IPhone 4s not showing up in iPhoto 11

Recently my daughters MB died.  So I tried to backup her iPhone photos to my Mac Mini Server iPhoto 11.  It showed up in iPhoto and wouldn't let me download the images.  So I tried using image capture.  The phone showed up but it still didn't work.
Now when I plug in my iPhone 4s into the Mac Mini Server it doesn't show up in iPhoto or image capture.  All that shows up is my daughters phone in both places.
Any idea whats going on or how to fix this?

I was having this issue with my iPhone and iPad, too- not showing up in iTunes via WLAN
I was able to get the iOS devices to connect wirelessly to iTunes again, and to appear in the devices section, simply by using the remote app on each device to connect to my library.
As soon as I made a connection from remote app on each device, it reappeared in the iTunes and began to sync as it normally does.
I hope this works and is helpful for others.

  • IPhone 4 not showing up in iPhoto

Hello All - I recently got a new iMac and a new iPhone 4 so it's been difficult for me to troubleshoot this problem. I got my iphone 4 to show up in iPhoto yesterday but I don't know how, it just popped up after awhile. [I opened iPhoto with phone plugged in, opened iphoto with phone unplugged, unplugged phone with iphoto in, etc. - I tried all options].
Anyone else having this problem?? All my specs are included in my profile. Any help would be much appreciated!!!

I had a similar problem on my 2009 MacBook Pro running 10.7.2, iPhone 4S and iPhone '11 (both of which had the most recent updates as at the time of this post): my iPhone was appearing and working correctly in iTunes, but was not appearing in iPhoto or Image Capture. I had >1000 photos on the camera roll, including some saved from Safari and emails etc.
The following fix worked for me: unplugged external monitor. Voila. That's it. So, in troubleshooting this problem, I recommend that others try unplugging _all_ other peripherals before connecting their iPhone.

  • Iphone photos not showing up on iphoto

    Hello,
Camera roll is about 4.4GB, and I want to save my pics to the mac pro.
    Problem:
First, I connect usb to mac book pro and :
    1. Iphoto shows iphone 5 yet displays 'loading' message. No photos are uploaded.
    2. Image capture also shows iphone 5, yet no files are displayed.
Second, icloud seems to have uploaded some of the recent pictures so I have them saved. Yet the old ones are still in my iphone.
Does anyone have similar issues? would appreciate some input.
    Thank you,
    Will

    Same problem.
After USB is connected, iPhoto shows iPhone name with "(0)" photos.
Same whether iPhoto is open or closed before USB is connected.
Same whether iPhone is on or off when USB is connected.
    Rebooting iPhone did not help.
    Relaunching iPhoto did not help.
    Rebooting Mac did not help.

  • Iphone 4 not showing up in Iphoto 11

I just did the update to Iphoto 11 and now my Iphone isn't showing up. I can't import my photos. Any advice?

Good to hear that you are now seeing the iPhoto videos in the Events Library - thank you for letting us know.
Each time iMovie is opened it will look for any new video clips in your iPhoto Library. If any are found, iMovie will ask if you want to generate thumbnails now or leave until later. I always let iMovie generate the thumbnails, rather than deferring it, as it doesn't take very long for these incremental updates. Yours took over 1 hour because it was possibly the first time iMovie had worked through the process.
You may wish to consider importing your video directly to iMovie Events, rather than first importing to iPhoto. It's more efficient to work with normal Events than with the iPhoto Videos Event, mainly in regard to organizing the Events Library. But then again, you may have a particular reason for importing video to iPhoto, rather than simply using iMovie for all your video.
EDIT: I mainly import iPhone video clips to iPhoto - just those sent to me by my daughter. It is a handy place to keep stuff that you haven't shot yourself, and which doesn't require editing. I've set mine up in iPhoto in a Smart Folder named Movies.

It will show up, when connected directly by USB as a camera.

  • Pics from iPhone 5 not showing up in photostream in iPhoto using icloud.  suggestions?

