IPhone 4s IOS 6.1.3 will not connect to 2011 BMW 328XI

Hello,
I recently updated my iPhone to IOS 6.1.3.  Everything appears to be working except I can no longer play music through my iDrive system.  The phone connects fine to the stereo in my other car and can be controlled from the stereo head unit.  I can also connect it to my home stereo through the headphone jack and that works flawlessly as well.  When I connect it to my iDrive usiing the Y USB cable, the external devices just says not connected and nothing happens.  I have tried reseating the cable and also cleaning the 30 pin connector on the phone but no luck.  Has anyone had this happen?  Should I just assume the cable has now gone defective and replace it?
Thanks!

Hi JimHdk,
I have also upgraded to ios6.1.3, and facing same wifi connecting problem, after upgrade my iphone3gs is not connecting to my laptop shared wifi, which was working perfect with ios6.1.2,
and its not an hardware error, its software error, crippy apple does not test their releases which causes problem to users.
Updates:
Earlier wifi connection which i was using on my Iphone 3gs, was WPA2, which was shared from my laptop via "Microsoft virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter", was working perfectly till ios6.1.2, but when i have upgraded my iphone 3gs to ios6.1.3, my iphone 3gs became unable to join wifi,
Today I have created "adhoc network"  on my laptop using "Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n"(default wifi adapter of my laptop), and kept security type "WEP", and found my wifi working fine with my iphone 3gs,
So if someone using LAN internet on their laptop, they can share their LAN internet to use on their ios devices, via creating an 'adhoc network',
How to create an 'Adhoc Network',
choose Security Type : WEP (compatible with ios6.1.3)

  • IPhone 4S iOS 6.1.3 will not connect to or even find any wifi networks, any ideas?

I updated my iPhone 4S to iOS 6.1.3 and therein started my wifi problems. At first the signal was just dropping out and I kept getting the "Unable to join..." message, which was annoying but it had periods of time where it worked fine and gave me some hope. Since yesterday my phone has not actually identified any of the available wifi signals (not just my router, but also any other networks when I've been out and about) and so I am unable to join any as I cannot even see them to select them.
    I have tried:
    - changing the channel on my router
    - turning my router off and on again
    - turning my phone off and on again
    - plugging my phone into the computer and making sure it was updated (I did this yesterday which may have made it worse as that's when the problem intensified?)
    - resetting my phone by holding down the home and power button
    - resetting the settings on my phone (numerous times)
    - changing the WPA2 settings on the router
    - checking that I have got the wifi turned on
    - setting my iPhone to "ask to join" wireless networks
I would suspect something fishy with the router, except that my husbands iPhone is still working fine (he has not yet updated his iOS), my MacBook and his laptop are still connecting fine, as is the PS3 and the wireless printer. I went out today to a place with an open wifi network and my friend with an iPhone 4S (*not* updated to iOS 6.1.3) could see it and connect to it, but my phone didn't even pick it up and we were sitting right next to each other. There are 10 wifi networks in the vacinity of my house which my MacBook and husbands iPhone can see but my phone is now not seeing any of them. This HAS to be something on my phone, but I can't ruddy well work out what it is and meanwhile I am going to get charged loads for using up my data allowance. The only good thing so far about having all this faff is that when I updated to 6.1.3 my phone wouldn't send any photos to anyone unless it was via iMessage and since I've been changing all the settings I found one that works, so I have been able to send my mother in law some pictures of her granddaughter. My own parents will be getting upset by the lack of wifi though as I don't want to FaceTime them using my 3G.
Any help would be most appreciated.

  • My iPhone 4s iOS 7.0.4 will not update music or apps from iTunes 11.1.3.  this was true of my pc and the new MacPro.

My iphone 4s ios 7/0/4 will not update music or apps from itunes 11.1.3.  this was true with my pc since ios 7.0.3 even with update 7.0.4 and now continues with my new MacPro also runing itunes 11.1.3.   as most state in previous threads, syncs all non itunes related data with no issue and appears to work correctly on itunes data but then hangs on the last step of updating until it times out.  i have tried marking specific music to transfer, setting up new playlist, deleting some old playlist on phone but stopped short of restoring my phone back to new due to the amount of non itunes data that i will lose.  The itunes setup on the macpro was completely with the download of all music from a previous external backup and the creation of new playlist - on the first sync with existing phone it did ask to overwrite all phone itunes data with macpro itunes data which i did accept - no different result - no changes on phone.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If the problem continues, take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.

  • After updating my iPhone 5 to iOS 8.1 it will not connect to the wifi network at work even though it recognizes it. It however still automatically connects to the network at home. I have restared the phone and toggled the router, still no connection

After updating my iPhone 5 to iOS 8.1 it will not connect to the wifi network at work even though it recognizes it. It however still automatically connects to the network at home (this is the network I used to update the phone). My iPad however does not seem to have any problem connecting. I have restared the phone, toggled the router, re-entered the network password but there's still no connection.

When your device is trying to connect to the work Wi-Fi network, go to Settings > Wi-Fi > then tap on the name of the Netowrk that she is having trouble with. Then tap on forget this network. Let the device attempt to connect again and make absolutely sure she is trying to connect to the work network and not a nearby network, then make absolutely sure the password is entered correctly.

Warning to iPhone users.  Do not start the update of the iPhone software using iTunes.
Nonsense, and very misleading advice.  I've updated iPhone 3G, 3Gs,and 4  through itunes many times, never had a problem once, not with one single update in nearly 5 years of iPhones.  Of course, I've never jailbroken my phones either.  Hack your phone and have update problems?  I've got news for you, the problems are not a result of iTunes or Apple's updates.

Dude you have a jailbroken phone as stated in your first post, no need to do a second post.
As per the forum term of service you can't get help here.  Use google.
that's the downfall of jailbreaking your phone.

