I have tried numerous times to download the iphone 4 manual..no success. I can read it on my screen but cannot save to my pc or print. cannot even scroll properly thu it. I have tried thu verizon and apple both.

I just went to the Apple site and saved the manual to my PC with no issues. Perhaps it is the browser that you are using that is causing issues? I used IE (not sure what version) and was able to open, save, and print a few pages with no problem.

How do I get the music back on my iPhone after manually deleting it from the device (to get space for photos/videos)? I can sync with iTunes but it doesn't copy these songs back, even though they still appear in my iTunes library. I can click on the Music link under 'On My Device' in iTunes and the missing songs all appear to still be on the device, but they are not. I normally delete using iTunes and do not have this issue. This time I was out and needed more space to shoot photos and videos so I removed a lot of music from my phone through the Music App.

The songs I'm trying to reload on my phone are on my PC. These we had loaded into iTunes. I can remove them all from the library and then add them all back one by one I imagine. The problem I'm having is that I removed them manually from the phone, they still appear in iTunes music library yet they won't sync. I don't want to take the time to compare the phone to my library, remove from the library what's missing on the phone and then add them all back again. 64GB (mostly music) will take a while.

But, one little thing to share:
"There's an option in settings for Playlists. It was set to Music only. Changed that to All then found the movie playlist under Movies by selecting Genre."
This is not to be done in iTunes in your computer; this is to be done at your apple TV under "setting". "audio video" "show playlist" "music only/all"
I am posting this here because I started chat mode with Apple support last night at midnight till 1:30, they didn't know what to do.
They called me back this morning at 10 am.
It's not 11:40 they finally know what I am talking about and showed me where to to find the "music only / all" toggle. My problem is now fixed;
all these time, they have in front of them a screen shot of your questions and answer but they don't know where to change it from music only to all.
So, I hope this will save the next victim a lot of time.

Can't see manual after downloading several times from Apple. Somewhere else says have to get Acrobat to read. Have Adobe. Acrobat on Apple site is over $400! All I want to do is read an iphone 4 manual.

Acrobat Reader is free. Or try this:
1. Select the file.
2. Press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window.
3. In the Open With section select Preview from the dropdown menu.
4. Click on the Change All button.
This will assign Preview as the default application for opening PDF files. Now, if you downloaded the manual on your iPhone, then you need a PDF reader app. Try the free GoodReader app. Or you can download the manual in iBook format.

Configure iPhone for manual management

I'm attempting to configure my iPhone for manual management. (When I sync, 1 music folder of songs is not moved to my iPhone.)
iTunes will not recognize my device after I click on "Apply." Here are the steps I followed:
1. Connect my iPhone.
2. Open iTunes
3. My iPhone icon appears in the top right-hand corner & I select it.
4. Go to the Summary tab, select only "Manually manage music and video."
5. Click "Apply" and I get...
6. "Settings could not be save because Rick's iPhone not found."

Hi Kumar,
Receiver adapters that run on the Adapter Engine support system acknowledgments if they are requested by the sender. Acknowledgements are triggered when a message is successfully processed by the adapter or if an error occurs while it is being processed. Receiver adapters do not support application acknowledgments. The RNIF and CIDX adapters are exceptions to this rule, since they also support scenario-dependent application acknowledgments. Sender adapters of the Adapter Engine do not request any acknowledgments.
This means, JDBC adapter does only send system acks, however IDoc adapter is requesting application acks. Therefore as mentioned by the previous poster, you have to disable acks for this scenario using report IDX_NOALE.

Making an iPhone 4S manual backup to a MacBook Pro does not work in iTunes?

Hello.
I am helping a client's iPhone 4S (iOS 5) to back up his data to his 13.3" MacBook Pro (Mac OS X 10.8.2 with updates including the latest iTunes v11 without iCloud). We told iTunes not to automatically synchronize when connected. We did tell it to manual back ups from iPhone to MacBook Pro, but we only saw it back up iPhone's apps. Calendar, Contacts, etc. do not get updated on MacBook Pro's software. We don't want to synchronize. We just want to overwrite iPhone's data to the computer. Did we miss something or is there a bug in this manual backup? My client only updates his data on his iPhone and not the computer.