I have taken a couple of pics with my iPhone 5 and they're not showing up in iPhoto on my mac.  I've signed up for iCloud and it's enabled.  I've gone into "system preferences" and made sure iCloud is on, and PhotoStream is also.  I've gone under iPhoto preferences to make sure everything is checked.  It's also under settings in my phone...all checked and turned on there too.  I thought when you took a pic with your phone they were supposed to show up in Photo Stream in your iPhoto on your Mac automatically, without needing to sync.  What am I doing wrong?

    OK.
First try a Restart of your Mac... and...
    For the Phone...Try This...
Close All Open Apps...  Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

  • New iPhone photos not showing up on new Photos app on iMac

In the past, when I took a photo on my iPhone, within moments it would show up on Aperture on my iMac in the iCloud tab.  This is not happening on the new Photos app on my iMac using the latest OS.
In fact, there is not an "iCloud' stream area within the Photos app. Also, under iCloud system preferences, I have selected "iCloud Photo Library, My Photo Stream, and iCloud Photo Sharing."
Not sure what I'm doing wrong here.

  • New iMovie app for iPhone 4 not showing up in Location Services (Settings)

iMovie app for iPhone 4 not showing up in Location Services (Settings). It apprently needs to be both viaible and turned on in Settings/General/Location Services in order for the app to discover previously taken video (Location Services correctly recognizes other apps of mine that utilize location-aware services).
I think the following is related to and caused by this problem above: iMovie App for iPhone 4 is not recognizing video clips I have made, whether they're in Photo Album, or iPhone 4 native movies that have been throughout this process: [sync with iPhoto on Mac > save to to iPhoto album > sync album to iPhone 4].

Just had this same problem. The solution is to turn Location Services on before launching iPhone iMovie.
Yes, iMovie needing GPS coordinates is crazy, as is the error message that doesn't correctly explain the problem. Looks like a bit of a rush job.

  • Iphone is not showing in Itunes.

Since I updated to Leopard, my iPhone is not showing any longer in iTunes. I still see the iPhone in every other application, like iPhoto. Is there a way to fix this?

You might need to remove and reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service. Check out this article:

Yes it is done through iTunes. The iPhone will never show up in Finder as a device. The following is general information on iTunes sync: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386 and the following is a previous discussion where the post by Andreas Junge helped others that had a problem syncing audiobooks: https://discussions.apple.com/message/20052732#20052732

  • After migrating data from Time Machine, some of my photos are not showing up in iPhoto. I get a 'dashed rectangle." When I click on it I get ' ! in a Triangle" When I click on that, I actually can see the photo. I want to see my photos

After migrating data from Time Machine, some of my photos are not showing up in iPhoto LIbrary view. I get a 'dashed rectangle." When I click on it I get ' ! in a Triangle" When I click on that, I actually can see the photo. I want to see all  my photos in 'Library' view, and I can't figure out how these photos seem to be arbitrarily hidden. Help, please.

Try these for the first attempt:
First be sure to have a backup copy of the library if you already don't have one.

  • HT1386 I am trying to sync my iphone with my laptop using itunes.  Items that I enter on my laptop (Windows Outlook) show up on my iphone.  But items that I enter on iphone do not show up in Outlook.  How do I fix this?

I purchased an iphone 4 in July 2012.  I set it up to synch with Windows Outlook on my 2009 HP laptop computer (Windows 7).  This seemed to work fine.
A few weeks ago, I was notified that my itunes or iphone software needed updating.  With my iphone plugged into my computer, I performed the update.  When it was over, I had an error message on my iphone indicating that it needed to be reset.  I did this and there was no information on my iphone.  I then synched with the laptop and everything appeared to be restored.
HOWEVER, now when I synch, items that I enter on my laptop show up on my iphone BUT items that I enter on my iphone do NOT show up on my laptop.  How do I fix this?

All content bought/downloaded from iTunes is tied to the account that downloaded it and it can't be transferred to a different account - so you will need to authorise your old account on that computer if you want to transfer its purchases over.
