Iphone 4S no service international travel

Hi,
i bougth a factory unlocked iphone 4S from Apple in Canada.
Got a Bell sim card and activated it in Canada. Works perfectly.
Travelled to Mexico in January, tried to buy a local sim card from one of the country wide network. sim worked fine but could not get network. kept showing "no service" even after shut down and re open.
Now travelling in Africa (Burkina Faso) bougth another sim card for Airtel network, got the same problem. "no network" message.
the iphone seems to be able to read the sim card OK, as under Settings/Phone/SIM aps/ i got all the apps airtel provides with their sim cards.
i put back my Bell sim card and the phone finds the Airtel network fine!
What is wrong with my Iphone 4S?
Please help

You need to call Verizon's global customer service to get your sim card provisioned for use in Europe, or your sim slot unlocked:

  • Customer Service while traveling Internationally

I am currently on business in India and would like to contact customer service but am unable to do so through the 1-800 number. I have sent e mails through the website but have received no response. My inquiries are regarding possible international calling plans that would allow me to not be charged full roaming fees. I have an HTC Droid Eris which is not a world phone but still works here, apparently because of other CDMA networks here. I would also like to pay my bill for this month but am apprehensive to do so online because of India being known for very poor internet security and frequent credit card scamming. Any response would be very appreciated.

I am sorry to hear you are having trouble contacting Customer Service while traveling internationally. I have researched some information and will be glad to  provide you with a number you can contact Customer Service while out of the United States.
    CDMA – 1 908-559-4899
    GSM - 1 908-559-4899
You can also dial 908-559-4899 from a non Verizon Wireless device or landline.
I hope this information is helpful to you! Please let us know if you are still experiencing difficulties contacting Verizon Wireless.

All six Uk carriers carry the iPhone officially and micro sims are very common therefore
PAYG is very common in UK every carrier offers a number of packages but all commitment free

  • Some question about International Travel

Ok so i know alot of people have question about international travel weather is USA to Canada, Canada to USA or where ever.
So i just got off the phone with someone from AT&T these are my questions for them. i hope it can help, im confuse myself.
*1. I travel recently travel to canada a few weeks ago, when i cross the boarder i switch the data roaming ON and it picks up Rogers Wireless, a few days ago i try i again it said NO SERVICE is something wrong with my iPad?*
NO, consider yourself lucky u didnt get charge for that roaming, your ipad well not work out of the US unless u buy one of our International plans that AT&T has provided. The reason for this is so you wont have any unwanted charge or high charge on your bill.
*2. If i was to buy a sim card from Canada and pop it in to my US ipad well it work?*
Honestly that's something you can try at your own risk, it's design for AT&T so by switching sim cards it may affect your ipad such as running slow, virus, crash. You can try it, i dont work for Rogers so i know nothing about them, i work for AT&T so i can only tell you about our plans and i wont lie to you.(I THINK U JUST DID) This ipad is not unlock just like the iphone so it well only work with AT&T.
*3. If i pop my sim card out and put in an international sim card well it affect my plan at all or in any way?*
Yes it can, right now your on the unlimited plan if you put in a different sim card and then re-put in ur AT&T one chances are you're going to loose your unlimited plan and have to settle for the newer plan. That's why AT&T has reduce it's international plans so people are more likely to use it. It's a contract we sign with Apple, if u want to use in canada you can always buy an Ipad in canada and use their plan. (***)
At the end of this conversion i was just more angry with them. All in all she told bottom line is dont do anything stick with AT&T and pay for international plans. So i have to pay over price data plan if i want to use it intertanional? or i have to buy an ipad for each international places i go to?
Has anyone try or done any of the 3 ive mention and did it affect ur plan or ipad in anyway?
    Thanks
    Andy

