Iphone 4s low volume in line out

I upgraded my iphone 4s bt there is less sound in aux wen connected to car. i tested my iphone 3gs and 4 plus nokia handsets and they are far more louder than 4s , can u tell what can be the problem

Hi. I've been through all of the troubleshooting tips before posting my question.
I've also got an iPad2 which I've had for 10 months and had already found that having the volume set low/off in apps like Youtube etc.. can also affect the volume for other apps or games. All packaging has been removed especially from speaker area and I'm using OS 5.1.1
I can vitually deafen myself from the volume I can achieve in ringtone and alert sounds and other apps like Music, Videos, Youtube etc... but I can't get a very loud volume when I'm actually having a phone call unless I switch over to "hands-free" speaker phone.

  • Play your iPhone through speakers with dock line out

I discovered this nifty feature today. I have some powered JBL speakers for my laptop that I usually plug in to the headphone jack. I saw that the iPHone dock has the "line out" connection and I wanted to try it out.
So I unplugged the JBL mini plug from the laptop and plugged it into the dock, put the ipHone in the dock, selected a song from the iPod, turned on my speakers and voila! My iPhone now plays through my computer speakers, but without the need to connect with the computer. Thank you Apple.

I tried this, too, and found it only works with the iPod part of the iPhone. I thought it would be a good way to use the speaker phone, or at least listen to voice mail. But, it doesn't work. Has anyone tried this successfully?

  • No audio from line out

    hi,
my audio works with internal speaker but nothing from line out when selected in sound controls. In audio midi setup, i do not appear to have any control on the master volume for line out, (its stuck at 0) i am suspecting a driver problem - May have been overwritten or deleterd when I tried to install Parallels 7 - now uninstalled
    cheers

What do you have connected to line out?
Line out is designed to be the input to amplifiers and not speakers.

I'm afraid you'll have to get the phone serviced, dropping the phone must have damaged additional parts inside the phone.
But Apple will not service the phone anymore, opening the phone and replacing the battery should only be done by authorized personal, not by users.
You'll have to look for a 3rd party repair shop and see if they can fix this, sorry.

    Hi bunjamin,
just go to BlackBerry World, and update all your apps including BBM.

yes, BlackBerry has acknowledged this bug in this article from the public knowledge base:

  • "Line-out" volume problem?

I seem to have a problem with my 2nd Gen Nano's "line-out" volume. I have purchased 3 different FM transmitters to use in my car, and with each one, the volume is so low that it is almost unuseable. So, I bought a $100 direct connect interface so that I can connect the Ipod directly to a "docking cable" that is connected to the back of my car stereo Head Unit (through a little device). Still, the volume is just way too low, even at max volume of the car stereo.
    Any ideas?

I'm assuming the JB3 works in the same way as my JB, which may or may not be correct.
I have never seen the message you refer to but there are 2 line-out sockets at the back of the player and a headphone socket at the side. The headphone socket has variable volume but the volume controls only work when headphones are plugged in.
The line-outs default to a fixed ouptut level - that is what line-outs are, a standard level of output for feeding into an amplifier. In the menus, though, you can set them to variable output so that they work the same as the headphone socket. Again you need something plugged in to the socket you want to adjust the volume on.
To switch to variable volume press Lib and go to Personalization, Line Out and change the setting.

  • Line out volume ?

    hello there,
iPhone seems to ignore the volume control when using the line out (base station)... Any clue why does this happens ? I was able to plug my previous iPod on my car but now the P2 cable dont fit the iPhone jack so I have to use the line out jack. Having volume always on max is disturbing

