Iphone 4s no longer rings just vibrates

I plugged my Iphone 4s into my macbook for the first time last night to sync all my stuff onto my itunes and i woke up this morning and now my text messaging, my alerts, my lock screen nothing has sound! i turned on the vibrate button and back off no good and went to the settings and made sure everything was turned on and no good i even tried changing the tone and even then it just vibrates. i dont know what to do and then i tried to push the volume up keys and it just shows the ringer box with no marks underneath it showing sound? what do i do??

Hi meg,
Try by restarting your phone. Press the Home button and Power button at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Silver Apple appears. See if that fixes your issue.
Also, make sure the button on the upper left-hand side of the phone, just above the volume buttons is not set to "Mute". The button should be pushed toward the top of the phone.
Cheers,

  • Why does my 3G iPhone no longer rings nor vibrates when receiving calls and text messages?

Why does my 3G iPhone no longer rings nor vibrates when receiving calls and text messages?
During a two weeks process, little by little I notice my phoe doesn't ring when I get a phone call.  So Far I have missed 22 calls that I am aware of.  Moreover, the phone does not alert me when I get a text message.  Sometimes I receive notice the next day that I received a call or a text message.

Follow the basic troubleshooting steps outlined in the user guide... reset, restore from backup, restore as new.

  • Hi, I want to have my phone "on ring" so my alarm will go off (have one set every night) but I DON'T want it to ring (just vibrate). It seems like there is no "none" option of Ringer. Anything I can do?

Hi, I want to have my phone "on ring" so my alarm will go off (have one set every night) but I DON'T want it to ring (just vibrate). It seems like there is no "none" option of Ringer. Anything I can do? So basically it seems my options are 1. silence the entire phone therefore also silencing my alarms OR 2. Leaving the ringer on low, putting all other notifications to vibrate, yet the ringer is STILL on. That's annoying!

The alarm will ring even if the switch is on Silent.

My iPhone 4 does not ring only vibrates. I have restored but no luck. Ringtones can be heard through speaker during selection. Ring volume is also set at maximum.

I had the same problem. I took the phone to the local tech shop and they replaced a fried headphone flex cable. Cost me $70.

  • IPhone 4S no longer rings

iPhone 4S stopped ringing - please help!!
Would anyone please help with my issue.
I've ensured the mute button is "off" on the side of the phone and in the settings
    I've synced the phone
I've turned it off and on again to restore, however nothing has worked
The phone only vibrates when I receive a call
In the Settings > Sounds > Sounds & Vibration Patterns > Ringtone - when I select a different ringtone or check my existing ringtone it does not make a sound - it just vibrates
It would be greatly appreciated if anyone at all could help me.

phone wil not ring just vibrate

    Hey bandit12345,
Thanks for the question. Have you checked to see if your Ring/Silent switch may be toggled?:
    Ring/Silent switch - iPhone
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/7/#/iph3bd01398
    Ring/Silent switch
Flip the Ring/Silent switch to put iPhone in ring mode or silent mode .
In ring mode, iPhone plays all sounds. In silent mode, iPhone doesn’t ring or play alerts and other sound effects.
Important: Clock alarms, audio apps such as Music, and many games play sounds through the built-in speaker, even when iPhone is in silent mode. In some areas, the sound effects for Camera and Voice Memos are played, even if the Ring/Silent switch is set to silent.
For information about changing sound and vibration settings, see Sounds and silence.
Use Do Not Disturb. You can also silence calls, alerts, and notifications using Do Not Disturb. Swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen to open Control Center, then tap the Do Not Disturb button . See Do Not Disturb.
If the above does not resolve your issue, see this article:

  • Iphone 4s, Does not ring and vibrate when there is an incoming call. It shows as missed.

Just bought a new iPhone 4 s and realised that sometime I could see missed calls without hearing the phone ringing. Tried several times with an other phone to place a call and could see that when phone goes in standby (screen black) and there is an incoming call the phone does not ring or vibrate. It does start to ring only if I press the round button. Has anybody experienced the problem? Can you help me? Thanks

  • My Iphone 5 does not ring, only vibrates, what do I do?

I tried everything and I couldn`t make it rings. To calls or messages.. it just vibrates Someone can help me?

    Check:

  • My iphone 5 won't ring, only vibrate

My iphone 5 won't ring, it only vibrates

    Reset all settings.
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings
If this doesn't work then I would try restoring the device.
Make sure you make a valid back up of your device before hand.
After the restore, set the device up as new. If it doesn't work after that, then your device may need serviced.

  • IPhone 4 doesn't ring, only vibrates, but speakers work.

My iPhone 4 (AT&T) suddenly won't ring when someone calls or I get a text, it only vibrates. The speakers play music fine, and I can have phone conversations and hear/speak to the other person fine. Also, the alarm clock sounds The mute switch doesn't seem jammed or anything, but when I switch it off, it doesn't show the picture of the bell with the line through it while vibrating to let me know its off. Also, the volume buttons get no response when pressed. Any ideas?

I had this issue as well but I figured out how to fix this issue by just reading previous responds, here's a way how I got mines to work .....
    1. Go to Settings > Sounds > Ringer and Alerts
    2. Turn off the "Change with Buttons"
    3. Lower all the volume
    4. After the above has been made ... turn up the volume using the buttons on the side of the phone. [Once doing it, you should start hearing your default ringtone]
    5. Once you've started to hear your default ringtone just continue turning up the volume all the way
    6. Finally turn on back the "Change with Buttons"
Now you can start hearing your lock sounds, dial-pad tone, etc.

  • HT1414 cant hear my music on phone only when head phones plugged in also no ringer just vibrate so i miss all my calls

cant hear my music or ringer or any tones only when my earphones are plugged in no sound when i get a call miising a lot of phone calls

So you're saying that when your headphones are plugged in, you can not hear your music, ringer or any notification sounds. Is that what you meant to say.
If that is NOT what you meant, then check the position of the mute switch on the side of the phone.

  • My ringer is no longer working for text and email notifications. Only working for phone calls. I have gone through all the settings to see where something is off. Not finding anything. I have tried changing the tone and it just vibrates on everything.

Ok so I happened to figure it out while on the phone to apple support. Even though the guy was very nice, I think I knew more than him! He was explaining very basic resolution principles I played about. I had the second option in displays resolution. All I did was unplug the HDMI cable, click on 'best for display' then plugged the HDMI in and my resolution on the normal monitor changed to the normal blue, then went black momentarily and then changed to a strange resolution but another window appeared that said SONY BRAVIA HDMI at the top! Hey presto! Don't know why it didn't do it yesterday - I probably left the HDMI cable in or something! Oh well. Problem solved!
