Iphone 4s keeps requesting Exchange password

I have encountered a problem with a couple of our iPhones when connected to our corporate Exchange server.  iPhones (4s) were recently deployed to our user community.  During the initial setup, all phones were able to connect to the Exchange server via ActiveSync.  A couple of days later, 2 of our users reported issues with their phones, in which they were constantly prompted for the Exchange password.  The users would have to hit cancel repeatedly to, so that they could use their phone.  The users’ domain account passwords were not scheduled to be changed.  The users re-entered their domain password on their phones.  The phones were then working normally at that point.  However, I was notified the next day that the problem reappeared.  I deleted the users’ account information from their phones, and then performed an upgrade to IOS 5.1.  I then added the account information back to the phones.  Again, the phones were working initially, then the problem re-appeared.  I had the user create new passwords.  And again, they are still encountering a problem.
Does anyone have any ideas on what could be happening?  It's strange these 2 phones are the only ones encountering this problem.
Thank you for your help.

I am not really sure if this will answer you question in one part of you post you say you can download free apps and in the other you say you can't but I will give it my best shot.  Itunes (the app store) always needs up to date payment info either a credit card with atleast a dollar on it you wont get charged anything if the app is free this it just to back purchases.  Or if you don't want to put you credit card info in you can just get a prepaid itunes card.  Itunes will ask for your passcode every fifteen min. you can set it to ask for it every time you purchase something but every 15 min is the norm.  Hope this helps.

I have an iMac, and have a Verizon DSL account (3 email addresses). Recently, my Mac Mail keeps requesting the passwords on my accounts every few minutes, and will not allow me to send messages using Mac Mail (the message says that the outgoing server was rejected. I cannot edit the outgoing server, and the keychain will not save my passwords (the ports are valid). How can I change the outgoing server to send emails, and how can I avoid having Mail request my passwords every 2 minutes? Verizon, as usual, will not provide support to iMacs.

Is there an email saved in your drafts or outbox folder?  I suspect that Mail is continually trying to send it, and each time Google is rejecting the email message.
You can open the message and then delete it from your Outbox folder.  Then try removing all @gmail email addresses from it and seeing whether you can send to the other folks.  I suspect that will work.
With email, if an SMTP server *can* verify email addresses, sometimes it will and it will refuse to send messages.  If a message has to be relayed across servers, no verification is done, and you'll get a bounce if an email address is bad.

    Try a reboot:
To reboot your iPad, hold down the sleep/wake button and the home button simultaneously until the screen goes black and the Apple logo appears. If, during this process, a slider appears on the screen to power it off, ignore it and keep holding the buttons down.
Rebooting your iPad can solve a lot of problems. Once you do that, go into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and make sure the correct, new password is entered in that account.

There seems to be a few bugs with iCloud Mail at times, so send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • IPhone tells me my exchange password is wrong when it isn't

    Hi,
This is starting to drive me a bit mad.
I have set up the iPhone to do exchange, and despite entering the correct password (I have tested this by logging on to the web version of exchange using the password) I keep being told by the iPhone that the password I am using is wrong.
I have downloaded a digital cert to the iPhone from the companies exchange server website etc.
Driving me mad. Has anyone else experienced this? Could there be another password I'm not aware of?

