Iphone 4s greyed out caller id

Please can someone help. I set up my new Iphone 4s via itunes from a previous backup all went well except when I go into settings/phone caller id is greyed out and says Number unknown instead of my mobile number.every thing else works fine.  I have contacted my service provider and they say its apples problem. Does anyone know how to resolve this matter

Suddenly, my iPhone4s after switching fron BB with Verizon staying with Verizon.  Then one day the contacts were not associated with the caller ID even though they were in the contacts, including a special ringtone and sounds.  I also remember some minor glitches with bluetooth on my car(some names wouldnt be found or siri wouldnt work through the speakers).
When I activated the phone, they did it over the phone with me talking to them not using *228 like older phones.  I was later told to do that.  Dial *228, press 1, wait for confirmation that will say or show to some effect- your phone is now fully programmed.  Then you go to home.  Press home(tap) twice.  This brings up the bottom row alone and shows all apps currently still running in the background from before.  Touch and hold an icon until it giggles w a red dash.  Close all of them out (this will not terminate your ability to see them, use them, or receive texts and calls...it just closes them completely so they don't drain juice.).  close all the icons that are jiggling including especially phone and contacts.
This should do it.  Last option was to do a reset/restore.  Some said through the phone for reset and through itunes for restore depending on what handles your contacts.  Have a backup ready though before doing that.

  • Iphone 4s greyed out

My iphone 4s greyed out last week, before the greyed out I experience difficulties in connecting to wifi. It all started when i update my ios to ios7.
I can still turn on my bluetooth, text, and call.
Is this a software issue or a hardware issue?
Is there any chances that they can rule-out this issue via another ios update?
**I went to iFix and they said that most iphone 4s experienced greyed out

I have this issue too ( the apple fix did not work for me ) - it started over 1 month ago but completely by accident, my phone battery drained completely and stayed drained for 12 hours.  Once I got back to a charger, I charged my phone and to my surprise, the wifi was working and available.  The WIFI stayed available for almost 1 month, and then became unavailable and greyed out again.  I proceeded to let the battery drain and plug it back in after 12 hours... the WIFI became available again.
In my opinion, if it was a hardware issue, the wifi should stay greyed out and un-available after a bettery drain.  The phone I have is an iPhone 4s, only 1 year 3 months old and I did not start having issues with it until an iOS update - I believe it was to iOS 7.

Please help... I have scoured the net trying everything the last few days.

Please correct your porfile: iPhone 4 do not have IOS 6.1.4.
The usual troubleshooting steps are, also remember to test it after every step:
    1. Restart
    2. Reset
    3. Restore from backup
    4. Restore as new.

    <Edited by Host>

    Dear all,
I´m from Argentina, I have an Iphone 4s 32GB purchased on June 2012.
When I updated to Ios 7.00 no wifi issues. Last week I updated to 7.0.2 instantly starts wifi issues, over heating and stopped working. I was tried every I read in this post and others and nothing change. I Tried hard reset to factory settings and nothing. I am sure that the problem is with Ios 7.0.2, because the problem start at this moment.

  • IPhone 4 Greyed Out Wifi

I have an iPhone 4 that I dropped partway in water. Due to the wetness, I turned it off ASAP and then threw it in a bag of rice. I waited a day and then powered it on again. It seemed to be partly working; I could sync to my PC and also could faintly make out the screen. For some reason, I decided to go ahead and update from iOS 5.0 to 5.0.1 while the phone was down. This went fine, although my screen was dark so I couldn't verify very much. I then took my phone apart and placed it in tupperware with rice. I waited another day and everything appears to be working, except for the wifi (greyed out) / bluetooth (can enter menu but it never finds it). I had read that some people have had issues with wifi after updating to 5.0.1, but I am also thinking it could be a hardware issue due to possible water damage or reassembly. On a side note, I have not jailbroken.
I was wondering if anyone here could provide me with some troubleshooting instructions. I have reset the network settings, hard restarted, and restored my iPhone to no avail. My wifi address is N/A, and my bluetooth has an address, but I can't turn it on. I have an IMEI and my modem firmware is 04.11.08.
    Thanks,
    Brett