  • My iPhone 4's running iOS 7.1.2 will not connect to wifi?

Both my iPhone 4 and 4s will not connect to my homes Wifi.  I'm aware that there are MANY different forums with the same question but I have tried everything from what i've seen and nothing has worked.  I also have an iPad and MBP that are connected to the wifi just fine.  I'm only curious because, well, if i'm not using Wi-fi, i'm using up Data.  I don't think this is a "take your phone to an Apple Genius Bar" type of problem because it has happened before on multiple occasions. I did nothing out of the ordinary to fix it before; it just simply worked again after an hour or two but it has been far longer than that this time.
Is there anyone else who has tried most, if not all solutions and found any ways to figure out what the exact problem could be?  I think it would be cool if apple could give us an error such as "Unable to join the network 'xxxxx' (Error:#000090)"  <--So that at least we'd have some type of idea of what's wrong.  No solutions have worked so far and it's becoming a hassle .  Thanks to any help.
Also, usually when it happens before it acts as if it's attempting to connect (spinning thing goes for about 5-6 seconds), but now it's like the exact moment I go to put my password in, it rejects me.  It all happened out of the ordinary, I left home for about an hour, came back, and this is what came to be.

    Hey there Jachin W.,
It sounds like you are unable to connect to your home Wi-Fi suddenly on 2 different iOS devices. I would be interested to know if the affected phones are able to connect to a different Wi-Fi connection, but barring that I would use the following article to help troubleshoot the devices and the Wi-Fi connection:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your Wi-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
    Tap and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
And this section from toward the bottom if needed:
Unable to connect to a Wi-Fi network
Verify that you're attempting to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Make sure you're entering your Wi-Fi password correctly. Passwords may be case sensitive and may contain numbers or special characters.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
    recently used Bluetooth accessories
    VPN and APN settings
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • IPhone 4 Version 4.3.3 will not connect to any app

Hey all,  My phone was working earlier today and now it has completely stopped connecting to any app.  The Wi-Fi is connected and I have the 3G on, but it keeps telling me there's no internet connection.  I have shut the phone down repeatedly and thats not helping resolve the issue.  Is anyone else having this issue?
    Thanks!

thanks! I googled it and was able to fix the issue! YAY!
Okay for those who are also having this issue : iphone 4s would not connect to xfinity Arris TG862 wifi router. I had a full signal from the router and my wifi showed in available address list but when I tried to log in and enter my password it would come back with a message stating 'unable to connect'
I did as Ed instructed above
On the cell phone I went to ssettings, general, reset and reset network settings.
Then on the router I changed the channel to another static channel 6
I was then able to finally sign on to my network!
I just hope that it doesnt log me out again!
    Thanks for your help!

  • Iphone 4 IOS 5.0.1 will not switch on

My battery went flat 2 nights ago, so as usual I went and charge the phone and went to sleep.  When I awoken the next day, when I switch on my phone it asked me to configure my phone by sliding to unlock it.  Once I unlock the phone it gave me the connect to itunes logo with a USB cable.  As soon as I unplugged the power cable, the phone completely went dead unable to switch on.
I went and connect the phone to my computer (Windows 7, using itunes 10.5.3) my phone went into recovery mode, and itunes returned me this details regarding the phone.
    name : iphone
    capacity :n/a
    software version :
    n/a serial number : n/a
I went and click the recover button, it reboots the phone when trying to verify and then went back to recovery mode.  Itunes then said they were not able to proceed to recover the phone and returning the error message (21)
I tried doing hard reset, by holding the on/off button + home for over 15 minutes nothing shows up. Tried to went into DFU mode and restore answer came back as the above.  My warranty just expired about a month ago, and I have never jail break this phone.  I went to the reseller and they told me I am required to pay another additional USD250 to get it replaced.  Please advise as I'm running out of ideas here.  Thanks.

Thank you for your response.  But unfortunately there's no Apple Genius Bar here in Malaysia.  Only resellers, which I feel that they are charging way too much in the first place.

  • IPhone 4 will not connect to 2008 BMW using USB?

Our BMW 2008 stock car stereo will no longer detect our iPhone 4 after updating the iOS. Is there a solution that does not require rolling back the iOS?

Thanks for the suggestion.  I did my research on BMW updates and it looks like they are only available for vehicles March 2010 and newer.  However, the BMW site says I need a Y cable for proper connectivity.  I'll purchase this and post the results...

  • I installed the iphone 2.0 and now iTunes will not connect....

after installing the iPhone 2.0 software update I get a message in iTunes saying that "We could not complete your iTunes store request. The network connection was reset. Make sure your network connection is active and try again". I have been trying for 2 hours now. The is now locked just like when I bought it. I can't do anything except make emergency calls. I called the apple store and the genius bar is closed because of the new 3g. I've called apple care and it says no one is available and to call back. I leave for out of town today and now I have an iPhone that doesn't work. What can I do?

I have had the same issue with the "Unknown Error (-4) message. I need my phone for my business! There is a blog that has been following this error as well:

One blogger there has been able to resolve the issue so far.
I'm just going to keep trying to activate until it lets me! They probably have really high volume on their itunes store servers or something.

  • Upgrade ios 5.0 wifi will not connect

I upgraded my I phone 4 to ios 5.0 now it won't connect to my home network. Talked to an Apple rep and he could not fix the problem. anyone else having the same issue?

Have you tried resetting your networks settings?
    Settings->Genereal->Reset->Reset Network Settings
Then setup your home network again.
I had a similar problem with Personal Hotspot and found that I had to reset my network settings.  A pain, but it's worked.

So am unable to get music on it, etc. Is there anything I can do? Besides reinstall itunes, because that did not work.