    Ralf -
You are a lifesaver. I've wasted hours in the past two weeks trying to set my Exchange 2007 account up on the iPhone. I've been using a Gmail account to get all work emails, and it was just not very useful. I was so excited about this new software and yet so frustrated with the process. Several things I learned....
Yes, indeed, Ralf is correct, the direction of the slash matters, at least regarding the password. The iPhone does NOT like the forward slash, though you have to go thru TWO menus on the keypad to get to the correct backslash (the ?123 button and then the #+= button).
Another thing - it appears that the iPhone does not like having two email accounts on the phone. I already had my Gmail account set up, and was trying to set up the Exchange account with the Gmail account still active. A better bet is to erase all email accounts and start with the Exchange account. I'm not sure if I'll bother re-setting up the Gmail account for fear that it will mess up the Exchange account, but if any of you are braver than me, let me know how it goes.
Third thing - for whatever reasons, at the bottom of my inbox, there's a line that reads "4294867298 unsent messages." No idea what that means, but I'm pretty sure that I don't have 4 billion emails waiting to be sent out, so I'm hoping this is normal.
Fourth thing - when I synced the iPhone manually thru iTunes (at least when I was using the Gmail account), my Outlook calendar would download into the iPhone, and conveniently take a few entries (about 23) with it into cyberspace. The entries are still on the email server, and they show up in my Active Appointments view in Outlook, but not in the more useful Calendar view. Again, no idea how this happens, but I won't be plugging in the iPhone to my computer anytime soon. Hoping it doesn't do the same thing over ActiveSync.
And finally, keep fighting with your tech guys and reading these posts, b/c it turns out I knew more than they did about how to set this up and the various obstacles we would run into.
    Good luck!

  • IPhone 4S keeps asking for password when downloading app

My iPhone 4S keeps asking me for my password - over and over - when I try to download an app. I've noticed that when I try to download free apps or update an existing app, it lets me do it. But if I try to download a free app or even a ringtune it will tell me I need to update payment info, then goes to ask for my password, then it requests my password again and again. Has anyone had any problems with this or suggestions on how to solve it? It's driving me nuts!

  • ICloud on iPhone suddenly keeps forgetting my password (and other sync issues)

All of a sudden iCloud on my iPhone keeps forgetting my password. Sometimes I'll enter it, everything will seem to be fine and moments later it will prompt me to renter my password. This is extremely frustrating and has happened seemingly out of nowhere. I haven't been tinkering with setting or anything like that.
I'll often be prompted to enter my iCloud password when doing things that have nothing to do with iCloud either.
Another strange thing is that Notes, for example, still syncs correctly but all my reminders are gone. My iPhone calendar is blank now too. All of the apps are turned on in the iPhone settings. Everything on my computer is there, as well as on iCloud.com.
I'm really baffled as to why this is happening all of a sudden. Could the problem be on Apple's end?
This is happening at a really inconvenient time as I'm about to do a lot of traveling and will only have my iPhone with me during this time.
I'd appreciate any possible solutions because I'm about to lose my mind.

Sounds like you are not using icloud, but sync.me app. Why don't you check their support page and their FAQ.

  • Iphone 4 keeps prompting email password

why does my iPhone 4 keep prompting my email password, even when I'm just updating my calendar/other functions? I continue to enter the password, but continue to receive msg:  "Password Required ... Enter the password for the Yahoo! acct."

    What email provider is it?
I use gmail, and had the same problem when setting it up on my iMac. It turns out they saw it as some security risk and locked the account. I could still log in using Safari, but the mail program kept giving me a wrong password error.
I went to gmail online and followed the steps to remove the lock. After that, it all worked fine. I have set up gmail on many other devices, but for some reason it blocked it from the imac.
Anyway, just  a thought. Maybe other email providers to similar locks.

Error is " Cannot send mail-No password provided for "SMTP:[email protected] lLease go to settings and enter.
I have cleared existing password and re entered and still it will not send. I have deleted the account and still no luck. I am able to receive email as well as send form my mobileme account. Please advise. I am on iphone 4 3G OS 4.3.5

well they create a code lock for the phone for a reason... i think it's ridiculous , especially for those of us with very secure passwords ...
if someone finds your phone... there is a lot of private info in there...

  • IPhone 4s/ gmail using Exchange - password no accepted!!