Ok so here's a little more info
I called AT&T again today asking them the same question the guy was more helpful then the one yesterday. Even though he kinda told me the same saying that the ipad need to be unlock. , Afterward he transfer me someone from Apple. The lady told me
    1. The ipad is UNLOCK so dont bother trying to get it unlock.
    2. she doesnt see why sticking in another sim card from one of the apple ipad carrier is a problem. U would just have to sign up activated it like u would when u first got it.
    3. Contact phone company (my case Rogers) to see if they carry the mico sim cards.
    4. She doesnt see why it would affect the current plan u have now.
So at the end of all that she told me, seem like AT&T is just telling you, you cant do this or u shouldnt do that is simple THEY WANT YOU TO USE THEIR PLANS.
so with that i said i just want to let everyone know. I'm gonna go pick my Micro sim cards from Canada in a bit and sign up for thier plan we'll keep everyone updated if anything change or how it work

Only the carrier to which it is locked cna unlock it.  Contact that carrier and ask if they offer that service and if you qualify.

  • Can I use my iPad 3g service internationally - is international plan available?

Anticipating some international travel in the near future.  Want to take my ipad, but not sure if I can use the 3g service internationally.  Generally, phones require a special plan for international use.  Is that available for the ipad or can I use it in europe on my existing 3 g plan - would use it for face time, email, and internet?

Generally, yes. It's up to your service-provider and depends where you are going and which model you have.
For example, if you have a Verizon model, it uses a CDMA-based mobile technology that is not widely used outside the US (except for parts of Asia). If you have an AT&T model, there's GSM service pretty much everywhere on the planet.
That said, it's almost certainly cheaper to use a SIM (with the GSM models) from the country you are going to. You can get various prepaid ones.
For example, AT&T charges $15/mo for 2GB of data service at home, but $20/mo for 50MB Internationally -- the international plan is more than 50x as expensive as domestic data service.
A little research on the Internet will turn up some pre-paid data SIMs for your desitination that are compatible with a GSM-model iPad.

  • International travel tips

Any international travel tips for the iPhone I should know about.  I know to take the Roaming off,but anything else?

    Where are you going?
Ask you carrier to unlock your phone.
Get a local SIM card, it makes life really easy for looking up information/maps on the go. Plus, it's cheaper.

  • Should you choose Verizon for international travel?

Background: My wife and left for Italy for a bicycle and sightseeing tour. We arrived on  June 26th and hoped to communicate using the international plan. We understood that we could not use data due to expense but hoped to keep in contact when bicycle riding by using Verizon services. There was a problem with the activation of my wifes phone so I called customer service on the 28th. It was explained to me that there was a tremendous back log so after an hour and a half on the phone I hung up. Naturally I did not want to use my vacation time on hold with Verizon. The next day after a half hour the worldwide tech people updated her plan. The phone worked that evening but the next day it was in the android mode. Could not use phone for communication or for photos...not to worry the Verizon team would come through...On the 30 it was explained to me that the phone was inoperable but Verizon would have a phone waiting for wife when we returned on the July 9 th. The uptake was that we could not use the phone for communication or photos.
When I returned to United States I contacted customer service and explained the situation. Customer service was very polite but policy dictated...Verizon would reverse international charges on my wifes phone but not my phone. The reasoning for this request was that Verizon greatly impacted my vacation by not allowing me to communicate with my wife when touring and she could not take photos for three quarters of vacation. I do not believe that this is an unreasonable request.
The topper is there was no phone here when we arrived. Again tech services were very polite but policy dictates. I could not pick up a phone at a local store and I would have to pay $12.95 for overnight shipping. I explained that I thought this was unreasonable because it was Verizon's fault but policy dictates.
What I learned is that Verizon policy is not customer centered but profit centered. Verizon talks the talk customer service but does not walk the walk.
If you choose to Verizon for international travel make sure you have a back up plan and do not expect customer support

  • How to i m find my iphone country and service provide

How to i m find my iphone country and service provider

Where did you buy the iPhone? Where are you currently located?
If you are asking how can you find out the country your iPhone was
originally sold in and what wireless carrier to which it is locked to,
contact Apple - sometimes they will tell you, sometimes not.
Remember that the warranty is only good in the country in which the
iPhone was originally sold and is not international so if you need
repair/replacement, the iPhone will have to be returned (by you personally
or by you shipping it to a friend or relative there) to the country
    of original sale.
Apple does not accept foreign shipments nor will it ship other
countries (all of the EU is considered one country for repair/
    replacement purposes).

