IPhone 4S Has No Sound Recording Videos

This just started happening 2 days ago. When making a video/vine, you can't hear any audio playback. All I get is a hissing noise. But if I hold the phone up really close to my hear, I can kind of hear my voice/music/whatever I was recording. Also, if I put my mouth right on the mic & speak, I can hear that during playback, but as soon as back off it, I just get hissing. I've also been having a problem with my charging port. It will only charge when it's turned off. However, I can get it to charge when it's on by inserting it at an angle. Would these two things happen to be connected? It's really really really frustrating! If anybody can help that'd be great!
Side note: I went to a friends & docked my phone on his stereo. After that, is when I started having the problems. Im sure it could've damaged my phones charging port but also could've blocked audio from being recorded in videos. Im not sure. Just a theory.

I had this problem. Dirty or damaged charge connector. It was changed in repair shop, now is OK.

My iPhone 4S has no sound for videos. Only videos though, and no matter the source. I can't hear my own videos I record, videos from YouTube, Facebook, Instagram etc. I'm operating on 7.0.2. No, it's not muted with the side button but I can't figure out why it's not working.

There are two places where vibrations can be set.
One is the Settings > Sounds
The other area is Settings > Notifications
If you have an app set to Alert, it may have a vibration set for it.

My iPhone 4S has no sound when I play music, videos and movies

Is the slider all the way to the right??
And no, if your phone is vibrating when you get texts/calls then you're not in Do Not Disturb.   You would see a Crescent Moon symbol to the left of Battery % if it was on.

  • My Iphone 5 has no sound coming outing out of the speaker.

My Iphone 5 has no sound coming outing out of the speaker. I dont have it on silent. My dad and I blew into the speaker and it worked for a second then didnt work again!! HELP!!!

    Hey Amiee_19,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like your Ring/Silent switch may be toggled:
    Ring/Silent switch - iPhone
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/7/#/iph3bd01398
    Ring/Silent switch
Flip the Ring/Silent switch to put iPhone in ring mode or silent mode .
In ring mode, iPhone plays all sounds. In silent mode, iPhone doesn’t ring or play alerts and other sound effects.
Important: Clock alarms, audio apps such as Music, and many games play sounds through the built-in speaker, even when iPhone is in silent mode. In some areas, the sound effects for Camera and Voice Memos are played, even if the Ring/Silent switch is set to silent.
For information about changing sound and vibration settings, see Sounds and silence.
Use Do Not Disturb. You can also silence calls, alerts, and notifications using Do Not Disturb. Swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen to open Control Center, then tap the Do Not Disturb button . See Do Not Disturb.

  • Iphone 4 has sound recording video, no sound during calls

    Hi,
I'm not sure whether this is a hardware glitch or software one.I hope someone can help me with this.
The microphone seem to be picking up signals fine when recording video, however not other times.
And If a earpiece is plugged in the it can pick up sound normally.
    I've tried the following:
    - restore iphone
    - upgrade to lasted ios
    - clean audio jack port
    and replacing dock connector
none of these solved the problem...
    any suggestion welcome

Unfortunately the previous IOS wont be restored just your data. We´ll have to wait for the new IOS 6.1.1 which is currently being tested. Here I really verified the problem has been caused after the upgrade and It´s really a software issue because if when I answer the call I scream the first HELLOOO then the mic sensibility will be changed for the rest of the talk, so the mic or hardware is ok.
Many 4S owners are complaining not just about this specific problem but others related to call drops. We´ve got to wait

  • My iphone 5 has no sound

My iphone no longer has any sound at all through the speakers or the headphone.  I can't hear ring tones, any tones, music, videos, use of the speaker phone during phone calls, nothing. This phone is only 2 months old and I just did a software upgrade and that didn't help.

i have a macbook so sometimes this happens to it as well. what i found to help a lot is if you stick a sewing needle into the headphone jack. similar to the macbook, i feel like the connection thinks it's still plugged into something (notice that when you're adjusting the volume it says volume (headphones) not just ringer). unlocked, and while adjusting the volume, probe around with a needle, pushing it as close to the center all the way in. you may have to do this a few times. the first time i did it it worked, but went back in a few seconds. i did it again and it worked!
no need to drive to apple!

  • IOS 7.0.4 on iPhone 4S has caused sound to go on and off? Has anyone else experienced this? Is it fixable?

Also the animation of the bell with a sound bar underneath is not working properly. Sometimes it pops up with the bar under the bell and sometimes the bar is missing and just the square with the bell is all you see. The side sound buttons are still functioning, just an animation glitch. When head phones are plugged in there is no change in the strange sounds going in and out. Videos are the worst and not only do they not play sound but thy also pause themselves??? The typing has intermittent sound. I have hard reset and rebooted my phone about 8 or 10 times with only temporary relief. I connected to iTunes and toatlly reset everything once, still no change??

    Are you connected to wifi?
If you can't do it on the phone, you can most certainly do it via itunes.

  • My iphone 4s has no sound!!

My iphone has no sound.  My incoming calls can't be heard, the keyboard, music....nothing.  I tried every suggestion that has been posted.  I removed the SIM card and put it back.  Powered the phone on and off.  Pushed the volume up and down buttons several times.  Blew out the headphone jack and put the headphones in and out several times.  I can hear music through the headphones, but that is it.  (And for those individuals that posted make sure the button on the side is in "ring" mode...thank you...that was the first thing I checked).
I wonder if everyone who this problem and tried all the troubleshooting had to return their phones?  Did you have to send it in to Apple?  How long did it take to fix?  I have a hard time being without a phone, I run my business this way.  If anyone knows, please let me know.
I think it is pretty bad of Apple when you pay so much for a phone and so many people are having this problem that they don't figure it out and fix it.  Maybe a recall??  Sounds like too many of us have had this problem.

    Hello,
Sorry about your situation. We do shell out some money for this phone (some more than others) but at the end of the day we are humans and these phones are also made by workers that cannot even afford and iPhone. Don't blame Apple (blame Foxconn?).
I normally use the vibrate with the Bluetooth headset and send the audio through the Bluetooth speaker, so this is not a big issue for me. However if your settings are correct they can verify this issue at the store immediately but not sure about the turn around but the Apple genius should have some estimate.
Hope the the Bluetooth can help.
