Iphone 4s - New 2nd replacement

Hello Everyone.
After the 2nd replacement collected today, I connected it to my IMAC as recommended by the Orange Manager to restore my back-up, and then it froze in a cycle again after the "Choose a Network".  Going back to the Apple Icon.
Booked an appointment at the Genius Bar on Sunday so fingers crossed.  Never happened to me before when I had the Iphone 4.

It sounds like the restore finished.
Try restting it: Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears
If that does not help you will most likely need to restore it as a new device and not from a backup.

My iphone 4s fell down on the floor and a very very small bit on the edge of my iphone were broken. Can I insert a new iphone body panel with replace the old one.. ???

I think I had it on the iCloud, I just changed computers and had part of my old computer backed up, where are the default iTunes info saved like the pictures and I know my contacts were backed up cuz I kept getting updated stuff that I wasn't sure about, but it was contacts where some belonged to my wife's contacts....but anyway, if the cloud backed up contacts, it should have grabbed pictures too? Like I asked before, if they were backed up to the computer, is there a default iTunes folder they are saved to? I had a crap load of pictures on there that I usually could really access if I was connected to wi-fi. I turned off my data stuff as I only have 4GB and between me and my 2 kids, we seemed to use up a lot of it. My son would play music from Pandora during work, and use up all our data til I limited him to only 3GB, my daughter and I barely used 1GB. Anyway, thanks to everybody that is answering. I thought I might have done good finding the dang sim card, but pointless I guess.
Ralph - F.Y.I. I would be happy to back up the iPhone if I could turn it on LOL......I am pretty positive I did, but what about Text messages? ANY of those saved too or not? Sorry guys, I don't know a **** of a lot about cell phones, but I do know about memory cards, but not sim cards that act like memory cards or look like them anyway. What is the purpose of a sim card if I may ask a stupid question since they don't hold any data from my phone stuff. I just hope my stuff comes back on the new replacement phone once I get it up and running. Again, thanks to everybody for the edumucation.

Not sure where you backup to.
ITunes keeps the latest backup only.
Icloud keeps the 3 last backup.

  • Iphone 4 New Replacement Charge Port

Yesterday I had bought a new replacement charge port for my iphone 4 and the replacement part that I had received was different from the one that was installed on my phone. Here is what it looked like,
    http://i.ebayimg.com/t/iPhone-4-CDMA-New-Replacement-Black-Charge-Port-Dock-Port -USB-Connector-/00/s/MTYwMFgxNjAw/z/yKUAAOxypthRnst5/$T2eC16h,!ygE9s7HLd7bBRnst5 h0lQ~~60_57.JPG
Here is what the original one looked like,
    http://i42.tinypic.com/2ce1yxi.jpg
Does anyone know where I can find the original charge port replacement that I need for my phone? I've looked on amazon and ebay and the pictures arent similar to the original one I've shown. What kind of iphone 4 do I have? As far as I know, Its a white iphone 4 from AT&T. Thanks for any help!

You ordered the wrong part, which is CDMA iPhone 4 part. You need to purchase white iPhone 4 GSM, ATT part. The color is not important, but nice to get right. The GSM or ATT is the part you need for your iPhone 4. You will also need to remove the mic cover and transfer over to the new part. The small black rectangle on the mic flex can be transfered also if you want. And the Home button flex is perfect?

  • Connected a new 2nd phone to my laptop and when asked to setup as new or restore, I chose to restore. Now thinking I should have setup as new. How do I change this?

I connected a new 2nd iphone to my laptop. When asked to setup as new or to restore from backup, I chose restore because I thought it would load all of the apps and their relevant data faster. Now I'm wondering if I shouldn't have done that. My 1st phone is my work phone and now my 2nd phone (personal) has my work Exchange information loaded in it and they are both syncing my personal phone number it seems. Maybe I should have set it up as new? How do I change that?

If you don't transfer the backup for your other iPhone or leave it as is, you must set up and transfer everything manually after restoring your new iPhone as a new iPhone or not from the backup.

  • HT1386 Where do you drag and drop playlists onto iphone in new itunes

Where do you drag and drop playlists onto iphone in new itunes

I don't blame this person whatsoever for making the assumption that the iPod portion of his phone would work similarily, if not the same, as the iPod.
But it does work the same as the iPod. As with an iPod, you can sync all songs and playlists, or selected playlists, or you can manually manage music and videos. You can also select sync only checked songs and videos under the Summary tab and uncheck the songs in your iTunes library that you don't want transferred to your iPhone. This can be used with syncing selected playlists - if you want to remove a song from your iPhone that is in a selected playlist without removing the song from the playlist in iTunes, you uncheck the song in the playlist in iTunes followed by a sync. There is no difference with an iPod in this regard except for the iPhone not supporting disk mode.
In order to manually manage music and videos with an iPod, you must select this under the Summary tab for the iPod sync preferences, and the same for the iPhone.
And if you resent his rant, why respond and waste your volunteer time on this post?
I can waste my time anyway I see fit. If you don't like it, don't respond.
And not everyone can afford to replace this type of investment on a whim.
    Copied from the OP's post.
Don't tell me it's clicking on the boxes next to the songs in the Library page, *because that's when I will start asking for my money back...*
Or the iPhone can be sold to someone else with the proceeds used to purchase a different phone. I haven't read any reports about someone having trouble selling their iPhone used at a good price even if damaged.

  • Buying a new Mac and try to save all information from iPhone in new iTunes, is it possible? how?

Buying a new Mac and try to save all information from iPhone in new iTunes, is it possible? how?