AFAIK, Line level is an industry standard (or theoretically standard) 'level'. Everything that outputs to line level should register on say a mixing desk as the same volume.
There could be one or two things happening here. Either the iphone's line out is weak and not outputting the right signal, or it could be the system's your're plugging into.
Line level connections are a bit like scart connection on yout tv. It bypasses the tuning circuitry of the output device and the tv to give a higher quality signal. Line level bypasses the heaphone amp of the iphone and often the 'pre-amp' of the speaker system going straight to the power amp. So bypassing 2 levels of amplification.
Maybe your bose soundwave has an internal pre-amp for the radio, cd etc which for some reason the line out doesn't go through.
I have a small Sharp HiFi (from the days when minidisc ruled) that has a seemingly weak line input. I've tried all manner of devices through it, but they are all much quieter than the built in radio, cd and md.
You could try either the headphone out like I say that uses the built in headphone amp to boost the signal, or perhaps look for an external preamp.
you could find out if the iphone's line out is def weak if you know someone with a hifi separates system. All the connections between modules are line level, so plug in to say the tape or cd 'in' on the amp section and see if the volume matches the rest of the system.

  • The lower volume button just quit on my Iphone 5

My lower volume button is not working on iphone 5.

Yes, if the screen is not cracked, this will be handled by Warranty. Cracked screen is Out of Warranty repair, and for iPhone 5 this will cost $229. For either, make Genius reservation or set up Service and take or send to Apple for resolution.

  • IPhone Earphone Speaker volume suddenly got very low

    Hi,
A week ago my iPhone Earphone Speaker volume get very low.I have installed to 3.0 and nothing help me out.
I think this is a hardware problem and getting to replace a Earphone Speaker.
Does anyone knows is this software or a hardware problem?
Its works fine over BT or earpiece.
I can only hear at very low volume.
    Thanks,
    Ivan

i just did this with my moms original iPhone. before the update the volume was fine, after it got noticeablly low. i could bearly hear anything. used the sim card eject tool that came with my 3GS and poked at the speaker very lightly and noticed it got higher. i dont get how its related to the 3.0 software update but that fixed the problem for some strange reason?

  • IPhone 4S low earphone volume - read this!

    Hi!
I have read a number of threds on this topics but continue to read this. I bought my iPhone 4S and was happy with it. After a few months I discovered that one of the earphone pieces (the one that the microphone is not installed on) had much lower volume.
First I thought that the song I was paying was the problem (error in recording), secondly I tried to find the balance between the left and the right channel (Settings-General-Accessibility under the heading Hearing). I started to slide the bar to maximize the volume first Left, then Right. In my case the volume was much higher on the right channel (microphone installed on the cord). To eliminate a potential song error I doubled checked the same mp3 song in another player and it worked out fine.
So, the last thing I could do was to buy a new set of Apples earphones. I unpacked them and then it worked better for a few weeks time but now I'm back where I started. Same problem.
I'm running iOS version 5.1.1. Any suggestion how to solve this?
    Regards,
    Jens

    Hi!
Finally I came up with a solution... Don't use Apples earphones. I switched to these and they are working perfect: http://www.jays.se

  • Line out audio line level too low to be useable, just started after update

I'm pretty sure this is a software issue. My line out level is so low it is not useable. Headphone jack still works. I removed all the audio preferences, cleared the cache, rebooted, reconfigured audio midi setup. I maxed out the volume, used the sound preference pane and selected line out. No improvent.
I picked up an m-audio Fast Track for now. Has anyone experienced this and resolevod it. I'm running 10.5.8...
    < Edited by Host >

I put my son's PPC Mac Mini in target disk mode and booted off of it. Audio issue still persists. I wonder if the digital out / line out switch has a non volitile register ? or it could be fried ? I booted linux on onthe box and used alsamixer
I saw the ES9168 (or something like that).. that's the switch right ? It had no value.
I guess for now I'll get an Maudio device for sound.. but I still hope to figure our what if this is a software issue or is it hardware. The signal is low.. I put my oscilloscope on across the speaker inputs while a sound was playing.. 25mv! It's supposed to be 1v. I don't know how they designed the line out, there is no schemetic. I wonder if what happened is the line out pre-amp blew and I am hearing whatever signal is leaking/bridging across.
Everything else on my late 2005 powermac g5 is fine. It may be 5 years old but I can render HD video fine, and it's been very stable so I figured I'll keep it till it dies. There's one problem with that though. I've got over 3000 pictures in iPhoto that I shot, and my perl/php development projects are on it, plus my family videos are all on it I server them up to the Apple tv. Ahh.. I guess I have to backup / archive to something that will be compatible.
    Well.. I'll start saving.
If you can think of any other possibilities let me know. I kind of think booting off the imac in target disk mode ruled out software, but then again the audio driver may be different from the one my G5 uses. Is there any Apple Service Disk kicking around for a Powermac G5 late 2005 model ? Maybe there's code on there to test / initialize the onboard audio.

