Iphone 4s Loses Signal when Connected to HDMI

Hello,
I have an Iphone 4s with the most current software as of today.  When I plug the phone into the AV adapter and then to the HDMI to the TV, I lose cell service, it literally says NO SERVICE in the corner.
If I unplug the HDMI, it comes back almost instantly.  It is a genuine AV adapter from Apple, I have replaced it as deffective once, and tried it with two different phones.  I have tried the AV cable with and without the power adapter.  If I leave everything plugged in and only unplug the HDMI cord, the service comes back perfectly.
I have a Samsung HD Plasma TV, it has Anynet, but not sure if that matters at all?  Does anyone else have these problems or thoughts?
Thank you for your help!
Robert

Some more information.  Tried two phones, two AV cords, and two HDMI cables.  I called apple care and they can't figure out what the problem is either... Not sure what to do.  I think my Samsung plasma is sending some sort of signal to the phone which is causing problems.  When I switch to a different source (the blu ray player instaed of the Iphone with AV cord) the signal comes back instantly.  Think maybe I should try the component cable kit instead of the HDMI???
Any thoughts?

  • Why does my iPhone 5 lose signal when trying to make a call or use cellular data?

    Hello,
I've had this problem for a few weeks now and it's becoming really annoying. Every time I try to make a call, or call voicemail, it takes me 10 or so attempts to connect. When it doesn't connect I get 'searching' in the top left hand corner whilst my phone try's to find signal again. I have the same problem when using 3G - it'll be fine for a while and then I lose my signal all together. This happens in places where I have enjoyed full signal strength in the past. I have dropped my phone or done anything to it to cause this. I've checked with my network provider, Giffgaff but it seems to be more of a phone problem rather than network.
Has anyone had anything similar? If so how did you fix it? I'm thinking I need to take it into my local store to get it looked it.

  • Iphone 5 loses signal when plugged in.

Also, if I'm in the middle of a call as soon as it is plugged in to the charger, the microphone and speaker stops working but when it's unplugged the call can continue as normal. Any ideas why?

The signal is really weak too. I have switched on field test mode and at home I get between -100 and -130  but even sat next to the mast I only get -91. I have checked the phone and everything is intact. It's very frustrating.

When in sleep mode iPhone 4 loses signal but when it's back on it searches and finds signal. iOS was 5.0.1, update to 5.1 but no changes.
Battery problem, anntena or motherboard? pleas help.

it could be a motherboard problem. Last month I spilled liquid on to my iphone and since I didn't have warranty for it I had to take it to a "phone doctor". He fixed it but mentioned that motherboard is working fine but he can not say for sure for how long it will last, and that I may experience some wierd problems. I'm having this exact problem the day I got my iphone back.
Well no longer but the solution still seems wierd. I turned on the "location services" because I saw in the "system services" screen that "cell network search" was turned on. I figured if I don't screw with location services, it would be okay. So, after three hours, I terminated the sleep in 10-20-30 minutes and 1 hour intervals, it seems I no longer have the problem but I'm going to sleep over it to be sure. Also make sure to turn on the "auto" option on the "carrier" menu.
I will post the outcome if I don't forget about this page.

Here are some observations and a suggestion.
    1)  I mentioned before, that the number of views of this discussion forum is fast approaching 100,000.  I suppose relative to all iPhones sold that is not a great percentage, but 100,000 still sounds pretty impressive to me.  Consider also that many people probably have this same Sim problem and are not viewing this discussion forum because thay do not know it exists.  How many people are REALLY experiencing this problem?  Who knows.  But I suspect it is more that 100,000.
    2)  To the best of my knowledge, Apple does not consult these forums as a guide to awareness of product performance.  It may be company policy, but most of the time when I speak to an Apple employee they seem remarkably unaware of the "Top Stories" in the Apple Discussion Forum.  This, despite the fact that my personal experience with customer service at Apple is excellent.  So, as much as we of this discussion forum are confident SOMEONE important at Apple is reading all our posts and taking them to heart...I am not so sure.
    3)  I have been told over and over that the best way to gain Apple's attention regarding a problem is to post a comment on their Feedback Site.  One comment about a problem is pretty worthless.  100,000 comments on the same issue, I'm guessing, will really get their attention.
    4)  Some folks have mentioned a recall to address this problem.  Although such a thing is always a possibility, I don't see it happening.  Why?  When the brakes on a Toyota don't work, or that Toyata starts to accelerate without driver intention...well, that involves human life and the stakes are quite high.  For many reasons you would see the automotive industry eventually be forced into a recall program under such a situation.  But, a phone APPEARS to not nearly be such a life and death device.  Or is it?  My daughter's iPhone 4S developed a "SIM FAILURE" on the same day her car broke down in the middle of the very rural area we live at around 10:00 pm.  She is 17 years old and was coming home from high school play practice.  You can imagine the anxiety I and her mother felt when she did not arrive home on time.  She eventually walked about a quarter mile to a house of a stranger and had to ask to use their phone to call us.  Now, I am not saying that strangers where I live are not to be trusted.  But, in addition to being worried out of my mind, I was not happy that an inoperative iPhone 4S caused my daughter to be put in this situation.  My biggest concern now is...when will my daughter's iPhone become inoperative again due to SIM FAILURE?
    5)  The more folks in this discussion forum who post a comment about this issue in Apple's feedback site the more pressing this issue is going to be perceived by Apple.  So, I like others, encourage all of you to do so.  If this seems like a lot of effort, I offer you these few sentences below that you could just copy and paste into the feedback site.
The link to feedback site is:  http://www.apple.com/feedback/
Feel free to use copy/amend/whatever the following as you wish:
    Dear Apple,
I wish to register a strong concern about my iPhone's unpredictable inoperability due to failures somehow associated with it's SIM technology.  For me, I do not consider this just a significant lack of convenience, but a significant safety issue.  Should I need my phone in an emergency situation where it is experiencing  a SIM FAILURE, I believe the iPhone will have put me at risk.  I would ask you to please give fixing this problem your greatest priority and effort.
    Sincerely, XXXX