The easiest thing to do is transfer the library from the old computer to the new one.  Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to choose a library, then select the copied iTunes folder.  If this is to a new computer and you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music  then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there.  (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)
If you do not have access to the old library (and you always should in the form of a backup you regularly make of your computer and store on a drive in a safe place) and this phone has been synced with a different library you can backup certain items, then erase the phone and restore those items.  This will not include media not purchased from the iTunes Store.
iOS: How to back up and restore your content - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766 - "Learn how to back up and restore the content on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes."
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss.  To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • Happy with 2nd replacement, don't feel dumb

I am on my 2nd replacement and have been quite happy. I haven't noticed the antenna problem. I don't like people trying to make me feel dumb for having an iphone 4. I think it is sad that people are using Consumer Reports to decide their purchases. It is merely a tool to use. But in the end, each of us should decide for ourselves and if you are not happy with a purchase, take it back. But you shouldn't be making others feel bad if they don't agree with you and like their choice. So many posters here seem so upset and unhappy with their purchases. Return them and be done. I had decided that if there were problems with this 2nd replacement, that was what I was going to do, and I had told the supervisor I was working with that that was what I was going to do. But I am happy with this 2nd replacement.

    Thanks for the excellent post.
After reading many of the posts here, my opinion is that both sides should be a little more considerate of the other. Even the "experts" are a bit schizophrenic: on the one hand CR says it's the best smartphone out there, on the other hand they state that there may be a hardware issue that makes the reception poor for a significant number of people and so they can't recommend it.
There are those (and probably a majority in my opinion)who are having no problems (perhaps because they are using a case or bumper or perhaps they just get great reception and they're lucky to not have to use anything)They are trying to insinuate that there's no problem or minimizing the problem for those who are experiencing one. "Put it in a case" or "just get a bumper" is insulting to those who normally don't use their phone like that. They shouldn't be forced to do that to get their phone to work. They are frustrated and deserve to have a phone that works in a way a reasonable person would expect it to.
Yet on the other hand, there are those that are having problems who rather than return their phone, just sit and complain and insinuate that those who don't have problems are just too stupid to realize it. They rant on and on demanding a recall and making it seem that this is the most serious problem facing the world today. Personally, I think that if everyone that had a problem with the phone returned it, it would send much more of a message than demanding a response from Apple on a user to user technical support forum. Even Steve Jobs stated that whoever is unhappy with the iPhone can return it within 30 days with no restocking fee.
So there you have it. Those that have no problems should enjoy their phone. It's a great phone with fabulous features. Those that have problems should definitely return their phone and find one that will work better for them. No side is wrong. At the end of the day, you should have a phone that works for you and one that you're happy with.
    Just my 0.02.

  • Can an iphone 4s motherboard be replaced if it is broken?

can an iphone 4s motherboard be replaced if it is broken?

Yes it can be replaced. Apple won't replace it as the other reply to your post has said. But if you're willing you can try it yourself.
There are however a few obvious problems with this: (a) you need to have the replacement part handy and where are you going to get that from? (b) if you botch the repair and decide to take it to Apple to 'fix' it they will charge you more than the cost of a new one to repair it.

  • Getting contacts from iphone onto new macbook

I am having a problem getting all my contacts from my iphone to my new computer. I lost my last computer. I do have mobileme and have synced all my contacts from my phone to mobileme. In setting up my new computer, i went into system preferences to mobileme and put a check in the box next to contacts to sync the new computer with mobileme. it asked if i wanted to merge info on this computer or replace info on this computer with info from mobileme. i selected "replace info on this computer with mobileme info". it then said that i need to update contacts on Mobileme. It gave me the option to "fix later" or "replace". I selected fix later. My contacts from my iphone/mobileme were not showing up in my address book. i plugged in my iphone and selected to sync contacts. Still nothing in my address book. i then went back to sys prefs, and, bad move, i selected "replace" when it told me i needed to update mobileme contacts. IT WIPED ALL MY CONTACTS AWAY. i was thinking it would then ask me to replace from where, like from iphone or old computer. But no, it just wiped them all away. Why is it so difficult to get contacts and info from iphone onto new computer? And more importantly, is there a way of getting mobileme to revert back to the place it was before i wiped out all the contacts? I need to get my contacts back. All i was trying to do was get my contacts from my iphone onto a new computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Thanks for all the support with this. Now i know where to go for help.

  • IPhone. New Computer. Help.

    Hi,
I just got a used MacBook Air 1.1 and I have an iphone 4. I want to get all the songs from my iPhone onto my new computer, which already has songs on it. Everytime I try and sync the phone it says it is going to erase everything and replace it with the stuff from my new computer. This is a problem!
Just to clarify there are two things I need help with:
    1) Syncing iPhone with new computer without erasing everything
    2) Putting music on new computer (already has some music on it that I would like to keep) from my iPhone 4 that has all my music.
    Thanks so much.

  • De-authorizing itunes? Several of my authorized pc's have died, and have no way to deauthorize iTunes on them. Now I am unable to synch purchases on my Iphone to new computer with iTunes because I already have 5 computers authorized. What can be done?

Several of my authorized pc laptops and desktops have completely died over the years, and have no way to deauthorize iTunes on them. Now I am unable to synch purchases on my Iphone to new computer with iTunes because I already have 5 computers authorized. What can be done?

Deauthorise all to reset to zero, then authorize again.
    Following quote from Apple Support:
If you need to authorize your new computer and are unable due to already having five authorized computers, you can deauthorize all computers by doing the following:
Click iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes.
If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
Click the Account button again (your Apple ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.
Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than two authorized computers. If you need assistance on using this feature, please contact iTunes Store support via email (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/).