  • Iphone 5c call volume is very low. Any suggestions?

My iphone 5c call volume is very low. While on a call, I can barely hear the person on the other line. It sounds like they are at 25% volume when the volume shows it is at 100% volume. They can hear me fine. I have tried resetting/restoring several times, the call volume is all the way up, and have even tried messing with the accessibility-->hearing aid setting. The only way to get by it right now is to have it on speakerphone, which works fine. This happens with every person I have talked with, even landlines. Any help greatly appreciated.

  • My iPhone 4 plays music at a low volume when connected to a car stereo

My iPhone 4 plays music at a low volume when connected to a car stereo either by fm transmitter or aux cable. The volume on the phone is full and the car stereo is full yet you can barely hear it. Anyone else had issues with this

I seem to remember someone several months ago having this same problem and I think it turned out to be the AUX cord.
FM transmitters tend to have low volume associated with them as well from my experience.

  • Decreasing Line Out Volume

I like to listen to my ipod when going to sleep. I have purchased two speaker systems, the JBL On Stage and Klipsch IGroove, and the lowest volume setting on each is sometimes too loud to fall asleep by. Is there any backdoor way to actually turn down the line out volume from the ipod? If I could turn it down by 10% that would make it possible to adjust the volume low enough for sleeping.
Note I have a 4th generation ipod with click wheel, non color, non photo.
    Thanks!

If you put the iPod in 'Manual' update mode you can then select all the tunes, and then get info on them, in the information window is the 'Volume Adjustment' section, you can turn down the output volume of one or all songs from there.
If you do it this way however when you next sync, iTunes will replace it with the one in your library, so do this step but do it with the songs in iTunes itself. Your iPod will have to be updated which means all songs will be updated, effectively wiped then replaced, but they will be at a lower volume.

  • Guitar audio drop-out at lower volumes

I have tried out mainstage on a friends macbook pro, to check if it will be worth an investment into Logic over Garageband, mainly as an effects emulator for my guitar so I don't need to worry about amps in my small flat.   I connected through an Edirol UA-5 USB audio interface and while there were some issues with this interface anyway due to the fact I could only use input-1 rather than the Hi-Z Input-2 that I should use, I wanted to check some audio problems I had and see how to fix them.
Basically, at full volume on my guitar it seems to work fine, but as soon as I turn the guitar volume knob down there is literally no sustain anymore, I can hear a brief note and then it just cuts out, no gradual loss just stops.   If I only plug the interface in without mainstage then the monitor channel gives me the full volume control I expect and I tried my guitar on a proper external amp and it seemes to be fine so i've eliminated my guitar as the problem.
Anyone experienced this or have any suggestions to try to get it to work.
Also, if I use garage band I don't hear the output fromt he amp/effects simulators, only raw guitar and I only hear the final version if I record it and then play it back.  Is there a way to get Garage band to act as a amp/fx simulator in a live mode like mainstage does or is the fact mainstage is playing back through the interface what might be causing the problems in some feedback loop??   Beginning to think an iRig would have been a better option......

    Hi
Sounds like you may have a Noise Gate in there somewhere?
    CCT
yeah I thought of that but couldn't see anything, and think my knowledge of what a noise gate would do is slightly rusty since I assumed that at louder volumes it would clip and at lower volumes it would be fine....i'll have a play next time I am over my friends and see if I can spot anything.
    Thanks for the quick reply.
