Iphone 4s got wet. Made a call of it worked fine. Then placed it in rice and tried to turn it off but it wouldnt. woke up to my alarm? will my phone be okay or should i wait to check it.

Please help my iphone got wet and i dont know what to do. its sitting in rice right now but idk if its broken or not becuse i mad a call off of it and i tried turning it off but it wouldnt turn off. it would turn black then the apple sign would come back on. so i just left it in the rice over night. i woke up to my alarm an it had ben going off for probably 30 min. it finally died. what do i do? should i continue o wait and let it sit in rice or should i try to use it.

Let it sit, my iPhone got water damage, and it costs $200 to get a refurbished one (4S), so that's an option. There is no harm in letting it sit in rice though.

A liquid damaged iPhone 4 can be replaced by Apple for $149.
By the way... and electrical short can be dangerous, creating a fire or explosion hazard. You can see the short that's affecting the flash... It's the short you may not see that's affecting the battery and/or charging circuitry that's the problem.
    Get it replaced.

  • HT201263 my phone just shut off and will not come back on no matter what I do. It was working fine then just went compeltely dark and is unresponsive. Help!!

My phone was working fine, then just went completely blank, and now is totally unresponsive

Plug it in to mains power for at least 15 minutes.  If it doesn't automatically come on, try a Reset... press the home and sleep/lock buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

    Hi jonnarink,
    Try this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
    In short:
    1) Make sure the iPhone is not connected to USB and, if it is on, turn it off by holding the power button and the home button together(takes about 6 seconds)
    2) Once it's completely off, hold down the home button
    3) While holding home, connect the USB cable and keep holding home until iTunes recognises the iPhone
It will force the iPhone into recovery mode, then you can connect to iTunes and restore your backup. Bear in mind that it will likely need to be updated to 5.0.1 anyway.

    Hi kingminjing,
Have you checked your Control Panel to make sure you don't have the flashlight turned on?
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and make sure the flashlight icon (bottom left-hand corner) is not white. If it is, tap on it to turn it off.
    Cheers,

  • I no longer have my iphone and need to turn imessage off

i no longer own an iphone and need to turn imessage off but i no longer have the phone at all so i cant turn it off myself

If youv'e ever called them they should have it on file. If you haven't call your carrier first and tell them that you need imessage turned off but don't have the imei number for the old iphone and ask if they still have it. Once you get it you can call apple and give them that number or have your carrier just route you straight to them.

Update:  I tried the "Toshiba Recovery Wizard" after everything else either fizzled out or hung up. After going all the way thru the recovery process (up to 100%), I finally got an error message.....it didn't work. And now, when I fire up the computer, I don't even get to that menu with the recovery options....the only thing I can boot into is the screens with the various ways to run your OS (in "safe mode", "safe mode with networking", etc).
I'm not a techie, but I'm guessing at this point, the part of my hard drive that got damaged in the fall was, at the very least, the partition with the recovery data. Couple that with the fact that this cheapo Toshiba laptop didn't even come with recovery disk (or ANY kind of disk, even basic installation software!), I'm screwed: I don't see any way to get a workable computer now without some kind of disk to boot from. So NOW my concern is more about spending the $$ for a new OS and THEN finding out the hard drive has other problems too...is broken in some other way to boot.
How to check this? As I said, I did run "chkdsk" back when I could get into the recovery menu and run the fix-it programs. It didn't note any problems. Thinking of taking this opportunity to upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista (which I never liked), but I have to know that the computer is otherwise ok....how to be sure?

  • Dropped my phone in water and did not turn it off, what do i do?

I knocked my phone of the sink and into the toilet. the water was only halfway up the screen vertically and fell upside down on the power button side. it barely touched the speakers and the charger part but when i pulled it out and dried it off, i did not turn it off because I thought it was fine - the sreen was fine and everything worked perfectly until the grey screen and the black apple logo came up and had a bunch of code at the top of the screen? i dried it out even more and tried to turn it off, and it wouldn't. then it started changes screens a lot until it came to the restart screen and i thought it was okay but now it's blacks out in an airtight bag of rice..what do I do? is there no hope now and just replace? if I have apple care, how much would it cost to replace an iphone 5?

    shusha29 wrote:
But I would also like to now if there's anything else I can do before having to get a new phone?
There is nothing more that you can do...turning the iPhone on and off does not help and can cause further damage if there is still moisture inside...moisture and electronics are not compatible.
At this point the best option is a visit to an Apple store genius bar for help.

  • Iphone 5 got wet, now apple logo keeps blinking and phone is unresponsive. When I try to restore it I get error code 21 then on another computer I get error code 2006.

My iPhone 5 got wet and I dried it out for 3 days. Now when I charge it the apple logo keeps blinking. Phone is unresponsive, so I tried to restore it but got error code 21. Tried on another computer and got error code 2006. Any suggestions, or is it impossible to get it back?

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694
    Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, 40
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.
    Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software. If the errors persist on another computer and known-good USB cable, the device may need service.
If neither of those fix it, then it's toast. it will have to be replaced.

  • My iPhone 4 got wet!

My iPhone 4 got wet couple of days ago,i tried putting it in rice,it didnt work, its giving an iTunes symbol when i connect it to the mains and then it turns off immediately after i remove it from the mains , so i think it is dead , i want to replace it but i live in lebanon and i dont have an apple store in my country , so i am going to send it to canada via dhl where my friend will receive it and send it to the apple store for replacement, is it 100% guaranteed that if i pay 200$ + tax they will replace my water damaged iPhone ?since i need to pay 100$+ for dhl to send it to canada, so it is going to cost me a lot ,and do i have to send it with its box and accesories ? or just the iPhone ? i bought the iPhone 20 days ago , i barely used it . I am so sad , please if someone can help me i would be so happy .Thanks all !

Because this question has been asked and answered over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.  Spending just a moment or two searching these forums would have served 2 purposes:
    1) you would have gotten your answer much faster
    2) you wouldn't have cluttered this forum up with repeated posts.
I see at least 4 answered links about a wet iphone just to the right of this post in the "More Like This" box.

  • Iphone 5 got wet last week.  Been in rice until today.  It turned on and worked fine, I could see a water spot in the middle but still worked fine, 3 hours in it shut off to black screen with apple logo.  Any ideas what to do?

Iphone 5 got wet last week.  Been in rice until today.  It turned on and worked fine, I could see a water spot in the middle but still worked fine, 3 hours in it shut down to the black screen with apple logo.  Screen stays up for 10 seconds ago and then goes black and then black screen with apple logo comes back.  Any ideas what to do?

At this point it's likely that the iPhone has suffered damage and you'll have to take or send it to Apple for replacement. If you have AppleCare+ coverage on the iPhone, the cost will be US $49. Otherwise the cost will be US $229.
    Regards.

  • IPhone 3GS got wet in rain and home screen appears zoomed

    Hello Everyone,
My iPhone 3GS got wet in rain and when i switch it on the home screen appears zoomed. Can anyone help me out to fix this issue. Is this issue can really be fixed?.
    Thanks i Advance,
    Rameshkumar

Did you let it dry out for a week or so?
Turning it on wet will likely finish it off.
If it is dry, then double tap with three fingers.
This is covered in the manual under Zoom:
