anybody is know wifi is greyed or work in iphone 4s ios 6.1.2    ?????

Bad news guys.
My stuff doesn't work anymore.
No WIFI and i don't for Bluetooth.
I've reinstaledl the 6.1.2 using iTunes with the 4S as new but that was not a good idea ... Maps of my coPilot can't be downloaded because no wifi.
Apple take a quick action to solve this issue ... iPhone is one of my professional tools ... If no solution by the end of next week ... Bye bye iOS and welcome Android ...
PS: no problem with 6.1.2 on my iPad 2 WIFI.

  • IPhone 4S/iOS 7.0.4/WiFi Grey Out Issues

My iPhone 4S (64GB memory/ATT) was working beautifully on iOS 5.1.1.  WiFi connected seamlessly with Access Points at home, work, etc.
Then I made the mistake of wirelessly updating to iOS 7.0.4.  Instantly the WiFi stopped working and the <Settings>, <WiFi> tab was greyed out and non-responsive.  Oddly the WiFi tab on the Control Panel was responsive, but did not actually activiate the WiFi chip or open a connection to the WiFi antenna.  Accordingly, there is no option to find or connect to a WiFi network.
Most other features appear to work, including the ATT cellular service and Bluetooth connection.  However, the iPhone is slow to respond to some apps,   For example, tapping <Settings> takes 5-6 seconds for a response whereas with iOS 5.1.1 the response was instantaneous.  Also a few apps (even after updating) and a couple of iOS pages now cause the iPhone to go blank for a few seconds or crash.
Sounded like either an iOS or firmware issue to me.
I followed all of the Apple and ATT suggestions, including:
-Confirming that the iPhone is not in Airplane mode.
-Turning the iPhone off, waiting, and restarting.
-Forcing a hard restart of the iPhone by holding the <Silent> and <Home> keys simultaneously for 7 seconds.
-Resetting the network settings by tapping <Settings>, <General>, <Reset>, and <Reset Network Settings>.
-Checking for a newer iOS (none).
At the suggestion of a couple of ATT support representatives, I tried even more drastic measures:
    -Resetting all settings by tapping <Settings>, <General>, <Reset>, and <Reset All Settings>.
-Resetting all content and settings by tapping <Settings>, <General>, <Reset>, and <Reset All Content and Settings>.
-Backing up, Restoring iOS and firmware, and Restoring applications and data using iTunes.
-Restoring iOS and firmware using iTunes, and then setting up as a new iPhone.
-Turning off iPhone, waiting while ATT pushed a new switch data pack to iPhone, and then restarting iPhone.
Actually I did all of these "fixes" at least twice with the same result:  still a greyed out and non-responsive <Settings> <WiFi> tab with no WiFi signal.
Apple and ATT's ultimate solution was predictable:   Buy a new 64 GB iPhone 5 for several hundred dollars (plus numerous proprietary cables) and forget the 47 GB of data, photos, etc. lost beta-testing their iOS and "fixes".
Any "fixes" that I missed or other suggestions?

ChrisJ4203, thanks very much for your input.  I don't mean to turn this post into an endless debate, but frankly I am still having a hard time believing that the WiFi died as a result of a hardware failure.
My logic might be flawed, but here it is:
While the iPhone 4S got very hot when wirelessly downloading and installing iOS 7.0.4 over the WiFi network, the WiFi chip and antenna had to be functional to complete the wireless iOS update.  Apple was very clear that iOS 7.0.4 is too large to download and install via cellular service.  Accordingly it would appear that any hardware failure had to occur in the few minutes between the download/installation of iOS 7.0.4 and its first use.  That window of opportunity is incredibly small in an otherwise flawless hardware performance.  I am not a big believer in long shot coincidences, so a WiFi hardware malfunction seems highly improbable to me, but not impossible.  A firmware/iOS conflict still seems more plausible to me.
I also don't read much into Apple's "out-of-warranty" replacement offer at $199.  AT&T tells me that anyone walking in off the street (with or without a hardware or iOS malfunction) would receive the same offer.
I appreciate that some iPhone 4S users did not experience any WiFi issues when they updated to iOS 7.0.4, but such difference could easily be explained if Apple used more than one WiFi chip and/or firmware in the iPhone 4S series.  Such an explanation would also account for iOS 7.0.4 (and 7.0.6) not recognizing the WiFi chip after the iOS update.
Still perplexed, but thanks again for your kind efforts to help.
Wonder if I can limp along long enough to spend my money on an Apple iPhone 6 ... but then again I don't want to be anyone's beta-tester.
I am tempted to switch to a Samsung Galaxy or some other smartphone as long as I will be buying new accessories, but frankly I don't want to waste my time learning a new OS or core apps.

