IPhone 4S - MacBook Pro sync causes multiplying events in iCal although no iCloud in use

Hey,
I read quite a few threads here as well as googled for my problem, but none of the solutions helped. Mainly the issue was that iCloud account was interfering with the sync between Mac and iPhone. However, I don't use iCloud. I just sync between my MacBook Pro and my iPhone 4S. So this is happening (it started probably after updating to iOS 6.1 - before that everything was fine):
Usually syncing between my Macbook Pro and my iPhone 4S was flawless. If I made changes in my iCal on my iPhone I could see the new events on my Macbook Pro iCal as well (after the sync obviously) and the same vice versa.
However, after the update (I suppose) to iOS 6.1 all the changes that I made to my iCal on my iPhone didn't sync anymore to my iCal on my Macbook Pro. If I added a new event on my Macbook Pro iCal it was synced to my iPhone 4S - so far so good. However, if I make a change to an already existing event in my iCal on my MBP and then sync with my iPhone again it doesn't apply the change on my iPhone, but creates a new event.
So, in most cases I change the time of the event, but instead of syncing the new time a new event is created. The same goes if I change the location or name. The time stays the same, but a new event is created with the changed name and suddenly I have to events at the same time.
Meanwhile my iPhone iCal is devastated with events all over the place so that there's no use possible.
I checked all my settings in iTunes as well as on my iPhone, but can't find any setting wrong.
I'm using:
OSX 10.6.8
iOS 6.1.3
iCal 4.0.4
NO iCloud - only iTunes to sync directly via USB with my iPhone 4S
Need your help, please!
Thank you!
PS: I read those threads, but they weren't helpful since always iCloud issue:

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Check which accounts your calendars are in, only iCloud accounts will sync. (you can use the calendars button in the top left corner of iCal to see which calendars are in which accounts.

  • Problems with iCloud, iPhone and Macbook Pro [Sync]

    Hello.
I've been sat down for a while now trying to figure out how to sort out my university schedule. I've had several problems occur, while they all seem to relate somehow.. I have setup my iCloud account with a stable connection and subscribed to my calendars for my 2012, Spring semester. My goal is to sync iCal with my iPhone so I can bring my calendar with me at all time.
    1. I subscribe and create the events I need to remember with times set to a specific date on a weekly basis. Meaning I don't want it to occur daily, but each week on a specific date.
    2. I sync this with iCloud and can see the calendar preview on www.icloud.com on my user account.
    3. I go on my iPhone to sync the device with iCloud and this is where my problem appears.
When I have synced my iPhone with iCloud it looks like something went wrong and my event duplicates twice and starts to re-occur each day instead of weekly (on the same specific day). I have no clue on how to troubleshoot this sort of problem and ended up creating my own discussion thread.
    Sincerly,
    Christopher
Products used: Macbook Pro, iPhone 3GS and iCloud.
Additional information: I have turned off iTunes sync, however the problem lies somewhere with iCloud / iPhone.

If it is running Lion or the upcoming Mountain Lion,
the following can be synced on both devices via iCloud:
-iCloud mail ([email protected]) or items forwarded to
      iCloud Mail
    -Safari bookmarks
    -Calendars
-Files using any Apple app that is available both for
      iOS and OSX.
    -Address Book
    -Photos
These are what Lion supports.  Perhaps there may
be additional items when Mountain Lion releases.
Syncing of the Messages app coud be added since
Messages is going to be added in Mountain Lion.

  • IPhone new MacBook Pro syncing problem

I asked this question in the iTunes section but got no response, so I thought I'd try here. Any suggestions?
I recently purchased a new MacBook Pro and finally got my itunes library transferred. I went to sync my iPhone, but it says that there are some songs that won't download because my computer wasn't authorized. So I did the authorization and it said it was already authorized. I finally noticed that the login email was an old, old email address. What do I do now? I didn't have this problem in my old MacBook Pro, and I don't have that old email's password. Any ideas?

    You're welcome.
You can change your account info including the email address per this link.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1918
But you must know the password for your iTunes account which can be different from the password used with the email account/address used as the user name for your iTunes account. You don't need to be using the email account/address to reset or change the password for your iTunes account to change other info, but you must know the answers to the security questions chosen when you first created your iTunes account with the chosen email address.
This is done with this link which you must do first. Just follow the prompts.

  • TS4036 My contact changes on one device are not automatically updating to my others. I have the iPhone 4, MacBook Pro & the latest iPad.  All are running on iOS6 and use Safari. What am I missing?

