Iphone 4s keyboard types faster after a hard reset

i notcied today that when i give my phone a hard reset my keyboard types faster than before....anyone else experence this or is this normal??

well it usually goes back to the way it was before the hard reset(which isnt slow but it isnt as fast as it is after the reset) is this normal?

Thank you SO very much for posting this. I had the exact issue with my iPad Mini after the same upgrade. Hard reset failed, computer would not recognize iPad. I had read all the other instructions and nothing worked.... YOUR SOLUTION WORKED FOR ME - with a slight variation.
I followed your lead and connected my iPad Mini to another computer, fired up iTunes, it saw the iPad Mini in Restore Mode and allowed me to go into Restore (yes, it wiped all of the data but I have a back up on the other computer that would not see it after the failed update). It installed the latest iOS 7.1.2 as well. I then disconnected it from that computer, reconnected it to the computer that would not see it prior and it then saw it as a new iPad and allowed me to Restore my backup and now it's all good!
I detailed my steps only because you downloaded the previous version - 7.1.1 whereas I downloaded the latest version (7.1.2) and then restored my back up.

If you need to restore your iPhone to get past a forgotten screenlock password or to complete an unlock from a cell carrier, then yes, you'll be forced to upgrade to iOS 7. A restore will always download and install the most recent version of iOS your device will support.

After a hard reset all user profiles are now accessible by every user

I initially had our office time capsule set up with 3 seperate user accounts ("profiles") via these instructions. Thus each user had a login for the time capsule that would then show them a shared folder that all users could see, and then a personal folder that only those logged into that account could see and access.
While I was out of the office a co-worker was having trouble connecting his new iMac to the time capsule, so he called apple for assistance and they had him do a hard reset. The hard reset saved all the profiles and all information in each folder, but now everyone can access every folder. I'm not completely sure of what steps they took to set it up after the hard reset, but now, no matter which account you are logged in as you see:
-"Shared"
     -(Shared folder)
-"Users"
     -(user 1)
     -(user 2)
     -(user 3)
So you have complete access to each users folders. Does anyone know if there is any easier way to set the user profiles back up the way they were originally set up by myself, or do I basically have to re-do the whole process (which includes saving and transfering all folders--which is a long process)?

The security of the TC is designed for home networking.. because anyone who has physical access to the TC can easily access anything.. it is simply convenient perhaps to have user profiles.. but a quick 1 sec soft reset and anybody can gain access to anything.

The Symbian OS is from the ground up based on Unicode.
A particular phone might not have Unicode fonts with all languages as part of the firmware, but they might be installed afterwards.
A hard reset might (and probably does) remove fonts from phone memory that are not in ROM (read-only memory).
A firmware update might restore them, if the fonts are part of the firmware update.
Otherwise, a firmware update might also cause languages to be lost, if the firmware has been updated to a different language variant after the phone left the factory:

Either way, it has nothing to do with the sim card.

Yes, that's what happens. Very inconvenient as you have to fully charge to 100% again before the counter restarts.

IPhone 4 won't charge despite restore, hard reset, and battery change

I have an iPhone 4 (factory unlocked, iOS 5.1.1) that is no longer under warranty. It has developed an intermittent charging issue. Every few days it stops charging the battery. It will show the charging screen but the battery continues to drain. Eventually after it dies completely, if I leave it plugged in all night usually it will charge fully by morning. Then it will charge fine for a few days. I've tried charging it with multiple cables, chargers, through USB on my Mac and wall charger. I've tried hard resetting it (holding both buttons down for 10+ seconds). I've restored the phone through iTunes. I've even changed the battery. All to no avail. The problem is getting worse and happening more frequently now.
Anyone have any experience (and success) in fixing this problem with a method other than all the common ones I've already tried? One small complication is that I live in Indonesia and can't just head down to the Apple store for help.

looks like going to the apple store is the only option left coz it maybe an issue with the handset and they can check that for you

im planing a hard reset, i have an icloud and a mac backup of evesthing but i want to do a hard reset and then setup as new because of the battery issue, the question is, if i sign to icould after the reset will it automatically download my pictures back from the cloud? Thanks a lot!

A reset and restore are two different things.
You're restoring the phone as new - so no your pictures won't come back to your phone, if you sign into icloud - maybe your photo stream pics.
You should import your pictures in your camera roll to your computer Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or Windows PC - Apple Support then after setting up your phone as new you can sync those pictures back to your phone using iTunes iTunes: Syncing photos - Apple Support
to get pictures back from icloud, you would need to restore back from your icloud backup.

2TB Time Capsule getting "An unexpected error occurred. Try again" error after a hard reset

I'm working with a brand new 2TB Airport Time Capsule and after I performed a Hard reset as expalined in the forums I'm not able to configure it any more. I receive "An unexpected error occurred. Try again" from the AirPort Utility.
I'm running Mavericks in my Mac and I'm not sure what else to do. Any suggestions?