Another bump hoping to catch someone's eye~
@diesel: My phone was dry enough to work. As a matter of fact, everything except the wifi/bluetooth is functional. I can make calls, check email over 3G, and do most of the vital functions of a phone (just not on wifi). I figured it would be fine because the flash LED was constantly on before putting it into the rice due to the moisture shorting out pins. After it dried, I recharged it and the LED was not on. As an electrical engineer, I understand the risks of moisture and how easily chips can blow. And as far as a replacement goes, I will be getting a 4S in March when my contract expires. I would like to use the phone for some home automation via wifi, so fixing it would be convenient.
If anyone has encountered a similar problem, any advice (such as issues that could arise from semi-careless reassembly) would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Brett

  • IPhone WiFi greyed out and Bluetooth loading forever...

What I have is a 32GB White iPhone 4. It came pre-owned but undamaged on ebay. What's happening is that when I try to turn on WiFi in settings I cant because it is "greyed out", meaning I cant select anything or switch the toggle. Also, my bluetooth isnt working either and the option to turn it on is replaced by it showing the spinning "loading" icon forever. On top of all this, when I go to check the MAC address, it shows it as "Wifi Address: N/A".
I have tried resetting network settings, tried restoring from iTunes, tried DFU mode, consulted Apple about a 125GBP repair (Which I think is too expensive)... And when I got REALLY desperate, I even tried the infamous freezer trick.
What should I do? How can I fix this cost effectively and determine whether this device is suffering hardware or software-wise?
    Thanks in advance,
    Themankymoo

I guess if you have already tried it that many times then it really must be hardware. Obviously opening it up is not something Apple supports and it would void the warranty but since it doesn't exactly have one that is really up to you. If you can find a kit somewhere online or if you have some shop near by that will fix it for you for much less than the $149 to replace with Apple then thats a very open option that you have available.

  • Copied my iTunes library to new MacBook Pro, why are my iPhone apps greyed out?

    Hi,
Rather than migrate from an iMac that I sold, I decided to just start fresh on a new Macbook Pro. I did back up my iTunes library and copied it over to the new Macbook. I synced my iPhone and iPad 2 on the new Macbook but the apps are greyed out. When I click the sync apps box all but a few of the apps (I'm assuming the ones that are default with the iPhone and iPad) dissappear.
I'd like the ability to arrange my apps with the Macbook at times and like the idea that I have a backup of all my apps on my computer. I realize I'm backing them up in iCloud, but just sayin'.
    Thanks,
    Bo

Do I purchase an external hard-drive and transfer? Or should I just go and get a 32 GB Flashdrive? Anyone have any tips for doing this stuff?
assuming all your media files are in the default location, connect the two Macs with a firewire cable, boot the source Mac in Target Disk Mode, and copy the entire iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music folder) from <MacintoshHD>/users/yourname/music on the source to <MacintoshHD>/users/yourname/music on the target (overwriting the iTunes folder in place there).
So how can I turn off the library on my iMac and just make it two?
    you can't.
you'll have to wait until you reach the limit of five machines. then you can use the deauthorize all option, following which you can reauthorize those computers you currently use/have access to.
have a look at this support article.