  • Upgraded my iphone to ios 5 now the wifi settings is greyed out saying "no wifi"

Hi today i update to IOS 5 on my Verizon iPhone 4 and now my wifi doesnt work. When i go to configure my wifi place next to were it says wifi in the settings is greyed out and says "no wifi". i obviously cant tap it and configure it. I dont know what's going on! it was working on IOS 4.2.10 literally 2 minutes before updating and now it doesnt work! i have NOT dropped my iPhone or spilled anything on it. The update seems to have "killed" my wifi. if anyone can help me that would be greatly appreciated seeing as to how i dont have unlimited data and need wifi

I'm having the same problem with my AT&T iPhone 4.
After installing ios5, WiFi was greyed out in settings. I turned my phone off and back on, and wifi was back. It saw my 2 routers, and allowed me to input my WEP passwords for them, but then, when I went to an app that used wifi, Safari, it wouldn't connect, and listed "Not Connected" Going back into WiFi prefs, it appeared to be searching for networks, but didn't find any. Not my 2, nor any of the neighbors. I usually see 3-4 networks other than my own.
Turn it off and on again, WiFi greyed out again.
Reset all settings - Wifi back, but with the same results as the first time.
Reset network settings - Wifi still greyed out.
I see this has happened at other new iOS releases, but never to me. Hopefully there will be a patch soon. I do have unlimited data, but dang 3G is slow.
I'm going to back up my phone this morning, and do a restore to factory settings, and see what that does, besides totally screw up all my apps.

  • Ios 6.1.2 wifi is work ??? in iPhone 4s

anybody know iphone 4s in ios 6.1.2 wifi is greyed or work?

    Dear Apple.
I was really happy with my iphone4s, IOS 6.0, great product amazing quality and posibilities BUT.......
I updated from IOS 6.0 to 6.1.1. and the WIFI nightmare started.
I waited for a new update to fix the WIFI problems and I updated my iphone 4s from 6.1.1. to 6.1.2. in order to solve these problems related with WIFI connections.
But IOS 6.1.2. is even worst:
    - WIFI is not working at all. So I cannot download apps greater than 50MB.
    - Battery life is shorter than ever.
    - 3G goes in and out every minute.
    - When you operate the iphone4s you can realize that is hotter than before.
These problems are unnaceptable and inconsistent with a high quality standard product.
You can read a lot of blogs, I am not the only one.
Please give us a solution as soon as possible.
    Best Regards

I had new  covers fitted and at the same time the person installed a new wifi board but it did not improve the performance.

  • IPhone 4S' iOS 5's Internet no longer works.

    Hello.
My client's iPhone 4S (still on iOS5 -- did not touch iOS 6 yet)'s Internet stopped working since e-mails, Maps, etc. don't download. We tried powering it off and on to reboot, but that did not help. The voice phone part works though. This is on Verizon Wireless' carrier with is 3G data. Wifi works fine. Also, it says it needs an upgrade? Is that iOS 6? Is there an outage or is there something wrong with the iPhone? Is Verizon Wireless having problems?
    Thank you in advance.

Re: ios 7.1 ipad wifi problems
    Mar 26, 2014 7:35 PM (in response to pjl1005)
I have several IOS devices and updated each of them to Apple's release of IOS 7.1.
Unfortunately my iPhone 4s did not update successfully. It was affected by the widely reported issue regarding WiFi being disabled permanently. After the update to IOS 7.1, wifi is no longer an accessible option on the IPhone 4s.
After doing some online research and identifying this as a common problem, I tried some of the suggestions available online such as resetting settings and restoring from backup. None of these suggestions worked.
I brought the iPhone 4s to the apple store at the Rideau Center in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and spoke to one of the employees. He stated that it was not an apple issue and that it was a problem with my phone that would cost $200 to resolve. He said that it was not a problem related to the ios 7.1 update and that it was a "coincidence" that it happened at the same time as the update to ios 7. 1 and was probably an issue with the wifi chip.
It is surprising to me that applying an update recommended by apple and using the iPhone 4s in the manner in which it was designed (using wifi) would cause this basic function (wifi) to cease to function.
Wifi is an essential part of my day to day use of this device. I am appalled that apple is denying the problem and has no resolution for it.
If anyone else this problem, please go to your nearest apple store and let this forum know your experience in getting the issue resolved.

  • Signals drop on iPhone 5s iOS 8.1 both wifi and network

I am having the following problems since i updated to iOS 8.1 on my iPhone 5s 16GB model A1533 :
1- My network signals drop to 3 dots and sometimes to 2 and stay there.
2- Sometimes my wifi disconnects itself on my iphone for almost 4 or 5 seconds
3- My battery is draining faster that ever. I turned off the use of fingerprint and found it useful but still my iphone consumes a lot of battery. I get my battery percentage dropped to 80% from 100% in just 20minutes of whatsapp usage. My fone's vibration is never on. Location services all off except find my iphone. Background app refresh also off. I tried everything. Erase all settings, hard reset etc. NO USE
4- Playing games is really difficult. Battery drains very fast.
I did not have these problems on 7.1.2. Need help
    Regards,
    Ahmad

I understand that but I hope that people from Apple will be referring to the support groups and may actually think about that last paragraph.