Completely isolate the Mac and the TC from the network.. plug the TC lan port by ethernet to the Mac.
Factory reset the TC.
Factory reset TC Gen 5 or AE Gen 6
Unplug your AE/TC .. hold in reset and power the TC/AE back on.. without releasing the reset.. wait until status led flashes rapidly.
Make sure in the ethernet settings you have ipv6 set to link local and the dhcp set for ip. It should give you an address of 10.0.1.2
Open the airport utility, using the top menu.. File, Configure Other.
Type in the address, 10.0.1.1 .. no password is required at this stage.
Click ok and the main setup will open.
Set all the names short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
Set the TC to the right mode .. dhcp+nat for router or off (bridge mode) for bridge.
Set wireless to create a wireless network.
No luck then the TC is faulty and needs to be returned.

Looping after a hard reset

I have a treo 680. It started looping yesterday. I did a soft reset which stopped the looping but I still couldn't make or receive calls on my phone. Couldn't connect to internet either. I then did a backup and a hard reset. It started looping again, alternating between the palm logo with the progress bar, the orange palm logo, the palm OS powered by access and a screen with a bullseye. It all switches too fast for me to actually touch my stylus to the bullseye and it has been doing that all night. What's wrong with my phone ?

Have you installed any 3rd party applications on the Treo before it started looping?
Did you get the "erase all data" message when you did the hard reset?
Try a warm reset to see if you can bypass the looping. Click on the following link for all the reset procedures for Palm devices.

You may want to see if there is any debris under the frame of the Treo on the touchscreen. Take a business card or folded piece of paper, insert between the screen and the case. Move the card around the perimeter of the screen and see if there is any debris that comes out.
If you can try the ard reset and it stops the looping, do not sync the Treo without first renaming the backup folder in your username folder.
Here is the procedure to rename the backup folder.
Before you hotsync your data back over you will need to rename your backup folder, to do that go here;

*SOLUTION* After Install, Hard Reset

Hi Everyone,
I just got off the phone with Apple support and their servers are down. So, that is why you can't download!!!
But, somehow, I was able to download it through iTunes. But, after it installed, my phone wouldn't activate thus making it a brick.
So I called Apple support and they told me to do a hard reset but somehow I did a restore (MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP!!!), she said it still should work.
So it went through the process of restoring and I was taken back to the activation screen and I was able to get through it and now I can use my phone. :]
Just thought I would share to those who couldn't activate.

This is a significant upgrade and not for the faint of heart. I installed itunes 11.1, then backed up my iphone, then downloaded and hit upgrade the iPhone (v5). The install stuck with a 'connected to itunes' graphic on the phone and a failed to complete message in itunes (error 4005, which is not listed anywhere on the troubleshooting page).

Then I spent half an hour getting 'Apple's servers are busy and the phone can't be activated messages.' <sigh>
I restarted the phone and got a 'found a phone needing to be restored' message in itunes. I hit restore and it reset the phone to the original factory settings (except now with ios7). Heartstop #2
I then hit 'restore from backup' (and FORTUNATELY I had made that backup) and it restored my settings and apps, now on ios7. If I hadn't backed up, I'd be totally up the creek with anything since the last backup.
As I said, not for the faint of heart and I'm sure Apple's support is going to be swamped for a long time. I feel badly for those who don't have as much technical experience.

When this happens, your iPhone is stuck in sleep mode. Normally, you can alleviate the problem by doing a hard reset, but in this case nothing works. This problem can spring up from time to time even if your phone has a decent amount of battery life left. There could be any number of reasons your phone keeps getting stuck in sleep mode, but these are my speculations: a) overheating, b) overexposure to moisture/high humidty, c) software overload/app crashes, or d) phone storage at or near capacity.
You realize that the normal fixes aren't going to work, so here's how to fix it:
1. Place phone in ziploc bag in freezer for ~15 minutes.
2. Place phone in bag of dry rice for ~30 minutes.
3. Use another phone to call your phone (you'll notice you still hear a ringback as if your phone is on). Keep calling. After each call, try to turn your phone on using the reset method or simply using the lock button.
After several calls (or one if you're lucky), your phone should either turn on, or tell you to hook it up to a charger. Hook it up to iTunes just to be safe. If you're still seeing a dead, black screen, take it to the Apple store

Usually a reset will help. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. This can take up to 20 seconds if the device is unresponsive.

I have tried a restore and hard reset and adding itunes to another computer and putting it on there but it still will cannot add the ipad to the new computer and back up. I have an iPad (not iPad 2) and 5.01 OS. It appears that my iPad is not fully fuctional since I updated to the new OS which is when my ipad stopped backing up. I lost data too and some apps don't work anymore.

Have you previously synced photos to the iPad, as that occasionally causes the 'missing file' error. If so then try deleting the photo cache from your computer and then re-try backing up - the location of the cache, and how to delete it, is on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314.
In terms of apps not working, if it's happening on all the apps that you've downloaded from the App Store, but not the Apple built-in ones, then try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.
If it's happening on all apps then try closing them all completely and then see if they work when you re-open them : from the home screen (i.e.not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