We do see iTunes' device and ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/ showing the backups. We thought manual backups did COMPLETE backups including calendar, contacts, etc. That's disappointing. The problem is synchronizing is that it likes to make duplicates which is quite annoying. We would prefer iTunes overwrite iPhone 4S' datas to computer. He nevers updates/add data on the computer.

IPhone 5S manual network selection

Hi all,
I have an unlocked iphone 5S and seem to have an issue with the manual selection mode. I was travelling outside my resident country and switched to manual network selection mode to choose my preferred roaming network in the foreign country. After spending 10 minutes scanning, the phone didn't come back with any results although there was clearly network coverage of my preferred roaming network where I was standing. I had to restart the phone and then surprisingly ios 7.1 changed the network selection mode from manual to automatically. After changing it back to manual, I was finally able to get my preferred network. However, there was another issue with this - after successfully registering onto the preferred roaming network and having made calls on this network, the phone for some odd reason switched to another network which I hadn't chosen. This happened despite the network selection kept on manual. Eventually, my roaming bills went through the roof due to this.
Can someone pls help out with this issue?

Just to clarify the original query.
1. I manually select, say, three Sweden when I'm in Sweden.
2. Just so we're clear, I have tried switching off and then re-booting the phone in manual mode.
3. I do whatever mail sending etc is necessary only to find the phone has flipped over to, for example, 3G Sweden, which is not part of the Three Group.
4. It seems to me that in the midst of preparing a message etc, the network goes down and the phone then picks up the next strongest network signal in the vicinity, even though the network selection is set to one network only. And therein lies the problem - the flicking over and back costs money.
Three.ie blame Apple, but why do I have a sense that it may not be all Apple's fault, that there may be a network switching issue mixed up in it as well?

IPhone 6, manual sync of contacts and calendar with Google?

I usually prefer a manual sync of things like contacts and calendar with Google, rather than an automatic periodic sync. I don't change my calendar or contact list very often, so manual sync works best for me. I could do this with Android, but with iOS if I sync contacts and calendar with Google, and then turn off that syncing, iOS wants to remove my Google contacts and Google calendar events from my phone. So I seem to have no choice, either auto-sync, or no Google contacts and calendar events at all.
Does anyone out there know of a way to manually sync my Google contacts and calendar events when I want to?
How often does the Google calendar and contacts sync get done? Maybe it isn't an issue, if it only does a sync when I change my Google contact list or Google calendar?
Anyways, I really don't like automatic, periodic syncing to a web site happening on my phone if I don't need them to happen.

I can help you with your calendar problem.
You'll need to export your calendar from google into iCal, and then start making all your changes to your iCal calendar.

About your contacts, I'm not sure I'd be able to give you good instructions since I haven't done the whole procedure myself. I did however, have my Address Books contacts synced with Google.

That should get your contacts from Google to your address book. Then, you can set up iCloud to have your contacts synced, and that should put them to iCloud. You can check by going to icloud.com and seeing if it worked. Then, I imagine you would have to disable the Google syncing with your Address Book (if I remember correctly, your computer will tell you it has to do this once you enable iCloud syncing for contacts).

IPhone 4 "Manual" clock issue

I've been googling about my bizarre clock issue but everyone seems to be stuck with issues on auto sync clock and daylight savings time and alarm issues..... but mine is slightly different and hence my new post:
Basically, I set my clock to manual clock and for some reason it will get slower overnight. I've tried this twice now whereby I set the time manually I had sync'd time a few different people making sure the time I set was correct. Next day my clock ends up being several minutes behind everyone. 2nd time around I even set my clock faster than everyone but again clock ends up slower overnight. It is so frustrating as I have normally relied on my phone's clock as I dont wear a watch. I recently bought an iPhone and for all its functionality it cant get time right? ffs... I'm on 4.2.1 and I hope I dont need to upgrade to 4.3 to get this fixed. Any suggestions would help. Thanks!