Contacts are not syncing on my MacBookPro, iPhone4 & my iPad.

On iOS devices, go to Settings>icloud, be sure each is connected to the proper icloud account and that the Contacts on/off switch is turned ON.  Check a similar things on the mac (system preferences).
Also, contacts are listed as being either in the "iCloud" group or the "On My Mac" (or iPad, iPhone).  Anything in the "On My Mac" (or whatever device it is) does not sync via icloud, only contacts in "iCloud" sync.

  • What setting will make sync make my iPhone and MacBook Pro contact cards alike?

What setting will make sync make my iPhone and MacBook Pro contact cards alike?  I've been having to key in changes to both devices because sync doesn't sync.

If you really are running Mac OS X 10.7.5 and iOS 6.1.3, you should be able to sync through iTunes, but in current releases you need to use a central contact service like iCloud.
Did you have it working and then not working, or have you never had it working?
Are you trying to use iTunes, iCloud, or something else?

  • I have my ipad, iphone, and macbook pro all synced together.  I receive all my emails on the macbook and iphone just fine, but don't receive all emails on my ipad.  Some go to Trash because it says they're improperly formatted.  What gives?

I have my ipad, iphone, and macbook pro all synced together, which generally works fine.  I receive all emails from senders in my address book in my Macbook Pro and iPhone, but some end up in Trash on my iPad, with the message, "This message cannot be displayed because of the way it is formatted.  Ask the sender to send it again using a different format or email program.  text/plain"  They appear to be mainly from competing platforms, android, etc.  Is there a workaround for this problem?
    Thanks-

POP: yahoo, aol, comcast/time warnder/road runner
Imap: google, hotmail, and more including icloud.
If you want to use multiple devices - move to imap, I would even say "exchange", but Google does not support free exchange anymore, since January of that year. So Ironically  Icloud or Hotmail would be my choices right now.
To find out more about what happens to you, search on Google "difference between pop and imap"

I have an iphone 3G & MacBook Pro. Recently my iCal won't synch from phone to macbook but it will synch the other way round. Any ideas?

Hi, have you been able to solve the problem? I'm struggling with the same thing. What is even more strange: When I sync from iPhone to MacBook it doesn't show the entry in iCal. When I then sync the MacBook (without having changed or entered anything on the MacBook) to the iPad the original event from the iPhone is transferred to the calendar on the iPad. It seems as if the MacBook transports the iPhone calender entry to the iPad but it doesn't show it on the MacBook at all. I've checked all the settings in iTunes, they seem to be alright, so I'm confused. It worked perfectely in the past.

  • HT5887 how to sharing data from iPhone to macbook pro using an airdrop?

hi all i just wanna ask about an airdrop. i want to send my data from iPhone to my MacBook Pro, but the airdrop doesnt exist on my MacBook Pro. thx a lot.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You cannot use AirDrop to transfer files between an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and a Mac. You can only use AirDrop to transfer files between two iPhones, iPads and iPods touch, or between two Macs. This is caused because AirDrop does not work in the same way in iOS and OS X.

Looking for a Dictation App for my Iphone and MacBook Pro.
Want to send all dictation to Word.
I have Dragon.  Should I purchase Dragon Premium or Dragon for Mac?

Care to share which OS you are using?
OS has its own dictation program.
Should I purchase Dragon Premium or Dragon for Mac?
Only you can make that determination.  Read the system requirements for both and read the reviews.

time capsule only allows 2 devices at a time as a router.  If I am using the iphone and macbook pro, it bumps the roku offline.  Any suggestions?

At a guess you have cable internet connection.. please confirm exactly what you have.. two public IPs are allowed by some ISP.. once you use up the two IPs, there are no more..
Make sure the TC is in router mode. And to get it working you probably need to shut off the cable modem.. if it has battery backup remove the battery.. try 5min off .. if not long enough try 20min off. then overnight. The ISP equipment must reset to allow a new MAC address to capture the IP.
If you cannot work it out.. plug in the old router again.. and set the TC to bridge mode.. which I suspect it is in now.. and plug it into the main router.. it should work fine like that.

  • Connecting an iPhone to MacBook Pro via TRRS cable?