  • Just arrived in London, iPhone says "No Service"

I just flew into London and my iPhone says "no service". I am at Heathrow. I am on a corporate account and I was told we have an international plan. Do I need a separate sim card for Europe? Help.
P.S. I have not updated with 2.1 yet. I usually sync with my desktop at home. Can I update with my laptop? and should I?

There's a one time charge (rip off!) of $1.29 that goes with it. Without this, you will see the NO SERVICE status on your iPhone if you are abroad with the hope of roaming on other GSM networks. Defeats the purpose of having a GSM phone doesnt it? Pfft!
GSM does not guarantee roaming. GSM is simply a set of features.
As for the whopping $1.29, it would seem if you can afford the airfare that should not be a problem.

Hello Apple ! I have in Iphone 5 16GB WHITE and it have a problem so I send my iphone to a service from my country and they sad that I made a unauthorized intervention  and it is not true, this phone was nerver open , the seals was open by the service  .I think  they try to cheating me because when I spoke with them , they answer me very ugly and unpolite and they sad me that they made what they want. So can I sand my iphone to a service from another country  because I want to know that they will say the same  thing ?I have international guarantee. Answer me soon and thank you for help!

If you can find out what country your iPhone was officially sold in, you could take it there (or if originally sold in the EU, take it to any EU country where Apple officially sells the iPhone) or you could send the iPhone to someone you know in that country who could get it serviced and then ship it back to you. Apple Support does not accept shipments from other countries, and will not ship a serviced iPhone to another country.
This, though, presumes that the iPhone has not been modified as your service provider claimed. If it has, Apple will not provide service for it in any country.
You may be able to find out what country your iPhone was officially sold in by calling Apple Support:

and giving them the serial number.
    Regards.

  • IPhone 6 warranty services

Need some help with iPhone 6 warranty services. Bought an iPhone 6 at the Apple Store in Maryland. The store manager specifically told me then that the product came with a global warranty coverage. He further explained that, except to return the product for a refund which will need to be at an Apple Store in the United States, all other services would be provided anywhere in the world including exchanges and repairs. When I brought the iPhone 6 to China and found out that it had a defective screen, it was brought to the Apple Store in Beijing. However, the store refused to do anything!!! Please help.

The warranty is not international. You'll have to return the phone to the US and have someone take the phone in to be serviced.

  • IPhone 3GS "no service" after flying cross country

Showing up first while I on a recent trip from Dallas to Cleveland, my iPhone 3GS has since often had a "no service" message in the upper left corner of the screen so that I can't receive or make phone calls. It's also sometimes having trouble getting a connection for Words With Friends, and Messages and Voice Mail often have a big red dot on one corner instead of a red dot with a number inside, along with the message that I don't have a connection.
A Genius told me it's not uncommon for iPhones to get confused after travelling across time zones, and he recommended that I Reset Network Settings. That didn't work, so I Reset All Settings, then, because I'd already tried restoring from a back-up, I did an Erase All Content and Settings and synced again to get all my media and such back on the phone. Nothing seems to be fixing all the problems at the same time.

i do not really know if it was jailbroken in the past i brought this iphone from a friend and it work perfectly on ios 5.1.1 and it was not jailbroken when i first used it. the problem i do not understand is that the no service problem never occured before the update to ios 6.1.3  . is there any way to fix this problem? because i would like to continue using my iphone 3gs
I have tried to downgrade to an older version of ios using an ipsw but still the same problem