  • IPhone 4, iOS 6 update, and wifi - cannot browse WWW via DNS

Apologies for the long post in advance. Hopefully it's exhaustive enough for Apple to take notice.
    tl;dr:
updated iPhone 4 (VZW) to iOS 6 on home wi-fi. now phone will not browse to WWW on home wi-fi, EXCEPT WHEN BYPASSING DNS (ie, browsing by IP address). tried lots. no success
    full events detail:
I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 6 yesterday evening (via iTunes on my Win 7 x64 PC). Upon completion, I ran into some trouble trying to sign in with my AppleID in order to restore from my iCloud backup. Suspecting that Apple's servers were just experiencing trouble (though nothing indicated iCloud was down), I skipped signing in and went about my day. The rest of my settings copied across from my computer. At that point, I slept on it.
The following morning (today), I noticed that I still could not sign in, but was off to work and did not have time to examine it further. At the office, all seemed well, and I used the phone with the updated OS largely without issue, including connecting to two new wifi networks. Returning home, however, I noticed that the behavior was the same as the previous evening, ie I could not connect to things like the App Store in order to install updates, the web to look for information, etc. Now having time to troubleshoot, I pressed forward with the investigation and immediately found a number of support community and web threads detailing wi-fi issues on devices after updating to iOS 6. I followed the steps I found, but I still have the same issue. Below is the list of things I've attempted, to the best of my ability to recollect.
    1. forget network, rejoin - same symptoms
    2. power off phone, power on - same symptoms
    3. set wi-fi network HTTP proxy to Auto - same symptoms
    3. forget network, power off wi-fi, power off cellular data, power on wi-fi, rejoin network (same symptoms), power on cellular data (same symptoms)
    4. power off bluetooth (already done, no change), power on bluetooth - same symptoms
    5. forget network, airplane mode on, power on wi-fi, rejoin network - same symptoms
    6. clear cookies, cache, website data - same symptoms
    7. try another browser (Opera) - same symptoms
    8. try static IP on wi-fi network - same symptoms
    9. forget network, power off router, turn off wi-fi, power off phone, power on phone, reset network settings, power on wi-fi, power on router (after 5+ mins), rejoin - same symptoms
    10. restore phone to factory defaults (same symptoms) and restore from backup (same symptoms)
    11. enable SSID broadcast on router - same symptoms
    12. enable WMM on 802.1n router - already enabled, same symptoms
    13. disable 40MHz channels on 802.1n router - same symptoms
    14. set router to 802.1g operation - same symptoms
    15. remove wireless security from wi-fi network - same symptoms
    16. change SSID - same symptoms
    17. update router firmware - no updates available, also, same router was working prior to update and continues to work without trouble with all other wi-fi devices in the house
    18. try another router - already verified this works, but as a result of the particulars of this case, is not relevant as my home router is not at fault, so much as the update to iOS 6 is on my iPhone 4. as other routers work and as a factory restore did not resolve (prior to backup restoration), I also do not believe my iPhone 4 to be at fault, so much as the software update itself
Having exhausted all of those suggestions, I dug further. The phone was working without issue up until the moment it needed to reboot to apply the downloaded iOS 6 update. I initially encountered the incorrect password scenario during the post-update configuration, but after forgetting and setting up the wireless profile from scratch (from the iOS 6 setup wizard), it joined my wi-fi network. The phone DID pull an IP address from my router, and responded to pings from other devices on my network without issue. In addition, using the Safari browser to web to a local network device, such as my router, was successful, indicating that the wi-fi network was established and routing appropriately. All other devices on the network, wired or otherwise, were working without issue. I then attempted to trace traffic and found that none of my phone's web requests were reaching my router, except for those targeted at the LAN. I then tried browsing to an IP to ensure there was not a DNS issue, and my phone browsed successfully. I then tried another site by domain name and failed, and then its IP and was successful. I verified against my router's logs that the web requests were routing through it to ensure that my cellular data wasn't taking over, and the logs confirmed it. At that point, I tried changing DNS from my standard servers to another set, but the behavior remained the same. I then tried setting my router as the DNS server, but the issue remained.
In conclusion, it appears to be some sort of DNS issue specific to the update. I would also hazard a guess that this is impacting people on the networks where they downloaded the update and/or were connected when the phone actually updated. I've tried setting the profile to use local, ISP, and public DNS servers, but as the requests never reach my router, I am inclined to believe it's being restricted by a setting on the phone itself. Because the problem persists through a factory restore, it would seem to point to all data not being truly erased during that process. Recall that I'm having the same issue prior to a backup being restored to the device, and that this issue prevents iCloud from being accessed during the setup process while on the problematic wi-fi network, so that should rule out the backup playing any part in the trouble.
    Any thoughts?

