I have this exact same issue. Replaced my iPhone 4s with the new iPhone 5s, setting up my new iPhone 5s to restore from iCloud. This completed and now I am unable to delete my old iPhone 4s iCloud backup (consuming 15.1 GB of my 20GB allocation). How can I delete it, so that I get my 15 GB back? The only way to restore an iCloud backup is to start by erasing the phone. Go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Conent and Settings, go through the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup.

Yesterday, I used my iphone4 icloud backup for my new iphone5. As the wifi connection was unstable I experienced problems. So I backed up my iphone4 on itunes. You said it was a network drive. So is someone else on the network using that same file or may have have left with excel still accessing it on their system?

You will have to use the Apple ID and password that has been used to set up his iPhone to restore it from the backup.
And the iOS on your phone has to be at least the same version. Backups made by a newer iOS version can't be used on an older iOS device unless this device is updated.

Why do I have to keep putting my password in on my iPhone?

Try in this order.
First
1.) Go to Settings-->iCloud-->Storage and Backup
2.) Click on Back Up Now to force a backup from your phone
Second
If that doesn't work do step 1 above and turn off and then back on "iCloud Backup"
Last ditch effort (this is what Apple Support had me do)
If that doesnt work go to Settings-->iCloud and then Delete your account. Before doing this make sure you remember your ID and password because you'll have to re-enter them. Choose the option to leave the data on your phone.
Then, add your iCloud account back. By going to Settings-->iCloud. When prompted, you'll choose the option to merge your data with iCloud. You'll have to go back in and turn Backup on again and turn PhotoStream back on again (assuming you want PhotoStream on).

Can't restore my stuff on iPhone via iCloud backup

My iPhone was stolen a few weeks ago - and of course I immediatly locked it via Find my iPhone on icloud.com. Now I have a new device, but my iCloud backups are not displayed in the setup process (only pretty old ones from my 3GS). Is this because the old phone is locked?

Fixed it. I figured out that the "new" phone I bought from a friend was still running iOS5.x and therefore couldn't display iCloud-Backups made with iOS6. I think that's a bug Apple should fix - they should at least display the latest backups when trying to restore and then give the advice to update the OS... But now I'm back on track and happy to have all my data back :-)

Under iCloud--Storage and Backup--iCloud backup the toggle switch is greyed out, I can't turn it on.
In an effor to fix it, I accidentally deleted my iPhone backup
1. Can I restore the backup I deleted?
2. Any hints for how to get iCloud backup to work? I've purchased enough storage to fit everything I want to back up

If your phone was provided by your employer or if you have added your work exchange email account to your phone, it's likely that your employer has pushed a security profile to your phone preventing you from backing it up to iCloud. (Many employers don't want their confidential information stored on another company's servers.) If this is the case you will see a setting called "Profile" in Settings>General near the bottom.
You would have to check with your employer's IT department to confirm this.

Set up iPhone from iCloud backup

Advice needed please.
My current iPhone 5s on ios8.1 is backed up to iCloud and I will soon need to set up a second 5s but will be in a country with very slow internet and intermittent connection and no access to my iTunes.
What I would like to do is to activate the second phone over wifi but only set it up using the native Apple apps and my contacts from my iCloud backup so as to save time in downloading.
Is it possible when choosing to set the phone up using an existing iCloud backup to select what apps / content is downloaded or the only option to download the full backup? I have set up phones before using iCloud backups but cannot recall whether there was an option to be selective as to what was downloaded.

Trouble with iPhone 5 iCloud backup restore - won't finish

Apple replaced my iPhone 5 free of charge two weeks ago after it suddenly died through no fault of my own (hardware issue).
I updated the software on the new phone and then set it to restore from iCloud.
Two weeks later - the restore still hasn't finished apparently!
Two main issues:
1) How do I get it to finish? i have checked for songs in itunes that are from others' accounts and can't see or remember any, although it is asking me for people's passwords when I turn the phone on. STRANGELY though some of the users it is asking me for I haven't even seen since I've owned an iPhone 5!! How can I determine what it is still trying to download and who these accounts are linked too? I have looked through itunes and can only see songs that I've purchased.
2) Missing photos - I just returned from a cruise when my phone died. When I first restored it, my photos reappeared in the photo stream, and then one day later they all disappeared again!! Obviously they are in the cloud somewhere. How can I recover them??

IPhone 5 iCloud Backup Troubles!! Urgent!

Okay. So one morning a few weeks ago, i woke up and it had told me i hadnt backed up iCloud for over two weeks. I thought this was strange as it told me that it would back up by itself if i locked the phone and it was connected to wifi. So I tried to back it up manually and as it told me on the lock screen, it hadnt backed up for two weeks. So i turned the iCloud backup off and back on to see if that fixed it and it made matters even worse. I tried to back it up manually and it said it would take 4 hours, it wasnt actually 4 hours, but when i came back to see if it was done, it said it had never backed up. And since then, ive been trying regularly to back it up, each time failing and im very worried as i have no back up and im paranoid that something will happen to my phone and i will lose all my stuff. Please answer i need to back it up urgently!!!
Also, I am thinking that it may have something to do with the latest iOS 6.1.4 update, but thats just my thought.

The wifi on your phone will only stay active if it is plugged in to a power source when locked. The backups probably were not done because it dropped the wifi when you locked it.

This needs to be addressed because you will not be able to use an incomplete backup. Not being able to back up to iCloud can be caused by a corrupt existing backup that needs to be deleted, or by data on your device that is causing the backup to fail. To troubleshoot these, try deleting your last iCloud backup (if you have one) by turning off iCloud Backup in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage, tap your device under Backups, then tap Delete Backup. Then go back and turn iCloud Backup back on and try backing up again.
If it still won't back up, you may have an app or something in your camera roll that is causing the backup to fail. To locate which one, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your device under Backups, under Backup Options tap Show All Apps, then turn them all to Off (including camera roll) and try backing up again. If the backup is successful, then the camera roll and/or one of your apps is causing the backup to fail and you'll have to located by process of elimination. Turn the camera roll On and try backing up again. If it succeeds, turn some of your apps to On and try backing up again. If it succeeds again, turn some more apps to On then try again; repeat this process until it fails. Eventually you'll be able to locate the problem app and exclude it from your backup.

How do I remove previous device from iCloud account? (It is removed from Find My iPhone and iCloud Backup)

I recently got a new iPhone and traded in my old one. At the store, the representatives erased the contents and settings of the old phone (though they did run into some difficulties because of a pre-installed profile and I think were successful after a few attempts) and removed the SIM card. However, the old device keeps showing up on my iCloud account. I removed it from Find My iPhone and deleted the stored backup for the phone, but it's still there. I've talked with Apple Support about it as well as called the store on what I should do. Apple cannot remove the device on my account for me (which is fair), but I think it's strange that I can't remove my own device either. It won't give me any option to.
The Apple people reassure me not to worry and that everything is probably "fine", but I don't like this uneasy feeling that my iCloud account (and who knows what other data) might have an open connection or hole somewhere that I'm not aware about.
Please help!

Some people I've talked to speculated (but could not confirm) that this "glitch" would be fixed once someone registered their own iCloud account to the old device; this would force the old device to be removed from my iCloud account and transferred to the new user. How long have you been experiencing this "glitch"? I'm guessing if Apple calls it a glitch on iCloud, it won't be fixed any time soon...