Am after some help here and I know I am not alone with this issue but I am yet to find a solution.
Proud owner of a 4S as of yesterday but trying to add my Gmail account using Exchange is not working at all - I keep getting prompted to enter my password. I know this password is correct as I am logged into my PC.
When I set up my Gmail account using Gmail settings this works fine - thus proving I'm not insane and forgetting my password.
To add weight that this is a bug - my iPad (which is set up as intended) now prompts me for my password for the Gmail account - it has not done this before and has been running iOS5 since the 16th.
The settings match the ones on the iPhone 4 in the house which leaves me to think this is either related to my Gmail account (I don't see how as my Blackberry still lets me get access to my Gmail) or its either a 4s problem or iOS5 problem.
It didn't take long last night to find others having the same problem but I am yet to see any resolution of this and I actually lost sleep trying to think what else it could be.
Very frustrated as this works fine on the 4 in the house and was working on the iPad before initialising on the 4s.
    Please help. Thanks in advance.
    Sleepless in South Bucks

Same here - I have an iPad 1 and my work e-mail (MS exchange) is synced to it. Today I had to change the passsword (company policy, have to do it every month) which I did on my computer. After that the iPad asked for the new password. I entered it, but it did not accept it. The dialog comes back even if I hit cancel. There is NO WAY of getting rid of the password dialog. I practically can't use the iPad now as whatever I do, that password window comes up and it does not accept the password and will not accept 'Cancel' as an answer either. How do I get out of this vicious circle? I Closed mail and Calendar. But I can not go into system preferences to cancel iCloud, since that stupid dialog keeps me from using any apps. Any helpful tricks?

  • IPhone 4s keeps asking for password for voicemail. this is a replacement, and I never set up a password before, and don't want to

I took my iPhone 4s that I got for Mothers day of this year to the Apple store, because it would not activate after I restored it. So I have this new phone, did a restore from backup, and all is good. Except it keeps asking me for a password for my voicemail. Even if I am not in voicemail. Never had that problem before, and I did not set one up in my other phone, and do not want to set it up in this one. I tap on cancel and it goes away. But these little things really really bother me. I even have an issue with the iTunes Apple store asking me for my password every time I want to update. Sorry, it just bugs me. I can understand if I am buying something, but updates? And free apps? Anyway, if I have to I will keep tapping Cancel, but I never had an issue with my last iPhone 4s. Thank you.

For some reason I cannot post a new question so adding to this one.
I have the same problem with the voicemail password.  I have a voicemail password, I don't need to reset it - but I want to get rid of it.  Did you get a satisfactory answer?
VERY irritating to suddenly have to put in a password to hear voicemails.  What is up with iPhone?  I hope someone can help me.

  • Not again! MacMail keeps requesting my password and rejecting it!

While composing an e-mail, my MacMail began repeatedly asking for the password for my second mailbox (different password than for primary mailbox).  When I enter it, it keeps rejecting it.  I tried the password for my primary mailbox, but it rejects that too.  This is the second time this has happened! Yes, I'm pretty much computer tech illiterate!  And yes, I'm embarrassed to say I can't remeber how it was resolved last time. If anyone can help, I'll save the instructions this time!

Unfortunately when he ran Keychain First Aid it showed there were no problems.
When I finished phoning him Mail was still requesting and rejecting passwords.
I have a feeling that whenever it has happened to me I have given up in despair only to find that a day or so later things are back to normal, which would suggest a temporary problem at the ISP's end.

  • Outlook keeps requesting my password

Whenever I start Outlook  to check my btinternet mail it asks for my password. Even if I reinsert it asks again and won't send or receive email.
Only work around is to log into yahoo webmail then log out and then outlook works until the next time.
There was a log post which was closed as supposedly the issue had been fixed. Sorry to say in my case it hasn't.
I have tried various suggestions that have been posted but all to no avail.
Logged the problem with Yahoo Customer Care  but no response despite promising to get back to me in 24-48 hours.

Yep same problem here, not been working on my iPhone for over a month and has now stopped working within Outlook 2010 since Saturday.
Very annoying to be honest especially considering the amount of people with the same problem, been with BT for 12 years and this is the only problem I've had so that's a bonus