Here is my idea.  I know this doesnt exist yet but let know know what you think.
I have designed a TRRS cable (image attached) that my TRRS headphones can plug into, which is then plugged into the audio jack of my iphone and macbook pro.
My idea here is that I wish to listen to music (via headphones) while on my macbook, however, I constantly get calls.  I dont want to remove my headphones or constantly need to unplug and replug in my headphone jack, so I figured the y-connector will solve this problem.
Does anyone see a problem with how this might make my phone and MBP interact?
    Thanks

Actually I am looking for a similar thing but 2 female TRRS and 1 male TRRS and saw your post while searching. I want to connect both my headphones and speaker system to my mac and still able to use volume control/mic etc on my earphones. The second female doesn't have to be TRRS but it will be easier to produce one with two TRRS females.
About your idea, it's also nice. I didn't think about it before and I am just switching the earphones to my mac and iPhone. It would be nice to have such a thing. However I guess you will have some issues.
I don't think your MBP and iPhone would interact during the calls since mic only take inputs. So when you are on call, MBP will ignore it unless you have activated the mic on MBP. But if you are using the mic on MBP, for instance, you are on a video conference on your mac and meanwhile got a phone call on iPhone then both devices will get your voice. This might not be a problem since you just want to listen to music on your mac.
But the problem is, my guess, when you use volume control on your earphones both iPhone and mac will change the volume. You will probably have a big problem when using play/pause/skip function since the signal from the earphone will pass to both iPhone and MBP and both devices will play/pause/skip and their combinations.
My suggestion is to add a switch on the mic channel. Then you can chose to use the mic/volume/play functions only on either iPhone or MBP. That would solve the problem.

  • Can't synchronise mails of iphone and macbook pro

I receive my mails on my iphone and Macbook pro. If I download the mails on my iphone first and I open them, they will not be downloaded on my macbook pro. If I download them on my iphone but I don’t open them they will downloaded on my ibook pro. What do I have to change on my settings in order to have the syncronized?
    Thanks

That's normal behavior for a POP3 email account. If your email provider supports IMAP, set the account up as an IMAP account on both the Mac and the iPhone. IMAP supports synchronization between clients and the server. POP3 does not.

  • HT204144 File transfer using Airdrop from iphone to Macbook Pro

File transfer using airdrop form Macbook Pro to iphone is working...but from iphone to Macbook Pro is not working, Why?

    Hi Brok25;
Thanks for the question.  The resource below explains the specs and settings that are needed for AirDrop.  Check the settings and look to see if your MacBook Pro is listed.
Mac Basics: AirDrop lets you send files from your Mac to nearby Macs and iOS devices - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203106
Sending files to and from an older Mac
If a Mac you're using with AirDrop was manufactured before 2012, you can send and receive files with other Mac computers.
On the sending Mac, click "Don't see who you're looking for" in the AirDrop window.
Select the option to "Search for an Older Mac."
On the receiving Mac, open a new Finder window and click AirDrop in the sidebar.
    Tips for sending files
Make sure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled on your Mac and your iOS device. Although you don't have to connect to a specific network, Wi-Fi needs to be on to send and receive files using AirDrop.
Move your devices closer together. AirDrop is designed to work within a range of approximately 30 feet (9 meters). If you need to send a file to someone farther away, consider using File Sharing, iCloud, or email instead.
If you're using a firewall on your Mac, you won't be able to receive AirDrop files if you have enabled "Block all incoming connections" in the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences.
Make sure your devices meet system requirements for AirDrop.
    System Requirements
To see if your Mac works with AirDrop, make sure you’re in the Finder by clicking the desktop (the background area of your screen), or by clicking the Finder icon in the Dock. Then, check to see if AirDrop is listed as an option in the Go menu. If you don't see AirDrop listed, your Mac doesn't support this feature.
In order to transfer files between a Mac and and an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch
your iOS device needs to include a lightning connector
your iOS device needs iOS 7 or later installed
your Mac needs to be a 2012 or later model with OS X Yosemite installed
Your Mac and iOS device both need bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned on. You do not have to be connected to a specific Wi-Fi network.
To transfer files between two Mac computers, you need the Mac models listed below with Wi-Fi turned on and OS X Lion or later installed.
MacBook Pro (Late 2008 or newer)*
MacBook Air (Late 2010 or newer)
    MacBook (Late 2008 or newer)*
    iMac (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Mini (Mid 2010 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2009 with AirPort Extreme card, or Mid 2010)
*The MacBook Pro (17-Inch Late 2008) and the white MacBook (Late 2008) do not support AirDrop.
For help identifying your Mac, choose About This Mac from the Apple menu. You can refer to the Apple Support website to find out if your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch includes a lightning connector.
    Cheers,
    - Judy
