IPhone 4S on AT&T - texting issues

I'm one of those guys that is having texting problems with the iPhone 4S. I can't send or receive anything. It seems that most people have problems because of the new cap on texting data. However, mine does not say it is full or anything like that. Also, when I send texts, they seem to go but no one actually receives them. I cannot send group or mms messages. I have restored from a back up and as a new phone. Neither has worked. I've also reset my network settings and done multiple hard resets. I don't know what else to do. The only thing that is working is iMessage. It's getting kind of annoying that I can't send or receive and texts so if there aren't any new suggestions I guess I'll take my phone back to AT&T to see if they can help. Thanks in advance.

My wife is having the same issue, *exactly* as you describe it, with her iPhone 4s on AT&T. It's ridiculous, and so far AT&T tech support is totally unhelpful.

Iphone 4 not receiving photo text messages - would welcome your thoughts

Iphone 4 is receiving word texts but not photo texts - set up with MMS not imessage. Would welcome your thoughts.

Initially it sounds like something with your backup data caused the issue with your new device but if you restored your device again without using the backup and the issue still exists it wouldn't appear to be the issue at all. Since the problem seems to only be with one person are you sure it's not an issue on their end and with their network that is stopping you from receiving the messages? Have you tried *228 option 2 to see if that helps?

Help! New iphone 3g not sending/recieving text messages or email!!!

Hey guys. I just got myself a 3g iphone today and im already havin issues with it. I updated to 3.1.2 right off the bat.
Well it seems that i can send email, but that seems to be about it. I can not send or recieve text messages. I can recieve email, but it will not notify me when I get a new email. The only way i can find out if i have a new email is by opening the mailbox and waiting for it to refresh.
Isnt this thing suposed to push my emails and notify me as soon as they are sent? How do i get this and my text messaging working? This is so disapointing since my wife just got a $10 phone that worked flawlesly right out of the box.

First off, Reset your iPhone. Hold down the sleep and home buttons, ignore the off slider, wait for the Apple logo to appear then let the buttons go. After it resets try to send a text message again. If it does not work there is probably an issue with your carrier and you will have to contact them.
As far as mail, do you have a MobileMe, Yahoo push, GMail push, or Exchange mail account? Because these are the only ones that will Push your mail to the iPhone. If you do have one of these make sure Push is turned on in the Mail settings. If you don't have one of these you can go to the Mail settings and specifying a mail Fetch period.

Most iPhone user's cannot receive text from me and my NEW Note 4

I chose to try the pre-installed +Messenger app from Verizon to be used rather than the fuctional default messenger. It wasn't what I expected so I switched back to the original message app. Well, that's when the issue's began with most of my contacts who use Iphone's.
I would send text to iPhone user's with no delivered confirmation text being returned as a notification. So I called them and they said they didn't receive a text. I realized the problem was a conflict with going back to the original messaging app/software.
Went to the Verizon store where I purchased the phone three times! The first salesman told me to have the iPhone user's to go into their text settings and turn on "Send MMS". That didn't resolve the issue. The second salesman called tech support and fixed the problem. Although I didn't know was done but, it was apparently a temporary fixed because it continued to happen
The 3rd salesman had to reset to factory settings and disabled/removed the +Messenger app from Verizon.
Still experiencing this stressful issue with my Note4.

Sorry to hear that! I tend to use the default Messages app more than anything else too.
I'm curious about your issue because you said "most iPhone users..." That can make the situation a little bit tricky, but it can also be used to your advantage, because if you compare the messaging/cellular settings on one iPhone that works and one that doesn't, you will likely find your resolution. I'd suggest looking at an iPhone that doesn't receive your messages and try to make the settings match the settings of an iPhone that successfully receives your texts.
Since it only happens with iPhone users the problem is likely not on your end; it's more than likely an issue with iMessage on the recipients' phone, but you can certainly try to deactivate your iMessage account (if you have one). Deregister and Turn Off iMessage - Apple Support. Bear in mind that this tool is usually used to solve issues that are the opposite of yours (iPhone users cannot send texts to you).

Do you still have the iphone? I know this has been an issue with phones that were lost or stolen, but if you still have your iphone try going into settings on that iphone and turn off imessage. See if that helps,certainly cannot do any harm.

Iphone 4s wont send/receive text messages.

my iphone 4s isnt sending/receiving text messages. when i try to open messages it just says "messages" at the top and then it is a blank page underneath. all of my previous texts were also erased. i updated to IOS 8 2 days ago but the problem just started today.

Text messages are a vital part of a working phone. We encourage you to reset your device. Please back everything up via iTunes or iCloud. Then go to Settings/General/Reset/Erase All Content and Settings. This will reset the phone and correct anything that maybe causing the issue.

I just switched from a iPhone 4S to iPhone 5S and now my text messages are showing up on my iPad as well as my phone. How to I turn this feature off and just keep them on my phone?

This is for imessage - go to settings - message - send&receive and start a new convo - remove or uncheck the apple id.

I have the same problem since updating to IOS 8.3. Any app to which I want to send a new link via IMessage does not allow me to select a contact to send the IMessage to. Using a pre-existing thread does not have same problem.

The screen does work though! Through trial and error along side a little troubleshooting, I was able to figure out that the screen will cut on after the phone dies completely. The phone has to die completely with no battery power left. Then if I plug the phone into a charge and wait a while for it to charge, the phone will turn on like nothing was ever even wrong with it. I charge the phone up to like 30% and turn it off then bam the phone turns on but the screen is solid black again.
I am currently in the process of waiting for the phone to die and when I turn the phone back on I am going to completely remove the auto-lock and lock code off of the phone for the time being.
Any other suggestions? Please help!

Sounds like the device was dropped at some point and damaged as a result.
Take it to Apple for evaluation and a replacement.

I have put up with it for months, until june 7 when I decided it has been long enough, and I got a replacement. I told the genius bar what happened, and I already did the so called "steps" that apple reccommended on the site, which was reset network settings, restore iPhone. The genius bar gave me a replacement phone, so I was expecting that the problem would be over, but it isn't. It seems that it's iOS 6.1.3 which is the case of most public complaints on apple iPhone products. Not even 3 weeks after I got the phone replaced, it is doing it again, so I suspect I'm just going to get a replacement again? Unfortunately I only have until 5th of july 2013 until my 1 year warranty is up. After that, any issue I have, I have to purchase apple care. People are expecting this problem to be fixed but I don't see it being solved any time soon. This is horrible and really low, because I have been a good customer, when I talk to the people at the genius bar, I show the utmost respect I can to them for the work they put into their job, but somewhere there is a problem where something has gone wrong. Exchange SBS2003: Email that is deleted in Outlook 2010 is not deleted on iPhone 4, or marked read after upgrading to 6.0.1. Win 7 64bit. 2 Other users in our office with iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s aren't having this issue. They didn't upgrade to 6.0.1.