The OP is correct, I have done many tests.  With IOS6 there appears to be a dns issue in some cases with IOS for both ipad(2) at lease (my wife won't let me upgrade here v1) and the iPhone4s in my case.  Pretty easy to diagonse, I wish Apple would fix it.
1.) I use a Juniper 5GT wireless firewall and all of my other devices (many apple, ipad, MBP, iMAC,3 ipods etc) are fine: Not ipad2 or iphone4s running IOS6
2.) after upgrade nothing worked.  narrowed it down by messing with dns (I have my own dns server)
3.) Strange thing; dns works over MiFI (Verizon) and Carrier
4.) confirmed that it is a dns and not network issue.
-down load free tool called ping-scope-lite.   (obviously you need to turn off wifi to do this)
      http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ping-scope-lite/id431500107?mt=8
    turn on wifi
    - ping Level3 dns server 4.2.2.2 or Googlesdns servers 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 these worked.
-now ping by name google.com or ipchicken.com
       - try others; same result.
Apple did say that they would give me another iphone 4s: I just wasn't sure that would fix my issue.  I tried downgrading to 5.1.1 but I got an error saying my device wasn't able to do so (tried even blocking itunes from contacting Apple)  I whis this could be fixed.  I did even have it working using my own dns server but now I can see that my phone over wifi isn't even trying to make a dns request now.

  • HT4623 I updated my iphone with IOS 7 and my wifi and bluetooth is not working. How can I go back to IOS 6?

How can I go back to IOS 6?

  • IPhone 5 iOS 6 FaceTime on wifi and 3G bug

Think this is a bug. I have iPhone 5 with latest IOS 6.0.2 I think.
When I have 3G mobile, but not data enabled and I have a wifi connection FaceTime does not work and says 'connecting' but no connection is ever made.
If I change the settings to 3G with data or wifi only with no 3G then FaceTime works.
At home I have a 3G signal booster connected to my router as I have poor mobile coverage in my area do the 3g signal booster is a must have.
I don't like having 3G data on as well though as this drains my battery quickly and is expensive on data costs From my provider.
Tried to log a bug with apple this is easy to replicate.

    using facetime http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4319
    troubleshooting facetime http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3367
So if I understand you correctly when you have 3G data turned off and on wifi - you can't use facetime.
YOu can use wifi for facetime - the other party needs to be on wifi or cellular data.
You can use cellular data for facetime only if your cell providers offers that.

  • IPhone 3G - iOS 4.2.1 - WiFi Refuses to Connect.

As it says... my iPhone 3G has refused to connect to the internet using Wifi.
Bit of history on it... It was a Telstra phone, and worked perfectly with WiFi, but since it was racking up unknown $3000 bills per month we decided to switch it to Optus, and it still worked fine.
Ever since we have swapped SIM Cards, or upgraded to iOS 4+ the WiFi just refuses to connect. It will pickup the router fine, and will say its connecting but then say it cannot and I have to dismiss the notification.
    Any ideas? Solutions? Workarounds?
    Thank you in advance.

There is no solution available other than selling it and putting the money towards a new iPhone.

  • IPhone 4 IOS update on home wifi never successfully completes.

I've never been able to successfully update my iPhone 4 on my home network since I first purchased it a couple of years back. I've asked at the Genius Bar on previous occasions but was offered no solution, was merely explained that there might a wifi issue. When I try update my iPhone goes into update screen with apple logo on top and a completion bar at the bottom. The completion gets to about 75% complete then that's it it doesn't go any further. Then I'm left without a useful phone cannot make phone calls cannot look up contacts cannot call apple for support ! Then the only option is to go into apple store to update on their computers. I've had to do this several times since I first purchased the phone, and was left with well, many questions, the main one being why ? Why does the process complete on apple store wifi but not at home ?
Quite unhelpful that I've never been offered an answer, hence I've never upgraded my iPhone to a new one.
It's very inconvenient as the first time it happened I was left without my only form of contact, I didn't have any phone numbers, and didn't have the time to fiddle around with phone updates, I merely tried updating as I thought it was a simple quick process. Instead it turned out to be. Very time consuming. A it must be to read this account of my experiences with my first iPhone, so ill end it here !
Would be nice to finally be offered a solution. It certainly would be more convenient as I don't update my iPhone 4 at because I know from past experience ill be left without a phone.
BTW a interesting interesting thing happened the other day, I did a backup of my phone, and by chance went into the broadway apple store and she I later walked out notice my iPhone had lost all contacts and apps  and notes were not there it was like it got cleaned out!
It was ok before going into the apple store. Any ideas ?
    Thanks guys