A P.S. my reference is always my wrist watch as I have several solar powered, "atomic" time watches that get their NIST radio time signal every morning between 2am-5am. I have my iPhone date/time set to "automatic", and while it never seems to be more than 10 seconds off my watch, it is never exactly the same, and sometimes it has been a bit fast and other times a bit slow.
I just think the actual clocks in cell phones and such devices are inherently not fantastically accurate - I have a 100+ year old mechanical pocket watch that keeps better time (about +/- 2-5s per month) than any computer or mobile device I've ever owned.

Iphone 5 Manually Managing Music on Two PCs

I have just bought an iphone5 after years of using an ipod touch 2nd gen.
I setup my ipodtouch 2nd gen when i was still living at home on that PC there and that had room enough for all my music.
I have since left home and now have a laptop, that doesn;t have room. I have also moved in excess of 200 miles away from the "home" pc.
I set my iphone up on my laptop and synced all the "new" music i have bought - you know physical CDs etc - i really dont do downloading. Fine. No Problems. I even managed to go through the hoops to create custom ringtones.
I visited home and thought "oh while i'm here..." and hooked up. Now, i'd been forearmed and forewarend of trouble so on my laptop i have "Mnaually Manage Music" Ticked and "Automatic Sync" UNticked. I did the exact same at the home PC. Lo and behold all the laptop music and tones etc. got wiped when updating to the home PC and putting all that music on.
Fine i thought - i'll just connect up to the laptop and re-add the manually added stuff.
Nope. Got back and the "Manually add Music" box has UNTICKED ITSELF, and when i tick it and hit apply - yup you've guessed it, i lose everything from the Home PC.
This is driving me mad.
How can i get round this? I'm due another trip back home next week and want to add all the stuff on again, but i'll not be going back again for months after that, and i'll be buying new CDs that i'll want to add onto my iphone through my laptop at a later date.
I've also discovered that when the amnually add music option is selected you cant "manually add" the ringtones back in. Any suggestsions for this as well before i through this bloody iPhone through the nearest window?

Because this is how Apple chose to design the iphone.

I hope that someone will be able to help. I am having great difficulty up dating my iPhone 4. ITunes will advise me that there is an update available. I choose the option to download and Install. Each and everytime I have done as instructed I recieve the message....that there seems to be an error and the operation has timed out and I must check my connections. I have done all that to no avail.
In Apple Support Communities I read a recommendation to Download ...." iPhone 3,1_4.3.2._8H7_RE Store.ipsw". I have done that but cannot work out how to install it on the iPhone. Can anyone help

Iphone music manually managed but music now disappeared

I plugged my iphone into my laptop as usually, transferred a song that I purchased. I ejected the phone as normal then when i went to close itunes it was completely frozen. I had to restart my computer. Then upon checking the songs on my iphone there was and still is nothing in there. However, it is still using the 10Gb's for my music. Anyone know how to help and what happened, also how do i prevent this from happening again?

Try syncing again, and if that doesn't correct the issue, try adding one more song and syncing yet again. Else, perform a Restore via iTunes. A failed/interrupted sync can result in content being mis-categorized (music/videos as Other, for example). A Restore corrects that.

Will I be able to still sync iPhone & iTunes manually after Mobile Me goes down?

I do not like all the problems I am seeing with iCloud. It seems to be one after the next. I just want to know if I'll be able to still sync my apps on my iPhone & iPad, plus my iTunes music the "old way" after Mobile Me. I don't want to lose things I have on Snow Leopard, and I'm thinking of just not doing it. Any ideas?

Yes, everything that you currently sync via iTunes you will still be able to sync after mobile me is withdrawn inclusive of your music, video, books, apps, photos etc.
