IPhone 4s no service despite activation

I received my Verizon iPhone 4s in the mail yesterday. I activated the phone using My Verizon. However while the website says it's activated, the phone never received a text message saying it was activated. It has a no service in the left upper corner. After several hard reboots and dialing *228, there is still no service. Verizon reps say its an activation server issue, but we got two iPhones yesterday. One activated fine and the other one did not dispite Verizon saying it has. Does anyone have similar problems or have a solution? I'm frustrated. Is it a hardware problem?

I have had the same problem so far as well. I got my new IPHONE4S today and I tried activating it. I called Verizon and was on the phone with them for ten minutes. Finally the customer service rep said that it's an issue on the network's end and not the phone?
Anyhow. Afterward, I went to the store and they said there is absolutely nothing they can do right now except wait patiently for them to fix the network. The store rep said that it's an issue with the West Coast? I'm not sure I believe her, but oh well.

You can't buy a new iPhone in the US without a plan. Even if you could buy one, it would not work (even as an iPod) until activated with a cell phone provider. You would have to buy a used iPhone that had been activated. Be sure to get a US model (or one for your country if you aren't in the US). Check the part numbers in the right column of

to make sure it is the correct version for your country.
An officially unlocked one from one of the countries that sell them would also be OK, but any repair would have to be done in its original country. It would have to have been activated in some country, also.

I got like the same problem, last days I get message to restore my iPhone, so I did it yesterday and it work very well. In the afternoon I saw that at top in the left corner show invaild sim card or so (only knew the german version). so I restore it again but now it won`t activate after I enter SIM-PIN and it accept it, it shows "No Service".
Anybody can help? My Carrier is o2 Germany.

IPhone W/ No Service - Can I Restore It

I recently upgraded to a 3GS and I have my old 1st Gen iPhone with No Service. It still functions perfectly like an iPod Touch (I call it iPhone Touch). However, I want to restore it to factory conditions. If I do this, will I still be able to use my old iPhone or will it cease to function. Any help would be great.

Ok, the deactivated SIM card is still in the phone. I'm just worried that it won't work and I'll have a shiny paperweight when I'm done with restoring it.
If I restore it, do I have to worry about the activation/connect to iTunes part?

Is your iPhone a Factory Unlocked iPhone or Locked to a Service Provider ?
Have you tried Restoring your iPhone by taking your device in Recovery Mode ?

IPhone 3G post O2 unlock activation

Hi there,
I bought my mates iPhone 3G off him last week to use with a new Tesco SIM only deal I have just got. However, the iPhone was locked to O2 so I went through the necessary steps with O2 to officially unlock the iPhone. Since it was my mates old contract phone he rang up O2 for the unlock and I asked if it was O.K to connect the iPhone to my iTunes when the unlock came through and I was told this is fine.
My mate got the text today telling him to connect the iPhone to iTunes and sync as normal which I did. At first nothing, so I reconnected the iPhone and it came up with a message saying "There is no SIM card installed in the iPhone you are attempting to active" even though my Tesco SIM card is in the iPhone. I've tried restoring the phone, but now I don't even get the activation message. Sorry about the long read... please help!
EDIT: I also now have on 1 bar of signal, where as before the unlock attempt it said "No service". Tried ringing someone but I get an instant failed call.

I think what it means is, after unlocking you should swap the O2 SIM for a non-O2 SIM and then sync as normal... At least that's what I did when I got mine unlocked.
One of the O2 iPhone FAQs says:
+We may not be able to unlock your iPhone for a variety of reasons. Here's a few common ones:+
+• We can't locate your iPhone on the O2 network. This may happen if you haven't 'synced' your iPhone with iTunes.+

IPhone 6 location services/gps not working

Anyone else have an issue with iPhone 6 location services/gps not working? I have had it happen to me twice where it stopped working for good 7 or 8 hours and then all of sudden it starts working again. For example, directions don't work, every time I open Apple Maps it will say "Cannot determine location", then when I press the location icon on the bottom left, it will try to search again and have an approximate location but not exact, where as the iPad that I have right next to it is able to pin point the exact location. Sometimes the location circle is pulsing blue sometimes its gray. If I am driving and have tracking on it won't track, and so on. I have tried to setup the phone as new without restoring the backup, when it stopped working with no luck, it still didn't work. I went and restore it back from backup and few hours later it started to work again. This has happened twice now since I got the phone last Friday.

How can I stop someone from receiving iMessages on their old disconnected iPhone, w'hich is still active in iMessage, when the number now belongs to someone else with a non apple device!?!

To further clarify my dilemma ....
A friend of mine just got a new phone number on her LG cell phone.
When I try to text her, my messages are going to someone else's iPhone.
The iPhone has been deactivated off the VZ cell network, but they are still using it on WIFI.
They used to have this number on their iPhone, and it's still active in iMessage.
So, when I try to send a text message to my friend on her LG, from my iPhone,
they instead go to this total stranger, cuz they still have that number active in their iMessage account.
This is a serious issue!!
The only suggestion I get from apple support is to have my friend get a new number, or for me to turn off iMessage when I want to text her.
Not really the optimum solution.
Something really should be done to prevent this from happening!
Strangers are effectively intercepting text messages!

Hello Guys! I hope someone could help me, Im having trouble with my phone's signal, I am not able to send and receive msgs, same as make calls and receive calls. At first, my phone is working fine (iphone 4, iOS 7.0.4) and all of a sudden, my text messages are not getting through, and I noticed that my phone shows NO SERVICE, I refreshed the phone by turning it off and turning it on after a couple of minutes, it worked. My phone is okay again after that, Im able to send and receive messages again. But after few hours, the problem came again. NO SERVICE sign is displayed again, but this time after refreshing the phone nothing good happened. I tried almost every possible thing I can to fix it but it doesn't work. What should I do.

These are the recommended troubleshooting steps to resolve No Service issues on iPhone:
Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings > Enable Airplane Mode, wait five seconds, then turn off airplane mode.
Turn iPhone off and then on again.
Remove the SIM card and verify that it's a valid, carrier-manufactured SIM. Also verify that it isn't damaged, worn, or modified. Then reinsert it.
Check for a carrier-settings update. Connect to a Wi-Fi network. Then tap Settings > General > About. If an update is available, iOS will ask you if you want to install it. If Wi-Fi isn't available, connect your device to iTunes.
Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
Restore the iPhone.
If you are outside the United States, please also follow these steps:
Go to Settings > Carrier > Automatic.
If the phone registers any carrier network, Settings > Carrier will be present.
If the Carrier option is missing in Settings and you are outside of the Unites States, please contact Apple for support and service options.
Set the option for Automatic to off.

It sounds a lot like your phone was hacked or jailbroken to unlock it prior to your trying to update it.
If that is the case, it is nowpermanently bricked.