  • IPhone 4S greyed out Wifi / Will not Connect

4s Wifi is greyed out and I'm unable to turn on. Here is a list of what I have tried to fix the problem.
    Soft reset
    Hard reset
Total reset to factory settings/ Backup
    Checked for router firmware upgrade
Any ideas? This all started when I updated to 6.0.1
All other Apple devices in my home are working fine including a iPad 3, iPhone 5, Apple TV. This one phone is the only problem.
    Please help......
    Thanks

I'm sure they'll take care of it for ya.
They'll just make sure it doesn't show ovbious signs of damage and that you tried the steps in that article before they replace it.
Make sure you have a current backup, see this if you aren't sure how to backup -> iOS: How to back up

  • IPhone Songs Greyed Out - Won't Delete

    Hey,
For some reason my iPhone has synced music that will not be removed from my iPhone. These items appear greyed out on my iPhone, but do not show up in iTunes when I plug my iPhone in (For instance, Coldplay's album "Viva La Vida," appears on my iPhone greyed out, but iTunes shows that no such songs exist on my device). Similarly, some items are also greyed out in iTunes when I connect the iPhone (coincidentally, all items I bought from my account on my iPhone). If I try to delete the greyed items from my phone in iTunes, they appear to delete, but later reappear - and never leave my phone.
Image of greyed songs on iPhone:
Image of songs greyed in iTunes:
These songs will not be removed from my iPhone. Even if I delete my entire library from my iPhone, these songs remain.
Conveinently, all of the songs that will not delete are items that my sister has bought on her account, and my iPhone constantly asking me for my sister's iTunes password any time I connect my iPhone to my library. Surely these issues are connected. I have deauthorized my sisters account from my computer, and have tryed every possible method of removing these songs. I don't want my iPhone to have anything to do with my sisters account - how can I make it forget her account? I have tried every way I can imagine, including removing my entire library of music from my phone.
I am relatively savvy with iTunes and the iPhone, and cannot seem to fix this by any method. Is it something to do with iCloud?

Found this info here, but not sure if it will help you or not.  I am facing a similar situation that I have not eradicated just yet.

Songs purchased from multiple Apple IDs
Songs containing DRM (Digital Rights Management) may not appear, or may appear grayed out in iCloud. This can occur if your computer is not authorized for playback of that content. Try authorizing your computer, then manually update iTunes Match.
To determine what Apple ID your computer needs to be authorized for, locate and select the song in your iTunes library.
    Choose File > Get Info.
In the Summary tab, locate the Account Name field in the right column and write it down.
    Click OK.
Choose Store > Authorize this Computer.
Type in the account name from the Summary field and its password. Click Authorize.
Choose Store > Update iTunes Match.
    Check iCloud Status
Check to see the iCloud status of your songs. Choose View > View Options and enable "iCloud Status". iCloud status will help you to determine whether or not a song was purchased from the iTunes Store, matched, uploaded, or ineligible for upload. Items may not be eligible for upload if:
The item was purchased outside of the United States iTunes Store.
Your computer is not authorized for playback for that item.
The music video was not purchased from the iTunes Store.

  • HT1923 iphone sync greyed out

I have reinstallled I tunes and it is still greyed out?

Just to clarify I have a 1 month old Iphone4s, sync was fine as of Aug.25th, but for some reason today it doesn't work.
Same result on both computers, it doesn't show the Iphone when I hook it up.
Not the cord, or the ports since the Ipads I have both still work.
    This  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US  does not help.
    Any ideas??

  • Iphone email greyed out

iphone 4 mail greyed on one acct/need to chge pwd and can't

So you can select the account in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, it's just the SMTP settings that you can't edit (?). For some types of account you can't edit the default outgoing SMTP server info - the fields for the default Yahoo SMTP server are protected for my yahoo accounts. And if you've added a server and it's being used as the primary SMTP server for a different account on your phone then you also won't be able to change its properties.
I haven't changed any of the port numbers for any of my accounts.
For the account's password for checking and downloading incoming email, on yahoo based accounts the password shows on the second screen e.g. after tapping on the email account in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars to get the account's Mail, Contacts, Calendars etc on/off options for it, tapping on the Account line should give a second screen with Name, Email, Password fields on

  • Iphone wifi greyed out

anyone help with this? cannot access the on button on my iphone 4s

Your WiFi chip has very likely failed.  If restoring your device as NEW doesn't help, then you'll need to bring your phone to Apple for replacement.  It will cost $199 if you're outside the warranty period.
