Freeze, Then Shut Down

All of a sudden, when I try to open some of my applications (like Safari and Notes), they open, then it is blank for a second like it is trying to retrieve information, but then it exits out of the application and goes back to the home screen. I have tried restarting the iPod with no luck. My mail application and some others work with no problem. What is wrong with it? Thanks for any help.

to be honest Doc, I don't think the model/generation matters here.
app crashing is a common problem. two suggested solutions:
    1. download a new app (any app) - sounds daft but people have said it works
    2. reset the ipod (hold down the home and sleep buttons until the silver apple comes up on screen

  • Iphone 4 won't power down.

When I select shutoff, I get the spinning wheel, as soon as it powers down, I immediatly see the white apple symbol and it powers right back up.  I tried a restore via Itunes. Didn't work.

Try holding both the on and off buttons(top and bottom of phone) at the same time and keep holding until the apple sign comes up then let go and wait, worth a try.

  • Ivy Bridge CPU 4 short beeps then Power down

Hi I just got a I7 3770 and when trying to get the board to post it beeps 4 times (short).
I was wondering what the beeps are telling me.
I am using a Z68 MA G45 (B3) board and back in February I asked about a compatible bios and was sent a link to a beta bios that should work.
So I took the risk to try it as I can always get another board if needed as I am building a cheap pc for a family member using the Pentium G620 that I was using till the Ivy Bridge was available.
Hoping I don't need to buy a new board as the 7 series are a little more expensive here. But the extra features will be worth in the long run.
I have asked MSI online support to confirm if the bios is ok but as they are not there till Wednesday as they had 2 days off I wont know for sure till tomorrow.
I thought I'd try anyway as I got impatient.
    Thanks for any help.
    Kevin

I put the Pentium G620 back in and it would not stay on and no beeps at all.
Then I swapped the I7 back in and still the 4 beeps.
So I took a break and decided after an hour searching the web for help I would try the Pentium one more time.
And this time it worked ok and brought up the bios message that said there was a CPU/memory change and to press a key to go into the bios to reset the info.
So as it's late here (Melbourne Australia) I left the pc alone after switching the power off and will continue tomorrow.
So tomorrow I should know if the bios I have is compatible with the Ivy Bridge and if not I will get a 7 series board.
I just have to return the cheap board I brought and will get a credit towards another board.
Pity about the bios but that's technology for you.

  • E71 Freezes at power down

Nearly every time I turn off my e71 it freezes by going to the screen saver with the screen lit up.  It stays in this state for about 5 minutes before actually powering off.  The only way to "un-freeze" it when it's in this state is to disconnect the battery.
Anyone else experiencing this now or before? Any suggestions please? Would greatly appreciate it!

I suggest you reset the E71. Dial *#7370# 12345 reformat, you'll lose all data. Make a backup first and restore without the settings.