  • SPDIF output is disabled when connecting a HDMI device

    Hello, hope someone can help.
I've got a Toshiba SAT U500 with Realtek audio driver. I want to send the video to the TV (via HDMI) and still send audio via SPDIF to the digital receiver. By some reason it is automatically enabling HDMI audio when I connect the TV, and on the SPDIF output (icon on Windows 7 -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound) a telephone sign appears.
What does that telephone sign mean? How to make the system not to disable SPDIF output when connecting a HDMI device?
    Thanx in advance!!!

    Howdy Gdad_Edw,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Take a look at the article linked below, it provides information and troubleshooting tips that can help you resolve the no video issue with your Apple Digital AV Adapter and your iPad.
About Apple Digital AV Adapters for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support
    Troubleshooting
If you encounter an issue using the Apple Digital AV Adapter or VGA Adapter:
Disconnect and reconnect the adapter from the iOS device and display.
Connect directly to the TV, projector, or external display using a known-good VGA or HDMI cable.
Remove any VGA or HDMI extension cables or converters.
Note that accessories that convert a VGA or HDMI signal to other video formats (DVI, Composite, Component) are not supported.
Ensure that you are using the latest version of iOS. Some Apple Digital AV Adapters require iOS 5.1 or later.
    Ciao,
    -Jason

  • Line Output From Audio Interface Mutes When Connected To HDMI

    Hello Apple Community,
As my first post to the community, I would like to shed some light on an issue I have found no answer to on the internet or support lines. I have spent a great deal of time self-diagnosing and over the phone with technical support for all devices in question.
    Problem:
I have no sound when connected to HDMI. The problem is not exclusive to HDMI, as I bought two Mini DisplayPort adapters (HDMI & VGA) -- neither of which resolved my issue.
    Hardware:
MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) - Intel i7, 8GB RAM, GT 650M Graphics
    Audio Interface - Started out with a PreSonus AudioBox 2-In, 2-Out. Now it's a Yamaha Steinberg UR22 (2-In, 2-Out)
Powered Studio Monitors - Yamaha HS7 (Pair)
    External Display - Vizio 37", 1080p TV
At first glance, it may sound like my problem is simply that I'm not set to the correct audio output when I'm connected to HDMI. However, this is not the case. With both audio interfaces, I double-checked that the output did not swap to HDMI when plugging in. Many communities believe this is a ground-loop issue with anything from my interface / speakers, to the HDMI cable itself. When I spoke to an audio specialist from Yamaha, he assured me that grounding issues were not the case. He said that ground-loops will only cause noise (hiss, static, hum, etc.), not a complete mute.
    Thank you,
    Matthew Morris

Okay, so Steinberg responded after 6 days to set up a call time. Three days after that, I finally received the call. Yes, 9 total days.........
Jeff from Steinberg went over all of my issues and went through a whole diagnosis. At the point where I got rid of the stock Yamaha XLR to TRS and used some unbalanced instrument cables I had laying around, the monitors worked! Jeff and I narrowed it down to either bad cables or (more than likely) bad XLR ports. I believe the ladder because the possibility of receiving 2 bad cables is less likely than possibly a single XLR port having a faulty ground or something--which would lead to the above issues.

I lose signal when I turn 3G on

the problem is and why you havent had any responses this could be either the service provider or the phone it could be either one! However the service provider is just going to deny it and you have a better chance just exchanging your phone to see if you can get one that works....
